Training

THE FAMILY IS GATHERED IN A CLEARING IN THE WOODS. Genevieve is in a tree branch watching the scene of Emmett and Jasper fight.

Emmett runs towards Jasper and swings his arms, but Jasper avoids it. Instead, he kicks him in the knee and punches him in the chest, which is why he lands in a tree with a loud thud, but he immediately springs back to face Jasper.

"Again!" He growls madly.

Everybody stops by the arrival of Edward and Bella. They stand on the other side, and Edward announces that the pack has arrived. Genevieve hops down from the tree, landing next to her mate.

Jasper pulls her in front of him and wraps his arms protectively around her waist, his chin resting on top of her head. They could see the pack of shape-shifters emerge from the tree line. You could tell that the coven of vampires and the pack of shape-shifters were wary of each other's presence.

"They don't trust us enough to be in their human forms," Edward explains to them, breaking the tension that was happening between them.

"They came," Carlisle says and continues.

"-That's all that matters. Will you translate?" Edward nods.

The coven leader steps forward,
"-Welcome. Jasper has experience with newborns. He'll teach us how to defeat them," He tells them.

"They want to know how newborns differ from us."

"They're a great deal stronger than us because their own human blood lingers in their tissues. Our kind is never more physically powerful than in our first several months of this life," Carlisle explains and takes a step back and lets Jasper take over the explaining.

Jasper untangles himself from Genevieve and gives him a peck on the lips. She gives him an encouraging smile. He walks to the middle, between the coven and pack.

"Carlisle's right. That's why they are created. A newborn army doesn't need a thousand like a human army, and no human army could stand against the two most important things to remember are first," he tells them and looks at them intently, his hands clasped at his back, his stance was in a military position,
"-never let their arms around you. They'll crush you instantly. The second is never to go for the obvious kill. They'll be expecting that, and you will lose. Emmett?" Jasper turns around to face him, and he takes a fighting stance as Emmett does the same position.
"-Don't hold back."

"Not in my nature," Emmett says with pride and a smirk on his face, cracking his knuckles.

Emmett was the strongest in the coven, so he was close to having a strength of a newborn, but he fought without tactics.

Jasper has much more experience than him because of his background in the Southern Vampire Wars, so he observed his moves and how he fought carelessly so he easily beat him.

The rest of the family went in pairs to show the pack how vampires fought and how capable they were.

Edward places a bet that Jasper will win since he has more experience with fighting, while Emmett places his bet on Genevieve, putting all of his trust in his new sister.

"Beat his ass, sis! Or I'll lose 50 bucks," Emmett shouts at her while she just shakes her head.

"Darlin', it's your turn now," Jasper calls his mate with a smirk.

He gives her his hand to take and pulls her toward his chest,
"Let's see who's the better fighter," he taunts her.

"Don't get too confident, cowboy. I have plenty of experience in sparring," she tells him with a proud smirk. She winks at him and walks to the opposite side. She stands in front of him, assessing his stance.

Jasper makes the first move running towards her, and she does the same, but she slides between his legs. He turns around to face her, and she kisses him.

He runs towards her again, and she ducks at the last second, swinging her leg towards his knees to make him trip. He immediately gets up to his feet and runs towards her again.

He got a grip on her shoulders and pulled her towards his chest with a smile on his lips, his hand on her chin, he leaned forward to kiss her lips, but she avoided him and punched him hard in the chest.

He lands on a large tree. She runs towards him as he does, too, her hand on his shoulder throwing him to the ground, her knee on his throat. He taps the foot admitting defeat. She helps him get up on the ground.

"Not bad, darlin'," he tells her with a wide smile. Now he knows that she can take care of herself in the battle.

"That's just unfair, and she gets private lessons from him!" Edward complains as he slaps 50$ on Emmett's palm while Emmet just fist pumps the air, like the child that he is.

They watched Alice and Greyson fight. With Alice's power, he predicted Greyson's every move resulting in Alice's win.

Genevieve, being herself, teased his brother endlessly about losing to a girl. She overhears Jasper telling his story to Bella, and she decides to join them.

"Alice told me when I met her at the diner that someone was fated to me, that she will love me endlessly and we will be happy for eternity, so I helped Alice look for the coven. I waited for her for decades. Alice finally had a clear vision of her, and that was Genevieve. She made me feel so loved. She made me a better man. If I have to repeat my days in the newborn army resulting from meeting Genevieve, I'll do it in a heartbeat," Jasper tells Bella with a broad smile. Just the thought of his mate made his day better. Genevieve approaches him and hugs him from behind.

"My apologies for keeping you waiting, my cowboy," she tells him. He pulls her towards him so he can face her.

"I'll always wait for you. No need for apologies, ma'am. I don't know what I'd have become without you." He glances down at her, an affectionate smile on his face.

"You'll never have to be that again," she tells him with a gentle smile. She got on her tiptoes and gave him a passionate kiss which he gladly returned.

"I love you, Mr.Whitlock," Genevieve mumbles in the kiss,
with her eyes full of love just for him.

"I love you too, future Mrs. Whitlock," Jasper says to her with a goofy smile on his face while Genevieve beams at the name.

While Bella watches the couple in awe, after decades of waiting, they finally find each other, and he just wishes for that kind of love for her and Edward. She walked away and gave the couple some time for themselves.

THE NEXT DAY EDWARD DECIDED THAT HE WOULD NOT BE JOINING THE BATTLE. Instead, he will be by Bella's side, protecting her from Victoria. Everyone agreed with the idea, and the four of them walked to the clearing where the battle would take place. They walk towards the field hand in hand.

"So you're not fighting? Did you pull a muscle or something?" Jacob greets Edward, who is completely shirtless, much to Edward's chagrin.

"He's doing it for me, okay?" Bella assures him, making the mutt roll his eyes. "Whatever, just tell me the plan," Jacob says annoyedly.

"This field will give us an advantage in the battle, we need to lure the newborns with Bella's scent, but it needs to end here," Jasper explains to the pup.

"Edward and I are going to a campsite, and if he carries me, they'll still pick us up on our scent," Bella adds, making Genevieve and Jasper nod in agreement.

"You're stench, however, is revolting," Edward shoots, making Genevieve laugh loudly, making the wolf glare at her. "Why it's funny you do stink," Jasper stifles a laugh.

The pup scoffs, "You really don't want to start comparing stinks."

"What they mean is that your scent will mask over my scent if you carry me around the field," Bella explains, making Jacob smirk at the idea of him carrying Bella, making Edward sneer at his thoughts.

"Done," Jacob quickly agrees to make Edward look at Jasper and Genevieve, shaking his head. "Not a good idea," he disagrees.

"Edward, they wouldn't want to get anywhere near his...odor," Jasper points out with a sigh making Genevieve snort.

"Okay, let's just try it," Bella agreed to the plan, walking towards Jacob to be picked up in bridal style.

"Eau de wolf coming up," the mutt comments making Edward scowl, already getting very annoyed with the plan "run," he orders.

The three watch Jacob run with ease and disappear into the forest. Jasper leaves Genevieve with Edward to check if he can still track Bella's scent.

"You know, based on experience, a love triangle is hard to get out of," Genevieve tells Edward with a smirk.

"You sure know a lot about love triangles," Edward replies to her.

"Of course I do. I made one. I can see in the pup's eyes that he is very much in love with her, and you love her just as much as he does," Genevieve says to him.

"I know. I can't blame him for falling in love with her, and he was there when I left her. He helped her get over me," Edward frowns.

"But she didn't. She still saved you after the shit you put her through," Genevieve tells him,
"-to ease you up, she will always choose you. She forgave you that easily, even if you left her in the woods in a bad state. A girl like her is rare, Edward, rare but stupid, no offense," she continues.

"None was taken," Edward comments.

"I still can't believe she forgave you that easily, you left her for five months, and she forgave you in a blink of an eye," She wonders.

"I know. I can't believe it too. I was lucky," Edward says.

"Damn right you are, don't let her go McBroody," Genevieve teases him, making Edward roll his eyes. Jasper emerges from the woods approaching his mate and brother. "All I picked up was wolf stench. No Bella"

Edward nods slowly, and he is still unsure about the plan. He looks around the field.

"This will work, Edward," Jasper reassures him.

"Great," He scowls for the sixth time. Genevieve looks at his mate with a smile.

"Alice is waiting for me. We are talking to Charlie about Bella having a sleepover with us," Genevieve tells her mate, and he nods, giving her a quick peck on the lips. "I'll see you later, doll." She winks at him and returns to the house.

THEY WALK UP TO THE SWAN RESIDENCE. Alice rings the doorbell. A man with a mustache answers. He looks surprised to see them. "Hello, Mr. Swan!" Alice greets him enthusiastically.

"Oh, Hello," he greets back, a little confused about what they are doing at his house.

"I'm Alice, Edward's sister," she tells him, and he nods. He looks at Genevieve with curiosity.

"I'm Genevieve Stone, and we just moved here about four months ago. I'm one of Bella's friends," We're not even friends, not even acquaintances, she thought to herself.

"It's nice to know Bella is making new friends, she's an introvert," he tells her, and she nods.

"Actually, Mr. Swan-" Alice begins, but he cuts her off. "Call me Charlie," he insists to them, and they smile at him.

"Charlie," she begins, "We were wondering if Bella could come with us on our family camping trip, so she needs to sleep over at our house. We leave early in the morning, so it's easy for us."

"This is our first camping trip too, so it's really special," Genevieve adds. Then he looks at Alice, who is very hopeful for his answer, and he nods.

"Sure, she needs some sun every now and then," he agrees. They chatted for a while. Genevieve actually enjoyed his company, and he reminded her of her father.

"We need to head back. Esme is expecting us for dinner," Genevieve tells him, and Alice nods in agreement.

"Oh, well, you should get home. I wouldn't want to miss Esme's cooking," Charlie says, and they smile at him and stand up, and they continue their chat outside.

"Hey, Alice, Genevieve, don't be a stranger," He insists; they smile at him.

"We enjoyed your company, Charlie. We'll be seeing you soon," Genevieve tells him, and he nods and goes back inside. They looked at Bella, who was exiting the car.

"Your alibi for the battle is all arranged," Alice tells her happily.

"Really?" She asks, surprised that her father agrees.

"I told your father that our whole family's going camping this weekend. So you are having a sleepover at our house," Alice tells her with a smile.

"Charlie is going fishing with Billy Black anyway," Genevieve tells her, remembering that Charlie was very excited about the fishing trip.

"Charlie? You guys on a first-name basis now?" She asks them, still surprised.

"Us, he likes," Alice tells her, and Genevieve smiles at her teasingly. "Edward, not so much," Alice snorts.

"Actually, you and Edward will have the house to yourselves tonight," Genevieve tells her quietly. "-so you know, use protection," she quickly adds with a wink. Bella just blushes madly.

"Like...Alone? Alone?" She whispers to them, still blushing.

"We're all going hunting, powering up for the battle," Alice tells her. "You're welcome," Then she skips towards the car with Genevieve right behind her and drives back to the house.
