One True King
After my conversation with Mothra, her words echoed in my mind. "He is the Alpha." She was right, of course. Godzilla wasn't just a king; he was the balance that held our world together. It was more than loyalty that pulled me to him. It was something deeper, something I hadn't fully acknowledged until now.
Determined, I spread my wings, the wind rippling against my scales as I took to the skies. Clouds parted as I soared above the land, following the unmistakable trail of Godzilla's energy signature. His presence was like a beacon, guiding me back to him.
As I approached the shoreline, I spotted him wading through the ocean, his massive dorsal plates cutting through the water like ancient blades. He moved with purpose, but his body bore the marks of battle—scratches and bruises that even his legendary regeneration couldn't conceal.
I descended, landing softly on the sand behind him. My talons sank into the wet earth, and the salty spray of the sea misted against my face. Godzilla stopped and turned, his glowing eyes narrowing as he took in my approach.
I dipped my head respectfully. "Gojira."
He grunted, his tail flicking behind him. "What do you want, Syra?"
I hesitated, the words heavy on my tongue. "I've come to join you. Not just as an ally... but as something more."
His eyes widened slightly, the luminescent blue flickering as he stared at me. The tension between us hung heavy in the air, the waves crashing against the rocks the only sound between us.
"You wish to stand by my side? As what? A queen?" His voice rumbled, laced with curiosity and caution.
I lifted my head, meeting his piercing gaze. "If you'll have me."
Godzilla was silent, his expression unreadable. Then, slowly, a low growl rumbled from his throat. "You are bold, Syrantus. But to be queen means more than just standing beside me. It means fighting with me... for me."
I stepped closer, my wings flaring out as I held my ground. "I have fought beside you, Gojira. I stood against Rodan, and I faced Ghidorah's wrath. I am no stranger to battle."
His eyes softened, the tension in his massive shoulders easing. "And yet, you still chose to save the humans. Why?"
I blinked, the memory of Madison's frightened eyes surfacing. "Because they are innocent... and they are under our protection, whether they realize it or not. It's our duty as titans to keep balance."
Godzilla huffed, his breath stirring the air between us. "You sound like Mothra."
I couldn't help but smile. "Perhaps she's wiser than we give her credit for."
A rumble of laughter escaped him, his mouth curling into what could almost be considered a grin. "Perhaps."
For a long moment, we stood in silence, the crashing waves our only witnesses. Then Godzilla dipped his head, his eyes never leaving mine. "Very well, Syrantus. You shall stand beside me... as queen."
My heart surged, a rush of pride and purpose filling me. "Thank you, Gojira. I will not disappoint you."
"See that you don't," he growled playfully, turning back to the ocean. "Come, we have a world to protect... together."
With a powerful leap, he plunged into the waves, his massive body disappearing beneath the surface. I followed, spreading my wings wide as I dove into the water, my heart racing with anticipation.
Side by side, we swam through the churning ocean, the promise of a new era echoing between us. Not just as allies, but as rulers—king and queen.
SCENEBREAK
In the darkened sky, Ghidorah's two remaining heads flew through the turbulent clouds, their golden scales glinting under flashes of lightning. But their majestic form was marred by the gruesome sight of the headless neck, now writhing like a serpentine rash, raw and pulsating as if in agony.
Ichi, the central head, grimaced as pain coursed through their shared body. His crimson eyes flicked toward Ni, whose features were contorted in anger and despair. They both felt the absence of Kevin—their youngest head—who had been torn from them in the brutal clash with Godzilla.
A low growl escaped Ichi, his fangs bared. The sky seemed to tremble with his fury. "We will get Kevin back, Ni," he vowed, his voice laced with rage and sorrow.
Ni turned, his eyes shimmering with an unspoken grief. "But how? Without Kevin, we are weakened... incomplete." His gaze shifted to the grotesque stump where Kevin once rested, the mangled neck twitching as if still searching for its lost head. "Can we even regrow him?"
Ichi's eyes narrowed, his pride refusing to show weakness. "We are Ghidorah, the King of Terror. We do not fall to a mere lizard." He spat the last word, his hatred for Godzilla seething beneath his scales. "We have conquered worlds... devoured stars. We will not be defeated by a false king."
"But... Ichi," Ni hesitated, his voice faltering. "What if Kevin is truly gone?"
A silence fell between them, the thunder rolling ominously in the distance. Ichi looked away, his eyes hardening as he faced the stormy horizon. "No," he growled. "Kevin is part of us. As long as we live, so does he."
Ni's eyes widened, a flicker of hope breaking through his sorrow. "You really believe that?"
Ichi's body trembled, his muscles tensing as he let out a furious roar that shook the heavens. "I know it. And I will tear apart this world if I must... to bring him back."
The clouds rumbled, lightning flashing across the sky, illuminating the fierce determination in Ichi's gaze. Ni's sorrow gave way to resolve, his fangs baring as he roared alongside his brother.
Together, they flew onward, the headless neck still writhing but now filled with purpose. Ghidorah would not rest. Not until they were whole again. Not until Kevin was by their side once more.
Ichi's fierce eyes softened, his defiance momentarily faltering. He let out a deep, rumbling sigh, his golden scales shimmering dimly beneath the stormy clouds. "Look," he began, his voice low and weary, "I do not know if we can defeat Godzilla... not after what he did to us." His gaze flicked down to the mangled stump where Kevin's head once rested, the wound still raw and throbbing.
Ni's eyes followed Ichi's, his expression tightening as painful memories resurfaced—Godzilla's roaring charge, the blinding blue light of his atomic breath, and the agonizing moment when Kevin was ripped away. Ni's claws curled, his body trembling with grief and rage. "He took Kevin from us," Ni snarled, his voice breaking. "We should make him pay."
Ichi's head drooped, his resolve wavering. "Yes... but even in my anger, I cannot deny his strength. That false king is unlike any foe we've faced before. He fights with purpose... with fury." He paused, his eyes darkening. "And then... there's her."
Ni stiffened, his golden scales bristling. "Syranthus." The name was spat with a mixture of fear and loathing.
Ichi shuddered, his body tensing as if the mere mention of her brought back memories of pain. "Yes... Syranthus." His voice dropped to a whisper, as if speaking too loudly might summon her wrath. "The Dragon Queen."
Ni's eyes flickered with dread, his wings curling closer to his body. "She... she's not like the others. There's something ancient about her... something... terrifying."
"She wields power beyond our understanding," Ichi admitted, his voice grim. "Her storm is unending, her strength unyielding. And when she looks at me... it's as if she sees right through me. Through us."
A heavy silence fell between the two heads, the storm raging around them as they hovered in the night sky. The headless neck twitched, as if reacting to the fear that permeated their shared consciousness.
Ichi's crimson eyes dimmed, his voice growing somber. "Look, Ni... I do not know if we can defeat Godzilla. But I know for certain... we cannot defeat Syranthus."
Ni looked at him, shock and disbelief flashing across his face. "What? You're giving up?"
Ichi growled, the sound low and bitter. "No. But I am not blind to the truth. She is beyond us. Beyond this world." His gaze turned to the horizon, where distant lightning danced across the clouds. "If she decides to protect Godzilla... then even the stars would fall before her wrath."
Ni shivered, his hope fading. "Then... what do we do?"
Ichi's jaw clenched, his fangs grinding. "We survive," he declared, his voice cold and determined. "We wait. We learn. And if the opportunity arises... we strike. But until then... we stay out of her way."
Ni's eyes were wide with fear, but he nodded, understanding the gravity of Ichi's words. "Then... we run?"
Ichi looked away, his pride burning with shame. "Yes," he admitted, his voice hollow. "For now... we run."
Together, they turned, their massive wings unfurling as they soared into the storm, the headless neck still writhing as if searching for something lost. As thunder roared around them, Ghidorah fled into the darkness, haunted by the name of the one creature they feared above all others.
Syranthus, the Dragon Queen.
