ALEC VOLTURI WAS FAR FROM HAPPY, THE ONLY PERSON THAT EVER KEPT HIM OKAY WAS JANE. But even his own sister, sometimes, made him feel miserable. However, with Arlina, he was always happy.
Despite the fact that she didn't necessarily like him, he still enjoyed her presence, even with the glares. Arlina began to walk away from Alec when he began to bring up the fact that they were mates and he followed her.
"Why are you so opposed to this?" The Volturi vampire asked, slowly following her through the woods. He was so bewildered, and Arlina could see it on his face.
She stopped at the end of the woods, just to the point where they could see the Cullen household and she turned to face him, "You quite simply scare me."
"I scare you?" He questioned, he was so befuddled by her statement that he didn't even realise his foot was submerged into a puddle, but he didn't care nonetheless. Esme and Carlisle could hear the commotion outside and were watching out the window, they wanted to let the two mates converse but also wanted to make sure Arlina was safe.
"Yes, you do. I never agreed with hurting people for your own satisfaction, which is what you do. It's sadistic and inhumane, and I watched you and your coven, you were all watching Edward scream in agony with smiles on your faces." Arlina was disgusted by the Volturi, she had never met them before and she never wanted to believe the evil stories she was told about them, but now after meeting them, she believed the stories.
"Well I'm a vampire. A monster. What did you expect?" Alec raised a brow, putting his hands out by his side. He honestly did expect her to think he was a monster, because he was all in all.
"I'm a vampire too, but I choose not to be so immoral. It wouldn't even be that bad if you fed on humans just because you felt you had to, but you actually enjoy causing pain on others. That's what I'm so scared of." Arlina took a couple steps back and when he moved towards her, she stuck her hand out, motioning for him to stop.
"I'm sorry you feel that way, Arlina." Alec mumbled, he looked down to the floor, he was ashamed of himself. He was never really taught the right way, he was turned by Aro and immediately learned his way of vampirism, "I'm willing to try and change for you."
"Alec." Arlina shook her head, and lowered her hand, "Please, give me time to process this all. I'll let you know when I'm ready." She smiled sadly, before she sped off into the house and into her bedroom.
As she sat on her bed, she thought about it all. Yes, she didn't agree with his way of life but at the end of the day, it wasn't really his fault. He was brought up that way, and so was Jane.
She did want him to change for the better, but not for her benefit only, for his too. She wanted him to change for him, so he knows it's better for him. Arlina wasn't sure how she was going to let him know she was ready, yet she'd find a way.

IT WAS A WEEK SINCE THE SITUATION WITH ALEC AND ARLINA HAD ALMOST FIGURED OUT WHAT SHE WAS GOING TO DO. She was going to go to Volterra, and have a civil conversation with him, figure out what is going to happen next and go on from there.
She was sat on her bedroom floor, reading a book, when Edward knocked on her door, "Hey, could I talk to you?"
"Sure. Come in, sit." Arlina smiled wide and closed her book, making sure to mark the page she was on. She placed her book in her nightstand drawer and set her whole attention on her brother, "What's up?"
"There's something I need to tell you. The rest of the family have gone hunting, so there's no prying ears." Edward sat on the floor beside her, his back leaning against the bed and he stretched his legs out in front of him, "You can't tell anyone though, I want it to be a surprise. I just can't keep anything from you and I'd like to tell someone."
She put her index finger and thumb together and moved them to her lips, sliding her fingers across them, making a zipping motion. She pretended to lock it and throw it away, ending the gesture with a smile. Edward only chuckled before pulling a box out of his jeans pocket, showing it to Arlina.
He opened it and her eyes lit up, with a sweet smile plastered onto her face, "A ring? You're proposing to Bella?"
"I already proposed, I didn't have the ring on me when I asked which is the only negative part." He closed up the box and stuffed it back in his pocket, his smile faltered and Arlina scrunched her brows together.
"I'm assuming she said yes?" Arlina questioned, portraying a bewildered expression, and he shook his head lightly.
"She didn't say anything..." Edward put his hands together and placed them in his lap, and Arlina was only confused. Why didn't Bella say yes? She wanted to be with him forever, did she not? "I'm confused too, Arlina."
"Maybe just give her some time." Arlina smiled sadly, and pulled him in for a side hug. They stayed like that for a while, her enjoying the comfort, and him enjoying the warmth.
Ever since Arlina joined the family, yes, she was best friends with Emmett but she felt this sort of platonic closeness with Edward. They bonded over music, writing and drawing. They said they wanted to write a book together, but they hadn't gotten to that yet.
Edward was also fond over the fact that Arlina didn't judge Bella because she was a human. The redhead was sort of weary at first because she was afraid the Swan girl would put her family at risk, but once Arlina got to know the brunette, everything went well.
Which was why Arlina was willing to get to know Alec, she didn't really know anything about him, and she felt bad for judging him off the spot. The cullen family, and Bella, could only hope Arlina came back the same as she left, with a smile.
