ย THE SEPTEMBER WINDS brushed past, subtly, touching the leaves of the trees in the gentlest manner. The distant hustle of the people, making their way for their daily work, children running past each other, and dogs barking, could be heard by Harry as he sat on the old bed, which was covered with a thin sheet of dust. His hands caressed the rusty old pages, now fading in color but not emotion.ย
ย "It's all yours, of course," said Sirius, smiling a sad but warm smile, his hands folded.ย "It's a shame I spent more time with you and they did. They would have been proud of you." His eyes twinkled in a sad manner, almost as if they were to tear up due to the thought of his beloved friends.ย
ย "Yeah, I know," said Harry, flipping through the pages that contained pictures that moved. But they weren't just any pictures, they were the pictures of James and Lily, Harry's parents who died bravely for saving their child. Lily and James, the best friends one would ever have. "You've told me that before."
ย "Ah, I have said that, haven't I?" said Sirius, sitting beside Harry and taking the book of pictures from his hand, looking at the pictures and reminiscing the good days when everything was just how it was supposed to be. "Well, it's true enough to be repeated." He looked at a picture of a redhead and a boy with messy dark hair, his lips involuntarily breaking into a smile.
Silence followed his words for a while.ย
"How- why did she?" said Harry suddenly, after a long pause from Sirius's side, his eyes still fixed on the photograph, so full of emotion and love for his friends, even now. "Why did she go out with him? She hated him." He was confused, "If my mother loathed his father, why would she marry him?"
ย "Nah," said Sirius, looking at Harry with a large grin. "She didn't hate him. Not really." His hands turned the book to a page of two Hogwarts students, probably in their last year, smiling at each other while a much younger Sirius and Remus smirking at James from behind. The portrait itself depicted more enthusiasm and hopefulness than everything combined at this point in life.
ย And at once, Sirius Black was taken back to 1977, when friends were all you needed in life. When there was trust and the company of your loved ones. But most importantly, there was hope. The grey eyes of Sirius Black weren't haunting, the scars on the body and soul had not been embedded brutally along with tears. A place where one would die to be.ย

* Gryffindor Dorms, Hogwarts; 1977 *
THE SEVENTH YEARย Gryffindor boy's room was unusually quiet. It was deafening, as James Potter twirled his wand absent-mindedly, and Sirius Black looked skeptically towards his best friend to Remus Lupin, his boyfriend. As his eyes catch Remus's, he made anย gesture towards James but Remus puts a finger onto his lips as to quieten the already quiet boy. Sirius gave him a grim look, his eyes flickering to Peter who was sleeping with his mouth open, and shook his head.ย
ย "Enough!" He said, losing his control, kicking the side of the bed in annoyance, wincing when his toe hurt. "What's doing on?",ย he asked James who was still lost in his own world. Remus sighed, hiding his face behind his book. Sirius looked at James expectantly.
"Did you," he said slowly, getting up, his hands out and back a little bent, making sure to use correct words - something Remus had suggested him to do - and trying not to freak out. "get someone pregnant?" He looked at James with an expectant expression, hoping for some response but he received none.
"Worse," sighed Remus, standing up as well, putting his book on the desk, looking at Sirius dead in the eye. "He told Brown that he'd get Lily to go out with him by tomorrow and if he doesn't, he won't ask her again." If Remus had been expecting Sirius to worry about his friend, he was wrong. Sirius grinned at James, a glint evident in his eye.ย
ย "You go, mate!" He said, cheering, dancing in an awkward manner. Remus groaned at his childishness. "Evans is going to say yes this time, I know it." He looked at James but he was still not listening, he was lost in his valley of thoughts. Who could guess what was going through his head? For the usually loud and arrogant James Fleamont Potter was insecure. Why? He was scared. What if Lily turned down again? He would never be able to ask her out again.ย ย
"But," Sirius said, his cheer not a leash bit affected by no response from others. "when did this happen, mate? Where was I?" At his question, Remus let out an irritated groan.
"You would've been stable enough to understand what was happening last night if you had not been dancing on the top of the common room table after getting drunk," Remus said, staring at Sirius with a nasty look on his face. The fact that he had been doing all that, seemed to brighten Sirius even more - if that was possible.
"Was I?", said Sirius, grinning ear to ear. James looked at Sirius with saddened eyes, his usual cocky demeanor all gone.
"Mate, I messed up", he said, pulling his hair with his hand in anticipation.ย
ย "No, you did not!" declared Sirius. "Evans lurves you, she's going to go out with you, we'll see, Prongs!"ย
ย James did not want anything else to happen. But would she go out with him? He had no idea.ย

LILY EVANS was being sent furious glares and blank stares along with nasty looks everywhere. Why one might ask, is the popular beloved girl being the center of all those looks? Well, you see, it might have something to do with her agreeing to go out with James Potter. You might be surprised, just like everyone else was. When James Potter, with all due respect, not calling herย 'Oye Evans!', and had maturely asked her out in front of the whole school, she kissed his cheek and asked him about the date and time.ย
He happily obliged, though he was astounded that she didn't hex him. The only person who knew why she said agreed was Marlene McKinnon - Lily's fellow Gryffindor friend and dormmate. She was the one in whom Lily had confided in, during their third year, that she had a crush on that 'toerag' Potter, because, after all, one must admit he is very charming, dashing, smart, loyal, caring, and loving. Of course, being the amazing friend she is, she told her to accept when he asked her out and agreed to keep quiet until it was all over. But that immature Potter didn't have the sense to ask her properly, and she never gave in. But after all those years, when love grew and the lovebirds matured; when he finally expressed himself properly, she accepted. And that was the start of the tragic yet deep story of the Potters.ย

ย SIRIUS BLACK closed his eyes, his eyes still moist, and wiped away a few stray tears pouring down his cheeks before smiling weakly at Harry. He missed them, he terribly did. He would always mourn the fiery redhead and the arrogant Gryffindor chaser.ย
Until the very end.ย ย
