September 1st 1971

๐…๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐  her long lashes open, revealing her ethereal green beryl irises. The rising sunlight peering through the small gap of her curtains, awakening her fully from her deep slumber, awaiting the new day. Deeply inhaling the scent of her cotton sheets, listening to the rhythmic chirps of the birds perching on the large branches of the trees outside her window. The tranquility of the morning beauty, bringing a certain calmness to her mind.

Shifting slightly on her queen sized bed, tilting her head towards her bedside table, more importantly the wax sealed envelope sitting on it. Smiling as bright as the sunbeam of the morning, as she remembered in a few hours she would be boarding those red and black trains she'd dreamt about.

She was going to Hogwarts.

Sighing heavily, she closed her eyes for a few seconds, savouring the warmth before jumping out of bed. The bright daylight illuminating the room after opening the curtains. She was glowing.

Flicking through her stacked music records beside her bookshelf, whilst humming a sweet tune to herself. She once saw them in a muggle shop along with a record player and after many struggles of asking the owner how it had worked, she'd asked for it for her eleventh birthday.

Eventually settling on the song 'Honey, Honey'.

A.N (I know the song wasn't out yet, but a lot of the music probably won't add up in this book)

The sudden burst of volume, livening up the room and she undoubtedly heard the birds melodically chirping to the words.

"Gen!" James slamming the door open to her room, running inside to embrace her in a hug. A lively grin, matching her own.

Turning to face him, "James!" shouting back with the same amount of enthusiasm. Quickly returning the hug.

Catching her off guard, James began dancing with her along to the song. Twirling her around, belting out the words, giggling in between verses. Far too energetic for 7am, but this was James and Genevieve.

"Honey, honey, nearly kills me, aha, honey honey!"

Switching back and forth between the lines. Their joyous faces, continuously laughing unable to hold it back. Not paying attention and stepping on each other's toes.

"And now I know what they mean, he's a love machine, oh he makes me dizzy!"

In hysterics and breathing heavily after finishing the song, they were surprised to hear clapping. Confusedly exchanging brief looks before turning their heads. Stood their was the Potters house elf.

Mugsy.

She was smiling and clapping at their small performance. They chuckled in amusement at the sight of her in an apron and a chefs hat, flour covering her cheeks and her brand new cute dress.

"Mugsy thinks Mr and Miss Potter are so very talented!"

Both doing a quick bow. "Thank you very much Mugsy, and you know you can call us by our names. We're family remember." Genevieve reassured.

James nodding, "She's right surprisingly," side glancing his sister as she glared at him for his snide comment. "Mr potter makes me feel old and I am definitely not old!"

"Oh, are you sure I think I'm seeing a few grey hairs and," Genevieve gasped dramatically. "I think that's a moustache!" faking shock.

Giving her a bewildered and slightly scared look, James rushed out the room. Laughing to herself. Gullible idiot, she thought. "Mind if I help out in the kitchen today Mugsy? After I get dressed of course." kindly asking.

"Mugsy would love for Mis- Genevieve to help with breakfast." beaming up at the eleven year old girl, before leaving so she could get ready.

Locking the door and sliding off her pretty pink and white pyjamas. Stepping inside her walk in wardrobe and glancing around, tops and different clothing scattered all around. Eventually deciding on a short black top and a thin pink cardigan, pairing it with a white skirt underneath thick tights.

Brushing through her long hair, putting it in a half up half down. Doing any other necessities before making her way downstairs, Minnie trailing along after her.

The faint aroma of pastries filled the house making her hum in delight. Walking into the kitchen, Genevieve spotted James sitting on the stool connected to the counter.

"Did you manage to cut out the grey hairs Jamesie?" smiling teasingly.

"Very funny Genny, I'm oh so amused." replying in a monotone voice, rolling his eyes. Mugsy and Genevieve giggling at his displeasure of the conversation.

Feeding Minnie her breakfast and brushing through her fur. "Here you are Minnie, eat up." meowing cheerfully, she trotted over.

Taking off her cardigan, washing her hands and putting on an apron, praying she didn't get her clothes dirty. Helping Mugsy with little things like cutting up fruits, measuring the ingredients, mixing the batter, licking the spoo-

"James!!" Geneveieve huffed. "If you're going to eat all the ingredients before we even make it, don't you think you should help a little?!" exasperated by the laziness of her brother.

"What? What was that mum! Oh, sorry Gen I'd absolutely love to help but I'm pretty sure mum just called me so- bye!" taking one last strawberry before racing out the kitchen, not letting her protest.

"Uh- what? James!"

Euphemia Potter was in fact not calling her son, because at that very moment she'd just entered the kitchen, dragging a very defeated James Potter behind her.

Rushing through the streets of London, eager to get to King's Cross Station before eleven o'clock. They were behind schedule, because Fleamont couldn't find his tie. Searching all around the house for it, until James had found Minnie with the tie attached to her tail, running around as if she was looking for it too.

Trying to stay close and hoping not to get swallowed by the bustling streets. Steam fogging up the station, like the clouds idly drifting to envelop the sky.

"Alright quick now, just through that wall." Fleamont rushed out, pointing towards the brick wall.

As if James could sense her nerves, he connected their hands together. "Together?" he asked, smiling sweetly.

"Together." Genevieve replied, returning the smile. Giving her hand a quick squeeze before doing a countdown and running through, pushing their trunks along with them. Keeping her eyes tightly closed.

No longer hearing their parents, Genevieve opened her eyes. Turning around, along with James, their mouths dropping in shock and awe.

Arriving at Platform 9 3/4, the place was buzzing with exhilaration. The scarlet train stood gleaming at the platforms centre. The loud whistle and excited chatters filling the chilly September air. Children hastily hugging their parents before running off to find their friends, whilst they looked at them tearfully.

Pulling down the sleeves of her cardigan slightly, Euphemia and Fleamont had just passed through the wall.

"Have you got everything? Enough clothes? Robes? Your quills? Enough money for the trolley? Oh! Genevieve did you pack that muggle music and the clothes you liked? I've packed extra if It's not eno-" stressfully thinking of every scenario of what could go wrong.

"Mum!" getting her to stop, "It's okay we've got everything and if we forget anything we can just owl you." smiling up at her.

"Which we will everyday we swear." James embarrassedly added, trying to stop his mother from making a scene.

Turning around to take a quick polaroid of her ticket, wanting to treasure this moment.

Putting down her camera, she spotted someone in the crowd. Locking eyes with the same grey eyes.

Regulus Black.

Smiling and waving discreetly, although looking away when his older brother and Walburga Black turned their heads in her direction. Looking to see who or what he was smiling at.

Pulling her mother into a long hug, droplets of water gathering in her eyes, though she managed to hold them back. Oh how she'd miss them. "I'll miss you," not wanting to let go of her mothers warm hold. It didn't matter where she was, her family was always home.

"Be careful please Genevieve," Euphemia said, a few tears falling. "I want you both to look after each other, always. Break some rules, get into trouble, a few detentions, but don't do anything too extreme okay?"

Genevieve nodding, as she bent down to her level, wiping away her mothers tears, whilst she continued talking. "Know that I'll be proud of any house you get into and it doesn't matter if you're not placed in the same one as your brother." kissing her daughters forehead.

Eventually breaking apart so she could hug her father. This time a tear slipped, but she immediately wiped it away before anyone saw.

"Don't get into too much trouble, okay?" trying to hold his tears by laughing. "And I know you're the smarter one so keep your brother in check please."

Giggling, she looked up at her father the tears making her vision blurry. Pursing her lips, she nodded. "I will and make sure you water the plants in my room!" laughing he nodded. Giving them both a quick kiss on the cheek before boarding the train.

Waving to them through the windows, as the train started moving along. Genevieve blowing a quick kiss and mouthing an "I love you". Their figures becoming less visible, until they were completely gone.

They had a very long seven years ahead of them.
