Y/N POV
On the walk to East Gorteau, we devise a plan. We are going to split up. Killua is going to go and try to save people. He claims that he worked better alone, and me and Gon didn't argue.
Breaking off on my own mission, I head to the capital, not stopping for anyone or anything. But before I know it, I'm drained.
My cinquedeas make it easy for me to cut through the bark of the surrounding forest. Quickly, I make a makeshift shelter before I go in and fall asleep. As if I've had it forever, my hand comfortingly twisting the ring around my finger.
I wake up to a buzzing on my finger. I slap my hand, assuming its a meddlesome bug, but the buzzing continues. I rub my eyes and see my ring buzzing on my finger. Instantly, my eyes fly open and my body awakens. Killua's bleeding.
I start to panic. Pakunoda's voice invades my thoughts.
Whenever I have panic attacks, I just try to breathe slowly and deeply, counting to six with each breath. It's always helped me. Wanna try with me, Y/N?
KILLUA POV
I wake up to Ikalgo and a woman arguing. She turns, and I see that it's Y/N. She leaps onto the bed, collapsing on my sitting form and wrapping her arms around me.
"I thought I lost you," she sobs. "I woke up to my ring buzzing, and I followed the compass here. When I came down, all I saw was him holding you. You were covered with blood, Killua. All I could think was that I wasn't here for you." Tears fall from her eyes as she buries herself around me.
My jaw falls slack. I hug her back, stroking her hair. Out of the corner of my eyes, I see Ikalgo start to whistle and look away.
We're quiet for some time, her sobs echoing in my head as I continue to soothe her. I don't even feel any of my injuries. Looking at my arms, I see they're all healed.
"Did you heal me?"
She nods against my chest. I push her forward a little so I can see her face. Cupping it, I start to wipe away at her tears.
"How long was I out?"
"Two days," she tells me. "I healed you but you've just been lying there. Not moving, barely breathing, and your blood was all over the sheets." She starts hiccupping and sits back, wiping her tears with her sleeve. "I've never been so scared in my life."
I pull her back to me, cradling her body against mine while I run my hands through her hair. Ikalgo comes back up to us, talking to me. I don't focus on anything he says, instead staring at her the entire time.
Y/N POV • TIME SKIP
Killua, Gon, Ikalgo, Shoot, Knuckle, and Meleoron, who's another Chimera Ant that Gon recruited, decide to meet up in an abandoned warehouse to go over the plan. There, Gon and everyone fills us in on what has been happening to them. After that, we construct a plan. I was to be helping Morel defeat Shaiapouf since Knov was out of the equation.
"Also," Knuckle says. "Knov-san wants you to know that he admires you for facing the Royal Guard's aura and still wanting to take on Neferpitou. He apologizes for the way he acted when you told him that you had fled."
"It's okay," Gon says flatly. "It doesn't matter."
We continue with the plan.
The day comes way too quickly. We go into Knov's rooms and wait for him to come back with the portal. Killua falls asleep, head on my lap. Absentmindedly, I start to braid his hair. Gon finds my backpack, which I plan to keep in this room that Knov has made with his Nen, and snaps a picture on my polaroid.
I don't move as Gon shows it to me, so Killua doesn't wake up, but I laugh at the picture he took. Gon places the camera and the picture back into my backpack, winking at me and putting a finger to his lips, signifying that he doesn't want me to show Killua.
The aforementioned boy wakes up right as we start to get ready to go off. I steady myself on the tiled floor.
"You ready?" Killua whispers to me. I nod, not trusting my voice.
A purplish-blackish hole appears in front of us, and out of it steps a frail old man. I let out a quiet gasp. Knov.
He nods at us, before moving out of the way and revealing the whole portal. "This will take you to the castle," he says quietly.
Morel jumps first, and then somehow, it's my turn.
Looking back, the only person behind me is Killua. He nods at me, motioning that he's right behind me. I turn back around, ready to go through, when I feel a hand wrap around my wrist.
"Promise me. Promise me you'll make it out of this alive." His voice is solemn.
"I promise you." He nods, letting go of me. "You promise me too. Me and you, we'll make it out of this alive."
"I promise we will."
