Revelation
I watched as Godzilla limped toward the water, his massive form moving with an unusual sluggishness. Something about his posture told me the battle had drained him more than he'd let on. Despite the lingering tension in the air, I couldn't shake the sense of unease building within me. As I circled, I lowered my head slightly, my wings cutting through the thick air, and called out to him.
"Hey, Gojira, where is Ghidorah?"
Godzilla paused for a moment, his gaze locked on the horizon before he gave a sharp huff of breath. "He fled like the coward he is."
I felt my brows furrow as I hovered in place. "Did you defeat him?" I pressed, landing on the shore not far from him. The salty spray of the ocean swirled around me, the air thick with tension and the remnants of battle.
Godzilla came to a stop just before the tide, turning his head to meet my eyes. His deep, gravelly voice rumbled through the air. "No," he said, his tone carrying an edge I wasn't used to. "But he told me something interesting. He said that you are one of his kind. Is that true?"
I froze, the words hanging in the air like a sharp blade. My heart skipped a beat, and I felt a cold chill wash over me, the very idea unsettling in the pit of my stomach. My wings stiffened as I glanced at him, disbelief flashing across my face.
"What?" I choked out, my voice barely more than a hiss. "No. I'm a dragon through and through."
The weight of his words lingered in the air between us, but I refused to give them any more thought. Ghidorah could say whatever he wanted. I knew who I was. I was nothing like him. I was a dragon.
But even as I dismissed the thought, I couldn't help the faint stir of doubt at the back of my mind. What if there was some truth in his words? What if Ghidorah knew something I didn't?
I shook my head, dismissing it. I would never allow myself to be bound to that creature. I spread my wings wide, letting the sea breeze ruffle my scales as I looked at Godzilla, determined to move forward.
"He's lying," I growled, my voice more sure now. "And if he shows his face again, he won't live to tell another lie."
Godzilla remained silent, his massive frame casting a shadow over me as he gazed back at the ocean, as if lost in his own thoughts.
With a flick of my tail, I launched myself back into the sky, my wings cutting through the air as I turned my attention back to the task at hand. Ghidorah could wait. I had more important things to deal with now.
SCENEBREAK
I approached the familiar waterfall, the sound of rushing water filling the air. The mist clung to my scales as I landed softly on the slick rocks. Beneath the surface, I could sense the presence I had been expecting—the ancient, serene energy that was Mothra. She had always been a constant in this chaotic world, a protector, a guide.
I dipped beneath the water, my wings folding tightly against my body as I moved deeper into the cavern. The cool, cavernous space opened up before me, and there she was—her massive wings unfurling with a soft, resonant hum. They glowed with an ethereal, blue iridescence, shimmering like the light of a thousand stars.
"Hello, princess," Mothra purred, her voice warm and melodic. She raised her head, and we touched foreheads in a gesture of affection and respect.
"Hello, Mothra," I said, my voice quieter in her presence, the weight of her wisdom settling over me. "How are you?"
She smiled, her delicate antennae flicking slightly as she tilted her head. "Just fine now that our king is awake," she replied. Her wings fluttered lightly, and the iridescence grew brighter for a moment. "Tell me, did he fight Ghidorah?"
I nodded, the memory of the battle still fresh in my mind. "Yes, he did."
"Did he win?" Mothra's voice was gentle but inquisitive, her massive form hovering slightly above the water.
I hesitated, uncertainty creeping into my chest. "I don't know," I admitted, my wings twitching slightly. "I was focused on the humans."
Mothra's expression shifted, and her wings fluttered in disappointment. The air around us seemed to grow heavier as she shook her head, her gossamer-white wings shifting gracefully behind her. "Syra, I told you," she said, her tone soft yet firm. "Do not focus on the prey. They are cute, yes, but Godzilla is our true king. He is the one you should be focusing on—he is the Alpha."
Her words struck me like a blow, the weight of them settling deep within my chest. I knew what she meant. The humans were distractions—fragile and fleeting, insignificant in the grand scheme of things. But in my desire to protect them, to shield them from the titans' chaos, I had lost sight of the bigger picture.
I looked up at Mothra, the depth of her wisdom reflected in her serene expression. She was right. Godzilla was the one who commanded true power, the force that held this fractured world together, even in its darkest hours.
"I understand," I said quietly, lowering my head in respect. "I will not forget again."
Mothra nodded, the iridescent glow of her wings brightening once more as she lifted her head. "Good. Our world is changing, Syra. Do not let yourself be distracted from the true path. Only by standing with Godzilla will we truly have a chance at restoring balance."
I took in her words, feeling a newfound resolve settle within me. Godzilla was the Alpha. And I, too, would follow him—no matter the cost.
