"I wish I could stay longer but I gotta go watch my girlfriend win a gold medal," Kez signed the last t-shirt of a fan, her security around her ready to lead her out of the stadium so she could make her flight to Paris. "Girlfriend?!" Her fans immediately bombarded her with questions but she just smiled and waved them off as her security led her away. She climbed into the car where Mari was waiting and they drove off.

"You think we will get there on time?" Kamari asked, speaking in Xhosa.

"We will. Just make sure you get some rest on the plane cause we won't have much time to sleep when we get there," Kez responded, pulling on a cardigan to keep herself warm. "Mum, did you say you had a girlfriend? It's spreading all over Twitter." Kamari said. "That was fast," Kez mumbled, laying down on the seats boredly, still a bit exhausted from the concert. Normally she'd never leave a concert so fast because she found it rude, but she refused to miss her girlfriend's game.

"Now everyone's trying to guess who it is," Kamari snickered, loving that she knew what they didn't.

"Who are the guesses?" Kez asked out of curiosity, wondering how well her fans knew her. Kamari giggled to herself, "it looks like a draw between Kahleah and Kelsey and someone said it's probably a girl from the France team. Everyone's arguing, it's so funny. There's so much evidence with you and Kelsey though so I don't understand how they're not figuring it out."

"It's called denial," Kez hummed, grabbing a water bottle on side of the door to soothe her throat. She was really beginning to regret hitting those high notes tonight. "How did they even come up with Kah though?" Kez pondered. "All because you hugged her after your concert in Phoenix," Mari answered, munching on some snacks as she scrolled through her social media.

"That makes no sense. I hugged the whole team, even Diana." Kez pointed out. "Ah, I found more evidence! They got pics of you and Kah hanging out after the show with terribly good angles that make it look real suspicious. There's a whole thread on it." Mari added, tossing her mum the phone so she could see for herself. "Oh, I remember that. She was helping me pick out a bracelet for Kels."

"Does Kelsey know that?" Mari asked, taking the phone back with a concerned look.

"...no," Kez winced in realization, sinking back into the seats.

"Mum, I love you, but yoh you're communication skills need work," Kamari stated with judging eyes. Kez rolled her eyes, putting a cap over her face to blind the lights. "Talk to me when you actually get a girlfriend. Otherwise, you have no room to speak."

"Mum! That's so unfair! You know I'm bad at talking to girls!"

"I'll pick you up tomorrow at noon. Make sure you're ready before then. Love you, Nomsa." Kez said, blowing her daughter a kiss. "Love you too, mums. Goodnight." Kamari waved her hand before she walked into the hotel with her bodyguard Jamie pulling her bags along.

She drove down to the Olympic Village next where all the athletes stayed, and they always let her in funnily enough. It wasn't her first time there because she and Lewis did come to see their close friend Miles compete for a bronze medal. He didn't win, but he still did a good job and they were very proud. She just used the spouse card to get inside the first time.

She picked up her duffle bag and walked into the building, deciding to just use the elevator because stairs was just extra work she didn't need to put in. The concert was a workout enough and that said a lot because Kez genuinely loved to workout. The village definitely reminded her of high school when she lived in the dormitory. She didn't exactly have the best memories from that time.

She gently knocked against the familiar door, really hoping her girlfriend was awake to answer it. After a few more knocks, the door was pulled open and Kelsey let out a sigh of relief. "I almost thought you weren't gonna make it," she said, pulling open the door wider and taking her hand to pull her inside. "I'm never one to break a promise," Kez shrugged, setting her bag down to the side.

"Before I hug you, I want you to explain those pictures with Kahleah. She told me I had to ask you cause she couldn't say anything." Kelsey spoke, shutting the door and locking it. "Okay, those were taken completely out of context. It was not like that," Kez defended. Kelsey put her hands up, almost offended that she thought that she'd accuse her of cheating. "Slow down, I didn't think it was like that. I trust you. I'm just wondering why you never mentioned it when you always tell me who you're hanging out with."

"I really would love to tell you but that would ruin the surprise and I can't do that. Just trust me, okay?" Kez said softly, taking her hands to bring her closer. Her eyes softened as she moved closer to her, "I trust you." Kez smiled warmly, leaning down to bring their lips together in a much needed kiss.

Kez squinted in confusion, moving her hands up to cup her face, "why are you awake? I told you not to wait up for me. You need your sleep, baby." Kelsey shrugged nonchalantly, "I couldn't sleep." Kez scoffed, and Kels let out a small yelp as she lifted her over her shoulder like a sack of potatoes. "You are such a shit liar. I told you no waiting up for me. You have the most important game of your career and you need your beauty rest."

"You sound like your mom!" Kelsey retorts, smacking her in the back so she'd release her but that just proved to be useless.

"My mum is smart woman so shouldn't that say a lot?" Kez scoffed, dropping her onto the bed and pulling the covers over her. "Where are you going?" Kelsey frowned, throwing them back off but Kez just pushed them back on and climbed over her to hold them down. "I'm leaving because clearly I'm a distraction. Go to sleep."

"You're not going anywhere. I will lock you in the closet. I'm so serious." Kelsey stated firmly even though she couldn't move with Kez holding the covers over her. "You will lock me in the closet? You? The one who cannot move? That's really adorable. I would love to see you try." Kez mocked as her accent grew thicker. "Go to sleep, and I will see you at the game."

She got off of her and went to switch off the lights but Kelsey grabbed onto her arms and pulled her onto the bed, quickly jumping over to restrain her and she knew Kez would never try to fight against her even if she was stronger. "You are not leaving, I don't care if I have to handcuff you to the bed. I was waiting for you because I literally cannot sleep without you. You're not a distraction. I just want you to hold me, okay? Is that too much to ask?"

"No, it's not...but you're knee is like digging into my hip bone so can you like..?" Kelsey winced apologetically, climbing off of her, "sorry." Kez chuckled softly and Kelsey rubbed her hip with an apologetic smile. "I will hold you as soon as I take a shower cause I really desperately need one after a three hour concert and plane ride." She said, getting up and pulling the hair tie out of her long curls.

"You smell really good for someone who's been sweating," Kelsey comments.

"I love getting that compliment," Kez smiled, blowing her a kiss before heading towards the bathroom.

After a much needed hot and cold shower, she climbed into bed with her half asleep girlfriend. Kelsey practically climbed on top of her, burying her face into her neck. "Can you sing me a song?" She requested softly, sighing as Kezie's hands rubbed her exposed skin with the perfect gentleness. "Which song?" She asked, pressing a kiss to her shoulder with a small smile.

"3:16AM."

"No, no, I have reserved seats in the front. I don't understand your confusion," Kez spoke with a bit of impatience in her semi-calm tone. They continued to go back and forth and it was getting absolutely nowhere. "Hey! Kez, come on! She's with me!" Bam- A'ja's boyfriend waved her over, and Kamari was quick to move past her mum and walk over to the basketball player. "This is why I don't like France," Kez mumbled, walking past the worker.

"Thank you. I don't know why I always have trouble here. I literally speak French." Kez said, shaking hands with him. "Yeah, it's no problem. A'ja said y'all sitting next me. She had me make sure of it." Bam replied, making sure Kamari was in front of them so she didn't get lost in the crowds of people. "That sounds just like her," Kez chuckled.

"How cute, y'all should do a double date," Kamari snickered, nudging their arms teasingly.

"No," they both stated simultaneously.

"Jeez, why so serious, yoh? Don't y'all know what fun is?" Kamari scoffed with a judgemental look on her face.

Kez rolled her eyes, "this is why she's still single."

"It is by choice!" Mari argued in her defense, hitting her mum's shoulder but the woman was unfazed. "No it isn't."

They got to their seats and now it was just time to wait for it to start. Mari took her mum's hand upon realizing how it was shaking with nerves. She smiled when she realized she was wearing Kelsey's ring for her. They did that every time Kez went to a game. She'd wear the ring and at the end of the game when they won, she'd give it back after a kiss. It was a cute little thing they did. She enjoyed seeing her mother so in love, especially after denying herself that type of love for so long.

All the players for each team was announced, France walked out to the court after USA and they both turned for the national anthems. Kamari smirked, realizing she was technically half American through her biological father. Kez just shot her a look as she raised her hand over her heart with an amused giggle. "Feeling very patriotic today," she joked.

"Of course you are," Kez mumbled, sitting back down as soon as they ended. The starting line up for each team was announced. For USA it was, Chelsea Gray, Jackie Young, Napheesa Collier, Breanna Stewart, and A'ja Wilson. For France it was, Marine Fauthoux, Valeriane Ayayi, Gabby Williams, Janelle Salaun, and Marieme Badiane.

"Paige is so jealous right now," Mari said, taking a picture of the court to send to the group chat. "She'll probably be playing in the next Olympics," Kez comments, watching as the game started. "So will I," Kamari added confidently.

The game was very entertaining to say the least. Keziyah was very stressed out but she always was watching sports. It was just far more amplified now that there was gold on the line. The scores were nothing short of far, they were the closest scores Kez had seen. It was an extremely close game. It was almost as though Kelsey could feel her girlfriend's nerves from across the court, so she made sure to smile before shooting some of the free throws because the camera would be on her. She hoped it brought Kez some kind of relief.

But the second that buzzer went off is when she took a sigh of relief. The game was far too close to her liking but USA got it done. They won gold. Kelsey won gold. It almost didn't feel real. Kamari hugged onto her excitedly, pulling her from almost a dazed state. "You have the coolest girlfriend ever, I'm not even joking! She's fucking awesome!" Mari exclaimed, shaking her mum who was a bit lost staring at Kelsey on the court. Even through all the cameras and people, she could still find her.

"I can't wait to brag about this," Mari mumbled, pulling out her phone so she could record her mum's reaction. She quickly went into her insta and went on live, switching the camera to point at her mum. "Y'all look, she so in love," she giggled mischievously. "Yes, I can confirm she will be writing a song about this," Mari spoke to answer a comment, causing Kez to raise the middle finger at the camera.

After the players all shook hands or high fived, they each made their way to their families or friends. Kez was impatient so she moved through everyone to get to her, also clearing a path for Mari to follow her. Kelsey found her and ran towards her, jumping into her arms, almost tackling her down. Kez didn't hesitate to bring her into a kiss, not giving the cameras filming them a second thought. "Talk about hard launch," Mari mumbled, moving her phone off of them because she wasn't about to film her mom kissing.

"I'm so proud of you. I love you so much," Kez spoke, pressing a peck to her lips.

"I love you too," Kelsey smiled, pulling her into another kiss because one wasn't cutting it. She wasn't surprised Kez kissed her on camera cause she had been talking about not wanting to keep it a secret much longer. Kez let her go so she could stand back on her feet. "You have something that belongs to me," Kelsey said and Kez smiled, pulling the ring off her hand. She pushed it back onto Kelsey's finger and then reached into her pocket to pull out a shiny silver bracelet with the Olympic rings on it to match Kelsey's favorite necklace. "Kez, oh, my God, you didn't have to get me anything."

"Have you met me?" Kez deadpanned, taking her wrist to put the bracelet on her. "I love it so much. Thank you." Kelsey smiled brightly, bringing her back into an embrace.

"What am I? Leftover kimchi?" Kamari expressed incredulously. The two laughed at her expression and Kelsey let go of Kez to hug Mari. "Thank you. It's about time. I'm running on monster energy for you," she added. "Thank you for sacrificing your beauty sleep," Kelsey replied sarcastically but Mari didn't catch the sarcasm and smiled gleefully, "you are so welcome."

"I want another hug, come here," Kelsey pulled Kez back up from her chair to tug her back into an embrace. "They're giving that one Taylor song, y'all," Mari mumbled, still on insta live, giggling as KK and Paige were trying to join it. "Nope. Y'all can't join. And don't worry Paigey, I'll guide you through this heartbreak like the amazing friend I am," Mari spoke, laughing when she got a text from Paige who was most likely sending empty threats.

When Kelsey went off to see Sue and everyone else, they went back to their seats and a lot of the players came over to shake hands or share a hug with Keziyah. Mari subtlety captured A'ja and Bam's handshake. They were terribly bad at keeping the relationship a secret and she found it adorable. "Look how much he's cheesin' y'all," Mari mumbled, causing Bam to shoot her a side eye.

"Kamari, don't make me take that phone away," Kez stated sternly.

"Shit, sorry," Mari winced, moving the camera to the court, zooming in on Gabby Williams. "What is LeBron like? Uhh, he is tall," Mari answered to a question she read. "Does my mum know Aristotle? Yes, obviously. She's a huge nerd. She won't admit it though. But Kelsey teases her about it all the time." Mari snickered, causing Kez to shoot her a glare. "Stop tellin' all my business before I take your card."

"Okay no more questions about my mum. Ain't nobody tryna pay for their own stuff these days," Mari mumbled, sitting down as she waited for them to give out all the medals and such. "Sydney Colson stop asking to join," she scowled, hitting the button to decline it. "She's gonna keep asking until you let her," Kez added knowingly and Sydney's account popped up again.

"Syd...I swear you gonna catch these hands," Mari grumbled, hitting the button to invite her on the live. It loaded for a bit and then Sydney popped up on the screen. "Put your mom on! Why was I not informed y'all were gonna hard launch?" Mari chuckled as she handed the phone to her mom. "Cause you got a big mouth, kinda defeats the purpose of a hard launch," Kez retorts. "Wow! I thought we were friends. I thought we had an understanding."

"Why don't you worry about your own relationship? If you have one, that is." Kez shot back swiftly, causing Mari to snicker in amusement. "Give Mari the phone back. I don't even wanna look at you." Syd scowled, and Kez rolled her eyes at the dramatics, handing the phone back to Kamari. "That was so rude. I'ma make her apologize when we get back. Don't worry, I got you," Mari said, and Kez just gave her a look.

Kez just stared up at the ceiling boredly as Mari and Syd went back in forth talking about the game. They were the kinda pairing nobody wanted on the same team. Just two unserious basketball players who joked around and played pranks on everybody. "I know right?! Mum looked like she wanted to jump in every time France scored."

"Liar," Kez scoffed.

"Did you seriously spend 4k on a bracelet? When did you even have time to buy it?" Kamari smiled, sitting up on her bed to explain. "You see, I woke up early today and went to the jewelry store like a block away. The bracelet was actually 5k but she gave me a discount because she liked by purse. It's really cute. Paige is gonna love it."

"Right, and you couldn't have bought her a bracelet with your own money?" Keziyah deadpanned.

"Well..yes, but I've only just became a millionaire and you said I shouldn't spend my money irresponsibly," Kamari said knowingly as she adjusted her bonnet. "So you decide to spend my money irresponsibly?" Kamari smiled and nodded at her words, "yes, because you are a billionaire. And by the way, where do you think I got the irresponsible spending from? You literally never ever let Kelsey spend a dime of her money, and you buy her so much gifts it's hard to even keep up. You may as well just marry her."

"Marry her? Seriously? You're okay with that?" Kez scoffed, staring at her daughter in disbelief, not even thinking about the money thing anymore.

"Why wouldn't I be okay with that? Kelsey is amazing. She's perfect for you. Kaidyn secretly loves her. Whenever you pop the question, everyone will support it, except maybe Dad but he's irrelevant to your love life so who cares for his opinion." Mari spoke, tugging the covers over her to get comfortable. "Alright, that's enough talk about my love life. Get some rest." Kez walked over to the lights and hit the switch.

"Can I sleep in for two extra hours? Please? I'm really tired." Mari pleaded desperately.

"Fine, just two. Goodnight, Nomsa." Kez leaned down and pressed a kiss to her forehead. "Goodnight, Mum."

She walked out and shut the door behind her before heading down to the kitchen in the hotel suite. She sat on the stool as she waited for her coffee to finish. She picked up her phone on the counter, her eyes grazing over the many notifications she had. She didn't really go on social media unless Mari told her to, but she did scroll through Instagram on occasion. She smiled at the first post that popped up. It was Kelsey and she literally made a whole separate post just for Kez. She puts tons of pictures of them together, including a lot of pictures she just randomly took of Kez and added the sweetest caption.

Just to amuse herself, she clicked on the comments, obviously seeing lots of wbb players commenting but she wanted to see the fan comments. Lots of them from the men consisted of the 'thought she was straight' or 'we lost another one' or the funny ally ones like 'kez wasn't joking when she said she could steal your wife' or 'she said she could turn a straight girl gay and we laughed ๐Ÿ’”' and the occasional 'Darren fumbled'...which he did.

She left her own comment before logging off and shutting off her phone, deciding she'd just answer everyone's calls and texts tomorrow.

She poured herself some more coffee and went to take a sip but the door being knocked on was enough to draw her attention. She expected it to be room service because Mari always ordered food and forgot about it. She grabbed her phone and walked down to the door, unlocking it and pulling it open. "Bonjour, mon amour," Kelsey smiled, letting herself in.

"Bonjour, ma chรฉrie. Voulez-vous m'expliquer pourquoi vous รชtes ici et non au village?" Kez spoke, shutting the door behind her, following Kels who was already making her way to the kitchen. "Okay, slow down, my French isn't that good," Kelsey said, not surprised that Kez was full on fluent in a random language. It was funny given she didn't like France very much but still learned how to speak the language.

"What are you doing here? You're supposed to be at the village." Kez spoke, her brows furrowed in confusion as Kelsey set down some bags on the counter. "Remember when you used to buy a cheeseburger and fries after every game you went to but I always had to finish it for you?" She pondered, pulling out cheeseburger and some fries from a bag.

"You're avoiding the question," Kez deadpanned.

"I just won a gold medal. Why would I spend my night alone when I could be with my smoking hot future wife?" Kelsey shot back, making a pretty good point and she knew it. Kez hummed, walking around the kitchen island and setting her hands on her waist, "good point, but have you forgotten that you need to catch a bus tomorrow morning and all your stuff is at the village?"

"I remember. And you're gonna drive me there tomorrow, aren't you?" Kelsey turned to look at her, smiling as she knew she wouldn't be able to say no to her. "I can wake up early, yeah," Kez nodded, and Kelsey pressed a peck to her lips as a thank you. "Is Mari up? I got her a cinnamon roll."

"Give it about five more seconds." Kez sighed, and in five seconds exactly, Mari entered the kitchen with a grin. "Bonjour, my mother's amazing girlfriend. I smell a cinnamon roll," Mari spoke, pushing her mother to the side to bring Kelsey into a hug. "I could only get you one cause your mom said you couldn't have more than that."

"Cause she won't stop eating them until she throws up," Kez muttered, grabbing a fork.

"Can you warm me some milk, Mum?" Kamari requested, choosing to ignore the accusation. She went to say no but Kelsey shot her a look and she found herself grabbing some milk in the small fridge. Mari grabbed the cinnamon roll and the fork from her mum's hand. "Kels, where's your medal?" She queried. Kelsey smiled, pulling out the medal from under her- correction Kezie's sweater that she stole from her suitcase. "Right here. I'm gonna give it to my mom though cause she'll keep it safer than me."

"That's smart. Just like how Mum gives all her Grammy's to my grandma." Mari said, taking a seat on the stool as she waited for her milk so she could return to her room. "She gets all the important ones," Kez added. "I wonder what people say when they walk into your mom's house and see a case of Grammy's," Kelsey pondered.

"That's if she has time to have people over. That woman does not know what retirement means." Kez mumbled, sliding the glass of milk over to her daughter. "Sounds like our entire family including Lewis," Mari snickered, taking her drink and cinnamon roll before sliding off the stool.

"Mhm, finish that and go back to sleep." Mari rolled her eyes at her mum's words, and sent a smile to Kelsey, "goodnight. I would love if you could convince Mum to buy me a car." She winked playfully at the two before making her exit, snickering at the dry laughs from her mother.

"The answer is no if you're gonna ask," Kez smiled, leaning against the counter. Kelsey shrugged, "I wasn't, cause even I know that girl does not belong on city streets yet." They laughed softly, both in agreement on the car. "I think getting her a car would be a crime against humanity," she added, bringing them into more uncontrollable laughter.

Kez exhaled, catching her breath from all the laughing. "I have a question for you." Kelsey perked up as she unwrapped her burger, "as long as it isn't bad."

"Hypothetically, how would you feel about marriage? Is it an option for you anymore? I can understand if it isn't cause nobody really likes doing it a 2nd time. I certainly didn't like the idea until..." she trailed off nervously, subconsciously rubbing her knuckles a bit harshly. Kelsey smiled softly, the topic being something she always wanted to bring up. "I wasn't sure aboutย  it either. It wasn't an option for me, until you finally asked me to be your girlfriend is when I knew I was willing to try it again. Why do you ask?"

"Oh, uh, yeah I was just curious cause we hadn't really brought up the topic before. Just wanted to make sure we were on the same page." Kez spoke, awkwardly rubbing her neck which Kelsey always found really cute. She liked how nervous and awkward Kez could get when she was flustered. Kelsey hummed, softly tilting her head, "hmm, and are we- on the same page that is?"

"Yes! I mean- yeah, of course we are." Kez chuckled awkwardly, reaching for some fries to shove in her mouth before she rambled uncontrollably.

Kelsey brushed her hands off and reached for the seams of her sweater to pull it off. "Can we switch? This is losing it's smell," she mumbled, pulling it over her head. "Smell?" Kez pondered in confusion as she tugged off her cardigan. "Yeah, I took it because it smelled like you and now it doesn't anymore. It smells like cigars and champagne." She explained.

"How sweet," she chuckled, passing the cardigan to her outstretched hand. Kelsey took it with a smile and pulled it on, gently pushing her hair out. "That's better. It smells like you."

Kez hummed quietly, staring at the gold around her girlfriend's neck. "Baby, why are you still wearing it? You were just with your mum, so why wouldn't you just give it to her like you said?" Kelsey paused, taking a minute to chew the rest of her food before going to answer. "Uhh, I forgot..?"

"Shit liar," Kez scoffed in disbelief, throwing a fry at her.

"What?! I'm not lying! I just forgot to take it off," Kelsey defended weakly.

Kez squints, eyes filled with suspicion as she walked around the table, Kelsey nervously trying to avoid eye contact. Kez turned the stool around and placed her hands on her thighs, a knowing glint in her eye, "we are not having sex with a gold medal around your neck."

Kelsey smirked, leaning forward to get closer, "yes, we are."
