ASPEN WATCHED AS HER CREW WREAKED HAVOC. Her body itched to join and induce some disturbance herself. Though she was not feeling exceptionally active at the moment due to how drained the black and white-clothed female felt. The group finally stopped, just as a baby in a stroller with a lollipop appeared. Aspen couldn't help, but giggle as she watched her purple-haired friend snatch the baby's candy away. Taking candy from a baby was always amusing.
Her black locks with white tips swayed behind her and her black boots rapped against the grimy gravel as she strutted up to the four companions that were wickedly laughing. Her deft fingers sneakily swiped an apple from a man trudging past. She'll have to thank Jay later for teaching her some tricks β it came in handy sometimes.
Aspen reached the four, taking a small bite of the round fruit β it was slightly musky and tasted a little sour, but it outmatched others. "I see you guys are having fun." She remarked as she tossed her arm across Carlos' shoulder blades. Her brother tilted his head up to send her one of his adorable grins, earning a slight smile from her.
Though, before any of the four could reply to the girl, everyone around them began to scatter. Yelps of fright escaped their lips as people trampled over others to reach the closest hiding spot. Only one woman could invoke an outburst similar to this one. Maleficent. The De Vil girl rolled her eyes at the scene, taking another bite of her apple.
Frankly, Maleficent was becoming more irritating as the children grew up. All the horned woman ever did was reminisce about how she became the evilest in the world. While at times could be inspiring because she was one of the most powerful villains in the world, other times, it was gratuitous.
The double-horned woman strutted up to the teenagers with two goblin bodyguards hovering behind her. "Really Mal, stealing candy? How disappointing." The woman rebuked, halting in front of the five.
The purple-haired female noticeably deflated, before composing her confidence stance again. "It was from a baby," Mal remarked, crossing her arms with a wicked smirk.
"Good job." Maleficent praised but didn't give her daughter a chance to relish in it β snatching the lollipop and giving it a prolonged lick. "Then give it back to the ugly sucker." She smirked, handing it to another baby that was conveniently strolling past with its mother.
"Mom!" Mal groaned.
Ignoring her daughter, Maleficent obtained a familiar expression. Aspen has seen this expression before β it meant she was about to go on one of her rants. Aspen decided to space out, not inclined to listen to the same oration she's heard before.
"βYou five have been chosen to go to school...in Auradon."
The sentence brought the female back to reality as a dumbfounded expression crossed her face. Her apple that was nearing her mouth, now hanging loosely in her grip. Why in the world would they of all teenagers be chosen to go to Auradon? They were the worst of the worst.
"What?! I am not going to a boarding school filled to the brim with prissy princesses!" Mal growled, crossing her arms.
"And perfect princes," Evie added with a dreamy look in her eyes. She immediately changed her expression as Mal gave her a quick glare. "Ughhh."
Jay then butted in. "Yeah, and I don't do uniforms. Unless it's leather. You feel me?" He raised his left hand out to the De Vil female. Aspen smacked his hand away, causing a mock hurt expression to cross his face, which she ignored.
"Alright! I read somewhere that they allow dogs in Auradon. Mom said they're a rabid pack of animals who eat children who don't behave," Carlos then shook his head as he continued to speak. "That right there, is a no-no."
Aspen rolled her eyes at Carlos' words. No matter how many times she's tried to explain that dogs don't eat children, he wouldn't listen. Her mother used to get Aspen with the dog thing too, but she's read somewhere that they're small harmless little creatures. Besides, he should know better than to listen to their mother β they all know she's a little bit on the crazy side.
"Well if Carlos ain't going, then I'm not going." The white-haired teen comment nonchalantly, deciding it was time for her input.
"Yeah, mom, we're not going," Mal stated, crossing her arms.
"Oh, you're thinking small pumpkin. It's all about world domination," The mother turned, walking towards her castle. "KNUCKLEHEADS!" The woman screeched, causing her two goblin guards to follow after her.
The horned woman glanced behind her to see if her daughter was following behind her, which she wasn't. "Ohhh Mal!" Maleficent beckoned her daughter in a sing-songy voice.
The purple-haired girl scoffed, rolling her eyes as she followed after her mother.
Aspen sighed, throwing her half-eaten apple behind her. "Come on." She wrapped her arm around her brother's shoulder again as the rest of them trudged after their green-eyed friend and her mother.
AFTER REACHING THE CASTLE, THE MOTHER AND DAUGHTER RESUMED THEIR DEBATE ON WHETHER OR NOT THE CHILDREN WILL GO TO AURADON. "You will go. You will go find Fairy Godmother and you will bring back the magic wand. Easy Peasy." Maleficent shrugged like her demand was such a straightforward request.
Aspen couldn't help, but roll her eyes. It was expected that Maleficent had something to benefit out of them going to Auradon. This made the De Vil girl not even wanna go anymore. She's not some goblin that does Maleficent's evil bidding.
Mal and her mother then began to have a staring contest, both females flashing their green eyes at one another. Mal was beginning to overpower Maleficent, until her mother got the upper hand and won. "I win."
"Great. Now we have to go." Aspen muttered, shaking her head in disbelief.
"Evie's not going anywhere until we fix that highlight of hers." From the corner of her eye, she could see Evil Queen fussing with Evie's makeup, which was already done to perfection.
"Your not taking my Carlos and my Aspen. I'd miss them too much." Cruella declared, bringing her children closer to her.
"Really, mom?" The siblings questioned in unison. One in hopefulness and the other in disbelief.
"Of course. Who would touch up my roots, fluff my fur, and scrape the bunions off my feet?" The reply causing Carlos to deflate and Aspen to grimace. Aspen has given up on their mother treating them as anything more than maids long ago, though Carlos could still be hopeful at times.Β Β
"Maybe a new school wouldn't be too bad." Aspen gave her brother a look, receiving a hum of agreement from him.
"Carlos, there are dogs in Auradon." Cruella slyly warned.
"Oh!" The high pitched squeak from her brother caused Aspen to recoil as she was adjacent to him. "Nope. I'm not going."
"Jay's not going either." Jafar's voice piped from the behind the De Vil's. Aspen glanced behind herself, just in time to observe Jafar snatch a golden lamp that Jay pulled from his pocket. The man rubbed it furiously as soon as it was within his grasp.
An annoyed huff left Maleficent's mouth along with a roll of her eyes. "What's wrong with you all? People used to cower at the mention of our names! For 20 years, I have searched for a way off this island. For 20 years, they robbed us from our revenge..."
Aspen stopped listening following that sentence because she had already accepted the fact that they will travel to Auradon. Maleficent has made up her mind. Furthermore, the evil fairy has been known to be incredibly stubborn.
A soft yawn erupted from the young female, as she went to gather her and Carlos' items. Slight fatigue presented itself as her body ached for some rest. Yesterday, she spent her time doing most of their chores by herself, so her brother didn't have to. It was something the De Vil sister did often, much to Carlos' dismay. The amount of chores their mother gave them daily were absurd and consuming. It was astounding how she managed to complete the tasks at times.Β
Packing took no less than seven minutes, ending with only two duffel bags as the De Vil siblings didn't have much. Thankfully, by the time she got back, Maleficent was done with her speech. Her friends were packing bags themselves. Tossing a duffel at her brother, who barely caught it, she strolled outside to discover a limousine idling. There were Auradon flags on each side of the long sleek black vehicle and out came a man who opened the backseat door & trunk for her.Β
"Wicked." Aspen marveled at the vehicle with a raised brow. She handed her bag to the suited man before proceeding towards the open backseat door that awaited for her. Sliding inside, she smelled fresh leather and something fruity. To the left and right of her was an assortment of various candies. The girl decided to munch on the candies now before the monsters that were her brother and Jay came and devoured everything.Β
When the other villain kids piled into the limousine, they were faced with Aspen hugging a bowl of chocolate with one arm and dangling worm candy over her mouth. The sight surprised no one because Aspen has always been known to have a sweet tooth. She devoured anything and everything sweet that she could access.
Once everyone got settled, the boys dived into the assortment of candies while the girls did their own thing. Aspen continued to eat from the same chocolate and worm candy bowls as she happened to enjoy the two the most.
Evie began to check her makeup, touching it up a little. Something that she did on a daily basis, which makes sense considering who her mother is. After she deemed herself perfect, she began to study Mal and the lack of makeup she had on her skin. "You look a little washed out, let me help." She tries to dabble a bit of concealer on Mal's face, but her advances were futile.
The purple haired girl continued to swipe away Evie's hand, her face curling in disgust. "Ew, stop. I'm plotting."
"Well it's not very attractive." The blue haired female gave up, before turning to her other female companion. "A?" The brush in the Evie's hand sat waiting to be used.
"Sorry E, but not right now." She stuffed a few more small chocolate candies in her mouth.
From the corner of her eyes, she could see Jay's hand creep towards her worm candy bowl. She slapped his hand away. "Nope."
"Why not?!" The long-haired boy whined.
"Because."
"Can I at least have the chocolate?"
At the mention of the chocolates, Carlos joined the conversation. "No, I wanted the chocolate!"
"If she's not giving it to me, she's not gonna give it to you!"
"Aspen, can I have the chocolate, please?" Said girl stared at her brother, debating if she should give him the bowl and she was leaning towards no until he gave her the puppy eyes. Aspen could never resist Carlos's puppy eyes.
"Here." The white-haired girl huffed, shoving the bowl in her brother's arms.
Jay's brown eyes widened in shock. "You did the puppy dog eyes, not cool bro!"
Carlos shrugged, happily eating his candy. "You snooze, you lose."
Jay, refusing to give up, attempted to snatch the bowl out of the other boy's grasp. Of course, though Carlos was resisting. He drew back with the same energy. Then, the two just kept tugging back and forth, nonstop. It was causing Aspen's head to spin just observing it.
"For Hades' sake, if this gets you two to stop, here Jay." The De Vil female slid her worm candy to the beanie-wearing boy.
"Yeah!" The boy cheered. He released the chocolate bowl, causing Carlos to fall back into the seat.
Having nothing else to do now, the dark tawny-brown female decided to enjoy the rest of the ride. Her body eased on the leather as the constant rumble of the engine resonated through her. Unintentionally, slumber began to succumb to her body, her eyes growing heavy. She began to drown out the noise made by her friends and brother as her eyes shut completely.
It was not even five minutes of shut-eye before a grip on her wrist and screams jolted her. "Whaβ" She croaked, only for her voice to get caught in her throat at the sight of them driving right into what seemed to be, the raging waters of the Isle.
"It's a trap!" The words barely escape Carlos' trembling lips as his hand moved to clasp with his sisters, lacing their fingers together. The gentle squeeze he received for her gave him some reassurance, knowing that she was there, right next to him.
It seems that they were all duped because as they made it to the edge of the Isle, a golden bridge materialized. The brilliant, vibrant glow and the fact that it appeared out of nowhere, had the misfits in awe.
Giving his heart a chance to settle, Carlos unlaced his hand with his sisters. "What just happened?"
"I think it was magic," Evie replied.
"Well, that was one hell of a scare." Aspen rolled her deep-set eyes. Her brother almost had a heart attack for nothing.
Mal held a remote in her hands, "Did this button do that?" Her question aimed at the driver.
The man gave the five a glance before facing forward. He motioned to a golden button that was in the front with him. "No, this button did. And this button...." The window between the driver and them began to roll up, signaling the end of the conversation.
Mal smirked. "Nasty. I like that guy."
