𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐎𝐍 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐈𝐍𝐆 standing between lydia and malia. stiles and kira was on the other side of the tate girl, all five of them leaning on stiles' jeep as they watched araya and scott talk to one another. once they had seen araya walked away from the alpha, stiles stepped forward.

"so what now?" he asked.

"she thinks she knows where we can find derek." scott answered as he walked closer.

"she gonna tell us where?" malia questioned.

"uh, actually, she's giving us a guide." scott answered.

before any one of them could ask who the guide was, the sound of a motorcycle engine roaring filled the air. everyone turned to see that it was in fact a motorcycle approaching them. stiles moved next to scott as the motorcyclist pulled in front of the pack, everyone looking at them with furrowed eyebrows. the person turned the motorcycle off before they took their helmet off, revealing a familiar girl. lydia and allison shared a look, remembering the girl from when she had left the matching bruises on their wrist.

"you know her?" stiles questioned.

"braeden." scott said.

"who's braeden?" kira asked.

"she's a mercenary." lydia simply answered.

"right now, i'm the only one who's gonna take you to la iglesia." braeden informed the six teens.

"the church?" lydia asked.

"what's the church?" stiles then asked.

"it's not a place you'll find god." braeden answered.

with that, allison, lydia, kira, and malia somehow managed to squeeze themselves into the backseat of stiles' jeep while the boys sat in the two front seats. it was times like these where allison wished she had brought her own car. she honestly didn't know how they managed to drive down to mexico all the way from california. braeden put her helmet on before she started her the engine of the motorcycle and pulled off. stiles followed behind her, making sure to be hot on her trail so he wouldn't lose her.

silence filled the jeep as they followed behind the mercenary. everyone was either looking out the windows or was just trying to catch up on some sleep.

"okay, i'll ask." malia began, breaking the comfortable silence. "who's kate argent."

"uh, i'd like to know, too." kira informed, slightly raising her hand.

lydia looked at allison while scott and stiles glanced at her through the rearview mirror.

"well, we were at her funeral. so, i'd like to know how she got out of a casket that was buried six feet underground." stiles pointed out as he continued to follow braeden.

"she was never in it." scott mumbled as realization dawned on him.

"she was my aunt." allison informed, making malia and kira look at her.

"and a total sociopath." lydia added, allison nodding slightly.

"you guy don't have to talk about it now if you don't want to." kira told them, noticing the looks on scott and allison's faces.

"um, yes, they do." malia quickly said.

scott stayed silent, looking through the rearview mirror at allison. the huntress noticed this, seeing the hesitant look on his face. she simply nodded, giving him a reassuring smile.

"yeah, she's right." allison mumbled. "you guys should know. you need to know."

"all right. kate was the one who set the fire that killed most of derek's family." stiles informed malia and kira as he stared at the road.

"some of them survived, like cora, and peter." scott continued.

"a very angry peter." lydia corrected.

"yeah, he's the one who bit and turned me." scott nodded.

"and he bit aurora, waking up her own wolf abilities." allison added.

"and the one who finally caught up to kate and killed her." lydia continued.

"and we saw her buried." stiles said.

"no. we saw a casket, remember? she wasn't in it." scott pointed out. "the calaveras heard that kate had been killed by an alpha's claws. they wanted to make sure she was really dead. her body was healing. more and more, as she got closer to the full moon. she was coming back. so they switched out the bodies. they took her." he explained, turning in his seat to look allison. "if a hunter is bit, they have to take their own life, right?"

this made allison nod, "yeah. in my family, it's like a code. but to the calaveras, it's a law. they make sure that they enforce it."

"good for her. i wouldn't do it either." malia said.

"would you kill half a dozen people to get out?" scott questioned. "because that's what she did."

"so kate's a werewolf now?" kira asked, looking between lydia, allison, stiles, and scott.

"we don't know." scott answered. "you know, there's a saying, sometimes the shape you take reflects the person you are."

"what kind of shape is a sociopathic bitch?" lydia questioned before she looked to allison. "sorry."

before anyone could respond, the jeep started to jerk violently along the dirt road. stiles tried his best to take control of it, making sure that it didn't hit anything near them. the vehicle then came to a sudden stop, making everyone in it jerk forward. everyone quickly climbed out of roscoe as braeden made her way back to them on her motorcycle. they all looked at the front of the jeep, checking to see if they had hit anything.

"what happened?" braeden asked as she walked towards them.

"i don't know. it felt like we hit something." stiles answered, continuing to examine roscoe.

"scott, we need to get there by night. it's too dangerous otherwise." braeden told the alpha.

this made scott look at her, a hesitant look on his face as he turned towards his best friend. stiles saw the look on his face before he waved his hand at him.

"go." he said.

"not without you." scott said.

"dude, someone needs to find derek. we'll think of something, we always do. go." stiles assured as he walked towards the mccall boy.

braeden started to walk back towards her bike, climbing onto it. scott looked at her before he turned back to stiles. he then nodded, following the mercenary.

"scott." kira called, making said boy turn around to face her. "i can't think of anything else to say except for be careful. and - and i know 'be careful' sounds kind of lame and i'm totally sure the second you're gone i'm gonna think of something much better, but i. . ."

"uh, 'be careful' works for me." scott nodded, a small smile on his face.

kira sent a smile back before she stepped forward and hugged him, the boy melting into her. allison couldn't help but smile at the altercation before her chest tightened. she could basically feel aurora's arm slither their way around her waist in that moment, almost like she was actually there.

"scott, the sun's going down." braeden pointed out.

"hey, i gotta go." scott told kira.

the kitsune nodded before she pulled away. scott quickly ran towards braeden, climbing onto the motorcycle behind her. with that, they rode off, a bunch of sand dust swarming in the air as they disappeared. allison turned to look at the jeep, seeing that stiles had the hood up and was looking to see what was going on. malia was crouched down by the tire, looking at it with furrowed eyebrows.

"stiles." she called as she reached forward. everyone turned to her, seeing her pull something out from the tire. "i don't think we hit something. i think something hit us."

stiles grabbed whatever was in malia's hand, looking at it closely. allison furrowed her eyebrows, seeing that it looked like a tooth or a sharpened bone of some kind.

"what the hell could've hit us?" she whispered to herself.

𝐀 𝐅𝐄𝐖 𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐑𝐒 𝐖𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐁𝐘, 𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐋𝐄𝐒 still trying to fix whatever happened to the engine of roscoe. lydia was leaning on the side of the jeep, looking out into the desert. allison was sitting in the driver's seat, the door opened. malia and kira were standing in front of the vehicle, looking around cautiously.

"maybe we should just walk." lydia suggested.

"hey." stiles started, looking up at the strawberry blonde before he took a screwdriver out of his mouth. "i will never abandon this jeep. you understand me? ever. ever."

"work faster, stiles." malia told the spastic boy, making everyone look at her.

allison slowly climbed out of the car, noticing that the werecoyote was looking around the desert. by the look on her face, allison could tell that her supernatural senses were picking on something that could possibly be a danger to everyone there.

"there is something out here with us." the tate girl finished.

stiles turned to look at lydia before he made eye contact with allison, all of them having knitted eyebrows. stiles started to go back to work, his anxiety being dialed up to 100, which was making him work faster. his speed didn't seem to do anything thought, the sun going down and being replaced with the moon. lydia was still standing at the side of the jeep, pointing a flashlight into the engine so stiles could see. malia, kira, and allison were all standing around the jeep protectively, kira having her katana in her hands while allison had her bow in hers - both weapons were in the trunk.

"lydia, could you please hold the light still for a second?" stiles questioned. "it's really hard to see anything if you keep shaking it like that."

"i'm shaking it like this because we're in the middle of nowhere with your broken down jeep and we're being attacked by yet another razor-clawed monster. and i'm terrified." lydia quickly defended.

"well, just be slightly less terrified." stiles told her, making allison shake her head.

the huntress tuned out the two, putting all of her focus on their surroundings. "anything?"

"it's too hard to see. we should've brought another flashlight." malia responded.

allison looked over to kira, the kitsune shaking her head. an idea then dawned onto kira, allison watching as she walked towards the jeep. she held her katana in front of one of the headlights, angling slightly so that the light can reflect off of it and into the desert. allison smiled as she turned around, looking around to see if she could see anything with the newfound light. her smile dropped when she saw something quickly move itself behind a big rock.

"did you see that?" kira asked.

"i thought i was the only one." allison mumbled.

malia shifted next to the argent girl, making her blue eyes glow before she showed off her canines, a growl escaping her lips. the werecoyote then started to run towards the creature.

"malia, wait!" kira yelled before she started following after the girl.

allison grabbed an arrow from her quiver, nocking it into her arrow as she ran behind the two girls. allison quickly caught up to kira, seeing that she had her sword ready. allison held up her bow, wanting to be ready just in case that thing that they saw decided to make an appearance.

"where did malia go?" she whispered, looking around as they walked deeper into the desert.

"i lost her." kira mumbled.

the duo continued to cautiously walk further and further, not seeing any signs of malia or that thing.

"malia?" kira called out.

the sound of a twig snapping behind them made the two girls turn around. allison pulled back on the arrow and the string of the bow, ready to attack whoever or whatever was behind them. the huntress put the bow down slightly, not seeing anything. the two girls turned around again, checking to make sure that they were alone. they heard another twig snap behind them once again, the both of them repeating their actions from a few seconds prior. then the sound of footsteps quickly approaching made them snap around, allison getting ready to shoot the arrow while kira pulled her katana back to slash the enemy that was about to attack them.

"it's me!" malia quickly told them, making them freeze. "uh, it's me, it's me."

allison put her bow and arrow down, "are you okay?"

"what happened? what's out there?" kira quizzed as she put her katana down.

malia looked to where she had came from with knitted eyebrows. "i don't know, but it is big and fast. and it cuts deep."

allison and kira looked down, noticing the wound that was on malia's side. the trio was snapped out of the small amount of fear that was starting to creep up their spines, the sound of an engine being turned on catching their attention. the three of them started to make their way back to the jeep, allison making sure that malia was okay and was healing.

they quickly approached roscoe, seeing that lydia and stiles were already inside. stiles climbed out of the car, letting the three girls climb into the back before he got back in and slammed the door shut. with that, he pulled off down the dirt road.

"you. . ." the stilinski boy started, pointing to malia. "you please don't do that ever again!"

"do what?" malia questioned.

"i - i thought you just took off. i thought you were running." stiles said.

"i was running." malia said.

"no, i mean, like, i thought you were leaving." stiles elaborated, making allison look to where lydia was sitting.

"i wouldn't leave without you." malia told the spastic boy.

"really?"

"no. i would never leave without you."

allison could feel lydia's mood drop slightly, slipping her hand into her's for some sort of comfort.

malia then turned to look at the back seat, her eyes skimming over the three girls. "them i would leave."

"yeah." stiles mumbled before he turned towards the three girls. "it's progress."

"that doesn't look so good." lydia said, making allison look at the wound that was on malia's side.

"it's okay." malia shrugged.

"are you sure? it looks deep." kira questioned.

"yeah, i can feel it healing." the werecoyote assured.

"you didn't see anything?" lydia asked.

"barely. it had a strong scent, though." malia answered.

"like what?" stiles asked.

"like death."

silence fell amongst the five teens, stiles continuing to drive to la iglesia. he didn't really know where he was going, but he continued to drive straight down the road and hope for the best. hopefully scott and braeden found derek.

𝐌𝐄𝐀𝐍𝐖𝐇𝐈𝐋𝐄, 𝐒𝐂𝐎𝐓𝐓 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐁𝐑𝐀𝐄𝐃𝐄𝐍 were standing under the church. scott had just let out a loud roar to try and scare away whatever was trying to attack them, which made a few rocks and some of the passageways to collapse from how powerful the roar was.

"i think i scared it." he said, turning to look at braeden.

"i think you scared everything." she shot back.

the sound of rocks crumbling behind them made them turn around, revealing a room that had a wall of some kind with a symbol carved into it. it look like a creature of some kind, a bunch of other symbols surround it.

"what is that?" scott questioned.

he then quickly picked up the flashlight that he had dropped in the process of running away from whatever was chasing them. he followed after braeden, who had walked into the room.

"tezcatlipoca." braeden started, making scott look at her. "the natural jaguar god. i think we found derek."

scott quickly dropped the flashlight to the ground before he walked up to the wall, placing his ear on it so that he could hear whatever was on the other side. it was faint, but he heard a heart beating. he pulled away, making his hand into a fist before he looked to where braeden was standing.

"stand back." he said, the mercenary doing as told.

with that, the alpha punched the wall, his fist going straight through the wall. he then started to pull away at the stone, braeden stepping forward so that she could help him. they continued doing this until the hole was big enough for the both of them to see through it. scott picked up the flashlight he had dropped, pointing it inside. his eyebrows knitted together when he saw who was on the other side.

"oh, my god." he mumbled.

it was derek, but not the derek that he knew. it was a younger derek. . . a much, much, much younger derek. scott had reached forward, helping derek stand up and step through the wall that had just been destroyed. him and braeden quickly wrapped derek's arms around their shoulders, helping the boy walk so that they could get out. but something made scott stop, braeden looking at him with knitted eyebrows.

"scott, we have to get him out of here." she informed.

scott didn't respond, looking around the room to see what was making him have this feeling. his eyes then landed on something that was being covered by the shadows. "hang on." he mumbled.

he gently took derek's arm from around his shoulders before he walked over to the something that he had seen. he pointed his flashlight at it, seeing that it was a casket made out of some sort of wood.

"scott." braeden called.

"what's this?" he asked her, turning to look at her.

"i don't know, and i don't care." she answered. "we came here to find derek, and we got him. so let's go."

"just hold on." scott mumbled gently placing his flashlight back on the floor.

he stepped back slightly, trying to see if there was a way to open the casket. he didn't see one though, so he closed his hand once again before he raised his fists over his head and brought it down. his fists broke through the casket, the mccall boy pulling the other pieces of wood so that he could see inside. he then quickly picked his flashlight back up and pointed it inside, his heart dropped at the sight of who was inside.

"holy shit."

➶︎ ☠︎ 𓃦 ☠︎ ➶︎

𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐋𝐄𝐒, 𝐌𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐀, 𝐋𝐘𝐃𝐈𝐀, 𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐎𝐍, and kira all pulled up in front of the church that scott and braeden were in. no one knew how the hell stiles found his way, but they were glad to get to the place so that they could go home. just was stiles turned his jeep off, braeden came out of the church with derek in her arms, practically dragging the werewolf since he barely had any strength to walk. everyone climbed out, stiles furrowing his eyebrows when scott didn't come out.

"is that him? is that derek?" malia quizzed, turning to look at stiles.

"uh, sort of." stiles mumbled, noticing that it was derek, just a younger version of him.

"why does he look like he's our age?" allison questioned, her eyebrows knitted together.

"we don't know. but at least he's alive, right?" braeden answered.

"uh, wh - where's scott?" stiles then asked.

"derek wasn't the only person we found in there." braeden informed, making everyone look at her weirdly.

"who else did you find?" lydia asked, stepping forward.

on cue, scott stepped out of the church with a body in his arms. he was carrying whoever it was bridal style. the other five teens watched as the alpha got closer, their eyebrows furrowed in confusion once they saw that he was carrying someone. they waited for him to get closer so that they could see if they knew who it was - and they did. allison felt her heart drop as familiar features came into her line of vision, making the huntress step forward as tears started to form in her eyes.

"is - is that -" stiles stuttered, not sure if his eyes were playing tricks on him.

"yeah." scott nodded, looking down at the person in his arms. "it's aurora. and she's breathing."

allison stepped closer, noticing the dirt and cobwebs that covered her skin. "she's alive?"
