๐๐๐ง๐๐๐๐๐ก ๐ ๐จ๐ก๐ฆ๐ข๐ก turned around as she gazed at her image in the mirror, she had never felt more beautiful in her life. As she performed another spin, she bit her lip. Kathleen joined the cheer leading squad and she was loving it.
''Could you kindly pick up the pace, Kathleen? Some of us sincerely desire to graduate this year.'' From behind the door, Eddie Munson's voice could be heard. taking one more glance in the mirror, she rolled her eyes.
When she opened the door, her cousin was seated against the wall and wearing his customary attire. '' You know you would be an excellent drug-advertising spokesperson.'' As the older boy turned to look at her, she spoke.
The girl glared at him when he remarked, "You're the one who opted to join the devil team, because her girlfriend was in band. '' While Kathleen would never confess it, she did join the cheer squad to be around her more.
She bit back, "Doesn't mean I'm doing drugs," Eddie was going to add something further when the sound of a vehicle honked and cut them off.
''Speaking of girlfriends, I believe she is waiting for Princess Kathleen with her chauffeur. ''Eddie remarked in a mocking tone. She rolled her eyes, grabbed her bag, flicked the boy in the forehead, making him groan in frustration.
Kathleen smiled brightly as she descended the steps after opening the trailer's door and seeing Steve Harrington in the car and Robin Buckley waiting for her outside of it. She moved swiftly in the direction of Robin, who immediately encircled the young woman in her arms. She responded, "Hi Shortie" which caused the shorter female to scoff.
''Everyone is merely taller than me, I'm not short.'' The girl mumbled a little as Robin smiled at her reaction. Kathleen looked up at her. the two of them gradually got closer till Steve interrupted their moment by coughing to catch their attention.
When Kathleen turned around, she noticed Steve waiting impatiently there. "Don't cream your pants were coming," She responded which made Steve scoff. She let go of Robin as she entered the backseat.
Steve started to leave the trailer park in Forest Hills. Steve spoke endlessly about a girl he went on a date with. Kathleen caught a glimpse of Max Mayfield walking as she peered out the window. Kathleen visited the girl regularly every week ever since she moved into the area to prevent loneliness. Her heart broke for her as she was doing it rough.
''As I previously stated, if things go well, I may even undertake something long-term.'' Robin and Kathleen both rolled their eyes as Steve proceeded.
Kathleen got out of the vehicle. Robin waited for her patiently as she wished to stroll with her. As they watched Steve leave, Robin said, "So since my parents are away, I was wondering if we could have one of our dates tonight? " Kathleen gave her a quick glance while grinning.
''What would that intake be?'' Kathleen questioned as they began to move in the direction of the school. Their dates had been quite enjoyable and fascinating, but this would be the first time that she might stay over.
Robin gave her a worried expression, and Kathleen questioned what was making Robin so anxious. '' If you'd like, we could have supper and just relax, just the two of us.'' She was about to babble so Kathleen grabbed her hand and stopped her.
"Robin, I will go with you after the game tonight..okay?" she asked. The color on Robin's cheeks returned after she nodded a little, and the two of them moved on to walk towards the school.
The two of them turned around to find Vickie standing there with the band when the sound of Vickie's voice reached her ears. Kathleen smiled as she called Robin over since Robin joined the band she was stepping out of her comfort zone. Kathleen couldn't be more happier.
She smiled and Robin quickly squeezed her finger lightly, it was their way of being able to be physically intimate without anyone noticing. "Go, I'll see you at lunch time and tell Vickie I said Hi," she said. She saw the girl joyfully go over to her new mates.
She turned when she felt arms encircle her and saw Chrissy Cunningham standing there looking absolutely radiant. She instantly gave the embrace back. Kathleen has been friends with Chrissy since middle school. Chrissy remarked, "Good Morning, sunshine," before letting go.
"And good morning, Lady Bug. What's got in a good mood? " She questioned as the shorter girl clasped their arms together and they walked towards the gym.
The young woman shrugged. "I just feel like it's going to be a nice day" She replied, making the two girls chuckle, observing that students were making their way into the hallway.
As the band played, the students cheered enthusiastically. Kathleen grinned as she performed the routine she had been practicing for some time. When her eyes landed on Eddie, he stuck his tongue out at her, causing her to stumble slightly. She turned her focus to Robin, who was playing, but she didn't stop looking at her, which caused her to slightly flush.
She instantly proceeded to seat down when the Routine was over since she wanted to watch Robin play as well as support the team. When she began practicing, she always encouraged her.
" And let's hear it for your Tigers! "
Kathleen gave a big cheer. She grew louder when she spotted Lucas standing there grinning broadly as the basketball squad came running out. He cheerfully waved back at her in response to her brief motion. She had long since urged him to join the group and was overjoyed when he joined.
" Good morning, Hawkins High! " The crowd once more cheered when Jason Carver spoke onto the microphone. " First off... Hey. I'd like to thank each and every one of you. Without your support, we wouldn't be here. Give yourselves a big hand. " This time, Kathleen clapped more slowly since she didn't think Jason was the best person, particularly considering how he treated her cousin.
" And of course, of course, I have to give a special shout-out to the best and the prettiest fans of all time, the Tiger Cheer Squad. " As he scanned them, Jason grinned. Kathleen and Robin exchanged glances, and Robin mouthed something to her that made Kathleen flush even more.
" Chrissy.. " The girl seated next to Kathleen caught Jason's attention as he spoke quietly while turning to face her. "" Chrissy, I love you, babe." She blow him a kiss as the crowd gasped in awe. Being able to walk around holding hands while she and her girlfriend had to remain hidden in a dim area made Kathleen feel a little envious.
" You know... I think I can speak for all of us when I say it's been a tough year for Hawkins." He stated. Kathleen could already see where this was going and didn't like it at all. " So much loss. And sometimes I wonder, "How much loss can one community take?". In dark days like this,
we need something to believe in. So, last night, when we were down by ten points at half to Christian Academy, I looked at my team, and I said, " Think of Jack. Think of Melissa. Think of Heather. Think of Billy." He said, looking out at the audience.
Memories of Billy's death flooded her head, as Max's screams reminded her of all the horrors. " Think about our heroic police chief, Jim Hopper." Mike, Dustin, and Max were all sporting bitter expressions when Kathleen glanced across at them. As he talked about the night that nearly took everything from her, she felt the discomfort deep inside her.
" Think about every one of our friend who perished in that fire. What did they die for? For us to lose to some... some crap school?, No, For us to return home with our heads hung low in defeat? No! No. Let's win this game for them. And that's exactly what we did " He said while everyone applauded. The way he was comparing people's deaths to some basketball game made Kathleen want to ram a Pom Pom down his throat, to be completely honest. Robin caught her eye and appeared to be as enraged.
" We embarrassed those candy-asses in their own house, and now tonight, tonight, we're gonna bring home the championship trophy! " Chrissy clung to Kathleen's arm in excitement as she cheered, and Kathleen responded with a phone smile of joy.
As Kathleen left the gym, she was filled with rage and fidgeted with her fingers. Robin, who was waiting for her close to the lockers, caught her eye. " What a complete dickhead," she spoke as Kathleen approached her.
" Bringing up the mall fire for a basketball game speech was already difficult enough. But Billy... Max is already going through enough." she spoke as Robin walked down the hallway while paying attention to the shorter girl.
" We could skip class and just talk, after all, that's probably all you need right now." Robin questioned as she leaned against the locker near Kathleen's as she opened it up. The blonde haired girl shared a smile with her as she grabbed out her books.
" As much as I'd like to skip class and hang out with you, I told Eddie that I would tutor him in English because the teacher reportedly despises him. " The other girl rolled her eyes, and she managed a tiny laugh.
Kathleen locked her locker while Robin straightened herself and grasped her index finger, lightly pressing it. Before moving down the hall leave the girl alone once more. She still had those three words on the tip of her tongue, but she was frightened to say them.
As she moved in the direction of the classroom, she noticed her cousin standing at the door frame, waiting for her. "You know you can walk in, it won't kill you." she said, standing close to him.
" No, but that monster in there could endanger my life. " He taunted her as he drew nearer. She rolled her eyes and pushed his face away as she made the decision to enter the classroom.
"Mister Munson" The teacher replied bemusedly as he entered the room more slowly, "I don't appreciate you already making a scene, please take your seat. " Once they turned, Eddie made a face at the teacher.
He walked up to sit next to Kathleen, who gave him a little smirk. She put her chin on her palm and remarked, "Mister Munson, how fancy so unlike the Munson I live with."
"Kathleen, stop talking." Before three individuals entered and the atmosphere in the room abruptly increased, Eddie whispered, and she appeared to be about to speak more. The two Munsons looked forward seeing Jason enter the room with his young companions.
She glanced back to her cousin, who appeared to be as disturbed as her dark brown eyes lit up with concern as she stared at him. She murmured, "Let's strike a bargain," to him, and the older Munson gave her an attentive look.
"What do you envision?"
He was already hooked, but she knew what would really hook him. "If you can drive Jason up the wall by the end of this week." She added with a beautiful smile, " I will get you a date with one Steve Harrington, I'm extremely convincing."
"You're on. "
Kathleen was going to have a very gloomy week, but she was unaware of it.
Kathleen listened to what Eddie was saying while seated at the table between Jeff and Garret. While he wasn't looking, she snatched one of his grapes and grinned as she placed it in her mouth. She smiled when she turned around to find Robin laughing about something.
" What's wrong, Kathleen? Are you afraid of a little murder? " He asked pulling the bottom of her ponytail, She turned slightly and slapped Eddie with the magazine he was carrying, forcing him to yell in pain as the gang laughed around him. She rolled her eyes at his over-the-top behavior.
Kathleen turned to see Mike and Dustin who were now sitting at the table, their faces showing signs of anxiety. She questioned, "What's with the long faces boys?" curious as to what they were contemplating.
She looked back to Eddie who was talking about fantasy games once more after they both responded with "nothing" but she wasn't persuaded. "Here we go." She smiled as she observed him ascend the table.
"But as long as you're into band, or science... or parties." Before turning his focus to his primary objective, Eddie sneered as he observed the party goers. "or a game where you toss balls into laundry baskets..." He screamed even louder.
" You want something freak? " In contrast to anything she had previously encountered or seen, Kathleen snorted as she saw Jason stand up and attempt to appear scary. Eddie fashioned devil horns and splattered at him, making the table laugh as he grinned before turning around. She watched as this happened with a grin on her face.
"It's forced conforming. " Eddie said before jumping down in front of a teacher and a few students as he moved his end near the table.. " That's what's...killing the kids! " While yelling, he shifted to make room for two cheerleader-clad females while being courteous about it.
"That's the real monster." He eventually turned around and headed back towards the table, winking at Kathleen as she rolled her eyes in irritation and hoped Steve would pardon her if Eddie succeeded.
"So, uh, speaking of monsters, Lucas has to do his, uh, balls-in-laundry-baskets game. " Dustin chuckled apprehensively, but Kathleen couldn't help but smile because she could already see where this was headed. "he's not gonna be able to make it to Hellfire tonight. "
"You guys do realist that you guys could simply, like, I don't know, play without Lucas because this game means a lot to him?"As she bit on her food, Kathleen spoke up. everyone turned to look at her. She shrugged, " Well, it's only a suggestion."
"However, we had considered maybe postponing-" Mike was unable to finish his sentence as the group erupted into argument. Perhaps Kathleen was considering joining the cheerleaders for a more interesting debate than this one.
"Shut Up!" Eddie shouted.
As they all turned to face him, everyone abruptly stopped speaking. In an effort to help Garrett relax a little, Kathleen placed her head on his shoulder. She snatched a bite of his food as he grinned at her.
"You saying Sinclair's been taken in by the dark side? " Kathleen blocked out everything they said next since she didn't want to listen to this conversation any longer.
It was now only her and Eddie seated at the table, bringing her back to reality. He was now seated next to her, and he grinned as he said, "Welcome back to the our world, explorer."
"You realise you could treat them a little nicer? " She stated that although her cousin enjoyed making fun of the new people, she also knew that he also had a heart of gold.
As he surveyed the tables of students who were either studying or just calmly conversing, he observed, "I have make sure those little sheep know what they are doing before I leave this year. I don't want them to experience the difficulties I did throughout my time here. "
After observing her cousin's expression, she grabbed his hand and made him turn to face her. She grinned, and Eddie drew his cousin in closer. "You aren't him, you are no where near what he was. You're going to graduate and become one rock star who will travel the world, I believe in you. "
"Tell Lucas I wished him luck tonight, he needs it all," Eddie said. At that, she grinned. She was aware that he had a soft spot for the boys. " But keep it a secret from the boys, I want them to believe I'm still angry. "
As the older one laughed at her, Kathleen pushed him away. When Eddie graduated and ultimately moved out of this town, she knew deep down that she would miss him terribly. She might even graduate alongside him, but that will depend on when they do.
