the universe had a funny way of doing things. it was something that vivienne had come to terms with a long time ago. long before her and chris were together.

so when her and chris got together she knew something bad had to come along. to balance out the scales of the universe and all of that jazz.

she just didn't know that it would come two years later.

and now that her and chris were talking once again and a small budding romance began to sprout.. as crappy as it sounded, she was expecting something bad.

vivienne woke up the next day to an empty bed, with the sound of music playing in her kitchen. confused and unaware of what she had asked of the boy the night before.

so she grabbed what she had around her— in this case it was an unplugged lava lamp, scared that someone had broken in she raised it above the guys head.

he sat at her table, his back towards her staring down at his phone. she was about to strike him until he laughed, a laugh that she loved so much

"chris?" she questioned, her voice hoarse from the previous day of interviews. the boy turned around and laughed even harder at the sight of vivienne about to attack him with a decoration item

"viv what are you doing?" he asked. his voice full of concern as he stood up and grabbed the lava lamp from her hand. "when did you get here?" she asked, startled

"you asked me to stay last night" he lowered his face to hers and pressed a soft kiss to her forehead. her eyes widened, she had no recollection of asking her ex boyfriend to stay the night.

"did we?" she asked, not knowing what to expect "no, you passed out on my back on our way to the car" she laughed out of embarrassment, knowing nothing of what she did when she was half asleep.

"oh okay, well sorry for keeping you, did nick or matt tell you anything?" he shook his head in response and sat back down at her table "also uhh sorry but i found your little bagel chip bite things and these things are so good" he said through a full mouth and holding up the now half empty bag

she laughed, covering her eyes with her hands "chris close your mouth, im getting an ick" he laughed and finished chewing, drinking water and then uncovering her eyes "you cant get an ick, you love me, remember?"

she did remember. she could never forget. no matter how hard she wanted to or tried to.

the next hour was spent with the two eating left over pizza from the day before while they laughed and played mario cart once again arguing over who won

"you cheated! SWEAR!!" chris yelled, standing up from the couch, the nintendo controller in his hand. vivienne threw her head back laughing before staring up at him once again

"nope, you just still suck ass" she boasted. chris sat back down and looked at her "rematch?"

"it's okay to lose 4 times in a row chris" she smirked, teasing him.

"shut up and play me again" he challenged

it gave her a familiar sense of warmth in her soul as she spent yet another day with chris. her living room now smelled like him, her bed smelled like him. she wanted to smell like him again.

"viv your literally in last place your never going to win now" chris smirked, glancing at her slightly. she was already looking at him.

the world slowed, and the video game noises faded into the background. it was suddenly sophomore year again. falling in love was easy. and as the two grew closer, his phone interrupted them.

her eyes fell to his screen subconsciously, and her heart mourned once again when she read the contact name

estella. estella was calling him.

chris picked up his phone quickly and ignored the call, looking at vivienne once again only to realize that she had seen. "viv listen to me its-"

"no, no its whatever, uhh lets restart the race." she said coldly, not looking back at him and only staring straight up at the tv again.

"viv please, forget the race just—" he tried to plead. she shook her head, shaking her head as she played the game

her mind raced around, why was he talking to her? she shouldn't be jealous he just broke up with her. maybe its a butt dial? why was she calling him? were they back together?

vivienne understood she had no right to be jealous. they had just broken up after being together for two years, and estella knew the most recent version of chris more than she did. this was the universe balancing her scales, bringing estella back into his life.

she fought back tears until chris left a half hour later when matt actually called curious as to where he was and why he hadn't gone home yet.

as soon as the door shut behind him tears swelled in her eyes. everything in her mind screamed out that chris was a bad idea

"of course she was going to come back.. god i'm actually a fucking idiot." she said to herself, washing her dishes. it was now 1:23 and she needed to see her friends. she needed to distract herself and get away from the thoughts in her head that were christopher sturniolo.

and just on time her phone began blowing up with messages. a smile came to her face as she picked up her phone, wondering what was happening this time in her friends crazy worlds.
