Kallie walked over to the nurses station with a soft smile, Lewis behind her just looking around at the remodeled hospital. "Where is Dr. Kumalo?" The nurse looked down at her tablet to check, "she's just getting out of surgery, she'll be at the peds floor." Kallie nods, "thank you." They walked over to the elevator and stepped inside, Kallie pressing the button to the floor. "Were you born here?" He questioned, tucking his hands into his pockets.
"Uh no, I wasn't. I was actually born in South Korea. Kez and Kaylen were born here, including our children. I was the only one who wasn't. But I grew up in this hospital." Kallie answered. Lewis nods, pursing his lips at the new information. They got to the correct floor and stepped out. Kaikara just stepped out of the scrubbing room with a heavy sigh, tears pooling in her eyes. "Mama, you okay?" Kallie asked in concern.
"I-I uh, I lost my patient. She lost too much blood. There was nothing I could do. She was nine, and she wanted to be a singer like Kezie. She had such a beautiful voice." Kaikara sniffles, pulling off her mask and throwing it away. "I'm sorry, mum." Kallie wrapped her arms around the woman. Losing a patient was always hard, but it was worse when it was a child who hadn't even gotten to live.
"I have to go inform the parents and then get ready for another surgery. Kami is at the daycare, so you can go pick her up. I'll be okay. I just need some time to gather myself." Kara rubbed her back as she pulled away, meeting her daughter's sympathetic eyes. "Okay, I understand. You'll be okay, right?" Kallie asked. Kara nods, wiping her eyes, "I'll be fine. I'm going to call your father. He'll cheer me up. You guys have a good day."
"All right. I love you, Mama." Kallie pressed a kiss to her cheek and stepped away.
"I love you, too." Kara smiled, and then pulled Lewis into a quick hug, very happy to see him there with her daughter. "Hope you feel better, Kara." He said, rubbing her arm. "Thank you, child." Kallie took Lewis's hand and dragged him back to the elevator. She clicked the button to the daycare floor. "Is that why your sister quit on being a doctor? She didn't wanna lose patients?" Lewis questioned.
"Uh, sort of. She also didn't want to deal with draining hours. But, she also sees how torn up our mum gets when she loses a patient, so that definitely impact her decision." Kallie explained, moving her hand out of his, unfortunately. They finally got to the floor and he followed her down the unfamiliar halls- at least for him. Kallie knew this hospital like the back of her hand. She walked over to the window and a woman in scrubs walked over, wearing a smile. "Here for Kamiyah?"
Kallie nods with a smile, "yes."
"All right, sign this, and I'll be right back." She slid over a clipboard before leaving to fetch the girl.
Kallie signed the paper and set the pen to the side. They walked over to the door and the nurse opened it. Kamiyah giggled excitedly, "Mama! Lewis!" She held out her arms and Lewis scooped her up with a bright smile, "there's my favorite girl! You been good?" Kallie chuckles, mumbling a thank you to the surprised nurse, who had no idea that Kami even had a father in her life. "Hungry," Kami informed, resting her head on his shoulder.
"What'd you wanna eat, babygirl?" Kallie asked, running her hand through Kami's curls, noting how much her hair had grown.
"Sarmie," Kami answered, poking at the purple mark poorly hidden under his shirt.
"Stop poking him," Kallie chuckled, leading them down the hall and back to the elevator. "Fuck," Kami mumbled, and both of them turned to look at her with shocked expressions. "Who taught you that?" Lewis questioned, stepping into the elevator as Kami clicked on the button to the first floor as she insisted on. "Aunt Kezie," Kami said casually, and they both roll their eyes. That made so much sense.
"I'm gonna kill that girl," Kallie muttered.
They walked out to the parking lot, heading over to Kallie's car. "You got her?" She asked, pulling open the backseat door. He nods, setting Kami into the car-seat and buckling her up. They stopped at a sandwich shop and picked up some before Kallie drove off to to their house by beach. Kami was excited to show Lewis the penguins that would come into their backyard.
Kallie unlocked the door and pushed it open, kicking off her shoes. Lewis and Kami walked in next. Kami sat on the floor and pulled off her shoes. Lewis kicked his off next, his eyes looking at the beautiful home. "This is gorgeous. Did you buy it like this?" He asked with an impressed look. "No. I actually bought the land and had it built here. Babygirl, go show Lewis the penguins whilst I get the luggage." Kami nods, taking Lewis's hand and pulling him to the backyard.
Kallie walked upstairs and gathered Kami's stuff before packing it into the car as they had to leave early in the morning. She walked to the backyard, not seeing her daughter or Lewis, so she walked down to the shore. A smile crept up her lips watching Kami and Lewis feed the penguins some of their sandwiches. She sat down in the sand, her thoughts plaguing with the idea of Lewis being apart of her family. He was so good with Kami, and it's like she knew he would be her father.
Lewis stood up and picked Kami up, running towards the water as she squealed in excitement. He ran into the water and she clung onto him, a smile on her face as he dunked her into the water, both of them not caring about being fully clothed. Kallie chuckled softly, biting into her sandwich that they left for her. "Uma!" Kami exclaimed, and that was her current obsession right now. She and Kaikara binged all three Descendants movies and her favorite character was Uma.
Lewis laughs as she splashed the water on his face. "You are my reason to fight even harder for your mother," he said, rubbing her back gently.
"Mama love you," Kami giggles, wrapping her small arms around his neck.
"I'm gonna tell you something. There's this guy, his name is Nyck. He wants to be with your mum." He spoke, and Kami immediately grimaced at the thought of anyone that wasn't Lewis with her mum. "Nobody replace you," she said with determination in her eyes. "I know, no one could ever replace me, okay? I'm not going anywhere. So, you need to make it very clear that this guy will never be your dad. If you don't like him, then your mum will have to drop him. Sound like plan?"
He held his pinky and she nods, wrapping her whole hand around it. "You are my dad. Nyck is bad."
His eyes brightened at her words, of course she had called him that before, but hearing her state it with such conviction certainly warmed his heart. He had a daughter. He actually had a daughter. She was real. She was his. Nothing could change that. He was gonna make sure nobody got in the way. Even if he had a little help from his favorite little troublemaker. "That's right. I'm your dad. You're my daughter."
"I'm cold." She shivered, clutching onto him.
"Let's get back to your mum." He chuckled, walking out of the water. They walked over to her, sand sticking to their wet clothes. "Do you got a fireplace? We're freezing." He asked, Kami still holding onto him for any warmth. Kallie nods, quickly standing up. She led them to the backyard and threw some firewood into the the fireplace. They sat down as she lit a fire like it was easiest thing in the world.
Lewis set Kami on the sofa and wrapped a towel around her before he tugged off his wet shirt. "You two have fun?" Kallie asked, crossing her legs under her, biting into her sandwich.
"Do you have boyfriend?" Kami asked with a judgemental look.
Kallie almost choked on her sandwich, meeting her daughter's judging and suspicious eyes. "What? No. Why would ask that?" Kami shrugged, leaning against Lewis. Kallie looked to him and he just shrugged, pretending to act clueless. "Mari have girlfriend," Kami mumbled, catching both of them off guard. What was with her spilling people's secrets?
"How do you know that?" Kallie scoffed in disbelief, not believing that Keziyah would let her nine year old date.
"I don't know," Kami mumbled, confusing her parents. "Sarmie," she reached for her mum's sandwich and Kallie just gave it to her. She held it in her hands and took small bites, probably thinking they were big bites. "I was thinking we could have a movie night. I can make some food, too." Kallie pitched, and Kami nodded excitedly. "Help?" She requested.
"Of course you can, babygirl. Uh, Lew, do you mind watching her whilst I pick up some things at the shop for dinner?" She asked, standing up from the outside couch they lounged on.
"Yeah, of course. Just be careful." Lewis said.
Kami smiled, giggling softy when Kallie pressed a kiss to her head. "Be good for Lewis, okay? I'll be back." She quickly walked back inside before her daughter got any sneaky ideas to get her and Lewis to kiss.
"Let's dry you off, come on," Lewis stood up and took her hand, the girl hopping off the couch and following him back into the house.
An hour or two went by and Kallie was back, kicking off her shoes and nudging the door closed. She set the bags down in the kitchen and walked down to the living room. Lewis and Kami sat at the piano, he was teaching her how to play Kallie's song, Stay. "I'm starting dinner," she spoke up, gaining their attention. Kami giggles in excitement, and Lewis scooped her up. "Let's go help your mum with dinner," he mumbled, pressing a kiss to her head.
"We make Rasta Pasta and Roti," Kallie said, pulling the ingredients out of the paper bag.
"That sounds good," Lewis comments, sitting down on the stool.
After a very fun time making the food, they finally finished it and went to the living room to watch a movie. "What do you wanna watch, babygirl?" She asked, settling down on the couch, crossing her legs under her. "That one!" Kami points to the movie, Coco. Kallie clicked on it and the movie played as they all enjoyed their food. Kami danced along to the songs as she took small bites of her food, trying to copy the way Lewis was eating cause he was fucking his food up.
"Un poco loco," Kami mumbled, humming along to the song from the movie.
Kallie stood up and picked up Kami, "let's dance!" Kami giggled, her mother setting her down onto the carpet. They danced along to the song, and then Kami grabbed onto Lewis's hand to pull him up and dance. He chuckled, standing up and dancing with them. He took Kallie's hand and spun her around before pulling her back into his arms. Kami cheered, loving to see them so close to each other considering how distant her mother acted at times.
The song ended and they all laughed, plopping back down on the couch. Kami climbed onto Lewis's lap and rested her head on his chest with a content smile. "Mama!" She whined, seeing how far Kallie was sitting from them. "You have serious attachment issues," Kallie mumbled, getting up and moving to sit closer to them. It wasn't close enough so Lewis pulled her closer until their legs touched.
The movie soon finished, and Kami was out, small snores leaving her. "I took her a bath after you left so we can just put her sleep," Lewis mumbled as she switched off the television. "Oh okay. Her room is upstairs, the door is purple. I'll be right up." Kallie said, picking up all their dishes. She went into the kitchen and put them in the dishwasher as Lewis brought Kami up to her bedroom.
She went upstairs and walked inside, Lewis was laying her down into the bed. Kallie went on her other side and gently pulled the covers over her. He grabbed the plush doll of himself and handed it to the tired Kami. She quickly wrapped her arms around it before closing her eyes. "Good night, babygirl," Kallie pressed a kiss to her head and stood up, brushing herself off. "Night, Mama," she murmured.
"Night, princess." Lewis smiled, pressing a kiss to her hand.
"Night, Baba." Kami murmured tiredly.
Kallie rubbed her neck awkwardly, quickly moving out of the room. Lewis shut the door and watched her in confusion as she fiddled with her rings anxiously. "S-She will- she'll grow out of that," she mumbled to herself. "I'm sorry for her. She's young. She thinks anyone is her father. She's just confused." Kallie spoke, more so just trying to convince herself of this.
"She's smarter than you think, Kallie." Lewis rebutted.
"She doesn't have a father," Kallie denied, walking down the stairs as he followed her.
"What's your problem? What's so wrong with her calling me that? You should be glad she looks at me that way. She cares about the people in her life. I am one of those people whether you like it or not." He argued, and she shook her head, switching on the dishwasher. "You can be an adult figure in her life, but that doesn't make you her father," Kallie replied in Xhosa, finding it harder for her words to have impact in English.
"What's your plan here, Kallie? You want her to never have another parent?" Lewis questioned, finding that extremely hard to believe.
"If that's what it takes, yes! My job as her mother is to protect her!" She snapped, turning around, her sharp eyes meeting his softer brown ones. "No, your job is to love her, to make her happy. This isn't making her happy! You pushing me away will only hurt her. Why can't you see it? Why can't you see how happy I make her? Why can't you see how much I love her?" He responded, a look of hurt in his eyes.
"You will leave. Everyone leaves and I won't let that happen to her," she said.
"This isn't even about her anymore, is it? This is about you." He pointed out in realization.
She scoffed, shaking her head as she sprayed down the counter top. "You're ridiculous."
"It's been ten years, Kallie. You need to move on. Not everyone is Kimura. I get it- you're scared to love like that again. I know how it feels. But you're gonna have to let someone in eventually. You wanna protect Kami from that same heartbreak you felt, but I promise you, I'm not going anywhere. I'm not leaving. I won't leave you, both of you. I want to be there for you both. I want us to be a family, Kallie. You want that, too. I know you do." He stated.
She walked over to him, staring up at him with no detectable reaction. "She'll grow out of it."
"Only if you let her."
"If that's what it takes." Kallie shrugged, walking past him and up the stairs.

"Stop taking your shoes off! We need to go!" Kallie groaned, running over to her daughter who was throwing her shoes away angrily. "No! I want Lewis! You make him sad! You take Lewis from me!" She cried, guilt bubbling up in Kallie's chest as her daughter's cries. Lewis had ended up leaving after their argument in South Africa. But he woke up Kami to tell her goodbye with tears pooled in his eyes and ever since, she had been throwing fits. She was very angry with her mum which was very rare.
"I didn't take him from you. He left! You need to get over it. Everyone leaves eventually." Kallie muttered, grabbing her daughter's shoes and putting them back on as she continued to cry. "Baba won't leave me," she sniffles. "He is not your Baba. You don't have one. Now get up. We need to go. Nyck is almost here. You need to be on your best behavior. This is very important to me. Can you do that for me? Please?"
Kami wiped her eyes and nodded sadly, wishing Lewis were here. "Can call Lewis later?" She pleaded.
Kallie sighed, she would've said no but she didn't want Kami to kick or scream about it, so she had to say yes. "Fine. You can call Lewis when we get back." Kami smiled and stood up, suddenly feeling all better. Kallie huffed and picked up her before unlocking the door and pulling it open. She stepped outside and shut the door- locking it. Kami frowned at the car parked in the driveway, a man standing next to it.
"Did you want to take your car instead? I don't have a car seat." Nyck spoke, tucking his hands into his pockets.
"Oh, yeah, sure. Kami, this is Nyck, say hi." Kallie spoke, but Kami just stared at him, blinking once with disinterest. "She gets like this around new people. Sorry," Kallie spoke apologetically, shooting a glare to Kami who reciprocated it. "That's completely okay. We have plenty of time to get familiar with each other." Nyck smiled, shrugging it off- trying his best to ignore the glare the child had on him.
Kallie opened the garage and walked over to her car, pulling open the backseat. She set Kami into the car-seat and buckled her up. "Be nice or no Lewis," she muttered pointedly and Kami frowned. She shut the door and sighed, "did you want me to drive?" She asked, clearly used to it as Lewis hated driving. Fuck, now she was thinking about Lewis. Of course.
"Oh no, that's fine. I'll drive. I'm pretty good in Monaco traffic." Nyck said, pulling open the passenger door for her. She smiled softly and climbed inside, shutting the door after her. Nyck climbed into the driver's seat and started up the car. "You guys are vegan, right?" He questioned. Kallie nods, playing with the hem of her dress, "yes, we both are."
"I've never tried vegan food, but my friend told me about this vegan restaurant here, so I hope that's okay with you." He said, pulling out of the driveway. "Oh yeah, that's perfect. Thank you for thinking of that. A lot of people dismiss it." Kallie smiled, turning to give Kami her phone so she was entertained, and to distract her from glaring at Nyck.
They got to the restaurant and took their seats at a table in the corner. "Sarmie," Kami mumbled, pushing the menu away from her. "What's a sarmie?" Nyck asked in curiosity, not seeing it on the menu. "It's a sandwich. We call it sarmie in South Africa," Kallie explained, now thinking about how Lewis already knew the meaning because he spent so much time around her family and took the time to familiarize himself with her cultures.
"Is that your favorite?" He asked Kamiyah, she stared at him and nodded once after remembering she would get to speak to Lewis after this. She turned to her mum, fluttering her lashes innocently, "is he my new daddy?" Her eyes widened and Nyck coughed, almost choking on his water. "Ignore her. She likes to joke around," Kallie rushed out, shooting her a glare but she just wore a smug look.
"Right. Uh- just curious, but who is her father? You weren't really much of a dater back then," Nyck spoke.
"Lewis," Kami giggled.
"She's kidding. He's just a friend," Kallie explained, shooting the girl another glare. "Her biological father passed away before she was born. But, I rather not think about that." Nyck nods in understanding, "right, yeah, of course. Sorry for bringing that up. It's none of my business." She shrugged lightly, "it's fine, you were just curious."
"You know, I thought you hated dates," he spoke.
"Really? Why?" Kallie sipped on her water with her brows knitted in curiosity.
"Lewis told me you did. Strange, right?" Nyck chuckled in amusement. She hummed, pursing her lips, "yeah, very strange." Kami snickered to herself, sipping on her juice box. They made some small talk before the food came over. "Baba cut it for me," Kami mumbled sadly as she looked at her sandwich. "I'll cut it for you," Kallie huffed, taking the plate and cutting it into smaller bite size pieces.
Kami just stared at her food as the two talked and ate theirs. Nyck furrowed his brows, noticing her just looking at her food with sad eyes. "Did you want something else to eat, Kamiyah?" He asked. "Babygirl, what's wrong? I thought you wanted a sarmie," Kallie spoke softly, setting a hand on her daughter's cheek, a tear rolling down it. She shook her head, more tears falling down her cheeks.
"Is she okay? What's wrong?" Nyck questioned, not aware if this behavior was normal.
"I'm really sorry about this. Can we just stop somewhere really quick?" Kallie asked, standing up and pulling her bag over her shoulder. "Yeah, of course. I'll go pay. Just wait in the car for me." Nyck nodded in understanding. Kallie scooped up Kami and carried her out to the car. "If it makes you finally eat, you can stay with Lewis for a few days, okay? Are you okay with that?" Kallie spoke, tears falling from her eyes because she hated to see her daughter so heartbroken.
Kami nodded, sniffles leaving her as Kallie buckled her up. Nyck got back to the car and handed Kallie a small container of the sandwich that Kami hadn't eaten. "I figured she'd want it later. I'm sorry- I'm still adjusting to this. I'm not very good with kids." He mumbled, starting up the car. "No, that's okay. That was sweet of you to do. Can you stop by my house really quick? I need to pack her a bag. She's gonna stay with a friend for a few days."
"Yeah, of course. No problem." Nyck agreed.
They stopped at the house and Kallie packed up a suitcase for Kami. Then they drove towards Lewis's apartment, of course Nyck didn't know that yet. "I'll get the suitcase." He mumbled, getting out of the car and walking around the boot of it. Kallie picked up Kami into her arms as Nyck grabbed her things. They walked into the building and stepped into the elevator. Kami didn't even press the button like she always insisted on. She sighed, waiting until they got to the correct floor.
They stepped out and she looked for the apartment, finding the correct number before knocking on the door. It was pulled open after a few long seconds, Lewis stared at the three in confusion. "What's going on?" Kallie sighs, wiping her tears, "she won't eat. She's depressed. I don't what to do. She keeps asking for you. Can you watch her for a few days? Cheer her up or something? I can't stand seeing her like this."
"Of course, yeah, I can totally watch her." Lewis immediately took the girl in his arms, Kami resting her head on his shoulder. "Come in," he held the door open and Roscoe ran over upon seeing Kallie. She smiled sadly and leaned down to pet him. "Uh, I've got everything you'll need in her suitcase. Just call me if you need anything at all. I'm really sorry about dropping in like this. She just wasn't having a good day. She refused to eat at the restaurant."
"It's completely fine. You don't need to explain yourself. I'll take care of her. She'll be okay." Lewis reassured, rubbing the girl's back as she hugged him with her small arms. "I'll call you when I come to pick her up in a few days." Kallie spoke, moving over to Nyck who waited patiently for her.
"Go say bye to your mum," Lewis set her down, urging her along.
Kami sniffles, walking over as Kallie bent down to her height. "Bye Mama." Kallie smiled sadly and wrapped her arms around the small girl, pressing a kiss to her head. "Bye babygirl. Have fun with Lewis, okay?" She smiled, and Kami nods, moving over to sit by Roscoe. Kallie stood back up, brushing herself off, "thank you again for this." Lewis shrugged, "it's no problem, really, I don't mind. I'll give you check ins about her. Don't stress yourself out. Take this time to relax. She's in good hands."
"I will. Thank you." Kallie took Nyck's hand and led him out, shutting the door after themselves.
Lewis locked the door and turned to Kami with squinted eyes. "All right, she's gone. Cut the act. You got what you want." He spoke, and Kami looked up at him with a smile. "Don't think I'm lettin' you off the hook, missy. You had your mum worried sick. Don't do that again. When she comes to pick you up, you're gonna give her a damn good apology. Is that understood?" Kami huffs, nodding her head in understanding.
"Okay, it's getting late, so you're gonna eat and then it's bedtime." Lewis said, picking up her suitcase and the diaper bag. She moved to sit on the couch, Roscoe laying down next to her. He handed her the container with her sarmie and switched on the TV, settling on the movie Frozen. He sat down and pulled open her suitcase, she had many clothes, shoes, soap, and some toys that couldn't sleep without.
"Did your mum take you a bath today?" He questioned and Kami nods her head, chewing on her sandwich. "Fuck, I knew she forgot something. I don't have a car-seat." Lewis mumbled, standing up from the couch. "You wanna go see your Uncle Nico?" He asked. Kami nods excitedly, and he scooped her up in his arms. "Let's go see Uncle Nico then. Roscoe, wait here. We'll be back." He slid on some shoes and walked out of the door.
He stepped into the elevator and Kami insisted on pushing the button, so he obviously let her. They got to the correct floor and he stepped out, walking down the hall to Nico's apartment. He knocked on the door and after a few long seconds the door was pulled open. Nico rubbed his eyes tiredly, furrowing his brows at the sight of Lewis and Kami. "Uh, hello?" Lewis smiled tightly, Kami smiling at the tired Nico. "Hey, uh- I'm sorry to bother you guys. I just realized I don't have a car-seat and I figured you might have one lying around."
"Oh, yeah, we do. Come in. I'll go get it." He pulled open the door wider and Lewis stepped inside the familiar place. Nico raised a brow of amusement, "Are you Kami's new babysitter?" Lewis laughed sarcastically, lifting his middle finger at the blonde. "Very funny." Kami giggles at their banter and Nico smiled, "I find it very hard to believe that Kallie left her prized possession with you. That's just very irresponsible." He said.
Lewis feigned offense, "what's that supposed to mean? You calling me a bad parent?" He queried. "I'm just saying, you're not exactly the caring type." Nico shrugged, walking off down the hall to fetch the car-seat. Lewis rolled his eyes, looking at Kami who just smiled. "Don't listen to him. I'm very caring. He's just jealous." Kami giggled, patting his cheek to show she didn't really care all that much.
Nico returned, car-seat in hand. "Do you even know how to put it in the car?" He questioned, handing it to Lewis. "Of course I know how." He scoffed. Nico raised a brow, finding that extremely hard to believe. "Do you want me help you put it in the car?" Lewis sighed, his eyes rolling in disdain, "...yes." The blonde chuckled and took the car-seat, "come on. I'll show you how."
They walked out and to the elevator, Kami getting to push the button again. "So, what's going on with you and Kallie?" Nico questioned. "I'm not sure. She's complicated. Just before she dropped Kami off, she was on a date with Nyck," Lewis shrugged, and Kami scowled at the name. "De Vries? Wow. He really did it." Nico mumbled. Lewis furrowed his brows slightly, "don't tell me you actually believe that's gonna be something. He couldn't handle her."
"And you can?" Nico scoffed in disbelief.
"Yes, I can," Lewis shot back.
"If you could handle her, we wouldn't be here right now. It took you nine years to finally make a move, and even then, you're still not with her. Why is that? You can't handle her." Nico retorts knowingly. "You know, you're the last one to talk. You could've helped me in karting, but you chose to be a bad friend and hog her all to yourself." Lewis argued, Kami looking in between the two with confusion. She swore they were friends. At least that's what she seen in the pictures.
"You had an entire year to make a move but you chickened out each time because you're shit at expressing your feelings. You lost her because you're a hard ass." Nico shot back, stepping out of the elevator as the doors had opened. "I have a hard time believing that this is about me and Kallie now." Lewis muttered, following Nico outside to the garage.ย
"Believe what you want. But every relationship you've had ended because you couldn't put your partner first." Nico shrugged, waiting for him to unlock the car. "Is that what this is about? I couldn't put our friendship first?" Lewis scoffed, unlocking the car. Nico just shrugged his shoulder carelessly, "you said it, not me." Kami frowned, not liking how much they argued, even if she had no idea what it was about.
"Whatever man. Just show me how to put the car-seat in." Lewis muttered, pulling open the car door. Nico sat inside and installed the car-seat, showing Lewis each step like it was the easiest thing in the world. "There you go. You're welcome." Nico shut the door and Lewis locked the car again. "Thanks. Now, let's never speak again unless we have to." Lewis smiled sarcastically, walking back into the building.
They unfortunately still had to take the elevator together. "Not friends?" Kami spoke sadly, tears beginning to roll down her cheeks. "No no no, don't cry," Lewis rushed out but it was too late. She was in full blown tears. "What'd you do to her?" Nico questioned. "I didn't do anything! It's your fault. You started being an asshole." Lewis argued, rubbing her back but she continued to sob.
"You started it! Fix it!" Nico rushed out in panic.
"I don't know what to do!" Lewis exclaimed.
"You're terrible at this. Give me the girl." Nico took Kamiyah into his arms, patting her back gently but she wasn't stopping at all. Lewis shot him a pointed look, "and you had the nerve to say I'm bad at this!" Nico huffed, stepping out of the elevator. They walked into his apartment and his wife Vivian flipped on the lights, crossing her arms over her chest. "Where did you go?" She questioned.
"I can explain. But can you just fix her? She won't stop crying." Nico rushed out, handing the girl to his wife. Vivian quickly hugging onto her, rubbing her back in a soothing manner, the girl beginning to calm down under her comforting touch. "She doesn't need fixing. What did you boys do to her?" She questioned, furrowing her brows slightly in confusion.
"We didn't do anything," Nico denied.
Lewis scoffed, crossing his arms over his chest, "yeah right. You started a full blown argument with me right in front of her." Nico scoffs, shaking his head, "I did no such thing. If it's anyone's fault, it's his." Vivian shared a look with Kami as the two former best friends began to argue like nobody's business. "Enough!" She snapped, covering Kami's ears. "You two are being ridiculous. All of this bickering is what's upsetting her. She sees you two as best friends that karted with her mum. She doesn't know what happened after that."
They both looked down, guilt bubbling up in their chests as Kami sniffles. "Hug," she mumbled.
The two shared a look, equally disgusted by the thought of actually hugging. "No," they both refused. Kami sobbed again and Vivian gave them a scolding look. "See what you did? Hug, now. Or I'll call Kallie and tell her that you both made her daughter cry." The two cursed under their breaths, having zero desire to get cursed out by a pissed off Kallie. They turned to each other and leaned in for an awkward hug, patting each other's back with fake smiles.
"You see that? They're best friends. You don't need to cry anymore." Vivian coaxed, wiping Kami's tears away with the pad of her thumb.
Kami smiled, hugging the woman happily. Lewis cleared his throat awkwardly, "we should go. It's past her bedtime." Nico scoffed under his breath, "wonderful influence you are," he muttered. Lewis shot him a glare, "shut up." Vivian glared at both of them again, both quickly shutting up at her look. She passed Kami back to Lewis, the girl patting his cheek with a giggle. "Bye-bye!" She cheered, leaning forward to pat Nico's head.
He chuckled, waving them off with a smile, "goodnight, Kami."
"Say bye," Kami demanded at her father. He huffed dramatically, "fine. Goodbye, Nico. Hopefully forever." She frowned and hit his head as he walked down the hall to get out of there as fast as possible before she made them hug it out again. "We are never speaking of this to your mother, okay?" Kami giggled, resting her head on his shoulder as they got back to his apartment.
He set her down on the bed and pulled the covers over her, many toys tucked under the blanket with her. "All right. Stay here. I have to take a shower. No getting out of bed unless there's an emergency." Kami nods at his words, resting her head on the soft pillow. "I'll leave the lamp on for you. I promise, I'll be right back," he pressed a kiss to her head and stood up, walking to the bathroom.

"Kami, you're gonna fall over. Don't pick that up." Lewis scolds, and she ignores him, picking up the small hand weight and immediately tipping over and falling. Instead of crying, she just giggled. Lewis chuckles, returning to his work out. Kami moved along to the music as she played with Roscoe. After another 15 minutes, he finished up his workout and set Kami in the living room to watch as movie so he could take a quick shower.
When he returned, he spotted Kami standing on the couch dancing along to song that was playing in the High School Musical movie. He chuckled and took a quick video before plopping down on the couch. "What'd you wanna do today, princess? I canceled all work related things for you."
"Karting!" Kami cheered, clapping her hands together.
"Would your mum allow that?" He questioned in suspicion.
Kami went silent, shaking her head in honesty as she slouched forward. "No."
"I would love to take you, but that's something your mum needs to be apart of. But, I do know some cool things we can do in Monaco. You like boats?" Kami's eyes lit up and she nodded, "boats!" Lewis smiled and stood up, switching off the TV. "Okay then, let's get ready. Come on." She followed him up the stairs and went to her suitcase that was sitting in his closet. Lewis sat down next to her as she went through her clothes to pick an outfit.
"What about this?" He picked up the small t-shirt that had Kallie's racing number and symbol on it. Kami nods, and picks out some shorts and a pair of sneakers.
Soon enough, they were on a boat. Kami was having the time of her life whilst Lewis had been trying his best to cover her face when they got to the boat. Monaco was always so busy so obviously the minute he was spotted, cameras and fans soon followed. Kami sat down, watching the water in awe. Lewis checked his social media and of course he was trending again. But now everyone had theories of him being Kami's biological father and co-parenting with Kallie. Everyone had come to the conclusion that Kallie and Nyck were involved after the pics of them arriving a the hotel together had gotten out.
"Well, I'm dead," Lewis mumbled, shutting off his phone and turning his attention to Kami and Roscoe. He laid down on his stomach, keeping a close eye on the girl. His phone went off and he quickly reached for it, seeing it was Kalliope.

Sounds good!
Kami sat up, peeking over his shoulder to look at his phone. "Mama?" He nods, turning off the phone and turning to look at her. "Yeah. She said you're gonna stay with me for a few more days. And she's gonna call tonight to say goodnight." Kami smiled, clapping her hands in excitement. "Yay!" She climbed onto his back and he laughed as she attempted to stand up, only to keep falling.
"Am I gonna have tiny footprints on my back when you're done?" Lewis mused, as she fell over again.
"Dolphin!" Kami squealed, crawling over to the ledge, and Lewis reached out to hold her legs so she didn't fall into the water.
"I'm far too paranoid to be on a boat with a child," he mumbled, pulling her back just a bit.
"Want ice cream," Kami informed, sitting back up and he sighed in relief as she moved from the ledge. "Alright, but we're gonna have to stop by the shop to get an ice cream maker because I don't have one. I'm also gonna buy you some more clothes cause Mama didn't pack enough." He said, moving to sit up, groaning at the slight pain in his back from her previous activities. It was definitely gonna leave some kind of bruise.
"I want see Lando," Kami said randomly.
Lewis blinked, her requests getting out of hand. "Uh, okay. I can plan something with him for tomorrow. Do you like golf?" He asked.
"What that?" Kami questioned, petting Roscoe's fur.
"I can't believe your mum didn't teach you what golf is. Don't worry, you'll love it." Lewis pressed a kiss to her head and she giggled.

"Don't swing that at me!" Charles shrieked, running away from the girl as she swung around her mini golf club. "I don't think she likes you very much," Carlos snorts, leaning down to high five the girl. "Chili!" She giggled, and he scooped her up in his arms. They looked over at the sound of a car approaching and Lewis sighed at the sight of the dark purple Ferrari that belonged to Kalliope. "Fucking hell. She's gonna kill him." He muttered.
Lando and Kaylen stepped out of the car with bright grins. Kami squealed, wiggling out of Carlos's arm to run to Lando. He smiled and picked her up, "what's up, minion?!" She giggled, patting his head of curls. "You got any info on Kez?" He asked quietly and she nodded. "Single," Kami confirmed. Lando cheered, spinning her around, "yes! You my mini friend, are amazing. Here ya go. Gummy bears as promised." He handed her a packet of the gummy bears and she cheered.
"Did you seriously cut a deal with a 2 year old?" Carlos deadpanned as they walked into the building. They were doing mini golf, obviously, because Kami was too small to be doing the grown up version. "Yes I did. She's very smart for her age. Don't judge me," Lando scowled. Kaylen snorts, picking Kami from his arms and she hugged him with a smile. She turned to Lewis who was paying at the front. "Lew!"
He turned around upon her calls, "what is it, princess?"
"Open." Kami held out her pack of gummy bears and he took it, ripping it open before handing it back to her. "Thank you," she smiled, digging her small fingers into the gummys. Lando reached for one but she slapped his hand away, scowling at him, "no!" He gasped, holding a hand over his heart in a dramatic manner, "excuse me? I paid for those! I made sure they were vegan and everything!"
"She doesn't care," Carlos snorts.
"Can I have one, princess?" Lewis asked, holding his hand out to her. Kami smiled and nods, setting two gummy bears in his hand.
Lando blinked as Carlos and Kaylen laughed at him. "Okay. I see how it is," he scoffed.
"What color do you want?" Lewis held up the different colored golf balls and Kami quickly picked the purple one from his hand. Lando took the orange. Kaylen took the green. Charles took the red. Lewis took the neon yellow, and Carlos just picked the white one. They walked outside to the course and Kaylen set Kami down so he could go first. "I'm gonna smoke all of you. I'm amazing at mini golf," he gloated.
"Shut up," Kami scowled, hitting his leg.
"No hitting, unless it's Lando," Lewis mumbled and she giggled, nodding her head.
"I heard that!" Lando frowned.
"Good!" Kami cheered.
