ππ§πππ«π’π§π an empty compartment, James and Genevieve hoisted up their bags. Just as she was about to sit down and take out her book, James spoke up. "Do you mind getting something from the trolley, I'm hungry."
"Didn't you just eat? and why can't you do it yourself, you're not doing anything?!" frustratedly replying.
"Yeah... but my legs are aching and I'm already sitting down see!" her idiot brother sitting down just as he'd finished talking. Taking Gen's camera from her possession and snapping a quick polaroid of her annoyed face.
She now regretted teaching him how to use it.
Rolling her eyes, she shoved her book into his lap, ordering him to look after Minnie and started making her way towards the trolley. She could faintly hear the multiple thank you's that he was shouting behind her. Turning around for two seconds to stick her tongue out at him, only to bump into someone when she turned back around.
"Oh! I am so sorry." quickly bending down to pick up the food she dropped. "It's fine." somewhat bitterly responding.
Her voice was dull, like she was tired. Looking up she met eyes with dark green ones. The fire of her soul reflected in the depths of them. Her hair was pin straight and ebony black. Skin smooth and features well defined. An enchanting beauty.
Deciding to introduce herself, maybe she'll be in my house. "I'm Genevieve Potter," dimples showing, smiling kindly. "Nice to meet you."
Reluctantly, "Cassiopeia Black." furrowing her eyebrows for a moment before she spoke, like she wasn't used to kindness. There wasn't an ounce of warmth in her voice, as if she was still deciding whether or not she could be trusted, though she could've sworn she saw a trace of a smile on her pillowy lips.
"Well I hope to see you at Hogwarts Cass- oh I can call you Cass right? Or would Cassie be preferable for you, because I can just stick to Cassiopeia if that's what you want. Honestly if It's not okay then I don't mind at all I pr-" nervously rambling on.
Looking at her incredulously and cutting her off, she assured, "It's okay, you can call me Cass, Genevieve or would you prefer Gen? Genny perhaps." spoken in a teasing manner, a small but visible smile on her face. Breaking the tense atmosphere there was before.
Letting out a laugh, before pursing her lips, both mumbling a goodbye. Walking up to the trolley, she bought a few different sweets before making her way back, only to be startled with her brother running off in the other direction. Opening her mouth to say something, though closing it after a moment deciding it would be best to not question it.
Walking into the compartment she was surprised to see black hair and grey eyes.
The same grey eyes.
"Oh." they both spoke at the same time. Placing the sweets down, she sat down opposite him, just as he started talking.
"Hi, I'm Sirius Black." smiling, he extended his hand.
"Genevieve Potter," smiling back shaking her delicate hand with his.
Raising his eyebrows, he asked "So you're the famous Genevieve? Reg wouldn't stop talking about you, about how pretty and nice you were."
Giggling softly, "I remember, he talked about you too," recalling the encounter. "I guess the pretty grey eyes must run in the family then."
A barely noticeable pink appeared on his cheeks. A smirk grew on his face, leaning towards her. "You think my eyes are pretty?
Genevieve's eyes widened slightly, as if she had just registered what she had said, before a small smile spread across her breathtaking appearance.
Merlin, she's gorgeous. snapping out of his thoughts quickly when she started talking.
"It was a harmless compliment... unless you'd like me to take it back that is?" faking innocence.
This time, it was his eyes that widened. "No! I mean uh no, your eyes are pretty too." blurting out the first thing that came to his mind, making her smile.
Thankfully, an out of breath James entered inside the compartment at that moment, stopping them from embarrassing themselves further. Making her let out a breath she didn't know she was holding.
Turning in her seat to glare at him. "Where did you go?! I told you to look after Minnie!" picking up the white kitten, placing her on her lap and stroking her fur gently.
Harassing a slimy git and a pretty red head, he thought. Instead replying with "Nowhere, just thought I saw someone I knew." saying the first lie that came to his head. She raised an eyebrow at him but, before she could question him further a pale brown haired boy, knocked on the door, his face littered with faded scars.
"Hi, do you mind if I sit here?" timidly asking, peeking his head inside. "Not at all!" Genevieve replied, moving up to make space, the other two nodding in agreement.
Introducing herself to the boy next to her. new friends! she thought. "I'm Genevieve, but people usually call me Gen or Genny," looking at his green eyes, she didn't want to seem rude by asking about his scars. "And this is Minnie." pointing at her cat, who was hissing at him.
Seeming less uncomfortable, he replied, "Remus, Remus Lupin." offering a kind smile.
"I'm James Potter." beaming at him. "Sirius Black," both of them added. "Nice to meet you."
"What house do you want to be in?" James eagerly asked. He wouldn't want anything other than Gryffindor, it was all he'd been talking about the last month or so. Red and Gold plastered all over his bedroom. Genevieve was similar in a way. She wasn't too bothered about it and she definitely wasn't prejudiced but she knew she'd be most happy with Gryffindor, although she couldn't help but wonder what would happen if she was placed in Slytherin. She wondered how far together really went.
"Gryffindor, but I wouldn't mind Ravenclaw." Remus answered, breaking Genevieve out of her thoughts.
"My whole family's always been in Slytherin." moving his gaze to the floor, a frown upon his face. James made a look of resent and disgust, "Blimey, and I thought you seemed alright!"
Genevieve quickly intervened. "It doesn't matter what house you'll end up in Sirius, you'll still have me as a friend anyway." she reassured. This brought a smile back onto his lips.
"Yeah you're right, my cousin Andromeda was in Slytherin and she's one of the nicest people I know! besides maybe I'll break the tradition." eyes sparkling with a mischievous glint, a smirk surfacing. "Where are you two heading, if you've got the choice?" he asked
James and Genevieve grinned at each other, before lifting their invisible swords, "Gryffindor where dwell the brave at heart!" saying in sync, laughing before James added, "Like our dad."
Talking more to each other and eating the sweets, she smiled knowing her and remus both loved reading. He started recommending muggle books to her, telling her he could borrow his any time. Sirius, James and Genevieve all shared a love for quidditch. In the middle of arguing over which team was the best, (obviously the holyhead harpies) somebody came in announcing they'd soon be at Hogwarts
Making her way towards the girls area and getting changed quickly before making her way back. Surprised to see a laughing Sirius petting Minnie. Hearing the door slide, he looked up locking eyes with Genevieve's, shock written across her face.
"Sorry, she just wouldn't leave me alone." amusement laced in his voice. Taking a few seconds to reply, shaking her head, "No It- It's fine," furrowing her eyebrows. "She just normally doesn't like new people. I guess she likes you though, so that's a good sign." laughing, sitting down opposite him.
"I hop-" Sirius started, getting cut off when James and Remus opened the door pointing at the window.
"We're here!"
