I. A note

MAVIS YAWNED as she sat up, her jet black hair fell over her face making her look like the ring, she pushed it back before swinging her legs out of the bed and stood up, the cold air quickly Warps around her, she grabbed her Dressing grown slips it on, Before walking out of the room and down the hallway where her mother is looking around,

"Where the hell are they" Joyce shouts as Mavis walks in yawning, As she looks around

"Jonathan!"

"Check the couch! Morning Mav!" Jonathan shouts as She sits down at the table Yawning still,

"Ugh, I did" Joyce whines as Mavis looks at her mother who's rooting around the couch,

"Oh... got them"

Mavis shakes her head at her mother and her keys

"Okay sweetie, I'll see you tonight" Joyce says as she kisses Mavis's head before walking to Jonathan and rubbing his shoulder before grabbing something off the table

"Yeah, see you later"

"Where's a will?" Joyce asked as Mavis almost spit out her orange juice,

"Oh I didn't get him up yet, he's probably still sleeping," Jonathan says softly as Mavis digs into the food that Jonathan kindly made for her,

"Jonathan, you have to make sure he's up!" Joyce signs as Mavis drunks her orange juice

"Mom, I'm making breakfast, plus Mavis is up early for the first time in weeks" Jonathan says as Mavis sticks her tongue out at him,

"Mavis, have you taken your tablets?" Joyce asked making Mavis groan,

"Do I have to?" Mavis asked as Joyce shook her head at her youngest daughter,

"Yes you have to take it, will! Come on hunny, it's time to get up" Joyce says as She walks down the hall, Jonathan looks at Mavis before handing her an orange bottle, making her whine, she opens it and pours one into her hand before Placing it in her mouth and slowly drinking her orange juice, Mavis has to take them, as she has low iron, she did like it? No, she didn't,

"He came home last night, right?" Joyce asked as Mavis Washes her dish before looking at her mother,

"He's not in his room?" Mavis asked a guilty feeling lingering in her stomach, as she looked at her mom,

"Did he come home last night? Mavis hunny, did will come home last night?" Joyce asked as Mavis takes a deep breath in,

"I didn't hear him, maybe he slept at mikes" Mavis shrugged pushing the guilty feeling away,

"I don't know" Jonathan muttered as Mavis walked past them and down the hallway and into her room, she grabbed a black and Blue plaid shirt that hugged her body perfectly, she also grabbed some dark blue Dungarees and slipped her Feet in before pulling them up and doing the buttons, before grabbing a black Chain belt and Tightened it around her waist, making her smile, and she bends down and grabs some mix match stocks one has a small hole in, but she didn't mind, she grabs her black dirty muddy converse and slides them on before Grabbing a hair brush and brushing through her hair,

She Grabs her school back and Walkman and rushes out of her room almost banging into the wall due to her speed, she rushes out of the door grabs her bike Rushes off and hops on, she lifts her legs as she rides down a hill, where Three boys could be seen,

"Mav!" they all shout as Mavis Slides Her bike making some dust fly up at them and making them cough,

"Whoops" Mavis says with a chuckle as the Boys all shake their heads before driving off Mavis follows,

Mavis Slows down as they enter the school grounds, they all drive past a yellow school bus, A young boy walks out, pulling his Walkman away from his ears, He looks at Mavis and the boys all drive off, Mavis looks at him not focusing on the road and Grunts as she lands into a tree,

"Mav! You ok?" Mike asked as he rushed over dragging his bike along,

"I'm fine, just a little cut" Mavis chuckled as she slowly stood up and picked up her bike, as soon as she Stood up a sharp pain went through her leg making her hiss,

"Let's go" she whispered as she looked over her shoulder and saw that boy looking at her mouth agape, Mavis shook her head as she walked off well not walking more like limped away, she placed her bike into bike holders, and ran her hands through her hair,

"That wired I don't see him" Mike says as Mavis looks at him blinking,

"Who's not here?" Mavis asked that the guilty feeling coming back to her, making her feel sickly,

"Will," Mike says as Mavis looks at him,

"I think he was sick this morning, so that's why he won't be coming," Mavis says lying through her teeth, as they walk,

"Step right up, ladies and gentlemen," A voice says as Mavis groans not wanting to deal with anyone today, they all slowly spin around, and Mavis looks at him up and down,

"Step right up and get your tickets for the freak show, who do you think would make more money in a freak show?"

"Midnight, frog face, toothless or Pyscho" Troy chuckled as Mavis scoffed, smoke came out of her ears as she rolled her hands into a fist,

"I go with toothless," the other boy says mocking Dustin, Mavis looks at Dustin with a frown, she places her hand on his shoulder giving him comfort,

"I told you a million times, my teeth are coming in, it's called cleidocranial dysplasia" Dustin explains as Mavis Scrunches up her nose,

"I told you a million times," the boy from before says still mocking Dustin,

"Do the arm thing" Troy says as Mavis Looks at Dustin as he takes his Jacket off,

"Do it freak!" They say as Dustin cracks his shoulders making the two boys gag and groan, Mavis smirks at their reaction, as Dustin slips his jacket back on,

"God, it's got me every time" Tory groans as he pushes past them, making Mavis Thin her lips, as she watches that boy from before walking into the school, and the older boy with him making some kids smile and wave at him as he walks,

"Assholes," Lucas says Snapping Mavis out of her thoughts,

"I think it's kinda cool, it's like you have superpowers or something," Mavis and Mike say making them look at each other blinking, before they could argue Lucas and Dustin pull them away, making them whine as he does,

"Like Mr, fantastic" Mike adds as Mavis walks,

"Yeah, except I can't fight evil with it," Dustin adds again making Mavis thin her lips just wanting this day to be over,

The bell rings making Mavis Blink as she Lift her head from her arms, she grabs her bag and slips her books in yawning,

"Remember, finish chapter 12!" Mr Clark says as Mavis nods and runs her fingers through her hair,

"and answer 12.3 on the difference between an experiment and other forms of science investigations, this will be on the test, which will cover chapters 10 Through 12" Mr Clark adds as Mavis walks out of the room, yawning again she hates school, she hates getting up,

She walks down the hall away Head down, Hand tightly warped around her brown beaten-up bag, She Continues to walk head down before she gets to her locker, She puts sun the code and Opens the red metal door, she grabs her Pencil case and Takes a few out for the day, She Look over her locker noticing a small white note scrunched up, her head tilted as she slowly picks it up, and opens it,

Mavis Looks over her shoulder and then back at the Note, before scrunching it up and putting it into her pocket before slamming her locker shut, she looks at Fraser who's watching her sharply, Mavis Takes a deep breath in as she looks away and continues to walk,

"Excuse me, Miss! We need you in the office" a man says stopping Mavis in her tracks,

"Now please" Mavis nodded and walked with the man towards the office, As soon as she got there she noticed the boys chatting,

"Hey! Shut up," Mavis says snapping them all out of the talking, before sitting next to Mike,

"You, you said he takes what?" The offer asked as Mavis spoke up "Mirkwood"

"Mirkwood?" The offer asked head tilting

"Yeah," Mavis says looking at the boys confused as they all gently nod at her letting her know she doing it right,

"Have you ever heard of Mirkwood?"

"I have not, that sounds made up to me"

Mavis Looks at Lucas,

"No, it's from the lord of the Rings" Lucas smiles as Mavis nods "Well the Hobbit"

"It doesn't matter," Lucas says as Dustin Looks at him, "he asked!"

"He asked!" Lucas says mocking Dustin

"Shut up!" Mavis and Mike say as she crosses her arms and gently kicks Lucas and Dustin,

"Hey! Hey! Hey! What did I just say" the offer asked as Mavis gulped,

"One at a damn time" Mavis looks at the boys and then at the officer blinking

"Mirkwood, it's a real road, it's just the name that's made up, it's where Cornwallis and Kerley meet"

"Yeah, all right, I think I know that--"

"We can show you if you want?" Mavis asked as they turned their attention to her,

"Your Mavis Byers? We need to speak to you alone" The other man says making Mavis nod, she slowly stands up and walks out one of the officers following her,

"So Miss Byers," he says as Mavis looks up at him,

"Just Mavis is fine" she softly reminds him making him nod,

"Was you home when your brother got home?" He asked getting ready to write anything down,

"I was... I heard the dog barking so I Went and looked and the door was wide open with the phone hanging off the wall, like he was trying to call someone" Mavis explained as she remembered what she could, from the night,

"Ok... and what were you doing at this time"

"I was asleep... but before that, I was writing" Mavis Adds with a soft smile,

"Writing? Well, I know a publisher, who would be happy to help" the man says looking at Mavis her smile is large as she thinks about the opportunity of getting a book published,

"But first, I need you to tell me anything about your brother," Mavis nods as she begins to speak,
