SITTING OUTSIDE OF ryan's house had brought back a sense of nostalgia. for some reason, smoking pot on the back patio with a boy who really only was best friends with her ex, gave her a sense of comfort. and while he talked about how much he missed vienna, it felt even she could talk about walker right after him.

"and there's something about those damn eyes." ryan continued, reminiscing back to last summer before everything went to shit. "i wish she knew how much i actually missed her, ya know?"

lani nodded, continuing to stare off into the darkness of ry's backyard. "it's the same for me. something about our story doesn't feel finished."

ryan's lips parted before he closed his mouth again. he had something to say, but truly didn't know how to word it. so, letting out a large sigh was a much better response.

"don't pull your stupid bullshit ryan." lani hated when he did these things.

"look lan, i love you, you know that, but the things i'm gonna say might really break your heart."

the girl rolled her eyes. "say it ryan."

"i just don't think walker is truly ready for any commitment. everything is going so well for him, and i'm not saying you're gonna ruin it all, but i just don't think he's ready."

and just like that, everything went silent. the crickets outside suddenly disappeared, and a ringing went off in the girl's ears.

july 25th, 2023

"I DONT KNOW if i'm ready lani." walker said, talking to the girl whom was lying down on her bed.

walker was in the spinny chair by her vanity, clicking the on and off switch. watching the lights flick did something to his anxiety he was feeling at the moment.

"i get that walker, but i think you're gonna do great" lani continued to stare at the ceiling.

"i'm scared to go." the boy said.

"walk, you've done this before love. you're gonna be okay." the girl got off the bed, making her way to her boyfriend before giving him a small peck on his lips.

"i love you."
"i love you more."
