I looked over at a flustered looking Lydia as she turned in circles, taking in the chaos.
"So many people" she muttered to herself, before she turned toward a group of kids, "Hey!" she yelled, glaring at someone messing around near the TV.
"Lydia?" I called, pushing through the crowd, "I'm going to go check in Scott and Kira. Will you be okay here?
She nodded, placing a reassuring hand on my arm, "Yeah, goI'll be fine." she promised, her eyes then narrowing on another group getting too close to the TV.
I gave her a grateful smile before making my way to the front door, glancing behind me to ensure that no one was going to follow me.
A chill ran through the air as I walked down the dirt path that led to the boathouse. I could feel myself shiver, the sound of the music from the house could still faintly be heard until I was almost to the lake. I crossed my arms over my chest, trying to shield myself from the cold as I arrived in front of the wooden building.
"Scott!" I called, looking around in hopes of seeing my brother. "Kira?" I yelled, hoping at least one of them would come outside.
When I received no answer from either of them, I walked slowly toward one the windows pressing my face against it, trying to get a look inside. Before I had a chance to react, I was sent flying backward, landing harshly on the ground as glass shattered down on top of me. But glass wasn't the only thing that landed on me. My eyes sprung open to meet with the glowing yellow ones of a freshly turned werewolf. Liam.
My heart pounded against my ribcage as I stared up at him, his yellow eyes boring into mine. I knew that he could have me ripped to shreds in a split second. His breathing was heavy was he looked down at me, his chest heaving rapidly.
My eyes filled with terror as I anticipated what was going to happen next. A growl flew from Liam's mouth as he barred his teeth. This was it.
But, for a reason I can't explain, Liam didn't kill me. Instead, he pushed himself off of me and disappeared into the forest.
A mangled sob escaped my lips as I rolled onto my side, trying to calm my breathing. He could have killed me...but he didn't.
"Sydney!" Scott yelled, and within seconds he was next to me.
Worry flooded through his voice as he sat me up, examining my face and limbs, ensuring they were all intact, "Are you okay? Did-did he hurt you? Did he-"
I cut him off with the shake of my head, "-He didn't do anything," I whispered, still in disbelief.
Kira looked over to Scott, "Why didn't he hurt her?" she questioned, clearly just as confused as me.
Scott shook his head, his eyes travelling to where Liam had run off, "I don't know." he admitted.
I pushed myself off of the ground and carefully brushed the glass off of me, some had cut my face and arms, but besides that I was okay. Entirely okay.
Scott pushed himself to his feet as well, placing a supportive hand on my back, "Are you sure you're okay?"
I nodded, still in shock, "I'm good." I whispered.
Scott turned to Kira, "Can you please stay with her?" He pleaded, his eyes then drifting back out to the dark forest, "I need to find him."
Kira nodded, lightly taking a hold of my arm, "I'll take her back to the lake house and see if we can find some first aid stuff.
Scott nodded, giving her a grateful smile before, "Thank you." He mumbled, giving me a final look over before he ran off in search of his beta,
Kira shivered as we made our way back up to the house, "Is it just me or is it really creepy out here?" Kira asked.
"It's not just you, don't worry" I muttered looking around, mostly all I saw was trees, darkness and water.
When we got back to the lakehouse we snaked through the crowd of people looking for the bathroom. We received a few confused looks at the state of my appearance, but no one actually said something.
"There it is" Kira announced, pointing to the washroom before pulling me inside. She flicked on the light and opened the cabinet. She looked through it for a moment before finding what we needed, "Ah ha." she grinned, pulling out a first aid kit.
I smiled at her as I took the kit from her hand, "I can take it from here." I announced, giving her a thankful smile.
Kira stared at me for a moment, "Are you sure?"
I nodded, pushing her toward the bathroom door, "Go find Lydia. She probably needs some help."
She nodded as she pulled open the door, "I'll find you in a bit" She promised before disappearing into the crowd.
I let out a small sigh as I closed the door, allowing my body to relax against the countertop. A million thoughts ran through my head as the events of the last hour replayed. My biggest concern at the moment was that Liam was okay. Who knows what he was thinking, how scared he was.
I pushed those thoughts aside as I fished through the first aid kit, finding some bandaids to cover my wounds. I cringed when I looked back at my appearance. A few small cuts littered my face, and my arms were now covered in bandaids. Someone was sure to ask what the hell happened.
I was expecting questions, but not so soon. As I pulled open the door, I ran into Mason. Relief covered his face at the sight of me, "Sydney have you-" He cut himself off as his eyes grew wide,- Woah are you okay?" he asked, surveying the cuts on my face.
I nodded, giving him a small smile, "I fell...outside." I explained, trying to think of a logical story, "One too many drinks I guess."
Mason seemed to buy my story, "Ouch." he muttered before his expression changed as he seemed to remember why he was speaking to me in the first place, "Have you seen Liam? I haven't seen him all night and he told me he came here with you and a junior so I thought you might know where he is."
I felt myself push down the lump in my throat. What I wanted to say was "Oh, you mean your best friend? The one my brother bit and turned into a werewolf? Yeah, he's in the woods, he almost just killed me but don't worry, he didn't."
Instead, I shook my head, giving Mason an apologetic look, "Sorry, I haven't seen him since we got here."
Mason nodded, biting down on his lip, "Where the hell is he?" He muttered, giving me a small smile before walking away.
If only he knew.

Finally the party had ended and the place was empty. But our night was far from over. Lydia had spent a majority of the party upstairs, listening to some record player in order to break "the code." The code that she managed to break, just so happened to be a dead pool of all the supernatural creatures in Beacon Hills, all of my friends included.
"A Dead Pool" Stiles asked in disbelief, everyone wore equally shocked expressions as Kira and Lydia explained what they found.
Kira nodded in response to Stiles' questions, her expression dripping with fear, "Each person has a value attached to them."
"A price." Lydia added from where she stood.
Stiles let out a shaky sigh as he looked between the two girls, "Who made it?" he questioned, asking the question we were all wondering.
Lydia shook her head, a defeated look covering her face, "We don't know- not yet."
"But you guys are all on it?" Stiles asked, trying to figure out what this truly was, and what it really meant.
Scott clenched his jaw, worry covering his face, "Yeah"
I looked up at them from my spot on the couch, as much as I wanted to hear about this I couldn't keep my eyes open.
Scott sighed, shaking his head as he motioned to Liam and I who were seated on opposite ends of the couch, "They need to be taken home." he announced.
"I'll take them" Stiles offered. "Too much has happened tonight for me to focus, we can deal with this in the morning."
Scott nodded gratefully, "Okay, thanks." he breathed, shooting me a look to make sure I was okay with going with Liam. I gave him a small nod, letting him know I would be okay.
"I'm going to stay here with Lydia" Kira announced.
"Me too" Malia added.
"Okay, just let us know how it goes" Stiles said tiredly, before turning to Liam and I, "Come on you two youngins."
As Liam and I made our way outside, his eyes stayed locked on me, a look of guilt covering his face. Stiles must have become preoccupied inside, as he had not yet joined us. I awkwardly cleared my throat as the two of us approached the Jeep, Liam's eyes still on me.
"Sydney?" he called, softly grabbing a hold of my arm. I mentally kicked myself as I flinched at his touch, causing him to pull away, a hurt look covering his face. "I'm sorry." he whispered, guilt dripping from his every word, "I didn't mean to hurt you."
I gave him a small smile, shaking my head, "You didn't." I promised, "I'm okay."
An uneasy look still covered his face, and it looked like he wanted to say something else but he didn't have the chance.
"Ready you two?" Stiles asked, emerging from the house and making his way toward us.
I gave Liam another small smile before climbing into the Jeep. The minute my head leaned against the window, I was drifting off.
---
I awoke to someone lightly tapping my arm, but before I had the chance to open my eyes, a punch was harshly delivered into the side of my arm. My eyes shot open to see Stiles giving me a cheesy grin.
"Why'd you do that?" I groaned, pushing myself up from where I had been resting against the window.
Stiles threw his arms up, looking over to Liam, "Well he couldn't wake you up."
I turned to look at Liam, giving him a small grin when I realized he had been the one nicely trying to wake me up. He returned the smile, a small laugh flying from his lips as Stiles turned back around in his seat, nodding out the window.
"We're at you house, so get out." Stiles ordered, turning to me with a huge grin. I rolled my eyes as I pulled myself out of the Jeep, shooting Stiles a glare as I did so.
"Thanks for the ride, loser." I muttered, turning to give him a smirk. Stiles narrowed his eyes at me as he started the Jeep up again.
"Bye Liam." I called, making my way up to the house before I could hear his answer.
