"okay. i have never loved you more, sarah cameron. in a platonic, sister-in-law type of way, obviously." john b announced as he got out the truck, coby getting out as well. sarah got out of the back and walked around the truck with coby. "that was crazy. you straight up donkey-kicked that dude. and you cobe, you tackled that guy like a -"

coby interrupted him by shoving him, the taller boy stumbling before he caught himself. "you lied to us!"

"what are you talking about? we're fine." john b told her, his eyebrows furrowed.

"no, we're not fine!" coby yelled, ignoring how woozy she felt. "you lost the only money we had! you almost got the three of us caught, if not shot! how is that okay?!"

"look, i - i - i'm proactively admitting i screwed up and i'm willing -" john b started, making not only coby look at him like he was crazy, but sarah as well.

"proactively admitting?" coby repeated, stopping john b from talking. "that's doesn't do shit, john b! that does nothing! sarah has lost her whole family! so did we! the both of lost the two people we cared about most! you're all i have, john b. the both of you are. and i can't lose either one of you."

"look, it won't happen again." john b promised, seeing the look in coby's eyes.

"i'm calling the shots now." coby told him.

"no, you're not." sarah jumped in, making the curly haired girl look at her. "your nose just stopped bleeding, meaning you lost a lot of blood. also, you'll do something just as dumb as he did. probably even dumber. i'm calling the shots. and to start, i'm driving." sarah finished, moving back towards the truck.

"how did this get flipped on me?" coby questioned, turning to look at john b. the taller boy shrugged.

sarah then stopped right before she got into the driver's side, realizing something. "i can't drive stick. coby, you are not driving."

"yes, ma'am." coby nodded, following sarah to the other side of the truck while john b walked to the driver's side.

with that, the three pogues pulled off. coby had been squished in between sarah and john b, her head on sarah's shoulder. the blood that had trailed from her nose and down her face had now dried, a lot of it being smudged from her wiping it. the three had came up with a plan to try and get the gold back. but they needed terrance, cleo, and stubbs' help on getting it. they all agreed to let sarah do most of the talking since john b wasn't really good at getting his point across and coby got mad easily.

"okay, this is arguably the worst idea we have ever had." john b told the girls as they climbed out of the truck.

"we've done worse." coby reminded, making sarah point to her in agreement. the trio walked over to the dock, going right to terrance's boat so that they could talk to him. they walked onto his boat, seeing that him, cleo, and stubbs were all there.

"look what the cat done dragged in." he mumbled once he had seen the three teens. he smiled when he had seen the dried blood on coby's face.

"i have a proposition." sarah told him.

"if it involves giving you that rock back, that nugget, forget it. you're lucky i'm not on the phone with the cops right now." terrance said, his words slurring.

"i'm not worried about that, because you saw what was in that safe, did you not?" sarah shot back.

"yeah, i did." the drunk man answered.

"and it was exactly what we told you it was gonna be. right?" sarah asked him.

"yeah, well, that thing's locked down tighter than a clamshell now." cleo pointed out.

"no shit. but the gold's not staying there." sarah informed. "my dad's gonna come down and move it. he'll have to."

"so what are you proposing, a brink's job?" terrance questioned.

"think about it. you have a boat that can get us away. you know people and the island, and i can find out exactly when that gold is moving. and i'll give you two million." sarah explained.

"so let me get this straight." terrance started. "we take the risk of going to jail and getting shot for a fraction of what's in that safe."

"after you abandoned us? stole my boat? almost broke my girlfriend's nose? i don't owe you shit. but i'll give you ten." sarah shrugged, earning a loving look from coby.

"ten million apiece." cleo corrected.

"i like that. ten apiece." terrance agreed, pointing to the younger girl.

"apiece?" john b repeated, obviously not liking that.

"that's complete bullshit." coby added, her face twisting into a look of anger.

"jake." sarah called sternly, making the taller girl shut her mouth. "ten million apiece."

"ten million dollars. we're just throwing money away." john b chimed in, looking around at everyone on the boat.

terrance stepped forward, holding his hand out for sarah to shake. "you have yourself a deal, sweetheart." with that, sarah took ahold of his hand, the both of them shaking on it. terrance turned to look at coby with a smile, seeing that she was glaring at him. "you got yourself a feisty one."

coby stepped forward, her blood starting to boil immediately. sarah and john b quickly grabbed her, pushing her off the boat and away from terrance so she wouldn't do anything. tomorrow was gonna be a long day.

"we're on." sarah confirmed.

coby nodded, actually starting to process that they were willingly about to rob an extremely powerful man. and she knows that he deserves it, but the thought of doing it made her anxious. she hadn't done something like that in basically a year. . . not including the money she took from barry. "okay. i guess we're doing this. i mean, armed robbery. i mean, i'm cool with it, i've stolen shit before. but are you sure?"

"my entire life, ward has always gotten what he's wanted. everyone jumps for him. and i thought it was respect, but now i realize that's fear. and jake. . ." sarah started, stepping forward to where coby was sitting. she sat down in front of her, making the curly haired girl look at her. "you know the only people who never jumped for him was john b's dad and your brother. they weren't like anyone i had ever met because they weren't scared of my dad. this is for the both of them, sheriff pete, deputy smith, and john b. and you and me."

coby smiled at her girlfriend, nodding her head slightly. "thanks, cupcake."

"how do you feel? do you still feel light headed?" sarah quizzed, seeing how coby's nose was bruised from terrance hitting her with the gun.

"no, i feel a lot better. my nose just hurts." coby answered, scrunching her nose slightly, a wave of pain going through it. "ow. i don't know why i did."

sarah giggled at that, shaking her head at the taller girl. "i love you."

coby smiled at that, feeling her heart swell in her chest. "i love you, too, cupcake."

"are you two done? they wanna go over the plan." the voice of john b appeared, making the girls turn to look at him.

"yeah." coby nodded as her and sarah stood up. "let's home this goes as planned."

once everyone else was in their positions, stubbs called the phones that terrance had given them. "they got a truck and two defenders." stubbs informed.

"but just my dad in the truck with the gold, right?" sarah questioned.

"it's two in the truck." stubbs answered, making coby and john b share a look.

"two?" john b asked, taking his eyes away from coby and putting them onto sarah.

"rafe." sarah mumbled.

"shit." coby hissed out.

"two defenders, front and back." stubbs voice appeared again.

"are they armed?" coby asked.

"to the teeth." stubbs replied.

"pistols?" terrance's voice rang through the speaker.

"aks." stubbs corrected.

"shit's about to be hot." terrance mumbled just as john b checked the magazine of his gun to make sure it was loaded.

"you don't think we'll actually have to use that, right?" coby asked the routledge boy, her stomach churning from anxiety.

"just in case." john b told her. the sawyer girl nodded, having a bad feeling take over her. but instead of voicing how she felt, she kept her mouth shut, looking down at the ground.

silence fell over the trio as they waited for one of the kids back in town to text them. cleo had bribed a group of kids into slowing the security down by throwing flower and other shit at them so that ward would have to go on by himself. the sound of the phone chiming echoed through the air, making the three teens look down at the phone that was now in john b's hands. it said that they just made it over the bridge, which meant that the plan was officially in motion. a few minutes later, terrance and cleo were setting up to block the road coby, john b, and sarah all had their bandanas hiding their faces, hiding behind an old structure.

"here we go." coby mumbled when she had seen the truck coming down the road, having a clear view of ward and rafe. she felt sarah interlace their fingers together, squeezing her hand slightly to bring some sort of comfort.

they watched as ward and rafe came to a stop, terrance and cleo walking up to either side to tell them whatever lie they had came up with. coby wasn't able to hear what was being said, but sooner than later, terrance pulled his gun out on ward and cleo placed her signature knife up to rafe's throat. they guided the two cameron men out of the truck and over to the signs that were blocking the road, the four of them being in earshot.

"you'll put those signs on the side for me. you go to that sign. you go to that sign." terrance instructed, his gun now being aimed to the back of ward's head. cleo still had her knife to rafe's throat. "move the damn sign." ward did as told, terrance turning to rafe when he didn't move. "you too, buddy. put it on the side of the road."

"right over there." cleo added, rafe picking the sign up and throwing it to the side.

"go to the barrel. put the barrel to the side of the road. put the barrels on the side." terrance told him, pressing the gun to the back of ward's head. the bearded man decided to throw the barrel, which terrance didn't like. "throw another barrel, and i'll blow your damn head off. take two steps back. easy! get on your knees!"

"on the ground." cleo told rafe. "come on!" she yelled when the taller boy didn't make a move.

"put your hands up." terrance continued.

"who are you?" ward question as he did what he was told.

"kiss the ground." terrance ordered.

"who are you?!" ward repeated.

"i am the royal commission for the redistribution of wealth. kiss the ground." terrance answered, pressing the gun more into ward's head. the cameron man did as told, going onto his stomach.

"you guys are idiots. our escorts are right behind us." rafe decided to inform, still on his knees.

"a wise guy, huh?" cleo smiled, her knife still to his throat.

"okay, it's time to go." john b breathed out, looking at the two girls next to him.

"go! go! hurry!" terrance yelled, the three teens doing as told. they ran over to the truck, bandanas still covering their faces as they did so. "go! hurry! hurry!"

"sarah? sarah! you're alive!" ward suddenly called, making the three pogues turn around. sarah's bandana coincidentally slipped off her face just as she turned. "baby! you're alive!" ward started to cry, standing up from the ground with a teary smile.

"hey! don't talk to her! stay down!" cleo demanded.

"stay back." john b mumbled, holding his hand out as he looked at ward.

"hey! stay down!" cleo yelled.

"sarah! you're alive!" ward exclaimed, his voice breaking.

"do not talk to her!" cleo spat as she pulled away from rafe and walked over to the cameron man.

"i love you, baby! i love you, baby! i can't believe it!" ward shouted, trying to make a run over to his daughter. terrance quickly grabbed ahold of his shirt to stop him from moving, still aiming the gun at his head.

john b reluctantly pulled the gun from out of his bag, holding it up and aiming it at ward. "stay back."

"no! no, no!" terrance yelled at john b, trying his hardest to hold ward back.

"stay right there! stop!" john b demanded.

"hey!" rafe jumped in, coby being the first one to see that he had pulled out a gun of his own. the sawyer girl immediately stood in front of sarah, just in case rafe had pulled the trigger.

but the next few seconds felt like it went in slow motion; rafe did pull the trigger but cleo was quick to slap the gun away from being aimed at the three pogues. the sound of a gun shot echoed through the air, making coby's heart dropped as she stumbled back slightly. and then suddenly, time sped back up again. cleo had gotten the gun out of rafe's hand and terrance had pistol whipped ward in the back of the head.

"go on! get out of here! go!" terrance shouted at the three teens.

"we gotta go." john b told the two girls behind him before he ran over to the driver's side.

"go! hurry!" terrance yelled as he watched the trio climb inside the truck.

"sarah!" ward cried out as john b started the truck.

"you're a coward!" rafe spat, john b pulling off and driving past him. the routledge boy quickly stuck his middle finger up at rafe.

"shit! they're coming!" john b informed the girls, referring to the security that had originally been with ward and rafe. john b quickly changed gears in hopes that they would go faster. "come on. come on. come on. come on. it's too heavy. it's too heavy, guys. the gold's weighing us down."

"is there any way to make this thing go faster?" sarah questioned, being squished between coby and john b while she looked back to see how close the security was.

"i'm going as fast as this hunk of shit can go." john b reasoned.

"what do we do?" coby asked, looking through the side mirror in panic. she could feel a dull ache from somewhere in her, but she couldn't pin point where exactly.

"i don't know!" john b yelled. "hold on, all right?!"

"what?" sarah asked, not knowing what he meant by that.

before anyone else could say anything, john b changed gears again before he made a sharp right turn onto a dirt road. coby was quick to place her hands on the roof of the truck to steady herself, feeling the truck tilt to the left due to the weigh of the gold. the truck then landed on all four roads, john b making a left turn into the field of tall grass. he continued to drive, the girls letting out sighs of relief when they realized that they were no longer being followed. john b didn't stop until they were completely hidden. coby pulled her hands away from the roof of the truck, that dull ache becoming stronger and stronger as the adrenaline started to vanish.

john b turned to look through the back window, realization hitting him. "guys. guys, we got the gold. guys we did it. we did it. oh, my god."

"holy shit! holy shit! we did it!" sarah exclaimed, a smile pulling at her lips as she looked over to john b. the two then looked over to where coby was sitting, noticing how quiet she was.

the curly haired girl had her eyebrows furrowed as she lifted up taylor's crewneck sweater she was wearing, suddenly knowing where the pain was coming from. she felt warm liquid graze the tips of her fingers before she pulled away, revealing her crimson stained fingers. a whimper left her mouth, "i'm shot."

daij speaks!
we love leaving shit off on a cliffhanger. this has been the plan from the get go, and it's safe to say that i'm glad with my decision. i said that coby was gonna go through a bunch of shit this season, and this is the beginning of said shit.

anyways, i hope u guys enjoyed this chapter ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿผ
