"WAKE YOUR ASS UP, TAYEN!" her mother's voice thundered from downstairs, jolting her half out of her dream.

Tayen groaned, barely cracking her eyes open against the morning light. She blindly reached for her phone on the nightstand.

"7:20? Again?" she mumbled, rubbing her eyes and sighing heavily. "Dude, it's the same time every day. Why do I act surprised?"

A voice from the other side of the bed startled her. "Maybe because you're technically a professional sleeper?"

"Holy—!" Tayen yelped, clutching her chest as she turned to face Leilani, her best friend. "You scared the hell out of me. I forgot you were here."

Leilani laughed, sitting up and stretching. "Good morning to you, too. I'm gonna go freshen up." She slid off the bed and headed toward the bathroom.

"Good morning, Tayen," her mom called out as she walked past the door. "There's food downstairs if you're hungry."

"Okay, thank you, Mom," Tayen replied, forcing herself to sit up. She swung her legs over the side of the bed and groaned again before finally mustering the willpower to get up.

Downstairs, the smell of bacon and eggs greeted her, along with the sight of Leilani already sitting at the dining table, looking smug.

"Why the hell are you always teleporting around my house? Holy shit," Tayen grumbled, pulling out a chair and flopping into it.

Leilani giggled. "My bad. I'm just a chill girl who likes to teleport. You know how it is."

Tayen rolled her eyes, grabbing a plate and piling on some food. As she sat down and took a massive bite of bacon, she remembered something.

"Oh, I forgot to tell you," she began, her mouth half-full. "You know that girl Eliana? She messaged me on Instagram last night before I went to bed."

Leilani's eyebrows shot up in interest. "No way. What did she say?"

"She was like, 'Hey, you're so pretty,' and I was like, 'Aww, thank you, but literally all you,'" Tayen recounted, gesturing dramatically with her fork. "And then she said, 'I think we went to the same school together.'"

"HOLY SHIT. dude you should've pulled some hey mamas shit on her" Leilani teased, laughing so hard she nearly spilled her orange juice.

Tayen gave her an exaggerated glare. "What the hell? No. I'm not a 'Hey, mamas' lesbian, okay? I'm a cutesy lesbian. Please get it right." She stood up a little straighter, feigning confidence.

"Yeah, okay, Miss 'Cutesy Lesbian,'" Leilani said, still laughing as Tayen's phone dinged on the table.

Tayen glanced at the screen, and her heart skipped a beat when she saw Eliana's name lighting up the notification.

"Speak of the devil," Leilani said, leaning over to peek. "What did she say?"

Tayen hesitated for a moment before unlocking her phone. "Hold on, let me see..."

Tayen giggled softly at her phone, biting her lip to suppress a bigger smile.

"What the hell are you laughing at?" Leilani demanded, narrowing her eyes. She held out her hand, wiggling her fingers impatiently. "Let me see!"

Tayen hesitated, clutching her phone to her chest like it was a precious secret. "No, you're just gonna make it weird."

"I already think it's weird. Let me see!" Leilani lunged across the table, snatching the phone before Tayen could stop her.

"Hey!" Tayen protested, but it was already too late. Leilani's eyes darted across the screen, her jaw slowly dropping.

"Wait, dude... she's flirting with you," Leilani said, her voice rising with excitement as her eyes widened.

Tayen furrowed her brow and shrugged. "No, she's not. Well... I don't think she is," she said, though her cheeks betrayed her, flushing pink.

"Oh, she totally is." Leilani smirked, leaning back in her chair. She handed the phone back dramatically, like she'd just uncovered some juicy secret. "Femxfem... great fanfic material.." (WINKWINK)

Tayen groaned, rolling her eyes as Leilani burst into a fit of giggles. "Can you not? I'm trying to live my life, and you're out here turning it into a damn Wattpad story."

"Girl, your life is a Wattpad story," Leilani shot back, tossing a piece of toast into her mouth.
