Edward Styles

We came into the Cave of Dead pretty quickly because the sirens helped us. Their psychic was given a vision in which they saw the big battle, the moments when our future would be decided - if we were to be killed and Matthew would rule England of he would be killed and for the first time in history, pirates would be on the throne of England.

I mean, Louis will marry us so that would make us kings.

There was still something I almost forgot to mention. They wanted information on Desmond. Not sure why, he was dead.

"So sirens are our alliances," Louis commented why looking around the cave. Some ruins from the stone which was hit with cannonballs were visible in the shallower areas, the holes on the cave walls letting the sunshine in. The cave still had a magical glow, glowing-like dots of flowers or some animals were flying around the air, almost looking like they're not moving.

"Who would've thought, innit? Mystical creatures and men working together."

"I think it's awesome," Harry commented. "I wasn't even sure they existed and now..." he gestured around with his hands. The sirens were swimming around the ships, some underwater, some with their heads above sea level.

The variety of their tail colours was a nice change.

"Yeah... But I don't know how much damage can they do to Matthew and his army."

"Do not underestimate them, Edward," Louis spoke. "They are strong creatures."

"I'm not denying that."

"You kinda do, brother," Harry smirked.

"Shut up, Harold," I snapped at him, letting out a huff of annoyance and crossing my arms.

"Crybaby," Harry jokingly whispered, causing me to roll my eyes.

"Captain. We're ready to anchor." Niall told us.

"Send the guys to check the place quickly. You never know what or who might hide there," I commanded.

"Ya, sure."

"Is that the attitude that you're giving me?"

"Nah," he saluted and went to search for our standard scouts. At least, I hoped he did.

It was the evening of the next day. The last sun rays of the day were piercing through the hole on the cave ceiling, reflecting on the water and making a small number of fireflies and white dandelions that were flying around visible. We had guards on every side possible and were prepared if we were to be attacked, which I truly hoped we wouldn't.

When you control the environment you reveal your poison, you have leverage.

The cave was the place we didn't want to ruin even more. Our preferred battleground would be on the open sea, away from civils and where it's harder for Matthew to conjure skeletons, according to Louis. And we know he's right about that all the time.

Since most of the oceans and seas were yet to be explored, there wasn't any human death at the bottom of them, therefore no human skeletons in large number. But Matthew had advanced stuff and the whole England army on disposal. What was that compared to our... Five ships and mermaids? Hundred to hundred fifty people to few hundred or thousand.

Shit.

We're going to die. There's no way we will win, they have so much more resources.

"That's why it is important you find the amulet, sword and moths. Those are our gifts and weapons given to you."

Louis and I looked at Harry, who was starring at the fire. We were sitting around a small source of heat, few branches on top of each other were lighted to create a controlled fire.

"What did you say?" Louis asked. Harry smiled. He looked like he was in trance or possessed, eyes hooded, mouth slightly opened, head tilted to the right side.

"Find our gifts, children," he spoke with a higher-pitched, almost female voice.

"They're the weapon we can give," was said with a deep voice, deeper than Harry's.

"We know it's not much but we're also weak," the neutral voice said. It was weird and scary hearing different voices coming out of Harry.

"Go find them, we'll send them your way!" the voices came out at once and them Harry was taking a big breath as he bend over, his right hand on the sand and his left on his stomach - the hand was moved to around his neck.

I went into action, patting Harry onto his back and slightly panicking, asking him if he was alright. Louis got on his knees in front of him, taking his face in his hands. Niall and Zayn came running to us from the direction of ships while Niall, alongside few others, came running to us from the trees.

"Is capt'an okay?"

"What happened?"

"We came to tell ya about some weird sounds, boiling water and slight shaking on the ot'er side. What's wrong with capt'an? Did something happen?

"Enemies?"

"Assassination?"

"Calm down everyone!" Louis yelled, his hands were shaking a bit as he looked over Harry. I gave him space but didn't take my hands from Harry.

"I'm fine," Harry's voice broke, making him cringe.

"What the hell happened, capt'an?" Niall asked.

"Don't know. I felt weird, I was suddenly hot and then I felt like I was floating."

"You spoke in different voices," I gently said.

He shook his head. "I don't know."

Louis was about to say something when we heard a scream and a crew member ran from the small forest. We heard buzzing and then some cloud of blackness came behind him.

Some others screamed and stood up, going towards the ships or in made up tents. I pulled Harry on his left arm, urging him to stand up, as Louis pulled at his right. Harry was looking at whatever that was and indeed of going to hide, he pulled us towards it.

"No, Harry. Let's go." I pulled harder making him stumble and the buzzing to be louder, the blackness moving quicker.

"Wait. It looks like it wants to protect him or something."

"Not time for that, Louis babes! We have to get to cover."

"Let me go, they won't do anything." Harry's voice was calm, his tone filled with wonder.

I went to argue but Louis said or almost like hissed out: "Let him," with a weirdly calm and more powerful voice than usual.

We let him go, the others stood behind us with swords drawn, alongside the guy who came running out of the forest. Harry stepped closer to the blackness and it slowed down and stopped moving when it was close to him. He put his hand up slowly, like he was trying to come closer to a wounded or wild animal.

Now that it was closer, I could see the blackness was lots and lots of... Insects? Moths. The blackness was moths. They moved together like one and the ones in front of Harry's outstretched hand came to his palm.

It looked like he was petting the darkness.
