AUTHORS NOTE
Reyansh's voice dropped to a hush, as though speaking any louder would shatter the delicate image in his mind.
"She's never looked me in the eyes, Advait," he said, eyes fixed on the ceiling fan lazily spinning above. "Not once. But I swear, I'm in love with those eyes. There's something gentle about them, like she's in her own world—and I'd give anything to be let into it, even just a little."
He paused, turning to his side, his voice softer now. "She doesn't talk much. Just nods sometimes, or tilts her head. But if she ever spoke... I feel like her voice would sound like sunlight on cold skin. Soft. Quiet. Like the world hushes to listen."
He smiled faintly. "You know, I've got the line from her favorite book as my wallpaper. That one line she always runs her fingers over when she reads it. Traces it, three times. Always three. I've watched her do it like a ritual, and God—there's something so heartbreakingly beautiful in that. In her."
Reyansh exhaled, eyes glassy now. "How can someone be that beautiful, Advait? And not even try? She just is. She exists—and that's enough to undo me."
There was a long pause.
Advait, still half-awake, shifted onto his side and looked at Reyansh. His voice was quiet, hesitant.
"You do know the consequences of loving her... right?" he said slowly. "She's not... normal."
Reyansh snapped his head around so fast it made Advait flinch. His jaw clenched, eyes suddenly sharp.
"Don't talk about her like that," he said, his voice low and tight. "Don't you ever call her that again."
Advait blinked, sitting up a little. "Rey, I didn't mean—"
"I don't care what you meant," Reyansh cut in, sitting up now too. "She is who she is. And she's not broken. She doesn't need to be fixed or made to fit anyone else's idea of 'normal.' Least of all yours."
Advait opened his mouth, about to say something more, but Reyansh raised his hand, silencing him.
"I fell in love with a girl," Reyansh said, his voice steady now, but carrying a quiet intensity. "And that's all I know. I don't need to change anything about her. I just love her. That's it."
