"Okay, before we go in, we need to set some boundaries, Mama."

Keziyah furrowed her brows in confusion, turning to look at her daughter who sat in the backseat. "What do you mean? What boundaries?" She questioned, and Lewis just snickered as he scrolled through his phone in the passenger seat. "You know what I mean! No flirting with any of the players on either team! I have a reputation to uphold!" Kamari explained in a very serious tone.

"What reputation? You're not even in the league yet," Kez scoffed, hitting her best friend's shoulder because he couldn't stop laughing.

"Mum, do you realize how much pressure I will have on me going into college? Everyone will be watching me! I can't have WNBA players hating me because you screwed them!" Kamari exclaimed. Keziyah scoffed, feigning offense, "name one player that actually hates me." Lewis snorts, knowing full well a ton of players didn't fuck with her.

"Diana Taurasi. Emily-" Kez shot her a glare and she quickly shut up.

"Alright, I get it. I won't flirt with any players." Kez assured, and Lewis went to add a comment but she slapped a hand over his mouth.

Kamari sighed in relief, holding a hand over her chest, "thank you. Now we can go."

They climbed out of the car and headed into the arena. It was a pre-season game that Kamari begged to see, because majority of the other regular season games collided with her schedule. Lewis didn't have anything better to do so he decided to go with them. It was the Las Vegas Aces vs New York Liberty. Kamari was a big fan of players like A'ja Wilson, Breanna Stewart, Chelsea Gray, Jackie Young, and obviously Kelsey Plum, because who didn't love her?

Kamari jumped excitedly as Kez led her down the court. "Oh, my God! Mum, it's A'ja!" Kamari whisper-shouted as her mum and uncle sat down at their courtside seats.

"Want me to introduce you?" Kez asked, and Mari looked at her with wide eyes, "oh, my God, mum, no, stop embarrassing me!"

"What?" Kez mumbled in confusion, and Lewis snickered, lifting his phone to get a video of Mari's reaction to the players coming out. Her eyes brightened as she shook her mum with excitement. "You betta not post that!" Mari scowled, hitting his phone away but he already a pretty good video. "Send me that," Kez mumbled to him and he nodded with a small chuckle.

"Kez!" A'ja called, waving her over.

Kez smiled and got up, walking over to the taller woman. "How you been girl?" A'ja grinned, pulling her into a hug. "I'm good, just focused on my kid's move to college." She shrugs. "Oh, how's that going? I heard they wasn't gonna let her play until she was 16," A'ja said. "They don't want any issues with me, so they'll let her play once she turns 15. We're looking at Iowa and LSU, but they might put her in UConn," Kez explained.

"That sounds cool. I can't wait to watch her play," A'ja spoke excitedly.

"You wanna come meet her? She's a big fan," Kez chuckled. "We know! Her reactions are so sweet!" A'ja smiled, throwing her arm around the singer as she led her over to a nervous but enthusiastic Kamari. "Babygirl, this is A'ja. A'ja, this is Kamari." The girl rose from her seat with a wide smile, extending her hand to the taller woman, "hi, it's so nice to meet you! I'm a huge fan! You're so awesome!"

"And you said your mum would embarrass you," Lewis mumbled under his breath.

"Thank you so much! I've been watching your high-school games and you're so good, girl. I can't wait until you're in the league." A'ja expressed, pulling the girl into a hug rather than the handshake. "Kez, I'mma steal her real quick. Let's go meet the team!" Before Kamari could reply, A'ja was already pulling her down the court to meet everyone. Kez chuckled, plopping back down next to Lewis who was taking selfies.

He switched the camera to take a video as the players passed Kamari the ball to shoot a few hoops with them. A few minutes later, Mari returned to her seat, filled with giddiness. "They were all so nice to me," she sighed, with a dreamy look in her eyes. "I think I have a crush on Stewie now," Mari mumbled, leaning back in her seat as she watched the said woman practice. "You sound like your mum," Lewis comments, receiving an eye roll from Kez.

"Am I dreaming or is Kelsey Plum running over here?" Kamari questioned, hitting her mum's arm repeatedly.

"Nah, she is," Lewis nods.

Kelsey stops in front of them, turning towards Kamari, "hey, did you wanna grab dinner with me and some of the other girls after this?" Mari's eyes widened brightly and she turned to her mum with pleading eyes, "mum, can I go, please?" Kelsey smiled, looking down at Kez who seemed to be thinking it over. She couldn't tell that much because Kez was a little difficult to read. "You guys can come, too. A'ja was gonna invite y'all anyways but I wanted to beat her to it."

"Uh, I'mma have to pass, but you can go babygirl," Kez shrugged, and Mari squealed, hugging onto her as she repeated many thank yous.

"I'll go with to keep an eye on you," Lewis added and Mari nodded in agreement, completely fine as long as she got to go. "All right, I'll let A'ja know," Kesley grinned, sharing a fist bump with the girl. As she ran back over to her team, Lewis noticed the way Kezie's eyes lingered for a little too long. "Is it just me or did she seem totally uninterested in you?" He queried.

"You got that vibe too?" Kez replied, a smirk playing on her lips.

Kamari's smile dropped in realization, "mum, no. Absolutely not. You do this every time."

Kez scoffed in offense, "I don't know what you're going on about, child."

"Yes, you do. You do this every time someone shows even the slightest disinterest in you. Kelsey is my future teammate. She is off limits!" Kamari whined, shaking her mum's muscular arm. "She doesn't look off limits," Kez mumbled in Xhosa, her eyes still focused on the player who paid her no mind. "Well, she is. She literally just got married, and technically you're also still married, mum. She's also straight."

"That means absolutely nothing to your mother," Lewis added knowingly and Mari leaned over to smack his arm. "Don't encourage it! Whores, I tell you!"

"That marriage won't make it past a year," Kez murmured knowingly, causing Mari to shoot her a look.

"I'm starting to see why Diana hates you, mum," Mari sighed, and Kez snickered, leaning back comfortably.

The game soon started and at half time, people came over to get pictures and such. And surprisingly, Keziyah didn't flirt with anyone. That even shocked Lewis when she didn't call anyone any pet names or send them flirtatious smiles. She was very committed to proving Kamari wrong. Honestly, Lewis was very impressed because he noticed some people giving her signals and such, signals to which she politely ignored. Although, he had a feeling this wasn't easy for her.

"Mum, I'm cold," Mari murmured. Kez nods, standing up and unzipping her jacket, pulling it off her shoulders, only a cropped tank top underneath so her tattoos were very much on display. "Thank you." Mari smiled as Kez wrapped the jacket around her smaller shoulders.

"I'm not giving you mine, so don't ask," Lewis muttered towards his best friend. She snickered, throwing him the middle finger.

"Great, now I'm gonna get a ton of edits thanking me for my service," Mari sighed, and Kez chuckled as she sat back down, brushing her jeans off. "Actin' like you ain't got a million edits of Wanda Maximoff and Black Widow saved on my tiktok," she retorts and Mari's eyes widened, hoping nobody heard that. "Can you stop casually exposin' me? You're gonna ruin my nonchalant cool gyal kissa image," she said in her thick accent, rolling her shoulders with a giggle.

"I'm not the one announcing I'm a girl kisser to the world but okay," Kez mumbled sarcastically.

"You don't have to announce it. It's pretty obvious. Have you seen yourself?" Kamari deadpanned to her mother.

"Yo, mums, can you pick us up? Swear to God, Kelsey literally has no gas in her car! It's crazy. How you got no gas in your car but you rich?" Kamari rambled over the phone, both Kelsey and Lewis cackling in the background. "All right, I'm on the way, Nomsa. Send me your location." Kez spoke, climbing out of her comfortable hotel bed and grabbing her sneakers and a cardigan. "Thank you! Also, can you give Kelsey a ride back to her house?"

"Of course." Kez hummed, grabbing her keys to her Mercedes and walking out the door.

Half an hour later, she got to the restaurant outside, snickering when she seen Kelsey getting her car towed. Good to know Mari wasn't playing jokes on her. She honked the horn and Kamari came running out, going to the passenger seat but Kelsey shoved her out of the way. "No, no, you get in the back! I wanna play my music!" Kamari laughed and moved to the back, Lewis joining her.

Kelsey pulled open the passenger door and climbed in, setting her purse by her feet. "Put in your address, baby," Kez spoke, handing her phone to the basketball player.

"Mum, no," Kamari scolded sternly upon hearing the way her mum's tone changed.

"Can I put on some music?" Kelsey asked, still holding Kezie's phone in her hand as it was connected to the car. "Go for it," she nodded, pulling onto the road. Kelsey smiled, turning on some of her music, setting Kezie's phone in her lap. "Oh, my gosh, mum, Kels said she's gonna help me work on my defense. And A'ja said she's gonna help me work on my shooting!" Kamari rambled excitedly, subconsciously shaking Lewis's arm.

"That's sweet of them," Kez smiled, turning a corner, listening to Mari ramble on and on about basketball and all the stuff they talked about. "I also may have promised to get them passes to the paddock, but anyways-" Mari tried to brush that little fact off, causing Kez to shoot her a look through the mirror. "Kamari Ae-Cha Ziyah Kei Kumalo Jordan, what did I say about promising passes to people without asking me?"

"Not the government name," Kamari frowned, sinking into her seat.

"It's totally cool if you can't do it," Kelsey assured, not wanting Mari to get in trouble.

"No, no, I can do it. She just offers them up like candy." Kez says, and Mari smiled sheepishly. "When your mum is a CEO, you should take full advantage," Mari defended.

Kez chuckled lightly, shaking her head as she made another turn, "spoiled spoiled, girl."

"Hey, so, I heard rumors that you're thinking of becoming a shareholder for the team. Is any of that true?" Kelsey questioned towards Kez. "Uhh, it's certainly been discussed. But, I'm not making any decisions yet, not until Mari is in the league. I've already got so much on my plate with the team and skincare line. There's just a lot to do." Kamari's eyes lit up as she came up with an idea, "hey, mum, you should have MF sponsor Kelsey!"

"Here she goes," Lewis mumbled, causing her to smack his arm again.

"If the whole team got to, I would love to," Kelsey nods in agreement.

"Uh, yeah, I think I can work something out. I'll have our team reach out to yours." Kamari grinned excitedly, shaking Lewis's arm because she couldn't shake the driver's. "You see that? I'm a genius! I should basically control the sponsors. You could make so much money on a Jude Bellingham and Simole Biles sponsorship." She rambled again.

"She's got a point actually," Kelsey adds in agreement.

"I may as well just give you Neela's job then," Kez said, and Mari's eyes widened as she immediately shook her head. "No, thanks. Nobody wants her job."

"Hey Mari, who's your favorite player of all time?" Kelsey asks, turning to look over her shoulder. "Diana Taurasi," Mari answered immediately. "She's gonna wipe the floor with me in the league, though," she added knowingly. "You seriously gotta let that go. She's probably gonna retire before you even get to the W," Kez argued, knowing where Mari was going. "Mum, don't even! DT will literally stay long enough just to punk me in front of you," she shot back.

"Can't exactly blame her," Kelsey mumbled under her breath.

Kez raised a brow, glancing at her, "did you say something?"

"No," Kelsey murmured, shaking her head.

"Nah, I heard it. You said something. Say it again, baby." Kez smiled, pulling the car to the side and stopping just to give Kelsey her full attention.

"Dramatic ass," Lewis snorts.

"You should just be real with her 'cause she will wait here all night until you answer her," Mari advised, and Kez pushed her head back so she wouldn't end up in a rambling mess. "This is a bit dramatic, no?" Kelsey pondered, and Kez pulled her feet up, turning in her head because she was just that serious. "It wouldn't be if you just answered me. I wanna know what you said. Don't worry, I won't get mad."

"I said, "you can't exactly blame her." Kelsey shrugged, "you did kinda fuck her over in the celebrity games with that tech." Lewis pursed his lips, averting his eyes back to his phone. "Yeah, like ten years ago and I tried to apologize. It's not my fault she can't let shit go." Kez chuckled, turning in her seat and started the car again. "Really? You sound more pissed than she ever did," Kelsey shot back.

"Nah, I haven't given her a second thought but it's sweet that she thinks about me," Kez grinned.

"I'm not sure you're that memorable," Kelsey retorts sarcastically.

"Oh shit," Mari mumbled nervously, subconsciously nudging her uncle who was just waiting to see how Kez reacted to that.

"I'mma let that slide since you don't know how I roll yet," Kez mused, stopping the car in front of Kelsey's house. "How you roll? And how do you roll? I'm curious." Kelsey said, egging it on further, clearly trying to get under Kezie's skin, which was always the hardest thing to do because she was so unfazed by remarks. "You ain't ready for all that, sana. Come on, I'll walk you to the door."

She didn't give her time to object because Kez was already out the car, and walking around the side to pull open the passenger door for the athlete. Kelsey exchanged goodbyes with Mari and Lewis before climbing out. They got to the door and Kelsey reached into her purse for her keys, pulling some keys out that were certainly not hers. "Oh fuck. I took A'ja's keys." She mumbled, and grabbed her phone to call her husband to let her in.

"Sure you don't need me to pick the lock?" Kez queried, crossing her arms over her chest.

"Nah, you'll trip the security system...and I'm also not sure if I should be concerned that you know how to pick a lock." Kelsey says, squinting her eyes slightly in suspicion and Kez just smiled down at her.

The door opened and Kelsey sighed in relief, lifting up the wrong keys, "sorry, I took A'ja's keys by accident." She said apologetically because she had woken him up. "It's a'ight." Darren reassured, quick to pull her inside when he seen Keziyah. He knew her history like most athletes did, and he'd be stupid to not see her as a threat, even if he knew his wife was straight. "Keziyah gave me a ride home. I ran out of gas," Kelsey explained.

"Oh, okay, that's cool. Thanks for bringing her home," Darren nods, extending his hand to the woman and she kindly accepted it with a small hum under breath. "Ah, it's my pleasure, seriously."

"Thanks for the ride, Keziyah," Kels added, offering the singer a small smile.

"It's not problem, and just call me Kez, alright? Have a nice night. Don't stay up to late thinkin' about me." Kez winked, turning on her heel and walking back over to the car.

"The ego on that woman," Kelsey mumbled in disbelief.

"You picked her, didn't you?" Lewis mused, leaning against the passenger door. Kez chuckled, brushing her hair from her face as she shrugged, "I like a challenge." He shook his head with a light laugh, pulling open the door. "You never change."
