"Take it easy." Robby spoke as he stopped infront of Alexa, grasping her wrist. "You're blocking too hard, like you're trying to punch."
"Is that not the point?" she yanked her wrist from his hands. "No one's gonna be scared of a few blocks."
Robby showed her the motion again. "Tighten your wrist, not your fist."
Alexa wanted to argue, but she nodded, repeating the motion as Robby walked down the rows. "These blocks are incredibly precise. Each one is designed to overcome a specific attack."
Alexa looked down the line to see Robby standing infront of Tory. "Show me wax on, wax off."
Tory took her stance, practicing with Robby as she showed what he taught, blocking him with the wax on movement. Alexa huffed slightly, still wondering why Robby hadn't once tried to use her as an example. "The more you learn Miyagi-Do, the tougher you are to defeat."
"Except for one tiny flaw." Kreese spoke up, making them look his way. "Their entire style is reactive, which means all their moves are counter moves. That means that we are in control. And we can use that to set traps."
Robby turned to Tory again. "Show me paint the fence."
Tory did so, Robby knocking her feet out from under her soon after. "Sorry. Just part of the lesson."
Tory grasped his arm, throwing him over her shoulder before holding her fist above his face.
"Enough!" Kreese called to stop her. "Nichols, my office. Continue the lesson."
Robby shoved Tory off him as she got up, following Kreese to the office. Alexa walked toward Robby. "Why don't you ever ask me?"
"What?" he looked oddly her way, adjusting his gi.
"You only ever use Tory as an example. I know it, I can take some of the embarrassment off her." Alexa said confidently.
Robby gave a minor grin. "I know. But, you need to take it easy."
"My nose will be healed in two weeks." Alexa pointed out with a nod of her head. "It doesn't even hurt that much any more."
"Not your nose, your concussion." Robby corrected her with a knowing look. "In a week, I won't go so easy on you."
Alexa huffed. She wanted to show Robby she was ready, throwing her knee upwards to his abdomen. Robby stumbled backward at her hit, but grasping her wrist when she went to hit him. They went down in the mattress again, Robby having her wrist above her head. "What was that?"
"Trying to show you that i'm r-" Alexa began, stopping mid sentence as her face paled and she looked panicky.
"Gonna be sick?" Robby asked, making Alexa nod. He got off her. "This is why you wait."
"You need to focus." Robby made Alexa groaned as she fell onto the bed. "Where's your head?"
"Germany." she huffed, sitting up again. "I'm not gonna be ready by Friday."
"Yes, you will." he gave her a knowing look, dropping the cards. "What's going on with you?"
"Nothing." Alexa rolled her eyes.
"Doesn't seem like nothing." he argued with her, making Alexa look in disbelief. "You thinking about the fight at the LaRussos?"
"Hard not to think about it." Alexa motioned toward her face. "Doesn't matter."
"Did you cry because it hurt?" Robby asked, causing a frown of her eyebrows to form. "Or were you upset?"
"It's not any of your business." Alexa shot back defensively. "My concussion just got to me, that's all."
"It clearly is if you can't stay focused because of it." Robby held the flash cards up. "Where are you parents?"
"It's non of your business." Alexa repeated in anger, getting off her bed.
"Where are you going?" Robby looked in disbelief as she grabbed her karate bag. "Your magnetic field?"
Alexa turned to him with an angered look. "What exactly are you getting at here? It's exhausting!"
"Because I know you're smart, and I know that you have the ability to learn this stuff." Robby held the flash cards up, getting off the bed as well. "Your heads just too distracted to stay focused, that's why you're failing."
Alexa took a breath, staring at him with a tight jaw. "You don't know shit."
She slammed her bedroom door, storming through the apartment to leave.
"Mr.Keene." Kreese spoke up the next day, breaking Robby away from training with Tory. "You have a visitor."
Alexa looked over to see a smaller boy standing infront of Kreese. Tory looked at Robby. "You know this kid?"
"I-I-I'm Kenny." he stumbled over his words, Alexa tilted her head as she watched from the mats. "My brother, Shawn Payne, said you could help me."
"I didn't know Shawn had a brother." Robby walked forward with curious eyes. "Is he out?"
"No. That's why i'm here." Kenny said back, one of his shoulders slummed to the side from how he was holding his bag. "These a-holes keep hassling me. One of them knows karate, so-"
"This is a dojo." Kreese cut him off, catching his attention again. "You are interrupting my class."
"I'm sorry. I didn't know." Kenny looked in a minor panic.
"Sensei." Robby spoke up to have Kreese look over. "Shawn Payne was one of the toughest guys in juvie. Kicked my ass a few times."
Alexa came to Robbys side, elbowing him in the side. "This kids gonna get hurt."
"You know, in the real world, we have to fight our own battles." Kreese looked to Kenny again. "Cobra Kai can teach you how. But you have to prove that you're worthy."
"How do I do that?" Kenny looked up at him gentle.
"Take your shoes off and get on the mat." Kreese encouraged quickly. Alexa winced slightly, looking toward Robby as he waved her off slightly.
"How-How am I suppose to fight if I haven't had any training yet?" Kenny looked in a panic as he stood on the mat, Kyler stretching infront of him.
"To be a Cobra Kai, you have to have a killer instinct." Kreese spoke his way with a minor nod. Kyler popped his neck.
"Seriously." Alexa elbowed Robby again. "Get him out of here."
Robby pulled a look. "You getting soft on me, Castillo?"
"No." she slapped him harshly in the arm.
"Fighting position." Kreese encouraged loudly.
"Don't worry, man. I'll go easy on you." Kyler cracked a grin, holding his fist infront of him as Kenny mimicked his position.
"Ais!" Kreese yelled as Kyler went toward Kenny, the small boy giving a squeal as he back up. The dojo laughed at him.
"Come back on the mat. Grow some pubes. Let's go." Kyler laughed, encouraging him back on. Robby and Alexa shared a look, and apart of him wondered why she didn't find this funny like the rest seemed to.
"It's all right, Mr.Payne." Kreese spoke as Kenny got back on the mat. "Try again. Ais!"
Kyler went toward Kenny again, the small boy backing off the mat once again with a minor yell. Kreese nodded. "All right, i've seen enough."
"Yeah, me too." Kyler chuckled.
"What's so funny?" Kreese stopped the dojo from laugher at his sudden snap. "The All Valleys just a few short months away. We don't have time for losers or cowards."
Kenny took a sad breath, walking off the mat to leave.
"You want some of my curly fries?" Alexa asked Robby as they walked down the road. Robby reached over and took one from her bag. "How do you even know where this kid lives?"
"You didn't have to come." Robby pointed out at the tone she had. "You're the one that followed me."
"I feel bad for the kid." Alexa shrugged in return. "Reminds me of someone I use to know."
"Who?" Robby asked as they went up the side of the drive way.
Me.
