76.
After our little reunion was done and over with, Liam explained to us that Douglas-yep our teacher- was some kind of Nazi soldier and had been responsible for the body we found that night in the boiler room among other things. He was also responsible for sending Corey here like Mason had said, but the real reason he did so was so he could use Corey to merge the two worlds.
"We think we might know where he is." I explained to Liam, who had a tight grip of my hand, claiming he was never going to let go.
Liam nodded, looking between Mason and I, "Okay, where?" he asked, waiting for one of us to answer.
Mason and I shared a look before I spoke, "Okay, we don't know exactly where but we think we have an idea." I answered, my eyes trailing up to the wires on the ceiling.
"He's the one making the announcements over the intercom, which must means he's in some kind of control room." Mason said, elaborating on my earlier statement, "All we have to do is follow these wires."
Liam's eyes trailed upwards, landing on the dozens of wires that were intertwined on the roof. Another announcement echoed through the station, alerting us to the apparent arrival of the next train. I rolled my eyes again, "It's still not coming." I grumbled.
Liam turned to look at me, "Syd, I hate to break it to you but there is a train coming, a train that is going to erase Beacon Hills forever."
"What?" I exclaimed, my eyes growing wide, "But before, it-" I cut myself off, looking over to Mason who's face was covered in worry, "Okay, we've gotta find Corey." I concluded, my eyes looking back up to the ceiling as I began following the wires.
Mason took the lead, his eyes darting from the wires and then back towards the station. The three of us maneuvered through the crowds of people, shoving anyone aside who wouldn't get out of our way.
"There!" Mason called, pointing to a door in front of us, the wires on the ceiling leading into said room. He ran ahead, pushing open the door without hesitation. Liam and I shared a nervous glance before running in after us, all three of us stopping when we saw what was behind that closed door.
It was Corey, that was the good thing. The bad thing was the fact that he had several different tubes impaling his body and wires everywhere. Green substances coming from the entrance wounds as well as dark green veins protruding from his face and neck. He looked up as us, his eyes glossed over, "Attention all passengers, the train will be arriving in 8 minutes."
I resisted the urge to throw up as I looked at the boy who had so quickly become one of my closest friends, pain was written all over his face and I began thinking of ways that we could help him.
Mason moved first, arriving at Corey's side, worry was basically dripping off of his face. He began analyzing the wires and tubes, trying to figure out a way to free his boyfriend. He touched one of the wires and Corey groaned out in pain.
"Okay, we need to unplug him-we need to just get him out of this thing." Mason rambled.
I nodded as I looked at the wires, "Maybe we should get the big one out first. It'll hurt like hell but-" I went to reach for the large wire but Liam cut me off.
"We can't" he announced, reaching put to lightly pull my hand away from Corey and the wires.
"Why not?" I demanded, looking from Liam, to Mason and then back to Corey.
Liam shook his head as he continued, "Not until your brother diverts the train."
"What are you talking about?" I asked, having no idea what he meant about diverting the train.
"Scott needs to divert the train so it'll go past Beacon Hills, it's the only way to stop the Wild Hunt from taking over. If we take out these wires it'll stop the merging and he won't we able to find the diverter." Liam explained.
"You want to just leave him like this?" Mason croaked, moving his eyes off of Corey to look his best friend in the eyes.
Liam was visibly upset that he had to do this, "We have to give Scott more time." he said apologetically.
"Look at him!" Mason countered, pointing to his boyfriend who was in visible pain "We need to do something!"
Corey slowly turned his head to look at Mason, it was the first time he had really acknowledged our presence since we got here, "Not yet." he croaked, slowly opening his hand so Mason could take a hold of it, "You have to try and save everyone first." he whispered.
"How do we save you?" Mason asked, holding back tears.
Corey just slowly shook his head, "Just save everyone else."
I felt my heart shatter as I watched the exchange, "Scott will get it, okay Corey? Just hold on." I pleaded, lightly grabbing a hold of his other hand.
Luckily my brother came through, like I knew he would. Within in a few minutes Liam turned his head, he was listening to something. By the expression on his face it must have been Scott, sending the signal that everything was in the clear.
"Now!" Liam yelled, causing Mason and I to both grab a hold of the wires.
Mason looked down at Corey in hesitation which caused Corey to nod slightly, "It's okay," he promised, "I'll heal."
"You promise?" Mason asked.
Corey nodded as he forced the smallest smile he could muster onto his face, "I promise."
With that confirmation, Mason, Liam and I began pulling. With each wire we pulled out a shock of electricity surged through it as Corey's screams ripped through the air. I winced with every pained scream left his lips.
"Almost there." I promised, grabbing the last wire and pulling. As I pulled something happened, I squeezed my eyes shut, opening the moments later to see that we weren't in the control room any longer. We were back in Beacon Hills.
I let out a gasp of surprise and excitement as I looked around. We were in the hospital, people milling all around us. Liam smiled at my excitement as he pulled me towards him in a tight hug.
"Sydney!?" I spun around at the calling of my name to see my mom and Chris Argent running towards me. My mom pulled me into her arms, hugging me so tight I could barely breathe.
"Mom." I chocked, trying to pry her off of me, "Mom, Corey needs help." I said, which caused her to pull away from me.
"Chris get a gurney." she instructed, Argent nodded as he ran off in search of one.
"I'm so happy to see you Syd." she smiled, brushing a piece of hair from my eyes.
"I missed you so much mom." I breathed, pulling her in for one more quick hug. As we pulled away Argent came flying around the corner, a gurney in tow.
"Okay, get him up." My mom ordered, as Liam and Mason helped Corey onto the gurney, "We're going to take care of you Corey, it'll be okay." she promised as they began wheeling him down the hall towards a room.
Liam and I stayed behind and I turned to look at him, "Maybe we should stay and make sure he's okay." I suggested, not wanting to leave incase something happened.
Liam shook his head with a small smile, "Your mom's got it taken care of. I think we should get you home, I know someone who wants to see you."
---
As we arrived at my house I let out a sigh of relief, I had never been so happy to see that house in my life. Liam held onto my hand as we walked up the front walkway, mounting the steps to the front door. I stopped for a moment, my hand hovering over the door knob, it was almost like I was nervous to see Scott, there was still something in me that was afraid he wouldn't remember me.
"It's okay Syd, he remembers you, trust me." Liam said softly as he placed his hand over top of mine to open the door.
As the door creaked open loud footsteps could be heard coming from the kitchen towards us, I barely had a chance to react by the time my big brother's arms were wrapped tightly around me, so tight that my feet left the ground.
"Syd." he breathed, hugging me even tighter.
"Hi Scott." I whispered, tightly wrapping my arms around his neck, "I missed you."
"I missed you too," he mumbled, "A lot." he added, as he set me back onto the ground. When he set me down I realized that we weren't the only people in the house. Behind Scott stood Malia, Lydia and Stiles.
A huge smile broke onto my face as Malia pulled me into a hug, followed my Lydia. After the two girls stepped away Stiles walked towards me, giving me his famous grin before enveloping me in a hug, "I told you I would get you out." he teased.
"I knew you would." I smiled, pulling away from him and looking around at all of my friends, "I knew you guys would save me."
