𝘀𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁

EGGMAN WAS TRYING TO CATCH TAILS, the little fox cried out in distress while dodging the shootings and the red lasers coming from the robots.

you were rolling down the mountain, your body resembled a ball as you let gravity drag you down.

you were going faster and faster, and when you felt like you were near enough you jumped up in the air, ending up on one of the flying drones.

you heard the mustache-doctor scream something like an annoyed 'come on!' as he watched you destroy one of his little toys.

you jumped on the other, using your weight to turn it towards the main ship — and to the man wearing the stupid red suit — trying to land an hit.

it didn't fully work but the explosion at its side was enough to make eggman loose control of the machine, even if it was just for a small moment, and you jumped back down on the snow as you used a piece of the drone as a snowboard.

yes, you were copying your favorite hedgehog.

tails followed you quickly, he flew right above you as you tried to push forward, away from the doctor who was currently cursing your name.

you looked over your shoulder to see him turn around in the air, smoke coming from the side of the egg he was seating on.

when you turned back to the front your gaze landed on two dots, one red and the other blue, discussing right near the edge.

you used a small rock as a ramp and you jumped into the air, your eyes focused on the two aliens.

you landed back in the ground and you quickly looked up to the yellow fox hovering above you, he tilted his head down and he smiled at you.

you called his name and you pointed to the echidna warrior, he understood and he nodded at your order.

he flew faster, leaving you some meters behind, you watched as knuckles was tied up with tails' electric ropes while you used the snow to stop right at the hedgehog's side.

"sonic! are you okay?" questioned the yellow mobian, his tails keeping him high in the air.

"deceiver" accused the echidna as he struggled to get out the wires.

you scoffed at his attempt to escape and at his dramatic act, while the blue mobian was quick to justify himself "it wasn't a trick!"

finally the red warrior broke the yellow chains and your look hardened as he took a fighting stance.

"tails, take the compass and get out of here!" sonic tossed the compass to the flying fox, who in return opened his palm to try and grab the item.

but, before that could happen, robotnik passed in front of tails, grabbing the compass before the fox.

"later, haters!" he called as he flew away, his ship shoot a couple of rockets that aimed straight to tails.

you watched in horror as the force of the explosion threw him away, he fell toward the ground with closed eyes and you ran at his side.

you crouched down, your fingers caressing his cheeks as you looked at his unconscious body.

suddenly you tilted your head back up as you looked right into the doctor's orbs.

you watched him visibly shiver at your gaze, in the meantime sonic had zoomed to the other side of your injured friend and he was trying to get him up.

your look couldn't exactly be deciphered by the bald man but he knew that it wasn't anything pleasant, he chuckled nervously as you laid there, watching him.

knuckles launched himself back onto the side of the ship, his fingers gripping the border as he stared down at your expression.

"tails, come on." the hedgehog's voice made you blink and you turned your focus back to the sleeping fox "wake up." he begged.

you felt the ground shake under your feet and you noticed the snow starting to fall down in your direction.

an avalanche had formed and it was about to reach you.

you heard the blue mobian breathing speed up and you knew that he was starting to get scared.

'no, no, no' he repeated over and over as he gently shook the body of the fox. "okay, we're in real trouble here."

your eyes were trained to the advancing snow as an idea formed in your mind, a stupid idea that he would have never listened too.

"come on, tails. i need you to fly her out of here." he spoke again "time to wake up." but the eyes of the fox remained shut.

you grabbed his shoulder and the aurora borealis of the night before stared right back at you, a sad hue mixed with it.

"you grab him and run." you ordered, leaving no room for arguments.

but he could always find a space to fight back against a plan that he didn't like, especially if your safety was at risk.

he rolled his eyes "no." he replied, going back to try and wake the third alien up.

you grabbed both his shoulder, forcing him to look back at you.

"yes" he opened his mouth to try and protest but you shook your head and you spoke over him again "you save him and you go."

he huffed out, annoyed with your desire of dying — not like he was famous for being careful — and your hardhead.

"you two are my everything" you admitted softly "i need you to bring him back to maddie and tom, and keep him safe"

he glanced at the avalanche as it started to pick up speed and his eyebrows shoot up, he grabbed your cheek, leaving a peck on your lips and smiling brightly at you.

"you're a genius babe!" he chuckled before he vanished in a blue blur.

he grabbed you and he put you over one of the handmade snowboards, he pushed you down as he grabbed the unconscious body of tails before he followed your path.

you blinked in surprise when you found yourself snowboarding down the mountain, he was at your side, doing the same.

he grabbed his phone as he pushed himself near you, your fingers intertwining so he could keep you close to him.

he called donut lord, the phone ringing in his hands, you both waited a couple of moments before the call was ended, your groan echoed trough the mountains.

you looked behind your shoulder at the snow before you turned back to watch in front of you.

sonic tried again but this time, as the phone rang, you motioned for him to give it to you and he threw it into your hands.

you wrote a message in big capital letters before you hit send and you threw it back at the hedgehog at your side.

SOS!!! CALL NOW!!!! — that's what you had wrote and what had finally made tom call back.

"what?!" you heard the man scream from the other side of the phone "this better be important. i just..." you heard his tone falter and you knew he had started to notice some things "you skiing?" he questioned.

"snowboarding, actually." replied sonic, you roared his name and it made him focus back on the real reason behind the call "but we need your help now. life or death situation this very second. i need you to use the ring i gave you to save me. like right now!"

you looked behind again, you could feel the cold coming from the snow and it made you worry for the yellow fox laying over sonic's shoulder.

"okay, slow down, slow down." tried the man, his name echoed from your lips and it made him nervously talk back "i don't even know where you are."

"you just gotta picture where you want the ring to go." he turned the phone around, showing tom the hillside you were currently snowboarding on "so picture this."

the man started to talk frantically "oh, my god. okay, okay. hang on."

"on what? hang on on what?" you shouted back angrily, for the first time you sounded almost scared and it made the hedgehog think about the real reasons behind your new found emotion.

it definitely wasn't for yourself, you had made very clear that your death wasn't something that gave you the creeps, not even in the slightest.

but his? his death? maybe that was a completely different story, it most definitely was.

and if you threw the yellow fox into the mix, well, he could see why you had been going back and forth between looking over your shoulder and in front of you.

you were afraid for him, for them.

"what?" tom shouts broke the hedgehog from his trance, he stared back down at the screen as he talked "did you throw it?" he asked.

"oh, god." you heard donut lord mutter.

with your fear growing, sonic's anxiety followed behind, he stammered over his words as he tried to understand what was happening on the other side of the world "what?- what? tell me wh-what 'oh, god.'"

you screamed the man's name again and it made him immediately answer back "i- i think i mixed up the rings when i was teasing jojo." he explained.

the blue mobian started to panic "what? where is it then? where is it?!" he spoke fast.

"you don't want to know." he murmured.

"oh, but i do, tom." sonic angry replied while the man sighed at the realization "i very much want to know, before we become a mobius-flavored snow cone."

tom looked back at the screen, glancing softly at the two of you "hang tight, buddies. i got this." he promised you, and the phone call ended.

sonic groaned annoyed, murmuring a small and fast prayer as he noticed the edge of the mountain get closer and closer.

his fingers squeezed yours tightly, and it made you look into the green of his eyes, a sweet stare on his face.

it wasn't time to loose hope, he repeated over and over in his head, he knew you were all going to be okay.

but he still wanted you to know that he was at your side, always, even when the snow reached you three, even when the ring finally opened and when your eyes closed as you passed trough the portal.

black over took your vision as your body started to feel cold, a freezing sensation that made you numb spreading over your body.

back into the hole.
