90.

I burst through the front door in anger, slamming it behind me as I let out a frustrated groan. What had happened today at school had shaken me to my core. Liam was okay, he was healing, but that didn't make any of this any less hard.

The emotional toll it took on him was severe, and I knew that. He had just been beaten while his classmates, and teacher, watched on. Before I had left to come home, Liam had basically confessed that he let them beat him, thinking he deserved it because of what had happened to Brett and Lori.

My heart absolutely broke at his words. And while he acknowledged the fact that it was Monroe who had ultimately killed our friends, he still blamed himself.

Through my blind rage, I hadn't noticed the voices coming from the kitchen at first. I recognized my brother, Malia, and Lydia, but there appeared to be another voice.

I dropped my bag, making my way into the kitchen to see what was happening. As I arrived, I noticed a girl sitting on one of the dining room tables, her head coated in blood.

I looked to my brother with my brows furrowed, "What's going on?" I questioned.

Scott nodded to the girl, "This is Quinn." he explained, "She's a werewolf."

I turned to the girl, giving her a small smile, "I'm Sydney." I greetd.

Quinn returned the smile, before she noticed my fixation on the wounds on her head. "I was attacked." she explained.

"By who?" I questioned, leaning up against the counter.

She let out a shaky sigh, "A Deputy."

My face fell as I looked to my brother in shock. It was one thing when it was the school's guidance counsellor, but now the law enforcement?

"They've got everyone." My brother announced, letting out a shaky sigh.

I nodded, my eyes falling to the ground for a moment. "They attacked Liam at school today." I admitted, my voice breaking at the memory.

"What?" Malia questioned, disbelief in her voice.

I looked up at them, my eyes stinging with tears. "Two kids from the lacrosse team," I explained, "They took him into an empty classroom and beat him to a pulp while everyone looked on. Even Mrs. Finch didn't stop it." my voice was shaky as I spoke.

Lydia shook her head, sadness written in her features, "Why would they do that?"

"They wanted him to shift." I answered, anger overcoming me once again, "They would have kept going if Coach didn't stop them."

Scott looked like he was going to kill someone as he spoke, he was furious. "Is Liam okay?"

I nodded, looking over to the clock, "I'm going to go over soon." I explained.

My brother nodded, glancing over to Quinn. "We're going to deal with all of this tomorrow." he confirmed, "We'll go to the station, figure out which deputy did this to Quinn, okay?" When we all nodded, he looked back at me, "Stay with Liam tonight." he advised.

I nodded, bidding a quick farewell to the girls before rushing up to my room to back a bag. I couldn't help but feel nauseous as I thought about what was coming...I knew it wasn't going to be good.

---

I pushed open the door to Liam's room, a box of pizza and an overnight bag in my hands. At the sound of my arrival, he looked up from his video game, sending me a grin. "Hey, Syd." he greeted.

"Got the pizza!" I announced, moving to set down on his bed.

Liam paused his game, pushing himself to his feet. His eyes caught the bag in my hand and he let out a sigh, "Syd, you don't have to stay overnight." he promised.

I set the bag down and turned to look at him, "You don't want me to?" I inquired, raising a brow.

He shook his head, "Of course I want you to. But only if you're doing it because you want to, not because you're worried about me."

"I'm allowed to be worried about you, Liam. You're my boyfriend, and I love you and hate seeing you hurt." I whispered, taking a seat on the bed.

Liam gave me a small smile as he sat beside me, taking my hand into his. "I'm sorry that they did that to you today," he mumbled, "If they had hurt you in anyway, I would have killed them."

I vehemently shook my head, "They didn't do anything to me." I promised, " I wouldn't have wanted you to shift even if Gabe had hurt me like he threatened. Stop worrying about me." I ordered.

When Liam remained silent, I pulled him toward me and pressed my lips to his. "I love you." I mumbled, "And I'm proud of you."

I pulled me back toward him ,"I love you, Syd...so much."

A smile spread across my face as I pulled back, grabbing the box of pizza. "Now let's eat way too much pizza and watch a movie, how does that sound?"

Liam let out a laugh as he reached for the remote, "That sounds amazing."

---

The next day a group of us stood in Sheriff's office. We had originally come to the station with the goal of finding out which Deputy had attacked Quinn, but when we got here, we discovered there were two teenagers in the holding cell, accused of murder. After some inquiring, we found out they were werewolves, and the people they had killed were hunters.

"I'm not letting them out." Sheriff announced, dropping the case file onto the desk. "We've got two bodies covered in slash marks. They confessed to killing two people."

"Hunters!" Scott argued.

"People, Scott." Sheriff repeated. "Self-defense or not, they're still here, the other guys are dead. And there's a process that I have to follow."

Scott shook his head, "Yeah but you know what's going on around here. It's not safe for them."

"This may actually be the safest place for them in all of Beacon Hills." Sheriff challenged. "Especially if I can protect them here."

Lydia spoke up, shaking her head, "Would Stiles think that?"

I felt my heart pang at the mention of his name, we still hadn't told him what was going on in Beacon Hills.

"Especially if one of your Deputies is working for Gerard?" Malia added.

"I'm not buying that." Sheriff retorted, lowering his voice. "I know these deputies like the back of my hand. I know their families, their kids, their brothers and sisters." As he spoke, we all found ourselves turning to glance out to the main office, taking in the faces of the deputies. "I know who they are, and I trust them."

"You knew who they were." Liam argued. "There's something out there. Everyone's afraid and it's getting worse."

"Yeah," Scott agreed, "You can't protect two werewolves from hunters if they're already on the inside."

Sheriff held eye contact with Scott for a moment before turning to look past all of us.
"It's Quinn, right?"

At the mention of her name, Quinn looked up, giving a small nod.

"You're sure it was a deputy who shot you?" Sheriff questioned, "100% sure?"

Quinn nodded once again, nervously rubbing her hands together. "I saw flashing lights, a police car. I saw a badge and a gun and then they shot me. They shot me in the head."

Sheriff dropped his head, clearly mortified with what he was hearing. It was a hard truth, but it was the truth nonetheless.

He then turned back to us. "There's a couple holes in her story." he announced, as if Quinn could no longer hear us.

Lydia raised a brow, "Maybe cause there's a couple holes in her head."

Malia let out a laugh. When we all turned to look at her with disapproving looks, she stopped. "I'm sorry." she muttered.

"Sheriff," Scott started, trying to get us back on track, "We need to get Jiang and Tierney out of here before anyone realizes they're here."

"And take them where?" Sheriff demanded. "I can't let them go."

"But if you keep them here, they're-"

Sheriff cut Lydia off, "-Look, if there's a problem-"

He didn't get to finish his thought either, as suddenly, a bright light illuminated the night sky outside, causing all of us to flinch.

I let out a shaky sigh, turning from the window to look back at my friends. "Looks like they already know they're here."

---

I let out an anxious sigh as I paced back and forth, nervously chewing at my nails as I watched Parrish and the Sheriff try to figure out what to do. From what I could overhear, it sounded like Stilinski was going out there.

I watched as he placed his gun down on the desk, mumbling something to Parrish before he made his way to the door.

The minute he was outside, the group of us rushed to the windows in his office, parting the shades so we could see what was happening. There were hunters stationed outside the door, and a lot of them for that matter. Not to mention the fact that they were all armed to the teeth.

As I scanned the crowd, I let out a gasp as my eyes landed on someone familiar. "Oh my God." I whispered, looking at the boy I had considered to be somewhat of a friend not too long ago. "Holden's here." I muttered.

Liam face clouded in anger as he all but pushed me aside to get a look outside. "If this gets violent," he began, his voice coated in anger, "I'm going after him first."

"No," I argued, pushing him aside, "You're not going after anyone."

Suddenly, Malia turned from the window, her breathing laboured as she glanced around in fear. "We have to get out of here." she announced.

"Give him a chance," Scott ordered, turning to look at her briefly, "He knows what he's doing."

"I am giving him a chance!" Malia argued, "He can talk all he wants but we have to get the hell out of here."

Liam pulled away from the window, "How do we get Jiang and Tierney out?" he questioned.

"Screw them!" Malia exclaimed, clearly distraught about staying here. "It's Stilinski's job."

"We're just supposed to leave them here?" I asked, turning to join the rest of the where they had crowded in the middle of the room.

"It's out job to keep them alive." Scott agreed.

The door to Sheriff's office then swung open, and one of the last people I ever wanted to see waltz in. "It's not mine!" Theo yelled.

I looked to him with wide eyes, "What the hell is he doing here?" I snapped.

Now, I had been told that Theo had actually helped during the whole Wild Hunt debacle, but that still didn't mean I wanted to see him.

Liam lunged forward, "Do you want me to kill him?" he snapped.

And as much as I wanted to say yes, instead I grabbed onto Liam's arm and pulled him back toward me. Theo glared at Liam as Malia spoke up again. "No, just leave him." she instructed, "Can we just go?" she begged.

When Quinn spoke up, claiming that we were trapped and we were all going to die, Theo piped in again. "Someone want to kill her?"

Something in Malia seemed to snap and she started towards Theo. "Shut up!" she spat, so much anger and venom in her voice it made all of us flinch.

"Malia," Scott whispered, taking a step forward to pull her away from Theo. "Take a breath. You're shaking. "

She turned back to look at him, and she looked like she was on the brink of tears. "I'm fine." she promised.

"Guys!" Lydia announced, speaking for the first time since this whole debate started. "There's only a dozen of them out there. We can take them."

I glanced back out toward the window. "Did you guys miss the fact that they're armed better than this whole police station is right now? Or am I the only one who noticed that?" I questioned, trying to figure out what our plan to get out of here was.

"Scott," Liam started, ignoring my comment. "They're the last of Satomi's pack. We can't leave them here."

My brother looked back to Liam, then to Lydia and then to me. I pursed my lips before giving him a slow nod, we had to try and get out of here. He then turned back to Malia, grasping onto her upper arms. "Okay," he breathed, "We go." He looked back to Liam, giving him a nod. "But Jiang and Tierney are coming with us."

As I looked around at my friends-and Theo- I could tell that they were going to fight tooth and nail to get Jiang and Tierney out of here alive. And despite the fact that there was a small army gathered outside the doors, I knew that we weren't backing down.
