Moments after I closed the animal clinic door behind me, it reopened. A cold blast of air following Scott as he entered.

"Where's Stiles?" I demanded, following after Scott as he pushed past me, making his way toward the examination room.

My brother ignored me, not even turning around as he disappeared into the room. I pushed open the back door, poking my head out with the hopes of seeing Stiles talking on the phone, or grabbing something from his car, but instead all I saw was the hard rain coming down. He was gone.

An agitated sigh flew from my lips as I slammed the door for the second time today, stomping after my brother in anger. I barged into the examination room, ready to tear a strip off of him, but my words fell mute in my throat as my eyes landed on Hayden.

She was laying in Liam's arms, both of them seated in one of the corners. I felt a pang in my stomach at the sight of them, guilt soon encompassing me as I realized that Hayden wasn't doing well...she was dying.

"Scott, remember what you promised me?" Liam asked, his voice strained, "You said you'd do everything you could to save her. If she's a real werewolf we can save her." he remarked.

Scott looked at Liam, and then down at the ground, clearly thinking over our options. Hayden was dying, that was clear, but she was so weak, the bite could mean definite death.

"You've gotta give her the bite!" Liam urged, his hopeful eyes looked up at Scott. The only noise that could be heard throughout the whole clinic was Hayden gasping in pain, the rest of us were silent.

Finally, Scott spoke "No." he whispered, so quiet I could barely hear him.

Liam jumped to his feet, leaving Hayden leaning again the wall, "What do you mean no?" he snapped, now standing right in front of Scott.

I began to move toward them before stopping myself. This wasn't my fight- not anymore.

"Look at her," Scott announced pointing to Hayden, "She's too weak, it'll kill her. This can't be the only way to save her life." he stated calmly, trying to calm Liam.

Liam's face was masked in anger, "It saved mine." he argued.

"Well that was...different." Scott answered, his voice sounded thick, like he was having trouble speaking, "You were hanging off of a ledge."

"You promised!" Liam shouted, causing me to flinch, "You said you'd do everything you could!"

"Which is why I'm not going to something I think is going to kill her!" Scott shot back, "There has to be-" he paused, struggling to catch his breath, "There has to be-" he paused again.

I looked to him with concerned eyes, before shoving Liam back. Scott was having another asthma attack. "Give him some space." I ordered, sending Liam a pleading look.

"Scott!" Theo called, grabbing his attention before throwing him a puffer.

I furrowed my brows, wondering why the hell Theo had Scott's inhaler. Scott didn't seem to question it, shaking the inhaler before bringing it to his lips and taking a large breath. "There's another way to save her." he finally finished his earlier sentence.

"Guys!" Theo yelled, bringing everyone's attention toward him, "I don't know what the statistics are for surviving a werewolf bite, but she's definitely not surviving this!" he pointed out, "We need to do something!"

I looked at Hayden, trying to figure out what we could do. Finally, I moved toward the exam table, "Get her up on the table." I instructed, looking around for some of Deaton's tools.

Everyone turned to look at me, shocked looks on their faces. Despite my order, none of them moved.

"Are you going to do it, or do I have to do it myself?" I demanded, impatiently resting my hands on my hips. The boys snapped out of their little daze, Theo immediately placing Hayden on the examination table.

I hesitantly placed my warm hand on her cool wrist."Her pulse is weak." I murmured."We need to get an IV in her, she needs fluid."

Liam looked over to me, his eyes full of worry. "Do you know how?"

"Yes" I answered, before slightly tipping my head to the side in hesitation, "Well kind of. "

Now, I  was no professional, but after years of watching my mother work, and watching my fair share of Grey's Anatomy, I was what you could call an amateur.

"I'm calling mom." Scott announced, stepping out of the room, the phone already to his ear.

I sighed, disappointed at at the lack of trust he had in me. But it was probably for the better, my mom could help Hayden better than any of us could. "Hand me that blanket please." I asked, turning to Theo.

He gave me a small smile as he handed me a folded up blanket that sat on the side counter. I took it from his hands, draping it over Hayden's shivering body, "You're going to be okay, Hayden." I promised.

As much as I was envious of her, I didn't want Hayden to die...I didn't want anyone to die.

---

My mom had arrived not too long after Scott had called her with the medical supplies needed to help Hayden.

"What is that?" Liam questioned as my mother pulled a bag of fluid out of the cooler she had brought.

"It's called chelation therapy," My mom answered, moving quickly to get the IV set up, "It removes heavy metals from the blood. The only problem is, it can injure the kidney's and Hayden only has one to begin with."

I nervously glanced down at Hayden as my mom readied the needle. As my mom began to insert the IV, Hayden flinched. In reaction to that, Liam's hand shot out, gripping onto my mother's wrist. "You're hurting her!" he exclaimed.

My mom let out a calming sigh as she turned to Liam, her voice steady, "And you're hurting me."

Scott's head shot up at my mom's words, his eyes darkening as they focused on Liam. I glanced between the two boys, afraid something was going to happen.

Liam's eyes softened as he released my mom's arm, "Sorry." he whispered.

"Guys," Theo spoke, "We're here to save a life. Not kill each other. Remember?" he reminded, raising his brows.

"It's the full moon." Scott explained, looking to Liam, "We can feel it even during the day."

"And it's the Super Moon." Theo added.

"What's that supposed to mean?" My mom asked, looking up as she finished inserting the IV, "Are you guys like super strong? Super aggressive?"

Scott let out. a shaky sigh, "Both."

---
I watched as my mom hovered over Hayden who lay shivering on the table. She had fallen asleep close to twenty minutes ago, and my mom had sent the boys out to the waiting room. I had stayed behind, offering to help my mom with whatever she needed. But it turns out, all we could do for Hayden right now was wait.

My mom looked up at me, watching as I nervously played with my fingers, kicking my feet as I sat on the countertop. She gave me a soft smile, "I know this must be hard for you." she spoke softly.

I looked up at her, giving her a confused look, "I'm fine." I answered, "I'm just worried about Hayden." I explained, looking down at my hands before adding, "And Liam."

My mom nodded, coming to stand in front of me, "I've noticed you've been pretty down lately." she explained, giving me a sad look. "Seeing your first love move on, it's not easy."

I pushed down the lump in my throat as I met her eyes, "I broke up with Liam." I reminded, "I deserve what I get."

"No," my mom whispered, lightly shaking her head, "You don't." she brushed a piece of hair from my eyes. "I'm going to tell you the same thing I told your brother when he was your age" she declared, "You fall in love more than once," she promised, "I know it hurts right now, but things do get better."

Tears swelled in my eyes as I looked down at my hands for a moment, "I don't want to love anyone else." I admitted, looking back up at her, "I still love Liam."

My mom nodded sadly before pulling me into her chest, "I know you feel like that right now, but your feelings will change." she asserted.

I let my tears soak her shirt, but remained silent. I didn't believe her, at least not right now. I wasn't sure if what I felt for Liam was every going to go away.

Finally, my mom pulled back, wiping the tears from my face as she helped me down from where I was seated. "Why don't you go wait with the boys." she suggested, "It's more comfortable out there."

I looked over to Hayden, noting that she was still asleep, before nodding. "Okay." I whispered, giving my mom a small smile before making my way out to the waiting room.

As I rounded the corner, I stopped myself, trying to recompose my appearance before making my way out there. However, as I was about to make myself known to the boys, Scott and Liam's voices filled the room, causing me to stop once again.

"I just don't get why you can't bite her?" Liam demanded, his voice angry, "If it will save her life just-"

"Because I can't Liam!" Scott snapped, his own voice full of frustration, "Okay? Just drop it!"

I couldn't see Liam, but I could only imagine the angered look on his face, "You know if that was Sydney you would have bitten her hours ago! You would have done anything to save her!"

Scott scoffed, "Well it's not Sydney!" he boomed, "You think you're in love with Hayden, Liam, but you're not. You're letting whatever you think you're feeling get in the way of your better judgement."

I felt my face fall at my brother's words, I couldn't believe he was speaking to Liam like this, that he was speaking to anyone like this. I finally pushed myself into the room, my anger eyes landing on my brother, "Scott!" I warned, quickly noting the anger on Liam's face.

Liam was fuming, but instead of saying anything, he stormed off down the hall, to where, I didn't know.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" I snapped, looking at the boy who barely reminded me of my brother.

When Scott didn't me, answer I turned and left in search of Liam. I made my way down the hallway, stopping when I saw him sitting against the wall, his knees pulled to his chest. I hesitantly approached him, stopping once I was in front of him. "I'm so sorry, Liam." I whispered, causing him to look up at me, "I don't know what Scott was thinking."

He didn't say anything as I sat down beside him, just watched me. I shook my head before speaking again, "He has no right to tell you how you feel." I proclaimed, giving him a sad look.

Liam let out a shaky sigh, "He's right." he muttered, almost so quiet I couldn't hear him.

I looked over to him in confusion, "What are you talking about?" I demanded.

"I don't love Hayden." He admitted, his blue eyes locking with mine.

I shook my head, at a loss for words, "I don't understand."

"You." he announced, "I love you."

My eyes were wide as I leaned back slightly, taken aback by his words. "But you told me it was too late...that you were happy!" I argued, not expecting to receive this information tonight, or at all for that matter.

Liam let out a sigh, "I was wrong! I loved you since the minute I first saw you," he exclaimed, "I thought that I could move on with Hayden, especially when I saw you the way Theo looked at you, but-" he cut himself off, shaking his head, "I've never stopped loving you." his face was full as emotion as he stared back at me.

I was at a loss for words.

But before I could say anything else, Liam's lips were against mine.
