𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗱 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻

THE MUSIC FROM THE STEREO MADE YOU HUM TO YOURSELF, your hips swung side to side as you walked around.

you dug inside the pockets of the drunk men laying unconscious on the ground, searching for something useful.

behind you, sitting on the table on the other side of the room, tails impulsively hugged sonic.

the hedgehog was left with an open mouth at the demonstration of affect "whoa-ho-ho! coming in hot." he grabbed the fox, gently pushing him away from himself.

the yellow mobian shyly looked down, silence followed, the hedgehog left his eyes wonder to you "she always talks about you" he smiled as he watched you mutter the words of the song, your feet moving along the beat.

the double tailed fox noticed the soft look in the other alien's eyes and he cleared his throat to grab the oldest attention "growing up, i didn't have any friends. everyone in my village thought my two tails were weird."

"hey, i know that feeling." admitted the hedgehog, worried.

"but then she arrived at my door, the deadliest creature in the galaxy. she was weird too." he pointed with his hand to your figure "but she protected me. that made me think, maybe being weird isn't so bad. she inspired me to leave my village, to find you and help you in your mission." he confessed as he looked into the green orbs at his side.

"we are really glad you're here, tails." spoke the hedgehog.

"i'm glad i'm here too, sonic." replied the fox.

you stepped towards the two of them as they both jumped of the desk, you held a bag full of someone' things in your hand.

the hedgehog yawned "well, might as well get some sleep." his fingers intertwined with yours "this feels like a good place to spend the night."

you nodded back, his nose nuzzling against your cheek, you pushed yourself away from him with a teasing smile.

you patted tails' head as he passed in front of you to lay down near the fireplace, you threw the little bag near him before you searched around for a blanket.

the hedgehog cleared his throat in his fist, he turned around to help you with your research "he'll be able to get clear readings on his gizmo thing once the storm is over, so i..."

when his eyes landed back on the rug you were crouching down near the fox, laying the blanket to cover his body before you kissed him on his forehead.

the two tailed alien was sleeping, but a small smile formed on his face as your lips connected with his fur.

you pushed yourself back up before you moved your focus, and your body, towards the blue mobian in front of you, his hands landed at your sides as he observed your face.

the corners of your mouth tilted upwards, your arms went around his neck and your head tilted slightly to the side.

'what?' you asked inside your mind.

and — like always — he understood you, even without words.

he chuckled shaking his head "nothing" he whispered before he hugged you tightly, your arms rested still as you looked in the distance.

it took a moment for your brain to realize what he was doing and even more to accept it, you let your head lean against his as your grip tightened around his shoulders.

when you parted, slowly, he grabbed your hand and he started to drag you toward the door "i have something to show you" he admitted happily.

he vanished for a moment and then a fast blur moved all around you, seconds later you were covered head to toe with layers of clothes.

sonic was wearing the same things, just a different color, and he stepped in front of you as he finished zipping up the jacket.

his fingers brushed against your chin and then they were back around your hand, only then you realized that you were now wearing gloves.

he grabbed you bridal style — he really liked to do that — and he ran outside, when he finally let you down you noticed that you had ended up on the roof.

you wanted to look at the horizon covered in snow but your head couldn't turn away from him "why are we here?" you whispered.

your breath formed a small cloud, the cold hit your nose, making you shiver under the layers that he had covered you with.

you noticed green and purple hues on the hedgehog's face and he glanced behind your shoulders "because of this" he replied, his hand pointed towards the sky.

you tilted your head upwards, your eyes opening wide at the beautiful image in front of you.

different colors dancing in the black abyss, forming something so gorgeous that for a moment you thought that you had been dreaming.

you smiled even if your mouth was open in surprise, a giggle left your lips as you followed the lights as they painted the wide sky.

"wow" you awed, emerald eyes taking in your reaction and burning it into his mind, you stepped nearer his side "how-" your voice got caught in your throat.

"tails" he answered back, his white gloved hand brought you warmth and you squeezed your fingers around his.

he finally forced his eyes to let go of your face, watching the spectacle above him instead of the beauty by his side.

"aurora borealis" his hot breath hit your cheek "it can be seen only in some places" he explained, letting his words linger there as he kept on staring up.

you let him admire the beautiful view for a couple of moments before your hand cupped his face, gently turning him in your direction.

you bit your lip, almost shyly, something that you weren't used to feel "your eyes are green like the aurora borealis" you confessed, like it was a secret that only you two were supposed to know.

"-like the green emerald, or like the fields during spring" you kept going, slowly whispering your sweetest thoughts.

your thumb caressed his cheek as he stared at your lips while you spilled out comparisons.

"thank you" you finished, pecking him on the lips and nuzzling your nose against his neck.

he held you tightly, worrying that you could vanish from his grasp and that he would have been forced to realize that he was right back where he had started,

alone.

silence fell over the two of you as you tried to keep each others warm, your sugary coated thoughts softened your heart a little more and it dragged the hedgehog closer to you.

letting him inside the walls that you had developed after all those years.

"like the green emerald uh?" he teased after you had pulled away, a roll of eyes followed by your smirk made him let out a chuckle.

you tried to turn away but he grabbed your arm and he put you back in your spot, your orbs meeting again.

he smiled and that made you remember of his tender smile from when he was littler and he didn't know about the horrors of the world.

you remembered those times together, every single one of them.

you vividly remembered the tortures, or at least that's what you had thought, but after the latest encounter with the red echidna you couldn't be so sure anymore.

you took a deep breath and you looked away from the infinite fields of green in front of you.

he tried to follow your look with a tilt of his head but he failed, and he watched worried as your eyebrows slightly furrowed.

"i think i know knuckles, or i used to" you confessed, glancing back into the green eyes.

the pair widened slightly, and he used a couple of fingers to push your chin back up as he asked you "how?" as soft as he could.

"lately i have some flashes-" you pushed yourself away from his body, afraid that you might drag him down into your hole if you kept him too close "-of the past"

he kept still and silent, letting you arrange your thoughts and your words and giving you all the time you needed.

you turned back around, because you didn't want to drag him down into the dark but he was your only source of light.

he let you find him in the abyss, he moved his hand in front of him for you to take, you let your soul use it as an anchor as you spoke.

"i think my brain purposefully blurred out my childhood to try and help me heal" you explained, a worried look casting over the hedgehog's face.

a question appeared in his mind, maybe not the most important, but for sure one that he needed to know the answer of "did you ever forgot about me?" he breathed out.

you shook your head quickly, squeezing his hand as you tried to stop his mind from thinking about that.

"never."

i don't think that you can actually see the aurora borealis there in siberia but for the sake of this story we're gonna act like that is 100% true ;)
