ALTHOUGH SHE WAS CONSTANTLY WARM, standing on that thick layer of snow made her suddenly chilly — it didn't help that she had two freezing vampires on either side of her, both holding her hands. Alec squeezed on his mate's hand, the suspense killing him, he could only wish he could wake up from this nightmare, but it was the sad reality.

Bree looked over at Demetri, the two smiling at one another for comfort and Felix stood there, his hands intertwined behind his back as he rolled backwards and forwards on the balls of his feet. He was nervous, but it was impossible for Felix to ever be worried, it wasn't like him.

"If we live through this, I'll follow you anywhere, woman." Garrett told Kate, and the two stared into each other's eyes lovingly. Kate looked back to where the Volturi were supposed to be standing, and she shook her head with a smirk.

"Now you tell me." Kate spoke, causing Garrett to chuckle lightly.

The red coats began to appear throughout the scattered trees, their feet crunching beneath the snow and Arlina looked over at Bree, kissing her head softly before she looked over at her mate, causing him to connect eyes with hers.

"After this, I'm going to marry you." Alec told the blonde, and her eyes went wide, the sides of her lips upturning. The Volturi all stood in a line, the main members of the coven stepping forwards, and they all walked forward worryingly slow.

Alec and Jane locked eyes, both insanely concerned. Jane had never been worried before, but as she watched Alec's grip on Arlina's hand tightened, she began to fight tears. Did the person she loved most in the world hate her?

The wolves began to howl, and they emerged from the trees behind the vampires, putting the Volturi off guard. Seth strolled over to Bree, snuggling his nose into her hip, and Bree's frown softened as she looked down at her love, stroking his fur.

The red coats stopped before they pulled their hoods down, every single one of them all holding a stern frown. Carlisle began to walk forwards, leaving Esme stood on her own, nothing but scared for her mate.

"Aro... let us discuss things as we used to." Carlisle asked, trying to look as strong as possible, "In a civilised manner."

"Fair words, Carlisle. But a little out of place, given the battalion you've assembled against us." Aro smirked, sure he could kill every single one of his enemies, even his own ex members as he looked over at the three, raising his eyebrows at them.

"I can promise you, that was never my intent." Carlisle assured the older vampire, "No laws have been broken."

"We see the child." Caius spoke, tilting his head as he eyed Renesmee with such hate, "Do not treat us as fools."

"She is not an immortal!" Carlisle yelled in a calm manner as he looked around at everyone, making sure everyone knew, "These witnesses can attest to that. Or you can look." He held his hand out towards Renesmee, who was hiding behind Bella's arm, holding tightly on to her hand, "See the flush of human blood in her cheeks."

"Artifice!" Caius yelled in rage.

"I will collect every facet of the truth." Aro held his hand up to Caius, "But from someone more central to the story. Edward, as the child clings to your newborn mate, I assume... you are involved." Aro took a few steps forward, holding his hand out for the raven haired Cullen to take ahold of.

Edward ran his hand through his daughter's hair gently, smiling down at her to reassure her everything would be okay before he looked up at his wife, nodding at her curtly. He began forward and Bella moved Renesmee to the other side of her so that the half-vampire could be protected from not just Bella, but Jacob too.

They all watched as Edward placed his hand into Aro's, and the aforementioned man's eyes lit up and his mouth went wide before his smile dropped. He glanced over at Renesmee and dropped Edward's hand, "I'd like to meet her."

Edward looked back, and Bella stared down at her daughter comfortingly before she began to walk forwards, Jacob hot on their tail. Bella looked back at Emmett, and the man nodded, moving past Rosalie with a cold expression, following after them.

Bella moved her sight over to the other side of the vampires, nodding over at Felix, who understood immediately, quickly moving forward to join their side with his chest pushed outwards.

The five walked towards Edward and Aro, and Jacob snarled as they got closer, warning the group not to try anything.

"Ah. Young Bella. Immortality becomes you." Aro spoke, and Bella could only glare towards him.

"He's right for once." Arlina commented and Bree snickered under her breath.

Aro looked down at Renesmee and he began to laugh delightedly but also manically, pointing down at her, "I hear her strange heart." Bella looked down at her daughter, smiling at her before Renesmee moved forwards.

The girl looked down at Aro's hand, "Hello, Aro." She ignored the waiting hand as she reached up, surprising the Volturi vampire greatly. She placed her small hand on his cold cheek and his eyes lit up, a small smile finding its way onto his face.

"Magnifico!" Aro murmured, and he pulled away flabbergasted, causing Bella to pull Renesmee back towards her, "Half-mortal, half-immortal. Conceived and carried by this... newborn while she was still human."

"Impossible!" Caius demanded angrily, causing Jacob to growl, and Aro looked back.

"Do you think they fooled me, brother?" The long-haired man questioned, taking a step forwards and Bella pulled Renesmee back to the group of witnesses and her family alongside Edward whilst Jacob stayed back to intimidate them further before he followed after them.

"Bring the informer forward." Caius demanded, his arm out and the Guard did as told, dragging Irina forward. Caius pointed towards Renesmee, "Is that the child you saw?"

"I'm not sure." Irina shook her head hesitatingly, looking down at the ground in guilt.

"Jane." Caius called and Jane moved forward, ready to cause pain to the Denali woman.

"She's changed. This child is bigger." Irina told them.

"Then your allegations were false." Caius stated.

"The Cullens are innocent. I take full responsibility for my mistake." Irina looked over at her sisters with wide eyes, mouthing 'I'm sorry' to them, and the Guard began to light a stick and move towards the blonde.

"Caius, no!" Edward yelled, but the King ignored him, allowing the execution to continue. The Guard members pulled Irina's arms from her body before they ripped her head from her body, finding delight in the cracking sound.

"Irina!" Kate and Tanya screamed, beginning to run forwards and Kate electrocuted everyone in her way before Garrett got ahold of her, not letting go no matter how much it hurt — Emmett and Felix held onto Tanya.

"Blind them." Edward told Zafrina, and the woman did as told, looking over at the two and taking away their sight.

"Give me my sight back." Tanya demanded and Edward moved forwards.

"Tanya, this is what they want. If you attack now, we'll all die." Edward told her and Tanya began to calm down, her sight slowly returning and the two strongest vampires let go of her.

Aro looked back at Jane, and the blonde nodded, looking over at Edward, "Pain."

Edward began groaning loudly, falling to the ground and Alec moved forwards, "Jane!"

The girl ignored her brother, smiling lightly at the sound of Edward's pained screams and Bella stepped forwards, allowing her shield to expand and protect everyone so that Jane couldn't use her gift on anyone.

When Jane couldn't get through, she stepped forwards in anger, wanting to kill every one of them, but Caius held his hand out, stopping her in her tracks. Everyone got into their fight stances, Alec even allowed his smoke to exit from his hands but Arlina put her hand on his shoulder, calming him down and the smoke returned.

"Aro, you see there's no law broken here." Carlisle spoke up, his hands out ready to protect himself.

"Agreed." Aro placed his hands on top of one another, smiling at the blonde Cullen, "But does it then follow that there is no danger? For the first time in our history... humans pose a threat to our kind. Their modern technology has given birth to weapons that could destroy us. Maintaining our secret has never been more imperative. In such perilous times, only the known is safe. Only the known is tolerable. And we know nothing of what this child will become. Can we live with such... uncertainty? Spare ourselves a fight today... only to die tomorrow."

The red coats all murmured between one another, seemingly scared and Jane glanced over at her brother once again, who was extremely enraged at her. He glared at his sister, even Arlina's warm touch couldn't bring him enough happiness for him to feel okay towards his sister — she had disappointed him.

Footsteps could be heard approaching from the trees, and everyone looked over at where the sound was coming from and Alice and Jasper were seen walking towards the Volturi.

"Alice." Edward stated, and the girl looked over at her family, nodding at them.

"Alice!" Aro gasped, excited to see his favourite vampire. The Guard members pushed the two Cullens back, keeping them away from Aro and Alice grunted against their strong grips. "My dear, dear Alice, we're so glad to see you here after all."

"I have evidence the child won't be a risk to our kind." Alice assured the overly obsessed man, and she held her hand out over the Guard's shoulders, "Let me show you."

"Brother?" Caius spoke but Aro ignored him, holding his own hand out for Alice to take. Alice pushed the Guard member's hand away from her, and walked towards Aro, causing the Guard to slap Jasper in the face in anger.

Aro exhaled sharply as he took ahold of Alice's hand, and his eyes went wide once again, flabbergasted at the sight.

Arlina and Alec watched in anticipation whilst Bree held tightly on Arlina's hand.

"We're all gonna die." Bree mumbled worriedly, causing Seth to whine, looking over at her before he rubbed his nuzzle against her arm in comfort.

"Don't say that, B." Arlina warned her sister, but she thought the same thing. She was overwhelmed imagining her whole family dying right in front of her. It would be her worst nightmare coming true.
