who receives the action call. . . . .

ELIZABETH THORP, HEADMISTRESS OF HOLLOW HILL BOARDING SCHOOL, WAS SEATED IN FRONT OF A CRYSTAL BALL. Under normal circumstances, she wouldn't rely on a Seer's help. However, the Fairytale Council had just decreed that their world was in grave danger. The Council had asked her to find the most suitable children of their world to take up the responsibility of saving it. Hence, her current status of staring into a crystal ball.

"I don't see anything," she said, growing irritated. "Can't you just hurry this process up?"

The Seer scowled at her but said nothing. Go figure. She huffed and crossed her arms. She was on a time crunch, yet this Seer couldn't even bother to see that. She switched positions so she could drum her fingers on the desk, taking the time to look out the window. She feared that it would be one of her last views of complete peace.

After the Council asked her to handpick their saviors, she put in a lot of thought. There were some obvious choices, like Indiana Jones's son, Peter and Wendy's son and daughter, as well as Giselle and Robert's daughter. And, there were some obvious nos as well. She definitely didn't want Artemis Fowl Jr. to have anything to do with this. He would scare everyone away. She adored Sally and Jack's son and his weirdness, but she wasn't entirely sure how the rest of the children would interact with him. There was much to ponder.

After ten minutes of waiting, the Seer finally said, "I have found something."

Elizabeth perked up, her eyes widening. "Yes?" she asked. "What is it? Who will lead this quest?"

"I do not think you will like what I am about show you," the Seer replied.

"Please, just tell me."

The Seer pursed her lips, waving her hand in front of the crystal ball. As Elizabeth watched, the horror she dreaded began to form before her eyes. A tall boy in a black suit and aviator sunglasses surfaced in the forefront of the ball. He was wearing his characteristic satisfied smirk. She had seen it many times, not just on him, but on both of the Artemis Fowls who came before him. Her blood turned cold as she stared at him. He was the last person she wanted involved with saving their world. She had never trusted his father or grandfather. And he had proved to be no different. All of his family line disgusted her. She bowed her head, making a silent promise to herself that she would stop him at all costs.

"I told you," said the Seer.

Elizabeth forced a smile, making her look like she had lock jaw. "No matter," she murmured. "I'll make sure he's notified right away."

The Seer watched her carefully. "Do not threaten the boy. He is not his father, Elizabeth. I know Artemis Fowl Sr. broke your heart, but this boy has nothing to do with that. In nature, he is like is father. But in nurture, he is purely his mother. Do not harm him."

"Don't worry," she said. "There are worse things planned for him in the future."

"I am serious, Elizabeth!"

Elizabeth rolled her eyes. "I'm assuming the Kids in the Corner will be accompanying him?"

The Seer eyed her wearily. "You will have the full list of children in three days time. You must tell them of the danger they will be in. It is not for the faint of heart."

"Oh, don't worry, Seer. I have a plan."
