THE NEXT DAY WAS QUIET, everyone explored the town, went hunting, or just stayed around the house waiting for the time to come.

Bree, Demetri and Felix were outside and Alec and Arlina were walking through the forest, trying to find things to occupy themselves but they also wanted some time on their own.

"Do you think Jane will stay with the Volturi forever?" Alec spoke up randomly and Arlina looked over at him with a shake of her head.

"She loves you more than her loyalty for them." Arlina reassured him, smiling softly at her love and he nodded with an appreciative smile of his own.

"Yeah, I suppose." Alec looked down at the ground, twigs snapping beneath his feet, "But what if Chelsea forces Jane to love Aro more? What if she already has done so?"

"Chelsea?" Arlina scrunched her brows, confused and Alec exhaled.

"She's apart of the Guard." Alec replied, not so enthusiastic to talk about the woman who ruined his life, "Her gift is relationship manipulation, she can influence the emotional ties that people feel toward one another, either by strengthening their bonds or breaking them apart. If she wasn't away on a trip when I was there, she would've used it on me."

"Well, there is a chance she's used it on Jane, I'm not going to say there isn't a possibility but it's best to think on the bright side. Jane is so strong, much like her brother, I'm sure she's figuring everything out. And if she isn't, we'll see her tomorrow, okay?" Arlina reached over and grabbed a hold of Alec's hand, rubbing her thumb gently over his knuckles.

"Thank you, my love, you always know how to comfort a person." Alec lifted their hands and kissed the back of her warm one, causing her to smile wide, blushing internally.

"You're welcome." She smirked back over at him and it stayed silent for a while before Alec had an idea. He smiled to himself before he slowly jogged over to a pile of logs, inspecting them, "What is it?"

"I have an amazing idea, my love." He picked up all of the logs at once to no surprise, and he sped over to an opening in the woods. The space would need a little clean up, but it's perfect.

"Would you mind telling me the idea?" Arlina scrunched her brows, stood in place, watching him start to assemble the logs together and he started to laugh at something in his head.

He stood from his crouch on the ground, and he turned in her direction, beginning to speak to her from a distance, "You know how we always speak about if the Volturi ever accepts me back, if Jane wants to stay there, if we'd live there or here? Or if we'd live separate, or together?"

"Yes, but I thought we figured that out. I agreed to visitations, like before. I would never keep you away from Jane, and you could never keep me away from my family." Arlina responded, her hand out in confusion.

"That doesn't matter, I think we should build a house together." Alec presented the idea and Arlina stood, dumbfounded for a minute before a smile appeared on her pale, but warm face.

"Are you sure? Or are you just thinking on impulse?" She raised a brow, the small smile still present on her face and Alec shook his head, rolling his eyes playfully.

"I want to live with you. In our own home, preferably one we built together. I was always miserable about the idea of living apart. So the visitations will be for them, not for each other." Alec confirmed and Arlina thought about it for a moment before she smiled wide, running over to him and picking up logs to build the house with.

The fact that Arlina was so enthusiastic about the idea made Alec the happiest he'd ever been, he was so afraid she would reject the idea, or make up excuses for them not to do it. Alec wasn't even sure how long he had with Arlina, especially since he was 100% sure Aro wanted to behead him the next day.

So, the couple spent the entire rest of the day, and the night, building the cabin and spending as much time together as possible.

And while Alec was doing it because he didn't know how much time he had left with the love of his life, Arlina was doing it because she couldn't wait for the time she has with him — hopefully forever.
