•Chanel Cohnes•

"Come on Chanel, you've got a busy day tomorrow. Your dress is all sorted."

"Why do we have to go?" Chanel complained as she made her way down off her window sill, and over to her bed. She liked to perch in her bay window and watch the stars, constellations dazzling in harmony with the full moon. Her Step-Mum, Analia, was getting ready to tuck her in for the night.

"Because your Aunt is getting married. It's not everyday that happens." Analia explained, pulling the covers over Chanel, tucking the quilt in under her arms.

"Are we going to do my make up?"

"Of course pumpkin." Analia smiled brightly and placed a small kiss on the top of Chanel's head, preparing to exit the room to allow her to sleep peacefully.

"Can you tell me another story? About Hogwarts."

"What kind of story do you want to hear this time?" The brunette woman perched on the side of her bed.

"Did you have a boyfriend at school?"

"No I didn't." She chuckled out at her step-daughter's curiosity.
"But, there was this one boy I was in love with."

"What was he like?"

"Since when have you been interested in boys?" Analia joked, causing the girl to flush up in embarrassment. You see, there was a boy at school that Chanel thought was very cool. But, he thought that her best friend Embry was the prettiest girl in school...

Chanel has never been the type of girl to be interested in boys or fairytales. She thought they were ridiculous. However, a new boy turned up halfway through the school year, whom made her smile every time he crossed her peripheral view. Ever since she first laid her eyes on him, she had suddenly been interested in fairytales and their happy endings. Don't let this fool you though, she still thought boys were stupid.

"Who was the boy you liked?" She turned the attention back on Analia, waiting for her fairytale. It was currently summertime, July to be exact, and Chanel was excited to find out her crush was going to the same high school as her.. Oh, little did she know, she was actually receiving a very important letter tomorrow that would change everything. But, more on that later...

"His name was Lucius. Long blonde hair, tall and a Slytherin." She started as Chanel cuddled the teddy bear her mother was going to give her once they got home from the hospital, the day she was born... Except, Chanel was the only one that made it out of the hospital that day. It's the only thing she had of her mother's!

"I thought Slytherin's were mean?"

"They were. Most of them; Not all of them though. That's mostly a stereotype. I worked on some projects with some really nice Slytherins."

"So, was he one of the nice ones?"

"Not exactly. He was probably one of the cruelest wizards there. He didn't like anyone outside of the Slytherin house. He called a lot of people names, he pushed people around and he liked to control people." She started.
"He came from a rich family. They were quite well known in the Wizarding World. Along with the Blacks."

"The Blacks? Like your friend Sir- Siris?"

"Sirius." She corrected her.
"Yes, Sirius Black. He wasn't someone that Lucius hung out with. Lucius knew Sirius' cousins in Slytherin. They didn't like him so much."

"Why?"

"He hung out with the people they didn't like." Analia put it in simple terms. As Chanel was only 11 years old, she didn't want to introduce her to the whole "blood-traitor" thing. In fact, she hadn't mentioned the different blood types at all. Chanel knew that Analia was half magical. She just thought that everyone at Hogwarts would be half magical. Analia wanted to keep her step-daughter's dreams of Hogwarts school as happy as ever, without introducing the different blood types and discriminations of other bloods. That's not to say she wouldn't tell her stories of mean people she encountered. These people were sadly everywhere, whether they were muggles or witches/wizards.

"Was Lucius ever mean to you?"

"Yes, throughout most of my time at Hogwarts. I was someone he would always call names or joke about because I was different. I was someone who would always know answers to questions in class. This one time he even knocked the books out of my hands. Some of them were from the library, I was taking them back. He just laughed and went on to find someone else." Again, leaving out the fact she was mostly bullied for being a Half-Blood.

"He doesn't sound nice at all."

"He wasn't."

"Why were you in love with someone who bullied you?" Chanel asked, curious as to how someone could like someone who's mean. She hated the boys and girls in her school that were mean.

"The heart wants what it wants, and mine chose him at the time." Analia sighed out.

"I'm never going to let that happen to me." Chanel was so sure. The confidence flowing out of her...
"Do you still love him now?"

"Definitely not. I found someone better" She turned back to see Chanel's father, Dario stood in the doorway. His shoulder leaning against the doorframe as his arms were folded across his chest. A smile could be seen on his face, spreading from ear to ear.

"Gross." The word spurted out of Chanel's mouth loudly.

"You think it's gross now, but wait until you fall in love."

"I'm never falling in love. Boys are mean and gross." Except from the new boy in her school. He was the only exception to her.

"You say that now. But wait until your hormones kick in." Analia smiled out as Chanel pulled a disgusted face at the utterance.
"You'll be breaking all of the boys' hearts in a couple years."

"How do you know that?"

"I just do." She kissed the top of Chanel's head again before turning out the lamp beside her.
"Goodnight pumpkin." She slipped out of the room after Dario kissed the top of her head too.

"Goodnight." She sleepily whispered, thinking up how beautiful Hogwarts is from the past descriptions she's heard.

"Chanel, come on darling. We need to eat and get ready." Her father knocked on her door. The time was currently 8:00am, 3 hours until the start of her Aunt's wedding. Chanel jumped out of bed and raced down the stairs to meet her parents in the kitchen. The smell of bacon and eggs tickled her nostrils and caused a rumble in her stomach.

"Are you going to promise to be good with your cousin today? We don't want to ruin the wedding today." Her step-mum piped up, placing a plate of bacon and eggs in front of her at the table.

"Yes." She replied, half listening. She scooped up her breakfast happily, humming to herself as she did.

Briiiing.

"Oh, can you get that? It might be Patricia panicking before the wedding." Analia asked Dario, placing the frying pan into the sink to soak and cool down.

"Hi." Dario greeted the stranger at the door. They were definitely not Patricia. The long white beard and the wrinkle covered face gave it away.
"Can I help you?"

"Professor Dumbledore?" Analia called out as she came rushing over to the door, expecting her sister to be stood where the old man was.

"Analia Chimes? Is that you?" He questioned with a bright smile on his face. Analia was one of the most successful and powerful witches during her time at Hogwarts; knowing all of the spells, potions and information for every class she took.

"What are you doing here?"

"Well, someone had their 11th birthday this year. If I'm not wrong."

Chanel heard the mention of '11th birthday' and made her appearance. Hiding behind Analia. She thought the old man looked a little bit creepy with how wrinkly he was.

"I have a very special letter here, for a Chanel Cohnes." Dumbledore pulled out a famous Hogwarts letter from his robe and smiled down at Chanel, who's eyes peered up at her parents for support before taking it. She flipped it over to reveal a red, wax seal with the Hogwarts crest stamped into it.

"Hogwarts? Look I got my Hogwarts letter." A gigantic smile formed on her face as she jumped up and down in excitement, shocking the old man.

"I was under the impression Chanel was born into a Muggle family?" Dumbledore questioned, confusion washing over him as he eyed the married couple.

"She was. Her biological mother didn't make it during the birth. I found Analia after. She's the reason Chanel knows about the wizarding world."

"Ah. That makes my job easier. All Muggle-born witches or wizards have to be introduced to the Wizarding World by staff. It gives them time to process all of it, espeically the parents." He glanced over at Dario.
"I see there's no need for that here. I'll see you on September 1st." He told Chanel before disappearing down the street, he appeared to be hobbling to another house further down from the Cohnes.

"Who was that?" Chanel asked, curious yet again. She was a very curious child after all...

"That was Professor Dumbledore, he's the headmaster at Hogwarts."

"Cool." Chanel beamed again, tearing into her letter to read it.

"Come on. No telling everyone about this ok? Especially Polly... Hogwarts is our little secret." Polly was Chanel's cousin, the two were very close since they were the same age and went to the same muggle school.

.•.•.•.•.•

"What if I get picked on? Like you were."

"Oh pumpkin. You won't get picked on." Analia hesitated as she tucked Chanel into bed after a long day of wedding celebrations.

"What if I am? Boys are mean"

"Those  boys are stupid if they pick on you. I don't think you need to worry about it, do you know why?" Chanel shook her head softly.
"Because, like I said earlier, I think you're gonna be out there breaking these boys hearts in the future." She kissed the top of her head again, before telling her another story until she dozed off.

•Draco Malfoy•

"Your aunt is coming for dinner today." Narcissa softly spoke as her son, Draco, picked at his plate.

"Why is she coming again?"

"Because it's a very special week for you. Anytime this week you could receive-"

"-It's just a letter Mum." Draco cut her off, stabbing his fork through a piece of bacon. He didn't understand why people were so excited about a letter. He already knew he'd be going to Hogwarts. As a pureblood it was expected. So, he didn't understand why he had to be reminded about the letter coming every so often. He was more excited about actually going to the school in September, than waiting for some stupid letter to arrive.

"Now, now, don't be rude Draco." Lucius, his father piped up as he cut into an egg on his plate.

"Sorry father."

"That's better. You should be grateful you're going to that school. You'll be trained up for when the Dark-"

"Lucius." Narcissa cut him off before he could finish the name.
"He's just a boy. You'll be learning magic that will be useful to you in the future." Cissy sugarcoated it to her baby boy. She didn't want him to be apart of the dark bunch her and Lucius were apart of. She would rather have him safe and out of harms way than associated with them and what they do.

Lucius on the other hand, couldn't wait for Draco to join them, so he could be proud of his only son. Draco was to inherit everything him and his wife owned, including the house elves, he at least wanted him to earn it.

"Dobby."

"Yes, Master Malfoy?" Dobby, the house elf, shyly ambled into the room, trying to avoid eye contact with Lucius at all costs.

"Fetch me my book." He demanded and snapped his fingers in a hurried manner.
"Quickly now."

"Yes, Master." Dobby let out a small squeal as he rushed out of the room to fetch Master's book. He presented it to him and jumped out of fear slightly as Master snatched it off him. He hurried away as Young Master pulled a face at him, amused by his timorous nature.

"Do you have to read that now?" Cissy asked, with a stern facial expression. She often wondered why he did certain things, such as read at the table during breakfast. She hated it. Having meals was one of the only times they could all have a discussion about things going on together. Lucius is normally off doing god knows what and Draco is normally playing around or messing with the house elves. Leaving Narcissa on her own most days. She enjoyed the quiet and the time to herself, especially now since the Dark Lord had gone. But, she wished they did more as a family rather than just seeing each other at meals or at parties or anything Lucius wanted to do to brag about his wealth.

"Quiet." He responded, holding up his hand so Narcissa could only see his palm. His eyes did not divert from his book. What book is it, do you ask? No one really knows, except Lucius himself. Draco had a theory that it was his father's diary from his time at Hogwarts. A much simpler time, before he had Draco to be responsible for.

At night, Draco had thought up plans of stealing his father's book to uncover its secrets. But, of course, he never went through with them, with him being terrified of his father. One wrong move could land him a hit. He learnt that the hard way when he stole one of his aunt's birthday gifts a few year ago, in 87'. His hand was definitely as red as a tomato after that. It was also the day he first started fearing his father.

Everything he did had to be perfect. He had to be the best at everything.

Now that Draco is of the age he can disappear to Hogwarts for the majority of the year, Lucius had been less harsh on him about perfection. Maybe that's just because he will be the school's responsibility during his teenage years...

"I'm taking Draco to Diagon Alley today to fetch his wand and other supplies. We shall be back before Bella gets here." Lucius made Narcissa aware of his plans.

.•.•.•.•.•

"Oh, Draco, do behave." Lucius demanded, seeing Draco throw peas at Dobby from the corner of his eye.

Once Lucius turned his head, Draco threw one last pea at the house elf and sat there with a smug expression on his face for defying his father's orders.

"When does he get his letter?" Bellatrix LeStrange, Draco's aunt, asked her sister Cissy.

"Anytime now, hopefully." Lucius butted in, sounding as hopeful as ever.

Suddenly, a gust of wind was heard from outside. A very important letter flew through the letterbox, the hallways and passed the house elf before landing next to young Draco on the expensive, mahogany table. It was as if the Wizarding World had heard Lucius' prayers.

"Well, go on, open it." Bellatrix's eyes popped open and a grin spread across her face slowly, as if someone was pulling on invisible strings attached to the corners of her lips.

Draco carefully tore open the envelope, revealing the contents inside. A letter from the headmaster welcoming him to the school, a list of school supplies that had been recommended as well as optional supplies such as: a cat, a toad or an owl. A pet the students can choose to bring with them.

Draco may not have acted too excited on the outside, but on the inside he was practically doing flips. His pulse was racing and the medulla of his adrenal gland was releasing spurts of adrenaline into his bloodstream. The young boy was experiencing such a rush just thinking about the freedom from his father.

"Now, remember boy. You better be sorted into Slytherin if you want to come back here." Lucius coldly stated, causing another hit of adrenaline to curse through the young boy's veins.

"Yes father, I'll make sure of it."

"Good." His father was satisfied with his answer.
"Now, let's get some dessert in here. Dobby." He called out, snapping his fingers again.
"Bring in the cake."

AUTHORS NOTE

Hey guys! This is sort of the layout I'm going to have for this book and potentially all of the books. I'm going to try to do it so you read scenes where Draco isn't with Chanel too. Also where Chanel isn't with Draco also, since this book is focused around two characters, not just one.

Depending on if something happens with one character whilst the other is somewhere else, for example of Chanel is in her common room and Draco is is in the courtyard being his usual self then I may go back and forth between the characters. It sounds confusing because I'm just not that great at explaining my thought process but it will make sense as I write more chapters hopefully 😂

I hope you guys enjoy this book. There will be some scenes that are from the films or books (I'm mostly focusing on existing scenes from the movies because it's a little easier for me, but this book is mostly my own stuff so not all of Draco's existing scenes or scenes/quotes from the films/books will be in this book, or I'll cut them short, just because I don't want to be copyrighted or something. Like I said I also want this to be my own thing too, just inspired by J.K. Rowling's work).

I also do not support J.K at all. Appreciate the art she created but don't support her. I disassociate her from the HP world because to me it's a world in itself outside of this one!

Sorry this note was long! I won't always do authors notes at the end of chapters.
