Parting Words
It had been three days, and we still hadn't reached Antarctica. The journey felt endless, with the cold bite of the wind growing harsher each passing hour. But I could feel it—the shift in the water beneath us. We were getting close to the Arctic place, the place where Hollow Earth's secrets would begin to unravel, and where the titans would face their fates.
I looked out over the frozen sea, the icy expanse stretching out as far as the eye could see. The water was becoming darker, more tumultuous, and the air thick with the promise of what lay ahead. The ship creaked under the pressure, but it held steady as we approached the icy shores.
Godzilla and Kong moved silently beside us, their towering forms casting long shadows in the pale light. The tension between them was still palpable, but there was an unspoken understanding—one that had grown over the course of this journey. They would fight together, for now. They would have to.
The cold wasn't the only thing pressing in. We were close, and whatever we would face in the depths of the Earth, we were about to come face-to-face with something even more ancient. Something that would change everything.
"Syra," Godzilla shouted, his deep voice carrying through the air. I turned my head to see my massive friend, my king, staring up at me with a mix of patience and command. "Come down."
With a swift beat of my wings, I descended, feeling the rush of air and the shift in the water beneath me as I landed gracefully beside him. The sea churned as I touched down, my claws sinking slightly into the surface.
He held a magma squid in his claws, the creature sizzling and crackling with heat. I leaned forward and took the squid from him, the warmth radiating from it as I bit into its flesh.
"Thank you," I purred, my voice soft as I began to eat. The taste was rich, full of the fiery depths that only creatures like Godzilla could know.
Godzilla watched me for a moment, his glowing eyes keeping a steady watch on our surroundings. The calm before the storm was still hanging in the air, but I could feel the pull of the unknown as we neared our destination.
After a long moment of silence, Godzilla let out a low rumble, almost like a contented sigh, before turning his gaze toward the horizon.
"I can't come to Hollow Earth with you," Godzilla said, his voice low and almost reluctant. I paused mid-bite, looking at him with a raised brow.
"Huh, why not?" I asked, a hint of confusion in my voice.
He sighed, flicking his tail through the water. "It's not my fear, not only that, but I haven't been back..." He trailed off, his gaze distant, as though the words were hard for him to say. "Since my mother died. It feels wrong to go there again."
I remained silent for a moment, letting his words sink in. His past, the loss of his mother, was something I knew he rarely spoke of. The weight of it was evident in the way he spoke of Hollow Earth, a place of both power and pain for him.
I hummed softly, understanding washing over me. "I see," I said gently, offering him a reassuring look. "Don't worry. I'll make sure Kong makes it to Hollow Earth and doesn't bother you anymore."
Godzilla chuckled softly, the rumble of his deep laugh vibrating through the air. "You know, I like Kong. He's not afraid of me, and he knows when not to push any boundaries." His eyes flickered toward the horizon, a thoughtful expression crossing his face. "I have a feeling we'll need each other soon enough."
His words lingered in the air, and for the first time in a long while, the heavy tension between the titans seemed to lessen. The road ahead would be difficult, but maybe—just maybe—this fragile understanding between them would be enough.
I swallowed the last of the magma squid, feeling the warmth of it settle in my stomach as I stepped closer to Godzilla. With a soft, knowing smile, I nuzzled him gently, my wings fluttering as I curled up against his massive side.
"Then I will see you soon, Godzilla, my love," I purred, my voice filled with affection. He looked down at me, a flicker of something softer crossing his usually stern expression.
Before he could respond, I took off, the wind rushing past me as I soared into the sky, the fleet moving below me as they continued on their path. As I glanced back, I saw Godzilla standing still, his form towering and proud against the horizon—but there was something new in his posture, something that hinted at the warmth I had stirred in him.
A small blush crept across his face, barely noticeable, but I could feel it. I smiled to myself, knowing that even the mighty Godzilla had his moments of vulnerability.
As I flew ahead, the anticipation of what lay ahead kept my focus sharp, but the thought of seeing him again soon, of the bond we were forging, gave me a sense of peace I hadn't felt in a long time.
