Chapter 7
A trail of soda cans was being left behind in the wake of the truck carrying (Y/n) and everyone else, and the ravenette could only stare outside of the crate guiltily for the trash being left behind and not properly thrown away.
(Because in case none of you know, littering is one of the things (Y/n) hates the most.)
"You know," Yí began, watching the world go by with wonder in her eyes, "me and (Y/n) have never been out of the city," she told, a hint of awe in her voice at the beautiful scenery being presented before her very eyes.
"Yeah." Deciding to take her attention away from the trash being thrown out behind them, (Y/n) moved to sit down beside her sister and enjoy the view as well. "I honestly can't believe how beautiful it is out here..." she trailed off, amazement shining brightly in her (E/c) orbs.
However, the moment was (unfortunately) ruined rather quickly.
"I can't believe I haven't eaten in twenty-four hours," Jin stated with hints of sarcasm behind his voice; eyes still focused on his phone.
Yí only rolled her eyes and (Y/n) shrunk into herself; keeping her gaze directly focused on the floor beneath her feet; wanting to avoid looking at Jin at all cost.
"I'm starving," Jin oh-so helpfully added, holding his phone up a bit before making a pouty face and taking a picture of himself, most likely to post it on social media.
Ignoring his older cousin's misery, Peng happily chugged another can of soda, before suddenly coming to an abrupt stop; his eyes going wide as a realization donned upon him.
"Guys," the boy began nervously, "I gotta go."
Clearly fed up with everything he had had to put up with recently, Jin merely rolled his eyes at the news and continued to scroll through his phone. "Just hold it," he said, unaware of what would soon follow after his own words.
And when I say soon, I mean soon.
After gulping down his own drink, Everest's actions came to stop as well, and the gentle beast let out a whimper and felt his ears lower against his head. (Y/n) and Yí had of course noticed this immediately, and their eyes widened with horror.
"Oh, no," (Y/n) muttered. "He's gotta go, too!" Yí added, making Jin quickly return to reality with sheer terror in his eyes as well.
And that's when things began to grow chaotic.
Moving around in a panic, Everest began to shake the crate side to side, making everyone else cry out in surprise as they all fell back; quickly latching onto something in order to keep themselves steady. Although, this was quickly proved to be rather useless, because not too long after, the crate they were all in ended up falling off of the back of the truck it was on, and they all found themselves tumbling down a hill.
"AAAAAAAAAHHHH!!"
"EVEREST, NO!"
"GET ME OUT OF HERE!"
CRASH!
Falling to the floor at the same time, Yí, (Y/n), and Jin could only groan in pain as Peng and Everest ran off to...do their buisness.
"Ugh," Yí groaned, "my head..."
Looking up, the ravenette quickly noticed the hand being held out to her (specifically who it belonged to), and simply looked away before dismissively saying, "I'm good" before standing up herself.
Jin nodded, deciding not to try further upsetting the violinist, before turning to see where (Y/n) was.
His breath hitched slightly in his throat once he saw her trying to shakily get up; her eyes wide and so obviously petrified. She almost looked like a deer in headlights, now that he thought about it.
Stumbling over to the girl with braided hair, Jin didn't even hesitate to kneel down in front of her and hold his hand out. "Hey," he began, voice soft, "you okay?"
(Y/n), still shaken up, nodded hesitantly and slowly took Jin's hand; allowing him to help her back onto her feet. The moment that she was standing once again, though, the girl found herself falling forward and landing directly into Jin's arms, much to her embarrassment.
"S-sorry," she stuttered, chuckling awkwardly as Jin helped her steady herself. "I-I guess you could say that I'm feeling a little...shaken after what just happened."
"It's fine," Jin said quickly, wanting to get rid of any possible guilt (Y/n) was currently feeling. "I'm just glad that you're not hurt."
Seeing that (Y/n)'s legs were still trembling slightly, Jin carefully led her over to a fairly large rock and had her sit down on it to rest and calm herself. After making sure that she was comfortable, the boy then walked away and pulled his phone out and turned it on.
"Come on, come on, come on..." As if his hopeful pleading had been heard by whatever Gods above, Jin's phone let out a small Ding! and the teenager let out a sigh of relief.
"One bar. Okay, that's good enough," he muttered, earning a look from Yí.
"Good enough for what?" she questioned, brows furrowed.
"To buy tickets home," was Jin's short and simple answer.
"Okay, look, the next boat leaves around 5:00, so let's hope that's enough time to find our way back to the dock."
Nodding to himself, Jin put his phone up and walked back over to (Y/n), who had slid down from her place on the rock she was once sitting atop of and was now moving her legs around to make sure that they were working properly once again.
"Hey, come on, we're going back home." Before the ravenette could process anything, her hand was suddenly in Jin's, and he was beginning to drag her off in the direction that both Everest and Peng had run off in.
"Peng, come on. We're leaving!" Jin said, calling out to his cousin.
Much to both (Y/n)'s and Yí's amusement, their trio had quickly found Peng and Everest. However, the amusing part to this was the fact that Peng was currently laying down in the grass; his eyes closed and a dreamy smile on his face as he went on about wanting some of Nei Nei's pork buns (with extra pork).
"Alright, get up, Peng," Jin started, trying to bring his cousin back to reality. "We've got to go—"
"And a side of pork!"
Sighing frustratingly, Jin groaned and ran a hand through his hair before pulling his phone out again to check the time. Whilst the 16 year old boy was distracted by this, though, he failed to notice the grumbling tummy of a certain yeti, who had quickly taken notice of the barely grown blueberry around him.
So, with a smile (and an empty stomach), Everest got off of his bum and planted his fists firmly into the ground before closing his eyes contently and shutting his mouth, preparing himself.
Then, the sound of humming began to fill the air.
Almost instantly, everyone's attention was brought over to the gentle beast before them, and (Y/n) and Yí couldn't even bother hiding the astonished smiles that had spread across their faces.
Jin, however, was only confused. "Is he...Why is he making that—"
"Jin!" (Y/n) quietly snapped, bringing her hand up and covering Jin's mouth with it as she placed a finger her own lips to silence him. "Listen!"
Albeit surprised by the girl's sudden outburst, Jin still pushed her hand away and gave her a confused look. "Is he humming?" he asked (though more quietly), gesturing towards the yeti.
"Yes!" (Y/n) grinned brightly and turned back to watch Everest with her sister. "Now listen...!"
It all looked like it had come straight out of a dream. As Everest hummed his soothing tune, the winds began to rush past him; whistling along with him as the grass began to sway forward — its movements looking similar to that of a wave. Trees began to sway back and forth as well, and their leaves rustled along with them, creating their own tune.
"Huh?" Blinking a few times, Peng yawned and pushed himself up with his elbows; looking around in both confusion and curiosity. "What's going on — WHOA!"
While everyone else watched the scene in amazement and wonder, Jin began to back away; glancing at (Y/n)'s hand every now and then, tempted to grab it and pull her behind him protectively.
"What is happening?" he finally asked, trying to make sense of what was going on.
POP!
Perking up at the noise, Jin turned around and blinked in surprise at the sight of the blueberries beginning to suddenly grow at a faster rate.
"Whoa."
Finally snapping out of their trances, (Y/n) and Yí turned around to see what had surprised Jin, only to find themselves to be just as surprised as well.
"Is that a..." Stepping closer to take a closer look, Yí and (Y/n)'s awed smiles returned.
"A blueberry?" Yí asked, her voice filled with amazement.
"This is incredible!" (Y/n) said, her eyes sparkling with joy as she watched all of the blueberry bushes around them begun to flourish with their respected fruit.
Then, a gasp from behind was heard. "Food!" Peng cried gleefully as he ran forward to join Everest at his side; not even wasting a moment to begin stuffing his face with the vast majority of blueberries now available to him.
"Guys—" the boy licked his fingers "—these are delicious!" he told, earning an amused giggle from (Y/n).
"No thanks," the ravenette moved a strand of hair behind her ear before holding her hands behind her back. "I'm not really hungry right now."
"This doesn't make any sense."
Perking up at Jin's voice, (Y/n) turned around to see him intensely staring at one of the blueberries, which was still growing in size.
"This is not possible."
As if offended by Jin's words, the blueberry he was staring at blew up in his face (literally), making everyone burst out into a fit of laughter.
"Ugh!" Turning around to face the rest of the group, Jin huffed, feeling slightly embarrassed as he attempted to clean all of the blueberry juice off of himself.
"It's not funny, alright?" The teenager's eyes sharpened into a small glare as he gestured towards his clothes and added, "This is cashmere!"
Finally managing to calm herself down, (Y/n) looked back up to take another look at Jin's now messy state, only for her to completely come to a still as she watched in horror as all of the blueberries before her group began to grow larger and larger.
And, eventually (based off of the fact that everyone else's laughter had also come to a halt), (Y/n) wasn't the only one to notice.
"Uh, Jin?" Yí began, her voice small and nervous as she tried to put a stop to the boy's rambling.
And thankfully, she did! But, uh...
It may or may not have been a little too late.
Scoffing, Jin rolled his eyes and began to turn around once he noticed where everyone's eyes had been focused on.
"Now what—" Jin cut himself off the moment he finally took notice of the new problem at hand.
"Oh."
"Everest, do something!" Yí begged as they all walked closer to the said yeti, hoping for some sort of protection.
Everest glanced up at the large pile of blueberries he had created, and then looked down at Yí. He didn't do anything for a second; seemingly in thought.
Then, he ran off; leaving the rest of the group behind.
Very helpful, Everest. Thank you so much.
Looking back to where Everest had run off to, the group of kids all exchanged looks with one another before refocusing their attention over to the blueberries once again; eyes wide.
But then, Yí finally yelled out the single word they were all thinking:
"RUN!!"
So, they did.
Stumbling and nearly tripping over rocks, the group all let out their own respected scream as giant blueberries began to rain down on them from above.
"INCOMING!" Yí yelled, noticing the large, blue fruits beginning to fall closer to them.
Soon enough, purple juice began to splatter everywhere; getting stains of purple and blue all over everyone, who was trying oh-so desperately to avoid them.
"Run!"
"Go faster!"
But unfortunately, luck did not seem to be on their side.
Everest, who was running ahead of the group, ended up getting knocked aside by one of the larger blueberries, and the yeti fell to the floor with a groan as Jin — who was passing by — watched in horror.
"Oh, no—" And just like Everest, the 16 year old boy was hit and knocked down to the floor as well, making him cry out in both pain and sorrow due to his expensive clothes being ruined.
"Save yourselves!" Yí cried, pushing (Y/n) out of the way of an incoming blueberry and taking the hit for her. (Y/n) gasped at this and immediately stopped; falling to her sister's side and slipping a hand under her head fo gently lift it up as her lips quivered.
"Yí! Sis, don't leave me!" When Yí only groaned in agony, her eyes not opening, the (E/c)-eyed girl could only release an anguished cry.
From up ahead, Peng was screaming at the top of his lungs, when a blueberry had also managed to hit him as well, causing the boy to fall to his knees and place a hand dramatically over where his heart is.
"I'm hit!" he yelled, holding back tears. "Tell Nai Nai's pork buns I love them!"
Ignoring the young boy's dramatic, heart-wrenching moment, Everest came by and picked him up and threw him onto his back; running as fast as he could to avoid getting hit by anymore blueberries, Yí, Jin, and (Y/n) following in toe.
(Hopefully after this, nobody will be hungry anymore.)
