"IM ABOUT TO DIE" Tayen groaned dramatically, collapsing onto her bed. She had just wrapped another long day of filming for her Netflix series and was completely drained.

"Dude, you are so extra," her older brother, Takoda, said as he leaned against her bedroom door.

"I'm not extra. My legs just hurt!" Tayen shot back, smiling despite her over-the-top complaint.

Takoda raised an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed. "Yeah, well, so do mine, and you don't see me whining like a baby."

"That's because you're, like, half-robot or something," Tayen teased

"Yeah, keep telling yourself that," Takoda replied, smirking as he pushed off the doorframe and walked over to her desk.

Leilani, Tayen's best friend of three years, was sitting cross-legged on the floor, tying her hair up for bed. "Honestly, Tay, Takoda's not wrong. You're dramatic as hell."

"Well..." Tayen floundered, looking between the two of them as they stared her down.

"Well, what?" Takoda challenged, folding his arms as he waited.

"Well... nothing," Tayen admitted sheepishly. "She kind of, like, lowkey clocked me."

The room erupted in laughter, and Tayen couldn't help but join in. As much as she loved teasing her brother, she also loved how easily he and Leilani could make her laugh.

Once the moment passed, the girls began getting ready for bed while Takoda sat scrolling on his phone. Tayen was just about to turn off her bedside lamp when Leilani let out a loud gasp.

"HOLY SHIT THIS GIRL IS SO PRETTY!" Leilani exclaimed, holding up her phone for Tayen to see.

Startled, Tayen sat up. "Who?"

Leilani shoved the phone toward her. "This girl Eliana Kalogeras!"

Tayen squinted at the screen, her brow furrowing. "Eliana Kalogeras?" she repeated, testing the unfamiliar yet familiar name. "I feel like I've heard that name before..."

Leilani shrugged as she continued scrolling. "She's from Yeg, like you. Maybe you've seen each other?"

"Eliana..." Tayen said softly, her tone almost thoughtful. She reached for her phone, curiosity taking over. Typing the name into Instagram, she found the profile quickly.

Her gaze lingered on the girl's most recently posted picture, light brownish, curly hair framing a radiant smile. Tayen scrolled through a few posts, her lips curving into a small smile she didn't even realize she was wearing.

"She's really pretty," Tayen admitted quietly, almost to herself.

"Told you!" Leilani said, grinning happily .

"Do you know her?" Takoda asked from the desk, glancing up from his own phone.

Tayen shook her head. "No... but I feel like I should," she replied honestly.

For reasons she couldn't quite explain, the thought of Eliana lingered in her mind longer than she expected, leaving her intrigued

So she decided to press follow.

THE CURLY HAIRD GIRL glanced at her phone, her brows knitting together in curiosity.

"Mia, do you know who this is?" she asked, turning the screen toward her sister.

Demitra barely glanced up from her own phone. "Umm... Tayen Lightfoot? She went to the same school as you at one point, I think. She's, like, really famous now," Demitra said with a casual shrug before refocusing on her screen.

Eliana tilted her head, her curiosity deepening. "Promise?" she asked, her voice soft but insistent.

"Promise," Demitra replied without hesitation, briefly looking up to meet her sister's eyes before returning to her scrolling.

Eliana stared at her phone again, her thumb hovering over the screen as she took in the picture of Tayen. The name tugged at her memory, but the connection still felt fuzzy, like trying to recall a distant dream.

"She's really that famous?" Eliana murmured, more to herself than to her sister.

"Yeah," Mia answered nonchalantly. "Netflix series, Avatar the last air bender, all that stuff. Pretty sure she's a big deal."

Eliana remained quiet, her thumb brushing absentmindedly across the edge of the phone. Something about seeing Tayen's face again stirred a strange mix of emotions—familiarity, intrigue, and maybe even a little excitement.

"You okay?" Mia asked, finally noticing her sister's thoughtful expression.

"Yeah," Eliana replied quickly, her lips twitching into a small, uncertain smile. "Just... weird to think someone I went to school with ended up famous. Kinda like us"

"Well, you better get used to it," Mia teased. "Yeg girls can do big things, you know."

Eliana laughed softly at her sister's comment but didn't say anything else. Instead, she followed the profile back for later, unable to shake the strange pull that name and face had on her.
