August 1st 1971
๐๐๐ซ๐ ๐ข๐ง๐ into her room, Genevieve jerked awake to the sound of her annoyingly hyper twin first thing in the morning. "Gen! Genny! Genevieve Daisy Potter wake up!!" shouting right in her ears, pulling off her comforter removing the sweet warmth.
Shaking her shoulders violently, as he tried to get her up as quick as possible. Genevieve made a noise of disagreement in the back of her throat, coming out more like the whine of a cat being strangled. Minnie hissing as if she'd said something offensive.
Removing one of the various pillows on her bed, she covered her face hoping to fade out the voice of her brother she'd grown accustomed to. Nowadays, coming out as more of a white noise.
Although it didn't seem to do much, because a few seconds later James had pulled the pillow out of her grasp and began hitting her with it continuously. "Wake, up, you, idiot, it's almost, noon!" saying in between hits.
Moving away suddenly to open the blinds. The bright sun blooming through her windows contrasting to the once dark room. Happiness and excitement flooding every inch of his body, like a child chasing a butterfly.
Genevieve could've said this was the most irritating he'd ever been, but that would be a lie for both of them. In most cases she was the energetic one. Unfortunately, mornings weren't added to that list.
Now getting frustrated by his antics, Genevieve sat up in her bed realising he wasn't going to give up any time soon. Rubbing her eyes to fight off the sleep her body so desperately craved every time she blinked. "James what could be so incredibly important that you had to wak-" stopping mid sentence by her own loud gasp.
It's today. It's today. It's today. Those two words repeating in her head non-stop. Rushing over to her calendar a loud scream of delight followed. "It's today! Oh James why didn't you wake me up earlier!"
"Well actually Gen I did try..." trailing off slightly. Not that she was listening anyway, preparing every detail for today.
Taking him by surprise, she ran straight into her brothers arms, as he spun them around. Pure joy evident in both of their eyes. Still in their pyjamas, Genevieve and James hurried through the Potter Mansion and down the stairs, hand in hand.
"Mum!" both Potter twins exclaimed in unison once they'd reached the kitchen. "Are they here yet?" practically bouncing on their toes, grinning widely. Euphemia amusedly raises her brows, deciding to tease them a little. "Are what here?"
Rolling his hazel eyes James replied "Our Hogwarts letters of course," impatience dripping from every word. "Shouldn't they be here by now?"
A soft laughter erupted in their mothers throat. "Oh loves, It's only half past nine, you can't expect the owls to get around this quickly. Take a seat at the table while I set up breakfast, you two woke up rather late for such an important day." lecturing the two.
Visibly deflated, frowns growing, the two made their way to the dining room. Sitting down, just as their father had put down the Daily Prophet.
"Why the frowny faces? You've both shown signs of magic, if that's what you're worried about." before either of them could talk their heads off about their letters not arriving yet, Euphemia had come in with the breakfast. "They're both being impatient is all," she replied.
Eyes darting back and forth between her breakfast and the window. Her knees bounced up and down in anticipation, peering her head to get a better view outside.
In the middle of cutting her blueberry pancakes, James abruptly jumped up from his seat. "Look Gen!" pointing at the the distant barn owl flying towards the open window, dropping both letters onto the table.
Genevieve took some treats and fed the owl, before they quickly snatched their letters, not waiting for a second to rip open the brown tinted envelopes. "Oh dad, there's so much to buy! So.... when are we going shopping?"
Smiling proudly at their children, Euphemia and Fleamont agreed to go after breakfast. Finishing their food, the table filled with laughter and happiness as always. She felt content.

Walking down the streets of Diagon Alley, the Potter family stuck together. Golden sunlight peering down at them, the crisp breeze cooling the hot air. Streaks of milky clouds fading across an azure sky. Taking in the morning beauty, allowing the light summer to soak in her skin.
Leaving her chocolate brown hair to cascade down her back, the light wind blowing it back gently. Genevieve decided to wear a white summers dress, painted with barely noticeable daises. Ending just above her knees with the short puffed sleeves drooping off her shoulders.

Firstly, making their way towards Gringotts Bank to exchange some money. Then going to Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions.
Eventually splitting up, Genevieve went with her mother to Ollivander's, whilst James and her father went to Amanuensis Quills.
She was most nervous of this. What would happen if she didn't get a wand? Was that possible? Questions racing through her mind constantly. The bell on top of the door rung, alerting someone had entered.
"Ah yes... Welcome," encouraging them to step inside the shop. "It's been a while since I've seen your mother and father." talking, and measuring her arms and body with his wand. Nodding slightly before disappearing between the isles, re-emerging a few moments later with a few boxes.
Trying about five different wands, before using the last box. "Tricky, tricky. Not to worry I've got the perfect one for you. Elmwood, Basilisk Scales, 10 and 1/2 inches."
Giving it a quick wave, she neatly tidied all the empty boxes. Smiling in satisfaction, Genevieve looked at her mother who was looking at her proudly. Paying for the wand and thanking Ollivander before exiting the shop.
Meeting up with James and Fleamont a while later, agreeing to wait while James bought his wand. After, visiting Flourish and Blotts to buy all the required textbooks and a few other books for Genevieve. Passerby's amusedly watching the eleven year old girl struggle to carry multiple stacks of books in her arms. James finding it incredibly boring in a bookstore, quickly snapped a polaroid of Genevieve browsing through books unknowingly. She wouldn't stop talking about it and the new friend she made a month ago.
Bag after bag, Euphemia and Fleamont decided James should have an owl for Hogwarts as Genevieve already had her pet cat, Minnie.
Leaving the two twins alone, Genevieve had insisted they'd go to the Apothecary, but James had insisted they'd go to a prank shop he'd saw. They both had a love for jokes and pranks, although sometimes James could be a bit much. Not being able to agree on the matter, they decided to split ways and meet up again later, against their parents orders.
But who ever listens to the rules?
Genevieve loved potions. She took after her father in that way. Anything related to the subject was enough to make her interested in any dull conversation. Making her way over to the shop, she could've sworn she briefly saw a tint of red hair. her red hair. Shaking her head, thinking nothing of it- that's impossible, she continued walking down the street.
The scent of chemicals travelled through her nose immediately after she opened the door. Scrunching her nose in distaste, she wasn't sure she was ever going to get used to the putrid smell, despite her adoration for it. Picking up many ingredients. Moving onto the book section.
Trailing her dainty fingertips across the spines of numerous famous potion making authors. Paying no attention to her surroundings until her hand suddenly stopped when it came in contact with somebody's else's. Glancing over, she removed her hand from the bookshelf.ย
"Oh! Merlin I'm so sorry," apologising profusely to the boy in front of her. "I'm in your way aren't I?" quickly moving to stand on the other side of him.
Finally looking up, Genevieve took in all his captivating features, specifically one prominent captivating feature. his grey eyes. He lightly smiled at the girl stood in front of him. Admiring her features for a moment before speaking up. "It's alright, honestly I didn't see you either."
She stuck out her hand to formally introduce herself "I'm Genevieve." he shook her hand and hesitantly replied "Regulus, Regulus Black." he knew the history his family upheld. Pureblood supremacists. Part of the sacred twenty-eight. People were scared and so was he.
Her smile faltering for a moment. She had heard horrible things about the Blacks, but she had a gut feeling he wasn't like them. Putting her own somewhat prejudiced opinion aside. You don't know him. Don't judge him based on his family. She thought.
"Nice to meet you. Are you a first year too?" trying to make conversation. "No, no, still have another year to go. My older brother Sirius is though, he should be around here somewhere I think," looking around hoping to spot him. "nice dress." he commented.
Her cheeks went a light shade of pink at the compliment. "Thank you! I got it from a muggle shop in London. Isn't it just the prettiest thing?!" dimples showing as she spoke, positively beaming. "It honestly wasn't much. It's one of my favourite dresses too."
Regulus had sworn he'd never seen someone so happy to talk about muggle dresses with him. He couldn't help but smile fondly, as he found her rambling rather adorable. She wanted to talk with him, despite his heritage. That alone was enough for him to want to be her friend.
Talking for a few more minutes they found out they shared quite a few of the same interests. Looking at the time Genevieve realised she was supposed to meet James in five minutes. "It was really nice talking to you Regulus and I hope I see you again at Hogwarts, but I need to go." spoken somewhat sadly, she was enjoying the younger Blacks company.
Saying a quick goodbye to each other, Genevieve payed for her items and rushed out the shop. The contagious grin never leaving her face even after meeting up with her brother. "Why do you look so happy?" curiously raising his eyebrows.
Shrugging, she simply replied "I made a new friend." James looked puzzled, but chose not to ask further.
Unknown to them, they'd both made a new friend that day, and coincidentally they were also two Black brothers.
