YOUR KNIFE CUT THROUGH ONE OF THE FLYING EGGS, it fell to the ground as other two tried to attack you.

you turned your weapon in your hand, slicing around the air as you quickly moved around, effectively making the two other robots explode.

"bad time to say this, but i don't actually have a plan." confessed sonic as he too fought against some of eggman's little creatures.

"again, not surprised" you huffed out as you used both your hands to pierce trough the metal.

the hedgehog ignored your comment, instead asking "tails, any ideas?"

the yellow fox used his gadgets to fire at the small sized enemies, he took a moment to destroy two of them before he answered "we have to find his weak spot."

you jumped in the air, over one of the eggs, you destroyed it with your weapon and you jumped over another to do the same before it exploded behind you.

"i suggest the groin." spoke knuckles.

"what? no, no!" sonic's tone sounded almost alarmed, in another situation you would have probably laughed at that.

"i hate to agree with red but the groin is the weakest spot" you confirmed as you landed back on the ground.

"stop saying 'groin'!" begged the hedgehog.

before any of you could come up with something to say back the giant robot pushed his closed fists in front of himself.

lasers started to shoot from his wrists, barely missing you.

"look out!" called sonic as he used his arms to grab you and drag you away, he positioned you bridal style — it had become an habit now — as he kept running.

the other two aliens were at your sides as you all charged toward eggman.

your glare hardened as you called the name of your yellow friend, he threw you a handmade gun and you started to fire behind their shoulders at the flying eggs.

"i know what his weak spot is." sonic suddenly came to the realization "it's me! i'm the groin!"

"no" you bit back immediately.

it wasn't because you thought he was wrong but because you knew he was right.

you could already imagine one of his hundred-percent-risks plans forming in his mind and the thought alone was making your eyebrows furrow in a scolding manner.

he noticed new eggs flying in your directions and he threw you in the air, you turned around as you shoot them.

knuckles grabbed the hedgehog in his ball form and he threw him against one of the robots, effectively destroying it.

"think about it!" he tried again, already knowing what you were thinking "i live rent-free in this dude's head, so if i go out there and rile him up..."

you both fell back towards the ground, knuckles grabbed you and threw you back into the air, you jumped from one egg to another and they all exploded under your rage.

sonic was grabbed by the fox, which used him to turn fastly in the air and use their bodies to hit them.

the hedgehog grabbed you before you could touch the ground, you went back to your starting positions as they all ran heading to the giant robot.

"he'll focus on only you, leaving himself open to a flanking maneuver from us!" explained the echidna for him "hedgehog, you are a brave and noble warrior! go to your certain death with honor!"

"we're gonna have to work on your pep talks, pal." commented the blue mobian.

tails chuckled, agreeing with him.

"let's go!" sonic was about to throw you into tails' arms but you gripped his fur tightly, denying him his actions.

the other two aliens separated, one going to the left and the other to the right, leaving you two to run alone.

"i'm not leaving you alone with him" you told him, referring to the crazy scientist that was currently trying to rule the whole world.

you watched as he remained silent, a dubious look on his face, "i'm slow but i have my skills" you added.

"i know" he kept his eyes forward "but i'll worry anyway"

you nodded, using your weapons to shoot at three more flying robots behind him "i know" you repeated, voice sincere.

he nodded at your words before he stopped at the giant robot's feet, he looked up as he shouted "all right, mustache! you want me? come and get me!"

eggman started to chase after you, very slowly, but still fast enough to keep up with the blue blur.

your blue alien started to run away from the town, following you suggestion, you ended up in the woods where it was easier to hide from the doctor.

you kept watching his back, destroying every little robot that tried to come to near.

the giant eggman kept following you but sooner or later he ran out of breath, the perfect moment to taunt him a little more.

the hedgehog quickly climbed up the tree, with you on his back, your hands wrapped around his neck as you kept the same stern gaze directed to the big enemy.

robotnik looked up to see you two leaning on a branch of a very tall tree, a familiar smirk plastered on the hedgehog's face.

"yoo-hoo!" called sonic "so what's the plan here? you gonna build a big robot house? get yourself a big robot wife?" he questioned.

you slapped his arm "he leans to the other side, get your facts checked"

he muttered back an honest sorry before he went back to look at the red metal giant standing in front of you.

"i'm going to enslave humanity and force them to service my machines." instead started to explain eggman as he moved his big hands around "first, green hills, then the universe, then the multiverse, then who knows?! maybe that'll be enough."

both yours and sonic's glare hardened at his words, anger boiling inside of you, growing at every word.

"full disclosure? you won't be there." the robot's eyes glowed a bright green as the same laser that came from his wrist started to blast out of his eyes.

it destroyed the tree and it made the hedgehog leap off it and jump back on the grass.

eggman missed you a couple of times, flames following you and sonic's path as the mobian kept running.

an explosion ended up being to near and it made the both of you fly back against a tree, sonic took the hit and you cursed his selflessness under your breath.

he grabbed you back in his arms, smirking again to try and ease the tension in both your hearts.

he looked down at you as he huffed out in a joking manner "eye lasers?! really?!"

you rolled your eyes at his tone, secretly thanking him from trying to make everything feel lighter.

he kept dodging the lasers until he zoomed over a bridge, you could feel him start to run out of breath and you tried to push yourself out of his arms.

"let me go, keep running" you begged as you felt his grip tighten around you.

he knew that if he had left you there robotnik wouldn't have thought twice about taking his chances with you.

because eggman was indeed crazy, but he wasn't a fool.

and he knew that if there was one thing that sonic cared more then anything about it was you, and the doctor knew that the hedgehog would have done anything to keep you safe.

just like you would do for him.

"i'm not leaving you again" he spoke back, trying to push himself over his limits.

he didn't know that you had never put it on him what happened, that you had always saw him at your savior and not your martyr.

suddenly, the giant red head of the robot rose up next to you, at the side of the bridge.

he placed a finger on his right nostril as he aimed his other one at you two, laser coming out and destroying the road under your feet.

"no, no, no! no, no, no!" you and the hedgehog shouted together as he did his best to keep on running.

you turned your head to look back at the doctor just as a new blast came out from his nose.

it caught up to you two, you felt your heart come up in your throat as sonic loosed his grip around you.

the air hit your face as you watched the ground come closer.

you pushed your arms forward, catching his gloved hand in yours.

he started to loose consciousness while you hugged all of him, wanting for once to be the one to protect him from the impact.

wanting for once to be the hero in someone's story.

wanting for once to show him that it was thanks to him if a part of you was good.

wanting to make sure that all that was being left unsaid could be read and understood trough your gestures.

because you wouldn't let him die without showing him what you really felt for him.

because the pain of dying with your back being broken in more parts than you could count was nothing compared to the pain of a life without him.

because he had always been there, even when he wasn't.

and you had always knew that you would have had to repay the favor sooner or later.

for you, my precious.

for the nights sleeping in your arms, for the kisses stole at every given chance, for the look in your eyes when i'm covered in blood.

for him, you died.

and for him, you came back.
