Y/N POV
When I wake up, Grandpa Netero is sitting next to me.
"Heh, heh, heh! Finally, you are awake. Would you like me to tell you what happened?"
"Sure," I reply monotonously.
He does so, pouring tea for himself and drinking it. He gets to the part about the new Hunters being in a room for information on Hunters, I start to grow interested.
"You're telling me that the orientation ended a few minutes ago?"
"Yes."
I rush out from under the blankets and over to the courtyard. I see Gon, Leorio, and Kurapika. "Guys!" I yell, waving.
"Y/N! Are you ok?" Kurapika asks looking at my face.
"I'm all fine! Where are you guys heading?"
"To the library," Leorio says. "We're going to go to a place called Kukuroo Mountain."
"Why?"
"I assume you've heard of what's happened while you and Gon were knocked out." I nod. "Well, Killua's gone to his 'home,' or Kukuroo Mountain. We are going to save him."
"Oh," I say coldly. The rest of them notice my tone but don't say anything "When you save him, then, give him my regards. Actually, could you give him this?" I give Gon a polaroid before walking away.
"Wait!" Gon shouts. "You're not going to come with us?"
"No, I won't. Also, Kurapika, I need to talk to you."
I head over to some trees and sit down. Kurapika sits down and immediately hugs me. I hug him back. "Thank goodness you are safe. What do you need to ask?"
I whisper it in his ear. Kurapika draws back in shock. "Absolutely not. You're not getting hurt."
I tsk. "I'm going to go with or without your permission. I hope we will meet on better terms and you will see what I'm talking about. Just know that I'm on your side."
"Fine," he whispers back. "I know how stubborn you are. Meet me on September 1st, Yorknew City."
I nod, and Kurapika stares at me as I walk away, disappearing from the courtyard.
KILLUA POV • TIME SKIP
I'm in the dungeon of our mansion, chains holding me down at my feet and hands. Scars from the whip were all over my body, but I was healing rapidly, even though Milluki is whipping me non-stop.
"Wake up!" He whips me again.
I look up innocently. "Oh. Morning, bro. What time is it?"
Milluki keeps on whipping me as if Mother is here and he is trying to prove his worth to her. He isn't the strongest, though; let's just say that.
"Don't be arrogant, Kil!"
"What? I feel really bad about stabbing you, Bro." Now I am just bragging about how I had hurt him and how he had been defenseless against it. "Sorry. It was the wrong thing to do."
"You're lying!" He whips me over and over.
When he stops, I spit out blood and look at him devilishly. He backs up a little bit. "You can tell?"
Milluki scowls at me when the phone rings. It's Mother. He keeps grunting and hangs up. "Kil," he mocks. "Your friends are near the butler's office. How about it, Kil?" He laughs. "If I ask, those three can become-"
Three? Is someone not here? No time. I'm not going to voice my suspicions. I throw my left hand out, and the chain comes out from the wall as easily as slicing warm butter. I look at him, eyes wide open, my body swinging. "If you so much as touch them, I'll kill you."
The door opens. It's Grandfather. He walks slowly but powerfully over here, hands behind his back. "That's enough, Milluki."
"But Grandpa Zeno! He's not even sorry!" He points at me accusingly.
"I know. Kil, you can go."
"Okayyy." I snap the chains off my wrists and feet, dropping gracefully to the floor. I do an arm circle with one hand and then walk out, saying, "Man, that hurt. Bro, I'm not sorry."
I can feel Milluki's teeth knashing together. I laugh inwardly. "But I do feel bad. So I let you slap me around."
"Also, Kil." Grandpa looks at me. "Your father wishes to talk to you."
Shit. "Okay."
I go up to his room. We start talking, and soon I'm telling him stories about Gon and Y/N and the exam.
"Kil," he says. "You must promise me that you will never betray your friends."
"I promise," I said.
"Then you may go."
I blink. Oh wow. That was easier than I had imagined it would go.
I get to the butler's mansion. I'm greeted by Gotoh. By now, only a few scratches are left on my body, and they are red marks on my cheeks. "Gotoh, where's Gon and Y/N now? You do know right?" A smile lights up my face.
"Canary is bringing your friends here, Killua-sama, but I do not know who she is coming with," he tells me.
"Really?" I walk into the house. As Gotoh closes the door, I ask him to remind me the second Gon and Y/N are here.
"Yes, sir. I shall notify you immediately."
Time passes and by now it's dark. I start to wander through the house. I hear clapping in a room. Is Gotoh doing one of his coin tricks? Is it for them?
I open the door. "Gotoh! Are they here yet?"
"Killua!" Gon spins around, smiling.
"Oh, you're here Gon!" I grin and rush up to him. "Along with . . ." I struggle to remember their names. "Kurapika?"
"I'm just an afterthought?" Annoyance rings through his voice tinged with relief. "Liorio!" I exclaim, pointing to the next man.
"IT'S LEORIO!" he shouts. I grin harder. There is the anger I remembered.
"It's been a while. I can't believe you came! What happened?" I smirk, pointing at Gon. "Your face is a wreck!"
Gon grins back. "Yours isn't any better!" We laugh.
"Where's Y/N?"
Gon looks at me before looking up, his brow furrowed in thought. "Well, she wanted us to let you know that she says hello," he says after some thought, enunciating the pronouns. "She's really mad at you!"
I groan. Of course she is. "Okay. Anyway, let's go somewhere else right now. If we stay here, my mother will give us an earful!"
They grab their stuff. I point at Gotoh. "Ay, Gotoh. I don't care what Mother says. Don't follow me."
"I understand." He bows, and we leave.
Walking out, Gon suddenly takes something from his backpack. I stare at it, not saying anything. "From Y/N," I hear in the back of my head.
It's the polaroid. The one Kurapika had taken back then. I stare at the main people in the picture, Y/N and me. We're grinning, and it was so big.
I turn over the polaroid. I see a note from her.
Hola. Soy, Dora. Do you know how to stand up, pick up your pride, and say, "I'm sorry?". Love, Y/N.
"Is there something on the back?" Gon asks curiously.
Laughter starts pouring out of me. "There's nothing."
We're in the village near Kukuroo Mountain and board a train. Filing into a cabin, a conversation picks up before shifting to Hisoka and where he's at. Kurapika tells us what Hisoka told him and we slowly drift into the topic of Yorknew City.
At the station, Kurapika bids us farewell, and so does Leorio.
"So we'll be meeting again . . ."
"Yorknew City, September 1st!"
