CHAPTER 12

"What is this place?" Kiohn asked his big sister as they walked inside the building, a knowing smile on her face.

"You said you wanted to know more about the princes and royal family, right?" She asked her violet eyes shining with excitement.

Kiohn frowned, nodding, "I don't see how being in the Museum of History will help with it,"

Maye grinned and shook her head, "You obviously haven't been here before," she said, bewildered by her little brother's ignorance.

They showed their identification card to the guard by the door and walked in when he nodded and let them through. Immediately they walked in, the beauty of the inside of the building overwhelmed Kiohn.

His golden eyes scanned the place, taking in as much as he could. The walls were white with portraits of Zetrians he's never seen before and animals he could easy identify. The floor had black tiles all over it with statues, sculptures and illustrations arranged neatly.

The place was beautiful. He then noticed the two sets of stairways positioned right at the center of the room, divided into two sets. Kiohn then looked back at Mate, a bewildered look on his face.

She snickered and ruffled his hair, leading him towards the staircase on the left taking two at a time,

"I can't wait to see the look on your face," She said, grinning at her little brother.

Kiohn frowned, his mind flying as he tried to think about what had his sister so excited. She was usually laid back and calm, but right at that moment, she seemed eccentric. Nevertheless, he followed her trail, slowly anticipating what she wanted to show him.

As they reached the top of the stairs, they were met with a hallway. Kiohn's jaw nearly dropped at the first portrait that met his gaze. He looked between the young girl and his sister, then back to the painting, that time at the object on her head.

No! Way!

Maye grinned at her brother's perplexed expression, knowing that bringing him here was worth it. She chuckled, ruffling his soft white hair as he went one looking between her and the portrait. She remembered that day.

She was thirteen at the time, and the family was together for the portrait. Even him. She turned to the painting and her heart clenched painfully in her chest, staring back at his golden eyes, wondering how he looked now. He was five at that time, smiling and excited. She remembered his he kept squirming in their mother's arms, annoying her and the painter. Their father however, had found it completely humorous as he held her other brother with one arm and the other around his wife. Unlike his brother, the boy in his arms had been watching the painter curiously, cooing and laughing when he sent an annoyed glance at his older brother.

In the end, however, the painting turned out alright. Their father, Zodo, stood tall with a grin on his face and a child on his arm. The boy had a small smile on his face, his white eyes shining with curiosity, his arm clutching his Father's shirt subconsciously. Then there was their mother, looking as beautiful as ever, her white hair flowing from her head and disappearing below her shoulders, she had a beautiful, happy grin on her face, her eyes filled with joy and pride as she stood tall with her husband's arm around her waist, her own right hand resting casually on her son's white hair as if she was from running her hands through it.

Her eldest son had an eyebrow raised with a tiny frown on his face, conflicting the smile he had playing on his lips. On his waist rested his mother's other arm to which his hands held as if attempting to pry them off him. In the middle of them all stood thirteen year old Maye, her white hair held up in a ponytail and her hands folded in front of her with a tiny elegant smile on her face and her royal blue dress flowing down her legs making her look like the ideal princess if you ignored her little brother's foot casually resting on her head.

That brought a smile to her face. Maye then looked at Kiohn who was staring at the portrait longingly,

"Who are they?" He asked, tilting his head slightly to the side.

"Those are you brothers, Kiohn, the Princes of all of Agradel." Was her answer, as she walked closer towards him and placed a hand on his shoulder.

"What happened to them? Why aren't they with us?" He asked, his golden eyes suddenly filling with unshed eyes.

Maye then begun the story about how their planet -especially their country was suddenly invaded and conquered by the Friz that now rule them. They were ugly, huge reptiles with sharp teeth, long legs, bad repulsive breaths and scales that covered almost every inch if their bodies. They overruled their Kings and Queens and killed all those who resisted them -which were a lot of Zetrians from all around Zetriana.

"Were they among them? Who resisted?" Kiohn asked, already dreading her answer, but Maye smiled and shook her head,

"The day the invasion came, our brothers run away, along with most children and our elderly, Gran included. They fled in a ship and went looking for refuge, but none of us have heard anything from anyone of them until yesterday." Maye said.

"What do you mean? Someone finally communicated? Was it them? Where are they? Are they alive? All of them?"

"Yes. Gran was able to reach us. Through me. She told me that one a handful of the Zetrians made it alive. They had crashed into a planet called Earth and the Spaceship drowned into an 'ocean' -whatever that is- and that some lost their lives; they drowned. They were captured by humans -which is what the beings in the planet call themselves and were taking in against their will and force to work for then. She didn't give me any major details, but they ran away from where they were kept and met...." She paused, sighing before she continued,

"It's a long story, but Ryker and Gunner are alive and well."

"When will we get to see them again? And how come you didn't get on the spaceship too?"

"I don't know when we'll see them again, but it will happen, and I didn't get on the ship because I wasn't going to leave mum and dad behind. I choose to stay with them." She answered before letting her hand slip from his shoulder,

"We should go now, we're not really allowed to be here," she said, realising they spend way too much time there.

Suddenly, there was the sound of rushed footsteps before a loud, angry voice boomed across the empty hallway,

"Hey! What the hell are you two doing here! Who let you in?!"

Maye gripped Kiohn's forearm and together, they made a run for it with their hearts beating rapidly in their chest for fear of their faces being seen.

They couldn't get caught. They just couldn't!

"Stop!" The Friz exclaimed, with the sound of their armour clinking as they ran after them.

Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap!

🔱🔱🔱

He threw his fist at his opponent, blood spluttering out from his nose with some of it landing on his cheek, he smirked, the sound of his nose cracking giving him a strong amount of satisfaction he never knew he could feel. Ryker threw another punch at his face, enough to make his opponent lose his balance and fall to the cold, white snow beneath their feet.

Blood oozed from his nose to the ground, staining the pure white mass. He groaned and wiped it off before forcing himself to get back on his feet. Ryker smirked menacingly and clenched his fist, already looking forward to breaking more of the guy's bones but his eyes suddenly rolled back and he once again dropped to the ground, the snow eating up his sides.

Ryker let out a huff and sagged his shoulders. He really was in the mood for a good fight. These days, the sight of someone in pain, bleeding, or even a little bit of both was the only thing that made his day interesting. He licked his lower lip, tasting the blood that slightly oozed from a cut that he received courtesy of the guy now laying on the ground.

He spotted Gunner not so far away from where he stood, bored.

Unlike Ryker, his brother's movements were swift, calculated and careful. He blocked more than he punched, which was the exact opposite of how Ryker fights these days. The difference between their fighting skills was great.

Gunner's opponent swung at him again, sweat glistering from the side of his head and his back as well as torso. Gunner easily blocked his punch with his forearm, looking like he wasn't breaking a sweat, which he probably wasn't.

Ryker sighed and dropped to the ground crossing his legs and placing his elbows on his knees, his chin resting on his palms as he waited with a blank look on his face. He knew what his brother was doing.

He was wearing him out, making him use up all his energy so he couldn't fight anymore. He was impressed however because usually, they'd be exhausted by know. It appears that Jax has a fire that he hadn't noticed before.

Go figure.

Gunner seemed to have grown impatient and bored -probably more of the latter- because he suddenly brought his right fist back then slammed it onto Jax's face, immediately knocking the exhausted guy out. He dropped to the snow without much of a sound and laid there, unmoving.

Gunner kept his eyes on him momentarily with an emotion flashing past his eyes before he turned his head and lowered his gaze to Ryker, slowly raising an eyebrow at him.

His younger brother only smirked and took his time getting on his feet. By the time he did, Gunner was in front of him with his hands buried in his pockets.

'Please don't tell me you feel guilty brother,' Ryker said to him.

Gunner let out a sigh and walked past him knowing Ryker would fall into step with him as they headed back to the base.

'I do. He did nothing to deserve that.' Was Gunner's sympathetic answer, though his face showed nothing but blank nothingness?

'But you were sparing. It is the one time you get to hit someone without any particular reason,'

Gunner frowned, 'That is your view of it. Not mine. You enjoy it, but I don't.'

Ryker held his arms in front of him, looking at the bloodied mess before his eyes darkened, 'You are right. To each their own then. But for how long do you plan to keep it up? Sooner or later, you might meet your match, someone who is almost good as -or even better than- you. What will you do then? Take their punches until you are not knocked out? I cannot sit back and watch that happen to you,' Ryker said, his jaw ticking and a massive frown on his face.

Gunner smiled slightly, 'I appreciate your concern, brother. But, if what you said did happen, then I'd have a reason to fight back. Losing is not a word I would like to know more about,'

Ryker smirked proudly as Gunner wrapped his right arm around his shoulders,

'Ah, there he is. I was beginning to think you turned into a saint,'

'And I thought you, the devil himself, but it seems you still have a heart underneath all that blood lust I saw from you earlier,' Gunner said, jokingly as he pulled his arm from his little brother's shoulders.

'You wound me,' Ryker answered, trying his hardest not to chuckle. Gunner pursed his lips; his own attempt at holding his laughter. They walked past the base and made their way to their shared chambers, eager to get some rest before they go out for a 'hunt' with Kace's team.

Of late, they've recruited over fifty beings in just a month, helping the Centre grow and climb to the top position, standing high above the other two.

As Ryker made his way to his bed, he spotted the files resting on the grey bed side table and reached for it. Keeping the profiles of the Six engraved in his mind while Gunner flopped in his own bed and was snoring in a matter of seconds.

Ziera Kauna.

There was just something about her that made him...intrigued by her. Be it her completely black eyes, the freckles on her face, her auburn hair, or how innocent and fragile she looked.

By the devil, he almost felt protective of her. Like he could hide her from the cruelty of the world forever, but then he read what her ability was, and his previous thought flew out the window.

Guess she can take care of herself, he thought, not paying any attention to the missing detail on her skill.

Hesitating, he moved on the second rank.

Ditrix Jayd.

Ryker pursed his lips. Maroon eyes. He's seen those eyes before, but he can't remember where exactly. He was oddly familiar. He lowered his gaze to his ability and raised an eyebrow, realizing that a part of him already knew what it would be even before he read it. He kept that fact at the back of his mind and read on.

Glaze. No second name. He wondered why. He was a Cyborg. That he could tell without having to read. He went on.

Dragha Drachma. Green eyes, and gills at the side of his neck. Another no-brainer.

Secile Devils. He smirked, liking her second name. If only he knew his own. He smirk dropped at that. He kept her ability at the back of his mind and went on to the last one.

Faby Zedong. Blue eyes. And that was it. He looked more human compared to the rest of them, considering that they were all enhanced. His ability wasn't so bad either.

Ryker huffed and put the files back on the table, sprawled on the bed on his back and shut his eyes, a question lingering at the back of his head.

Why the hell does he feel a certain...connection with each and every one of them?

How I picture Ryker's eyes, to be specific.

VOTE. COMMENT. AND KEEP BEING AWESOME.
