𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗼

YOU LOOKED DOWN AT THE BLUE ENDLESS SEA UNDER THE PLANE, tails had just took off from the beach and while sonic tried to enjoy some last moments of peace your gaze hardened as you stared into the horizon.

you were standing over the top of the plane, where the two wings met, right over tails' head.

on each side there where sonic and knuckles, both using the wing strut to keep themselves from falling.

your own hands gripped the front of the wing as you fought against the wind to stay put.

"i remember something now, knuckles" you told him, not having to look him in the eyes made it easier for you.

the two other mobians shared a look, something mixed between pride and curiosity.

"after this, i'll need a full reminder" you stated over the noises of the propeller.

the echidna nodded to himself before he realized that you couldn't see him "if we are alive i'll be honored to tell you all about our torture experience" he patted his chest with his own fist.

"i see, not any great adventure then" you replayed as you watched one of the rings being thrown in front of the plane.

the portal opened as knuckles confirmed his previous comment "not one, you betrayed me at the end" he added.

you rolled your eyes "maybe i was done with being punched to hell and back"

the echidna scoffed, stare hardening "would have been easier if you just stayed there"

his comment made you furrow your eyebrows, a flash of blood, fights, and sincere laughs filled your senses.

you growled as you tried to push away the terrible headache that came with all the imagines of the past, with every new memory that succeeded on pushing trough the new found wall that circled your mind.

"yeah, you're not the first to think that" your smirk could be heard trough your voice as you stared at the tornado in the distance.

"that can only be one thing" said tails as he took in the surroundings.

"the fearsome power of the emerald" spoke the echidna.

"if that thing really turns thoughts into power, we are in big trouble. robotnik has a lot of bad thoughts." commented sonic as he thought about the dangers of the situation.

"hey sonic" called him tails "are you sure it was a good idea bringing you-know-who aboard?" he asked, worried about the two of you being so near.

"[name] knows that knuckles isn't really a bad guy" explained the hedgehog "he's just a little mixed up."

"i am not mixed up!" denied immediately the echidna "i have steely focus. and i'm complex. and that's a lot for some people."

"i wonder why" you sighed.

tails chuckled nervously at the back of knuckles' head "hope you're not still mad i hit you with that car."

you laughed at the thought.

knuckles scoffed "i was completely uninjured, and my revenge will come when you least expect it, fox."

you punched the wing right above his head, making the red warrior glare at you trough the red metal.

"shut it" you growled trough gritted teeth.

sonic and tails met eyes once again as the hedgehog rethought about his words.

the plane kept flying towards green hills and finally the tornado vanished, a giant egg man robot stand at the center of it.

"how are we supposed to beat this thing?" wondered the fox out loud.

"we need a plan" sonic turned around to speak directly to the red echidna "knuckles, use your strength to..."

he ignored the blue hedgehog as he folded his arms across his chest, he let himself fall back off the plane and he plummeted down to the ground below.

you followed the red dot with your eyes before you turned around to stare at the robot again, one thought passed trough your mind as you decided what to do next.

"...jump off the plane. okay—" spoke sonic blankly "well, this is what we are gonna do." he jumped at your side, on top of the wing.

you both faced the giant eggman as the hedgehog spoke "step on: light taunting. step two: i have no idea."

"why am i not surprised?" you questioned more to yourself.

"because you know me, baby, i always find a way"

"yes, to get your ass kicked" you muttered back, trying to stop the child from hearing you curse.

"uh, oh" let out tails as the robot proceeded to shoot out missiles from its chest.

sonic didn't notice, instead staring dreamily at you as he tried to sound and look cool in your eyes "i'm gonna pop that thing open like a can of chili—"

you pushed his head down as the fox shouted at you to hang on, he turned the plane around in the air effectively dodging all the missiles.

you all turned back to watch the explosions that you were leaving behind, the two aliens laughed happily at the scene and you smiled.

"close one." commented sonic.

one last missile arrived, it hit him and it made him fly away with it, your eyes widened while the yellow fox called for your blue friend.

you were ready to jump out the plane when you stopped yourself, you couldn't leave tails alone, not again.

you sent one last glance at sonic and you noticed that he was giving you a thumb up paired up with a sly smirk "i'm fine babe, go save the world!" he laughed before one last scream left his mouth.

you rolled your eyes, smiling subtly, "c'mon tails, you heard him" you went back to look in front of you at the happily dancing robot.

the fox flew the plane around the robot which tried to catch you with his hands.

thankfully he failed and tails took out the weapons as a pair of machineguns started to shoot at eggman, but with no luck whatsoever.

his armor was too strong.

"tails!" you called, trying to warn him, but it was already to late.

the robot's mustache clammed together, crushing one of the plane's wings and making it fall down toward the empty streets.

you jumped down to the wing to drag the little fox out of his seat, it took you some try but as soon as you succeeded you jumped into the air, he was ready to catch you and he used his twin-tails to fly you two out of the crash.

he made the both of you land safely on the ground and both the hedgehog and the echidna arrived at you side, you four regrouped behind a piece of broken street as you tried to find out what to do next.

"those were our best attacks and they did nothing!" commented the red warrior as he let his eyes move over the three of you "use your thing" he ordered, pointing at you with his fist.

you tilted your head confused as you stared at him with a puzzled look "use your fist to fight, not your head" you suggested sincerely.

"we can't beat robotnik as long as he's got that emerald." commented sadly tails, something tugged in your chest at the expression on his face "he's too powerful."

your hand landed on his back, patting his fur as you turned back to look at the other aliens.

"look" started to speak sonic "we aren't strong enough to beat robotnik on our own, but there's four of us." he turned to knuckles "your strength..." he turned to tails "your smarts"

his green orbs landed on you, you were reminded of the peaceful moment in front of the aurora borealis, you were reminded of the ways he looked at you with something more then simple softness.

the way it used to scared you what you felt for him in your heart, the way in ten years you had never forget his smell nor his voice, the way the softness of his blue fur had always a place in your mind.

you had always had him and he would always have you.

"your skills" he added, something unsaid burned on his tongue, but you both knew it wasn't the right time.

"and my speed, together." he looked at the red and yellow aliens to focus on his point "that's how we win." he was determined to do it, to save green hills.

to save the world.

knuckles looked at you, at the way you and sonic had the same look in your eyes, the way you were ready to do whatever it took to do the right thing.

you may had forgotten what you could really do, but it hadn't made you any weaker.

"so we make our stand here on the field of battle." he said.

tails brought his fist up as he smiled "as a team!"

"this is it." sonic spoke as you all rose up to your feet, walking toward the giant eggman while you all stared angrily at him as you took your stances.

"this is our moment!"

i actually wanted to rewrite the whole book because my writing has changed a lot and i have to force myself to keep it the same as the other chapters, soooo...
maybe i'll finish this arc then i'll write the third one with my new found skills and then i'll come back to change the first two arcs... idkkkk
