Witness
ALICE AND GENEVIEVE VENTURED OFF, finding witnesses and the presence of the hybrid. Their time is limited.
First, the notes that Genevieve took from Jasper were about a man named J. Jenks, a full-time lawyer and part-time purveyor of illegal documents that Jasper knew of since the '80s.
They had a meeting about creating a passport for Jacob and Renesmee just in case the meeting with the Volturi didn't end well. At least they'll be out of the country, safe.
They reasoned that their sister-in-law Bella would be picking the order up since they had booked a spa vacation.
Second, they went to the Amazonian coven Alice knew of. They didn't explain much, only that their family was in danger and that the Volturi was after them and they needed witnesses.
Kachiri, one of the three sisters, helped the two in the search for the hybrid. She was a great help, knowing about the stories of Joham and his experiments and his plan to create a super-race with vampire/human hybrid children.
Genevieve knew a vampire that had a strange fascination with wars who dressed like a Renaissance pirate, Garret, one of Genevieve's old friends.
They traveled to Texas, where they found Jasper's old friends when he was with Maria, Peter, and Charlotte.
Genevieve asked Peter to deliver a package to Jasper and not tell the couple where they would go next because Genevieve was sure that Jasper would go find her.
Currently, they are searching small towns and villages of the country's southern end, looking for legends and primary sources of the people's folklore about hybrids.
Genevieve orders the shadows to lurk around every village they went to. It is easy since they reported to her if a hybrid is here or not, so if they say there was none, they'll hop off to another location.
He's close
We found him
Hybrid
That is when Genevieve and Alice know they are in the right place. The shadows guide them. They see an olive-skinned man dressed in native clothes with a large black tattoo on his arms.
There was a woman beside her, a pale olive skin with a long stick that was surrounded with shells with her.
"Who are you?" The man asks them, positioning himself as if ready to attack any minute.
Genevieve looks at Alice, who just nods at her, and she says, "We mean no harm. We just need your help."
"What is it that you need us?" The woman asks cautiously.
"Are you a hybrid? A human and vampire?" Alice asks them.
"Yes," The man answers shortly.
"My niece is also a hybrid that attracted the Volturi's attention, and we need your help as a witness," Genevieve tells them with pleading eyes.
"We are not ignorant of the Volturi's ruling. What if they also slaughter my nephew?" The woman asks.
"We promise you that no harm will come to you. You have my word," Genevieve tells them.
The man and woman look at each other, and the man nods at her.
"My name is Nahuel, and this is my biological aunt Huilen. Explain your situation to us," Nahuel tells them.
They explained it from the beginning how their brother was mated to a human, and the risks that they took just for him to be with her, and how the honeymoon ended up with the human being pregnant, and she lived throughout the birth, which shocked Nahuel because in his birth he killed his mother.
They explained that their niece was mistaken as an immortal child, that the Volturi decided to take action, and how they left their family clueless of what they were going to do.
"Nahuel, this is dangerous," Huilen warns her nephew.
"Then we shall take the risk. Not only will be the child will be given a life with freedom but also me. I'll never hide in fear again. I can live with no worries of the Volturi finding out of my existence," Nahuel tells his aunt, and the woman just purses her lips and nods.
"We'll go with you," Nahuel tells the two. Genevieve and Alice sigh in relief.
"We only have a day to come back. We must hurry," Alice says to them, and they immediately went back to their home.
IT HAS BEEN A WEEK SINCE GENEVIEVE AND ALICE LEFT. Jasper and Greyson are slowly coping, their witnesses increasing day by day.
Today they are training Bella and her ability to be a shield. Jasper is busying himself by training them. After that, he goes to his and Genevieve's meadow.
He hadn't gone to their bedroom since he wrecked it, and Genevieve's scent was embedded all over the room, and he couldn't take it without having a meltdown. For short, he was a mess without her.
So he decided to clean up just in case Genevieve came back home. Hours of cleaning and fixing the broken furniture, he didn't dare to change the sheet because Genevieve's scent was much stronger there, so he lay in the bed staring at the ceiling until he felt something uncomfortable under the pillow, a book.
The tale of two cities by Charles Dickens, the book that they read together. He flipped through the pages and saw an envelope. He opens it and reveals Genevieve's writing.
My dearest Jasper,
By the time you read this, Alice and I had already left. I'm sorry that I didn't even inform you. I didn't want to say goodbye because it wasn't. Alice saw a vision of the Volturi sending someone to bring me back to them because of the promise I made for my freedom, I tried to convince Alice to take you and Greyson, but you both are more needed there. Just remember this I did not leave you. I will come back to you, always. We will get married after all of this is over, and we will travel the world, wreck many hotel rooms, and taste different kinds of animal blood, I promise you.
Until the snow sticks, my cowboy, we'll be together again as husband and wife, I love you, Jasper Whitlock-Hale, for eternity.
Your future wife,
Genevieve♡
Jasper feels relieved that Genevieve will come back to him, and he'll wait even if it takes him a month, a year, a decade, or even a century.
All that matters is Genevieve will be back.
He hid the letter and went outside where the rest of the family were, Benjamin showing Renesmee his ability to manipulate the elements, Zafrina and her gift of visual illusions, and Kate and her ability to electrocute people.
When two people caught his eye, he smiled at them, the first time he smiled since Genevieve left.
"Major Whitlock," Peter greets while his arm is wrapped around his mate
"Peter, Charlotte, long time no see," Jasper says as he hugs his friend and patts his back.
"Well, you didn't even visit us, and you didn't tell us that you had met your mate," Peter says with a smirk as he crosses his arms.
"I thought you didn't need it because you just know shit," Jasper says while rolling his eyes.
"Hey! It's still nice to tell us, and I know that your family needed witnesses and that Genevieve will pay us a visit back in Houston because you know I just know shit," Peter tells him.
"Genevieve was the one who sent you here?" Jasper asks.
"She did, and she said to give you this," Peter says as he hands him a paper bag.
"How is she? Is she hunting? No headaches? The shadows were giving her a headache all the time. Does she look healthy? Did she take breaks?" Jasper rambles to them.
"Easy there, Major, she's fine, but I know it in her eyes that she misses you just as much you miss her," Peter tells him.
"Where did they go?" Jasper asks.
"She didn't tell us. She knows you too well that you'll persuade us to tell you where they went, and no doubt you'll follow her," Charlotte answers.
"I just miss her," Jasper admits with a sigh.
"She'll come back, soldier trust me," Peter says with a reassuring smile.
Jasper nodded and went back inside with the paper bag. He locks his door and sits on their bed, debating on whether or not he'll open it.
After an hour, he tore the bag and saw Genevieve's cream cardigan with a note.
I love you, Mr.Whitlock.
-Mrs. Whitlock
He held it into his nose and was immediately engulfed by Genevieve's scent, Lavender, which he loved so much. He hugged it to his chest and wore it.
"I love you too, Genevieve."
