And the butterflies go wild in my stomach

I remember the moments
Like they were yesterday

Right before I pushed you away

I was reading those texts
To know that nothing was in my head
To remind myself that despite everything you say
Some moments were real for you, too

I know they were
Because you don't say things like you used to
You don't say those things to me anymore

And even though it hurts
The tears roll over my cheeks and taste salty on my lips
My heart warms at the fact that there was once a possibility
Instead of none

The smile is there because even though now it's all in my head
It was once in yours as well
