The new version!
❝ Everyone has a thousand wishes before
a tragedy, but just one afterward. ❞
— Fredrik Backman
RUSELM'S FOREWORD!
I have lived most of my life in comfort, with the Mistress Fortune kissing my temple as a babe. I had been blessed with a beautiful mother and her kind, gentle friends that helped to care for me, raise me, and educate me. I was taught to believe in the power of faith, the power of Melitele, just as I was taught the powers of unique plants or how to do the most complex of mathematical calculations.
But I do not want comfort.
I want action. I want adventure. I want to initiate change in the world around me. And most of all, I want the good people of this world to remain safe in their travels. You never do know when the next moment might be your last. All you can do is have faith and prepare. That is my wish for this compendium of beasts and monsters.
One must remember a witcher cannot be employed until the presence of a monster is evident. As how would one know what lurks in the shadows until it takes your loved ones? Tragedy is unfathomable. Until it happens to you, that is.
Good night and good luck, adventurers.
Signed,
Ruselm Jurren
THE MAN HIMSELF!
Luke Pasqualino as
RUSELM.
[AUTHOR OF THE BESTIARY]
As often as it was said this man brought trouble to the very ground he walked upon, it was said even more often that the Wolf always followed him no matter the danger. One could say he had a way with beasts like that Witcher.
AND HIS SAVIOR!
Henry Cavill as
GERALT OF RIVIA.
[THE WHITE WOLF, THE WITCHER]
A child-surprise himself, Destiny was determined to make something of this man. First, a witcher. Then, the White Wolf. Now, the man who can't let the bestiary's author be foolish enough to travel alone in a world filled with darkness.
❝ For you, a thousand times over. ❞
— The Kite Runner
DISCLAIMER!
I do not claim to own any characters, events, locations, items, history or lore that appears in the novels written by Andrzej Sapkowski; nor any such similar things that appear in Netflix's show, The Witcher. All rights belong to their respective owners. The only things I claim to own are any characters which are not from Sapkowski (such as Ruselm) and my original plot.
INSPIRED BY!
The Princess Bride, Witcher video games & books, some direct inspiration/scenes from the show of course, Outlander, "A Willing Heart", "What They Wouldn't Do", and a little from The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini.
WARNINGS!
Further inside, you'll encounter violence, foul language, gore and bloodshed. There will be topics of religion (expression of, explanations of, practice of), gender stereotypes (including sexism and the objectification of women) and sexuality (expression of), and possibly other potentially sensitive topics. Scenes of a sexual nature will more than likely be written (seeing as how casual it is in the novels, I'm going to try and maintain some similar style to Sapkowski's) though warnings can be provided in-chapter for such instances. Keep in mind that if you're too young to handle these topics, or too immature, or easily offended — then this book is not for you. You've been advised.
