"Aaliyah?" Jeremiah's voice came through on the phone. Janae sighs, her hair was a mess, her eyes were teary, she looked like she hadn't gotten one ounce of sleep and truly, she hadn't. She was up all night worrying about Aaliyah. "No, no it's Janae, actually." Jeremiah smiles, "Oh okay. What can I do for you, Janae? Is everything alright?" He asked, putting the phone on speaker so he could focus on going through some documents.
"Uh, no actually it's not." Janae breathed out, almost like she was holding a cry.
Jeremiah furrowed his brows, immediately grabbing the phone and putting it back to his ear. "What happened? Is Aaliyah alright?"
"She's in the SHU, sir." A tear fell, she hated this. The SHU was horrible, and she knew first hand, having been sent there before. "Solitary? They put Aaliyah in solitary? What did she do?" Jeremiah questioned. He knew Aaliyah wasn't one to start fights. She just finished them so whoever started it, better have gotten sent there too.
"She got into a fight last night but she didn't even start it. That bitch shoved me and Aaliyah got taken away for it for defending me. They let that other bitch go free." Janae explained, getting more angry just talking about it. She blamed herself for it. Even if Aaliyah chose to defend her, she still felt like she was responsible. Jeremiah ran a hand over his mouth, standing up and grabbing his keys. "I'm on my way. I'll take care of this. Stop blamin' yourself. Get some sleep, sweetheart. You sound like you need it, okay?"
"Okay. Just please, get her out of there." Janae wiped her face, more tears pulling at the corner of her eyes.
"I will. I'll get her out."
The sound of a car engine was heard loudly, some of the CO's looking out of the window to see who that was. A man stepped out of a black Lamborghini, in an all black suit, sunglasses on, with a very pissed off expression. "Oh shit. That's the dad, huh?" CO Coates asked, looking at CO Bayley who looked like he was gonna shit his pants. "No shit! Fuck man, he's gonna kill me. He looks like black superman." (if y'all get this reference ily ๐ญ)
Jeremiah opened the doors walking inside, he went to the front window where CO Coates sat. CO Bayley behind him, not able to look Jeremiah in the eyes. "What can I do for you, sir? Visitation is closed today." CO Coates said nervously.
"Oh no, I'm not here to visit. I wanna speak with Mr. Caputo. It's about my daughter, Aaliyah Channing." Jeremiah states, pulling off his sunglasses and putting them in his pocket. "Uhm, Mr. Caputo isn't in yet but I can give him a call." CO Coates said. "Then you do that lad. Hurry it up. I don't have all day. My daughter's suffering in an inhumane box right about now because you CO's can't do your bloody jobs right." Jeremiah said.
CO Coates used the office phone, calling up Mr. Caputo. "What is it?" Mr. Caputo answered with a bit of attitude. CO Coates stepped away to speak with Caputo without Jeremiah hearing. "Uh sir, boss, we have a bit of an issue here. The father of Aaliyah Channing is here and he's very pissed off. Do we send him to your office or tell him to leave?"
"Fuck. No, don't let him leave. Send him to my office. I'm almost there." Mr. Caputo hung up quickly, pressing the start pedal to go faster.
CO Coates put phone back onto the thing and walked over. "CO Bayley will escort you to his office and he'll be there momentarily." Bayley's eyes widened, "What? Why me?" Coates glared at him, "Just go. Don't be a pussy."
"Right. Uh, sir can you step through the machine please. It's a requirement." CO Bayley said with a shaky voice. Jeremiah glared at him, "Actually, you know what? Just come in." Jeremiah nods, following the shorter guy to Mr. Caputo's office.
Taystee looks up, hearing loud footsteps near the door. CO Bayley walked in, holding the door open for Jeremiah. Taystee's eyes widened, "Oh shit. You look even finer in person." Jeremiah looked at her oddly before stepping inside Mr. Caputo's office, taking a seat in the chair. "What are you doing here? It's early, work hasn't started yet." CO Bayley questioned Taystee.
"I'm just organizing some files for Mr. Caputo before he gets here," Taystee explained. CO Bayley sighed, walking out. Taystee immediately stood up and walked into Mr. Caputo's office. Pretending to do files, but really she was just watching Jeremiah. He pulled his phone up to his ear, "Hello?" Damn was his voice deep.
"Any progress with Aaliyah?" Alec questions. When he heard the news he had to stop himself from marching down there too. Jeremiah stopped him as Teyana could've given birth at any second.
"I'm sittin' in the gaffers office right now. He's not even here yet, so no. How are things going with Teyana?" Jeremiah glanced at his watch before looking at Taystee who diverted her eyes quickly. "We're actually at the hospital right now. She's not in labor but they said it's best to stay overnight just in case. We're all worried about Aaliyah right now." Alec explained, holding Teyana's hand in his free one.
"Me too, son. Once I finish dealing with this, I'll get to the hospital as fast as I can. Tell T to hang in there. And don't worry so much. I'll get Aaliyah out." Taystee perked up hearing Aaliyah's name. "You gon' get Aaliyah out the SHU?" Taystee blurted out. Jeremiah furrowed his brows, finishing up the conversation with his son, he put his phone back in his pocket.
"Yes. Are you a friend of hers?" Jeremiah asked.
"Yeah, I am. I'm Tasha, but everyone calls me Taystee." Taystee stood up, leaning against Mr. Caputo's desk. "Nice to meet, Tasha. I'm Jeremiah. Can you tell me exactly what happened when she got taken away?"
Taystee nodded immediately, wanting to help Aaliyah in any way she could. "So what happened was, we was watchin' a movie, The Wiz, cause it was movie night. And these white nazi bitches started talkin' shit and sayin' all this racist shit so the movie got canceled and everyone was mad, including me. Janae said some shit and Liyah added onto it, next thing we know, the nazi shoves Janae to the floor. Aaliyah tackles that bitch down and roughs her up, you know? So the CO gotta pull them apart and instead of taking the bitch who started it. They drag away Aaliyah instead. It was bullshit man."
Jeremiah took in the information, nodding slowly. "And is this the first time this has happened? Aaliyah's first fight?"
Taystee shook her head. "Nope. A week ago she got jumped by those nazi bitches and ended up getting like two bruised ribs but man, she fucked that other girl up. And, Aaliyah and the Spanish girls got shots instead of the nazi bitches who started it again! It's racial profilin' and it's some bullshit!"
Jeremiah sighs, "I knew she was lying to me when she said she wasn't getting into trouble." Taystee nods with pursed lips. "It ain't her fault though. She's been really good until that Taylor bitch showed up."
He knit his brows, going to question her until Mr. Caputo walked into the office. He sighed seeing Jeremiah by himself, not accompanied by a CO. Taystee quickly exit the office, going into hers. "Mr. Channing. What can I do for you today?" Caputo sat at his desk, intertwining his hands together.
"Your pre-pubescent CO's put my daughter in solitary confinement for defending herself." Jeremiah spat angrily. Mr. Caputo furrowed his brows, "I'm sorry, what?" Jeremiah raised a brow. "You don't know what's happenin' in your own bloody prison? What kind of Warden are you?" Mr. Caputo gulped, "Uh, no I was aware. Just give me a second." Mr. Caputo pulled up Aaliyah's file, seeing as CO Bayley filed out the report to put Aaliyah in the SHU.
"Well it says here, Aaliyah got into her second fight this month with another inmate. Maybe it was justified. She should be treated like any other prisoner here, sir." Caputo says, looking back at Jeremiah who glared daggers into his head. "Maybe it's because you are allowing racial profiling to happen. Now I don't know 'bout you, but I teach my children to defend themselves. And from what Ms. Tasha has told me, it appears, my daughter did exactly that. Defend herself. Yet she's the only one who seems to get punished for it."
Caputo had to hold himself back from glaring at Taystee. "I don't know what you heard, sir, but we treat all our inmates equally. And I would love to make this situation better but this file says she must remain in the SHU for at least two weeks."
Jeremiah clenched his jaw, scratching his beard, he tried his best to control his anger. "Alright, Mr. Caputo. I tried to play nice. Now you've really upset me." He stood up. "You either take my daughter out of the SHU right now, and get her sent back to camp today, not any later. Or, I'll drive over to MCC right now, and get your ass fired. Who knows, maybe I'll even take your job and run this damn prison myself."
"That's not necessary sir. I will have Aaliyah taken out right away." Mr. Caputo rushed out.
"Then do it. Now. Call whoever is over there and bring my daughter back." Jeremiah demanded, tapping the desk. Mr. Caputo nods, grabbing the phone, he called the SHU. A CO picking up immediately. "Hi. Uh, I need an inmate, Aaliyah Channing, transfered back to camp right away. Yeah. No, by that I mean today. I need her back today, not any later, got it?" Mr. Caputo hung up, turning to Jeremiah.
"Is that all I can do for you today?"
Jeremiah took a breath, adjusting his suit jacket. "That's all. Thank you. Have a good day. I'll escort myself out." Jeremiah walked out of the office, turning to Taystee, he stuck out his hand towards her. "It was nice meeting you, Tasha. Thank you for the information you provided me." Taystee smiled, shaking his hand, but he instead pressed a kiss to her knuckles. "Have a lovely day."
She practically melted in her chair. "I think I'm in love."

Taystee sat at the table, her eyes going to Janae who was clearly still stressed about the Aaliyah situation. "Yo, I got some good news about, Aaliyah." Janae immediately perked up, looking at her with raised brows. "Her dad showed up this mornin', right? And y'all, he's so much finer in person, and lord, that voice? Like damn. He even kissed my hand." Taystee grinned. Cindy raised a brow, "Uh-uh, I already got my eyes on him."
"Get to the point. What about, Liyah?" Janae rolled her eyes, messing with the bandana around her wrist that Liyah gave her.
"Look, her dad came in, he's all pissed off right? And we start talkin', he asked for the full story and shit so I told him. Then Mr. Caputo walks in and he's already lookin' like he 'bout shit his pants. Caputo tried to play tough guy but that ain't sit over well with Mr. Channing. So he threatened to get Caputo fired and take his job, which I think he meant. Caputo called up the SHU people, so Aaliyah should be back today." Taystee finished.
Janae sighed in relief, running a hand over her hair. "Wait, that was this morning. Shouldn't she be here already?" Janae questioned.
"Oh, Mr. C had to call down some more guards for transportation. By time she gets here, it's gon' be late." Taystee explained. Well, it was still something. As long as Aaliyah was coming back, she could live with waiting a few more hours. "That's good though, right? As long as our girl comes back, it's cool." Poussey added. Brook nodding in agreement with her girlfriend.
"I agree. I quite miss her. She always gave me candy for breakfast," Suzanne says with a smile.
Janae took her attention towards Flores and Piper standing on the tables. Flores was up there because apparently she refused to shower, from what they heard. Piper was up there for trying to feed Flores some food. These guards had way too much power and it was fucking exhausting. "How long you think they'll keep this going?" Janae asked.
"I don't know, but if they trying to break 'em, I say they buy some big crosses, or like, a giant wheel or some shit, 'cause we running outta table space." Taystee said, looking at the two on the table. Piper was squatting, rather than standing like Flores was. "A giant wheel could be fun," Suzanne agreed.
Cindy decides to add something, not having any sympathy for them. Especially Chapman for being an accomplice in the reason Aaliyah got jumped by Taylor and her girls. "I don't feel bad for them bitches. Whatever they did, they probably deserve it. See, I just wish they'd put up a curtain, so we don't have to see 'em get what they deserve. Ya know, Aaliyah would love to see this. She fuckin' hate Chapman."
Janae chuckles softly, nodding in agreement with her last two sentences. Cindy spots Judy with her tray. "Oh! Yo! Judy King!" She pointed at her. "Hey," Judy greets as if she hadn't ditched them last night. "Over here. Come an sit wit' your girl." Judy walks over with a smile. "Missed you at the movie last night," Cindy says, holding her head up with her hands.
"I know. I fell asleep." Judy lies with a chuckle. Suzanne bought it though, nodding softly. "Oh, is that so?" Judy nods. "Cause, see, I thought I saw you starting to walk in...and then walk away. Oh, maybe you was just sleepwalking." Judy could tell Cindy wasn't at all being sincere. "I'll come talk with you after supper."
"Oh...I see how it is."
"No, Cindy, we're tight. Ah, you're my boo." Judy said. Suzanne sips her drink, no longer buying it.
"Sure. Until shit get complicated, and then you ghostin'. Hey, I need a woman I can depend on." Cindy stated.
"Oh...don't we all?" Judy practically sassed, walking away.
Cindy looked at Janae and pointed to herself in shock. "Did she just talk to me like-" she was cut off quickly with the prison alarm went off, everyone immediately getting down on the floor. Piscatella ordered everyone to return to dorms, officially in a lock down.

Solitary was not fun. Being pulled from the rest of humanity was not fun. Aaliyah laid in the uncomfortable bed, her eyes closed, singing a song in her head. The little window on the metal door opened, the CO knocking on it. She ignored him. "Get up. It's your lucky day. Looks like you're daddy scared the Warden." Aaliyah sighed, getting up, he opened the small box, she put her hands through, letting him put the cuffs around her wrists.
The CO and three other CO's all brought her to the van. They drove her back to camp. Just as they dropped her off at the camp, the lock down alarm went off. She groaned walking into the building. Unfortunately for her, Piscatella spotted her. "Channing, come with me." She sighed, nodding, she followed the man into the empty visitation room. "Take a seat. We'll be with you momentarily." Aaliyah rolls her eyes, sitting down at the table.
She rested her head in her arms, closing her eyes, she attempted to take a nap. Next thing she knew, the door opened and in walked Sankey. Aaliyah stood up quickly, "Oh hell no." Sankey looked at the CO, "You're gonna leave me here with her? She's fuckin' crazy." He shrugged, walking out.
Aaliyah smirked, sitting back down. "Relax. I'm too tired to fight you. The SHU is an exhausting place." She hummed, laying her head back on the table. Sankey sat the farthest away from her, obviously not trusting her. CO Humphrey aka Humps walked in with more inmates and stayed in the room, watching them.
CO Stratman brought some more girls in, staying in there to guard with Humps. Ouija furrowed her brows, nudging Maria, she pointed at the girl sleeping at the table. "That looks like, Liyah." Maria shrugged, they walked up to her, tapping her on the shoulder. Aaliyah woke up with a groan, looking up to see Maria, Ouija and Flores looking down at her. "Oh shit. They let you out?" Aaliyah nodded, smiling, she stood up, pulling Ouija into a hug. "I can't believe I'm saying this but I kinda missed you."
Ouija chuckled, pulling away, they all sat around the table. "I missed you too mamas. Your accents kinda calming, you know?" Aaliyah grinned. She and Maria did a small handshake in greeting. CO McCullough brought in Suzanne. Aaliyah stood up and walked over, Suzanne spotted her and smiled, immediately hugging the taller girl. "You're back. Oh I missed you." Suzanne grinned.
"Missed you too, sweets." Their reunion was interrupted when Piscatella called her name. She groaned, following him into a room. She took a seat, Piscatella standing across from her. "Do you know why I brought you down here?"
Aaliyah looked at him boredly. "Not really, no."
"Are you completely sure?"
Aaliyah raised a brow. "Nope."
"Well, it has to do with a body we dug up in the garden. Do you know anything about that?" Piscatella asked, taking a seat in the chair across her. Aaliyah blinked, genuinely caught off guard but she didn't show it. It wasn't her first interrogation. "Sir, there's two reasons you brought me in here. Either, you want me to confess to something, or you want me to rat someone out." Aaliyah chuckles, leaning back in her chair.
"That depends. Do you know know something?"
Aaliyah leaned forward, intertwining her hands. "I'm no snitch. And technically, CO Piscatella, unlawful interrogations are often a violation of a person's Fifth Amendment rights under the United States Constitution. Especially with a crime as serious as this. Now, no offense, but I don't see a badge, because you're not a real officer. So, I'm not telling you shit." Aaliyah smiles, emphasizing the way she said 'shit'. (like janae in s1 ๐คญ)
Piscatella was unbothered by this. "You seem to know a lot about the system."
Aaliyah shrugs. "Brother's a lawyer. What can I say, I pay attention to details."
"In your file it says you were arrested for biting off your girlfriend's finger, stabbing her, attempted murder and committing arson, is that correct?" Piscatella questioned. Aaliyah didn't mind answering that considering it was true. It was the reason she was in there. "Yes. But, I spit the finger out cause I'm no Jeffery Dahmer, just in case you were confused. And she survived, it's not like killed her. I just tried to."
"Do you regret it?"
"Nope."
"Would you do it again?"
Aaliyah pretended to think. "Uh, probably, just minus the biting cause blood and removed body parts really gross me out."
Piscatella stood back up. "Let's go. We're done here." Aaliyah smiles sarcastically, standing up and walking out, sitting back down next to Maria. He called Ouija's name next, bringing her in the room. Aaliyah sighed, running a hand through her hair. All she wanted was to see Janae. To make sure she was okay.
"I wanna talk to Piscatella. This must be some kind of mistake. I ain't done shit." Sankey said, running her mouth yet again. Honestly, Aaliyah just really wanted to rip out her vocal cords, or tongue so she couldn't talk again. "Well, if you're here, that means he wants to talk to you, so wait 'til you're called." CO Stratman states, Sankey scoffs, "This is bullshit. After all I've done for this place?"
"What's the matter? You scared now, huh? Cause you ain't got your whole crew here?" Maria spoke up. Aaliyah chuckles, "Should've seen her earlier when she got put in here with me. About to shit her pants." Maria smirks. Sankey turns to them, "I ain't scared of shit. Bring it, you bitches. I'll take you all on!" CO Humphrey grabs her arm, pulling it behind her back. "Oh yeah? You wanna take them on? What abut with one hand tied behind your back, huh?" She grunts in pain.
He let's her go just as Piscatella brought Ouija back, her sitting next to Aaliyah. "Did you see that? He was trying to break my arm!" Piscatella ignores her, instead calling Red's name. She stood up slowly, Sankey still pissed she was being ignored. "Captain, did you see that?" He gestures Red to go through the door, he follows her, still ignoring Sankey.
"All right, listen up. If you're here, that means you're here for a reason. Now, if you're innocent, that means...you shouldn't have anything to worry about. But if you cause a problem, then it doesn't matter if you're innocent or not, so sit down and shut your mouth." CO Stratman announces, more so towards Sankey. She huffed, taking a chair and sitting down.
Another hour went by, Aaliyah was tired but she stayed up, the light being a huge bother. Sankey was laid out on two chairs when suddenly, CO Humps pulled one, making her fall to the floor. The inmates all laughed. "What the fuck?" Suzanne laughed loudly, clapping like it was a play. "Hey, what are you laughin' at?"
"Uh, me?" Suzanne points to herself. "We were all laughing." Sankey gets back up, "You better sleep with one eye open." This threat seemed to confuse Suzanne. "I can't. I've tried, and I only get a restful night's sleep when both eyes are closed." The inmates laugh some more, even getting Flores to laugh after being so dull the majority of the time.
"Hey, you wanna hit her?" Sankey looked at Humps in confusion. "You can hit her. We won't do anything." Sankey stutters, "Nah. I ain't hittin' no (r-slur)." Humps stepped towards her, "But she laughed at you. You're gonna let some black (r-slur) laugh at you like that, in front of all these people?" He taunted. Sankey was all bark no bite, so clearly she wasn't gonna fight Suzanne. "Back off, man. I'm not interested."
"I don't care whether you're interested. I'm tellin' you. I wanna see a fight." Aaliyah now stood up, in defense of Suzanne. "Uh uh, what the fuck is wrong with you? She doesn't wanna fight so back the fuck off." Humps turned to glare at her. "Fine. Since you wanna speak your mind so much, darling. You fight her instead." Humps said.
Sankey's eyes widened, definitely not wanting to tussle with Aaliyah after the damage she did to Brandy and Taylor. Aaliyah scoffs. "As pleasing as that sounds, I'm gonna have to decline. This is what happens when you give pre-pubescent boys power. This isn't a fucking fight club." Humps walked over, grabbing her arm, "Shut your mouth. Or I'll make you."
Suzanne stood up, wishing she could help Aaliyah. "I don't wanna fight."
"See? She doesn't wanna fight. So back off." Aaliyah spat.
"I do." Maureen spoke up. Everyone looked at her. Humps let go off Aaliyah, pushing her against the table. Maria and Ouija stood up, making sure she was okay. "I'll fight her." Maureen stated. God what the fuck was wrong with this place. It was the most disturbing prison ever.
"Now, that's what I'm talkin' about. Start placin' your bets, boys. We got a fight! All right!" Humps and Stratman clapped.
"What the fuck is wrong with this place?" Aaliyah breathed out. She stood up, walking over to Suzanne. "Hey, hey, you don't have to fight, okay? You're not a violent person, okay?" Suzanne nods, breathing heavily. The CO's began to push the chairs and tables back so there was some sort of fight circle. "You don't have to okay? Don't give in." Humps pulled Aaliyah away, pushing her into CO Stratman's arms. "What the fuck? Let me go!"
He held her arms behind her, as Humps pushed Suzanne into the circle. "I don't wanna fight you!" Suzanne said. "Why not? What, are you too good to fight me? You know, that hurts." Maureen pushes Suzanne as everyone urges them to fight. "Let go of me!" Aaliyah tried to fight against his hold, wanting to help Suzanne. "We couldn't had a life together, and we could've lived in the forest."
"I barely know you." Suzanne tried to back up, only to be pushed back in. "Because you never gave me the chance!" Maureen shoved her again. "Please don't push!" Maureen urges Suzanne to fight her again. "I don't wanna do this!" Suzanne pleads, getting shoved again. "Well, you might as well. You don't know how romance works. You don't even know how people work. And you never will. You'll always be the person that everybody laughs at. The same pathetic loser virgin!"
"Shut up!"
Aaliyah broke from Stratman's hold, pushing him away from her. She ran towards Maureen, grabbing her, "Get the fuck away from her! Are you fucking mental?!" Maureen shoved Aaliyah to the floor harshly. This was enough to completely set Suzanne off. "Stop it! Do not touch her!" She punched Maureen. Tackling her to the floor, she hit her again and again, yelling at her to stop.
"Shut up! Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!" She continued to repeat as she hit her. It was honestly getting too disturbing to watch.
Aaliyah ran and tackled Suzanne off of Maureen, Maria, and Ouija helping her control Suzanne. "Shh. It's okay. It's okay.
Calm down. It's okay sweets." Aaliyah soothed, rocking Suzanne back and forth as Maria and Ouija held her arms back incase she tried to fight back again. Suzanne cried in their arms, Aaliyah gave them a look to let her go and they did. Suzanne cried into Aaliyah's arm as the girl rocked her back and forth, Ouija and Maria also attempting to comfort her.
"You're safe now. You're okay, sweets."
