Chapter 10: Prom

All weekend had slipped by and you were engrossed in your thoughts. A lot of of them they were only about Jimin.

What plan?

He seemed afraid. Of what or who though?

Somehow, all these thoughts led back to Taehyung and how Jimin had eyed him cautiously as he walked away Friday night.

You huff, ruffling your hair as the complex thinking had started giving you a headache.

And soon enough, it was Monday.

Sighing, you lock the door of your house, turning around to walk to school but stop in your tracks as your eyes land on the figure in front of you.

His shirt wasn't tucked in, tie not worn, blazer unbuttoned, hair slightly ruffled. He whistled lowly, his eyes trained on the ground as he kicked loose pebbles on the pavement.

Your heartbeat picked up it's pace as it seemed like an elysian scene.

Him standing outside your house, patiently waiting for you as blossoms bloomed in the trees behind him, the sun slowly rising as it painted the sky with streaks of pink, purple, and yellow.

Here he was, once again, just like before, and your feelings were let loose.

He glanced up, his eyes landing on you as he flashed you a toothy grin, eyes disappearing behind two crescents, "Ready?"

You nod, slowly walking towards him.

"Today, princess," he chuckles and your ears turn red.

You weren't gonna lie when you said you missed his nickname for you, but you decided to play along, "Hey, the princess can walk at whatever pace she wants to. The peasant has to bear with it."

He smiles at you, gazing at you with a certain softness in his eyes before leaning in and pinching your cheeks, "Why are you so cute?"

Your cheeks burned as you swat his hands away, breaking into a run with Jimin following closely behind.

Growing tired within a few seconds, you curse yourself for your lack of exercise. You hated running in early morning, your body would just refuse straight up.

"I hate you for making me run this early," you huff, returning to your normal pace as Jimin catches up beside you.

"Well, I didn't tell you to run, did I?" He raises an eyebrow, clearly amused by your reaction to him just pulling your cheeks and calling you cute.

"Stop staring at me," you warm under his gaze, smacking his arm.

He giggles before lacing his fingers through your hand, squeezing it for a split second as you continue walking to school.

Jimin was glad things were normal between the two of you now.

And you were too.

Both of you missed each other but refused to admit it because you weren't used to feeling like this.

Little did you know, things wouldn't stay this way for very long.

Within a few minutes, school had come into view and you walked to class, Jimin finally letting go of your hand as you sat down at your desks.

His eyes never left you though.

"Oh my god, will you stop staring at me?" You hide your face in your hands, secretly smiling to yourself.

Hearing rustling, you peek through your fingers only to see his face merely inches away from yours.

You yelp, almost slipping out of your seat, "What in the what!"

He laughs, his head rolling back and you find yourself smiling at his action.

"It's not funny," you mutter and Jimin bumps his shoulder against yours.

"Then why are you smiling?" He wiggles his eyebrows, giggling right after.

"So," he trails off, "Since prom is coming and all-"

"Wait what?"

Jimin gives you an 'are you crazy' look as you stare at him in utter shock, "I didn't know prom was happening."

"Well, it is. We were given notice like two weeks ago. You were sitting next to me when it was announced," he clarifies.

"Well, why don't I remember it?"

"Maybe 'cause you were in one of your daydreaming phases when it announced," he retorts, earning a light smack on the arm from you.

"So as I was saying," he continues, "If you don't have a date, I was hoping... maybe you would go with-"

"Y/N!"

Your head snaps towards the door, where the voice came from only to see Taehyung standing there with a bright smile on his face.

Jimin cursed the orange-head in his mind for interrupting as he walked closer. Other students began filing into the room as well since the bell had just gone.

What was going on?

. . .

As lunch time arrived, you stand up from your seat, stretching as you walk towards your locker to grab your books needed for the next class.

As you open it, the colour red fills your vision, your eyes trained on the bouquet of roses that rested there.

Fingers grasping the paper wrapped stems, you pull it out.

"Hey," at Taehyung's voice, your eyes shift up to him as his travel down to the bouquet in your hands.

"I was wondering," he scratches the back of his neck, smiling sheepishly as he continues, "What are your plans for prom?"

You spare him a glance, pulling out your books while keeping the bouquet in your hands, "Not much, just going with Tzuyu. Why?"

"O-Oh, nothing. I was just wondering if you didn't have anyone to go with, you'd maybe consider going with me?" He eyes you, waiting for your response.

"Oh, uhm, I can't exactly bail on Tzuyu, she'll murder me," you laugh nervously, shutting your locker as you turn to face him, "But you can come with us. She wouldn't mind that."

He doesn't say anything for a moment or two causing you to wonder if maybe you said something wrong. But, as he smiles, your worries wash away, "Sure thing! Just text me when and where I'll be picking you guys up from."

He walks away after flashing you his box-shaped smile. Jimin watched from afar, the bouquet of roses he left in your locker, resting in your hands.

Taehyung walked past, flashing Jimin a smirk, "Thanks for the roses, Park. She agreed to my promposal."

Rage took over Jimin, his fists clenching into balls as he burned holes in the back of the ginger's head.

He had put that bouquet there in hope's to ask you to prom, but Taehyung had beat him to it.

I'm always one step ahead of you, his words resonated in Jimin's thoughts as he thought of what to do next.

He grabbed Hyerim's forearm who happened to be walking past, kneeling down in front of her.

You watched in horror as the scene unfolded before you.

"Will you go to prom with me?" Jimin asked and Hyerim almost squealed as she hugged Jimin, other students who had watched clapping their hands at the successful promposal.

You fight back the urge to run away as you walk past the couple, completely ignoring their existence.

Jimin felt guilty, once again, but he had no choice.

He had to do this,

For you.
