Two weeks had passed since I had returned to Hogwarts. I had fallen into a routine. Class, homework, eat, sleep. A part of me wished I could see Reggie more but he was stuck in his classes as well as quidditch.
But today was different, I had seen a lot of him but not in a good mood.
"Honestly Rosier, just fuck off," Reggie spat pushing Evan out of the way and turning the corner.
"Who put a stick up his ass," Alec asked as we both watched him walk away.
Alec and I were sitting in the Great Hall grabbing a snack before I had to head off to Alchemy. I was late for class but Alec had pulled me aside–no, strangled me until I came to get some food since it was her free period.
"Syl, can we talk," Evan asked walking over to Alec and I.
"Yeah, what's up," I asked as he sat down.
Evan put his head in his hands and groaned, "It's Reggie, I haven't seen him like this in a while."
I rubbed his shoulder in comfort telling him to continue.
"Last then he was like this, it was when Sirius ran away last year. That filthy blood traitor, but still his older brother. I cannot fathom what he was feeling at the moment but that's where his attitude got worse. Being a part of one of the most powerful pure-blood families gives you the attitude. Sylvie, this version of him was so much worse," Evan ranted sighing.
"Oh Evan—," I started saying before he cut me off.
He continued, "I stayed friends with him thought out the whole thing. I took his anger and pain without question because he's my best friend and always will be."
I started again, "Evan—."
He held up a hand stopping me, "Let me just vent. Now with the whole betrothal contract, he's being forced to act a certain way, look a certain way, and be just but cruel. Sylvie, there is no doubt inside me that he doesn't love you, he truly does, ever since you were children but he hates not being able to love you on his own terms."
Alec spoke up, "I can agree to that, he's never been as cruel as he has ever been to Sylvie. Sure attitude but he's never been the way he has with others."
"I do get it. He's allowed to feel like this but it's gotten so far. He's not even treating us, his friends, like we are his friends. I know the fear and disappointment that he's trying to escape but we are here for him. Reggie is cutting us out. Please Syl, you're the only person he will listen to. Please talk to him. The attitude at most needs to go, for his friends at least," Evan said holding my hands with teary eyes.
"Evy, I'll try," I said with a small smile.
"Come on, drink some water," Alec said passing him a goblet of water.
"Thanks," he said downing it in seconds.
"You want a hug," I asked.
Evan rolled his eyes, "I'm not a baby—."
I cut him off and hugged him as Alec joined in, "You're a baby."
"Sylvie," Evan yelled laughing.
"Aw poor baby," Alec teased using a baby voice.
"I hate you both," Evan said swatting us both away standing up and backing away from us in protection.
"You love us," Alec and I said in sync.
"Sure," he said rolling his eyes with a smile.
I suddenly saw the time, "Oh fuck, shit! I'm so late for Alchemy!"
"Safe travels," Evan yelled as I started running up the stairs and through the many, many random hallways.

"Reggie," I called as I walked into our shared dorm.
He was sitting on the couch slouched over doing his homework, "What?"
"Can we talk," I asked dropping my bag and moving closer to him.
"No," Reggie answered quickly.
"Why," I asked sighing as I stood behind him.
"I'm busy," he said dryly.
I hesitantly reached out putting my hands on his shoulders and squeezed them. He tensed up but didn't do anything so I continued moving my hands along his neck and shoulders trying to relieve some stress.
He groaned, "You have no idea how much I need that."
"What's been on your mind," I asked moving his homework to the side and perching myself on the table.
Reggie didn't meet my eyes, "Work."
"We all have, what's actually bothering you," I asked again.
He finally met my eyes and said, "You."
I stared at him blankly, "What about me?"
"Always in the way," Reggie suddenly yelled.
I stood up, my anger getting the best out of me, "Excuse me?"
Reggie stood up in anger as well, "You! Always in the fucking way. I can't do shit without worrying about what's going to happen to you!"
"You haven't even talked about it with me so how am I supposed to help you," I screamed stepping back.
His anger lashed out, "Why can't you just shut up and sit down? Why do you have to be in my life? Now all I can do is try to protect you from them but they just won't stop. Just stop!"
I stared at him in bewilderment not processing his care for me but instead his anger, "Nobody asked you to!"
"CAN YOU SEE THAT I CAN'T DO THAT," Reggie yelled stepping closer to me.
"THEN LEARN HOW TO," I yelled stepping so I was only an inch away and jabbing a finger into his chest.
"GOD SYLVIE. WHY CANT YOU SHUT UP FOR ONCE, JUST STOP! YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND," Reggie growled pulling my hand to the side and keeping a tight grip on it.
"How don't I understand? Tell me, I dare you," I sneered lowering my tone.
"You want to understand," Reggie spat.
"Yeah, I do. Tell me," I taunted shoving him.
"Sylvie don't, don't—," Reggie started saying turning his back to me.
I cut him off and screamed, "DON'T WHAT—!"
Reggie suddenly turned around shoving me against the wall and pinning my hands over my head, "One more word, one more word and I'll lose it. Don't make me Sylvie."
"Fuck you," I spat not listening.
Reggie growled and then his mouth was on mine. He wasted no time devouring them as if it was his first and last meal. His lips parted mine as he slipped his tongue inside as I gripped onto his shoulders leaving dark indents from my nails. I tried to reach closer but this was as much contact as Reggie was giving me. I groaned in frustration pulling against his restraints as he pushed me back biting and sucking on my lip.
He pulled away not letting go, "Get out of my face."
I gasped at him trying to catch my breath as well, "You can't just kiss me like that and tell me to leave."
"I will if I want," Reggie said.
"Let me go," I said pulling against his grip, it was tight but gentle.
"No," he growled.
"Then how the hell do you expect me to get out of your face," I snapped.
"Figure it out," he said looking straight into my eyes.
I raised my knee aiming for his pants, "I will do it."
In a second one hand held mine above my head as another pushed my knee down and his chest was pressed again mine, "Don't threaten me."
I smiled, "It was a promise."
His chest heaved as he let his head fall to the crook of my neck leaving a small peck before whispering, "Go."
"Fine," I said as he let my arms go, his head still on my neck.
"Hurry up," he said lifting his head up in somewhat pain.
I hurriedly packed an overnight bag and walked to the door but not before saying, "Treat your friends better, they care about you and so do I. I know it's hard but when you're ready to talk, I can push my anger aside and listen."
He only gave me a nod as I walked out shutting the door behind me.
Next stop, my old dorm. Meda and Alec will know what to do.
