STRANGER THINGS 2
episode three
JOSIE AND MIKE WALKED BESIDE EACH OTHER ANGRILY. Mike, anticipation written on his face, lifted the supercomm, pressing down on the button with a decisive click. "East is clear. No sign of Dart," he relayed to the group. Josie, expressing her frustration, let out a groan and threw her head back. "Dustin, should let me be one to handle that thing," she commented with a hint of irritation. Mike nodded in agreement, taking a step forward. As he ascended the stairs, Josie trailed beside him. "When we find it, you can be the one to deal with it," he promised, and a confident smirk formed on Josie's lips. "You got that right."
Little did they know, El saw Mike and Josie together. . . Only jealousy filling her.
They continued to look. For a moment, it was just silence, but Josie wanted to know what Dustin and Lucas meant. She sighed, punching Mike in the shoulder playfully. "You gonna tell me what Dustin and Lucas meant about you liking me back there?" She asked him as he looked over at her, his eyes turning into panic. They made eye contact.
He looked away quickly. A small scarlet red heated onto his cheeks as he looked down on the floor. "Uhm. . . Well-"
Josie sighed again, stopping Mike as she stepped in front of him. "Mike, I'm sorry. . . but i want you know that. . . before you get your heartbroken, i don't like you like that. I only see as friend. This sound blunt. Sorry. . . but I think you should know, I like Max. . . You like me because you miss El. You like idea of me because I have superpowers like her. You love her. Not me."
Mike stared at her, shutting his eyes closed for a moment before opening them with tears in them. "You're right. . . Thank you, Jo." His voice croaked. She frowned her lips, wrapping her arms around him. He buried his head into her shoulder, hugging her tightly. It was a long needed hug. "You're welcome, Mikey." She whispered.
AFTER THAT, THEY DECIDED to go check the gym. Mike opened the door, pushing Josie behind him (also taking her hand into his his), peaking his head in before taking a step forward, pulling the both of them into the gym.
Their heads snapped to the boys locker room. The door opened and closed. Mike squeezed Josie's hand tightly, Josie glared at the door, pulling away from Mike and walking towards it. Mike looked back and forth, thinking if he should follow. He clicked his tongue, running after her.
The Cortez girl took small step through the locker room, keeping her hands out incase she needs to take Dart and throw him against a wall again. Mike was close behind her, finding a broom and holding it close to him.
Objects clattering through the vents made Josie snap her head around while Mike started swinging the broom around, almost hitting Josie. They turned the corner, Mike screaming, making Josie scream and throwing her hand around. Josie accidentally threw the broom out of Mikes hand, going past Max's head as she ducked down, looking over at Josie with a look.
Josie slapped her hand onto her mouth. "ยกSanta mierda! Me asustaste. I'm sorry, sunshine. Mike screamed, so I panicked." She apologized quickly as Max rolled her eyes at her which didn't make Mike even happier that Max was trying to help find Dart. He thought he made it clear to her that she wasn't in the party.
TRANSLATION; Holy shit! You scared me.
Max gave Mike and Josie glares. "What the hell are you guys doing?" She snapped at them as Josie furrowed her eyebrows, not expecting the snap and looking over at Mike who sent Max a glare back. "What are you doing?" Mike snapped back. "Why are you in here?" He added.
"Looking for dart!" Max exclaimed.
"This is the boys' room." Mike reminded her as Max squinted her eyes, tilting her head. "Yeah so? Josefina is in here." She said back bitterly.
Max calling Josie by her full name made Josie's heart sink. Why was she so mad at her?
"So you should go home!" Mike yelled at her, turning around, wrapping his arm around Josie's waist and walking out of the locker room pulling her with him. She took a few glances back at Max who followed them out. "Why do you hate me so much?" Max yelled at him. "I don't hate you." He grumbled, avoiding eye contact with her as Josie pursed her lips into a thin line, stopping her trails.
"How can he hate you? He doesn't even know you." Josie spat at her with an eye roll, crossing her arms. "But why doesn't he want me in his party?" He shot back as Josie shrugged her shoulders. "Ask him not me!" She groaned, turning on her heels as she looked over at Mike.
"You're correct." Mike replied with bitter. "Why not?" Max exclaimed making Josie and Mike snap around, stopping in their tracks. "Because you're annoying!" Mike finally answers. Josie's eyes widened. She saw a slight bit of Max's face fall.
"Also, we don't need another party member. I'm our paladin, Jo's our barbarian, Will's our cleric, Dustin's our bard, Lucas is our ranger, and El is our mage." He listed with anger filled in his voice as Josie slapped her hand onto her forehead. She knew Max was gonna question him about El.
Max knitted her eyebrows. "El? Who's El?" She asked. Her voice sounded sad. Mike immediately regretted it, looking over at Josie who raised her hands in defense. "Someone. No one." He shut her off.
"Someone or no one?" Max interrogated.
Mike rolled his eyes. "She was in our party a long time ago. She moved away, okay?" He said to her, nodding his head upwards towards Josie, she started to walk away with Mike before Max dropped her skateboard on the ground.
"She was a mage?" She circled around them, making them stop walking again. "Well, what could she do? Like magic tricks or something? Is she like Josie?" She continued her interrogating.
Mike snapped his over to Josie. "You told her?" He yelled slightly as Josie crossed her arms again. "I trusted her." She mumbled as Mike shook his head. "Did she?"
Mike ignored her as Max jumped off her skateboard. "Well, I could be your Zoomer." She suggested, nodding her head. "That's not even a real thing." Mike told her as she nodded her head quickly. "It could be." She hopper onto her skateboard again.
Max put her arms out, skateboarding around Mike and Josie. "See? Zoomer." She tried to impress them, mostly Josie. Even though she was mad at her, she still wanted to try and show off to her.
"Mind blowing." Mike said with unamusement.
"Come on, you know you're impressed." She remarked, winking over at Josie as Josie quickly looked away. "I'm impressed." She commented, keeping her voice in a whisper tone as Mike raised an eyebrow.
Then it clicked. It didn't register in his head until now. Earlier, Josie said she liked Max. He looked up at Max with a harsh glare. "I don't see any tricks. You're just going around in a circle."
Max eyed him. "If it's so easy, you or Josie should try it." She spoked up as Mike shook his head. "No." He demanded as she scoffed. "Why not?"
Josie bit her lip, sort of dizzy because of Max skating around them. "I don't know how." Mike told her as the brunette sighed. "I try." She smiled as Max smiled back at her, stopping, hopping off the skateboard.
Josie stared at the skateboard at her feet. She had never ridden one before (without Max on it), but she was determined to learn. She took a deep breath and stepped onto the board, wobbling slightly as she tried to find her balance. After a few shaky moments, she started to move forward, picking up speed as she went. Her heart was pounding with excitement as she felt the wind rushing past her face. She was doing it! She was skateboarding!
She smiled. She looked over at Max who had an impressed look. "So, you admit this is impressive? Do you think I should be in the party?" She smirked as Josie nodded.
Mike shook his head. "No! It's not happening."
Josie rolled her eyes. She stood confidently on Max's skateboard, circling around Mike with ease. She kicked off with one foot and propelled herself forward, her long hair streaming behind her. "Okay, you're making me dizzy." Mike told her.
Josie hummed. "I won't stop 'til you let Max in. She deserve it. She new. She my friend." She demanded as Max gave her a knowing look. "Thank you." She mouthed to Josie as Josie sent her a teethy smile.
Josie continued to circle around them. "Please just stop." Mike begged as Max shook her head with a small hum. "She won't stop until you let me join." She reminded Mike.
Mike threw his back in annoyance. "Come on, just stop." He pleaded as Josie hummed a 'no'. "It's simple questions. She in or out?" As she approached Mike, she leaned slightly to one side and pivoted, spinning in a smooth circle around him. Mike watched in amazement as Josie glided past him, her movements graceful and fluid. It was clear that she had mastered the art of skateboarding.
Max giggled. "You're doing good, Josie. You sure you never tried this before?" She asked her as Josie shook her head. "No." She laughed slightly.
Mike didn't hide his smile (Neither did Max, she had a giant grin on her lips) as Josie skated around him with a grin.
JOSIE FELT A SUDDEN JOLT as a magnetic force seemed to pull her off her skateboard. It was as if an invisible hand had reached out and pushed her, causing her to lose her balance and stumble. She fell back onto the gym floor. She looked around, trying to find the source of the strange sensation, but there was no one nearby. It was then that she realized that the force wasn't physical โ it was something else entirely. A chill ran down her spine as she wondered who or what was behind it.
Mike and Max ran over to her, towering over as they both lend their hands out to help her up. Josie blinked, taking both hands and they pulled her up. "You okay?" Max asked, rubbing her neck anxiously as Josie nodded slowly. "Y. . . Yeah. Think so." She stammered.
"What happened?" Mike questioned as Josie gave him a knowing look. "It felt like magnet pulled me off." She was hinting that it wasn't her and it might've been Josie.
Mike eyes widened, he looked over at the door, seeing El quickly vanish. "Go after her, Mike." Josie whispered to him as he walked towards the door.
Max furrowed her eyebrows. "What was that?" Max stepped in front of her as Josie swallowed this nervous feeling. "Uh. . . I can't say."
Max rolled her eyes. "Fine." She walked past her, shoving her shoulder angrily as Josie felt her voice croak, the feeling she might cry. Max was really mad at her, but for her safety, she can't tell her. Her eyes watered.
THEY GOT A CALL TO GO TO ONE OF THE BATHROOMS WHERE WILL FOUND DART. Dustin leaned his back against the wall with a suspicious look. "Where's Dart?" Josie asked with a hardened look. "I don't know. Not here."
Mike gapped. "What?" He looked through the stalls. "He said by Salerno's, right?" Max questioned as Dustin shrugged his shoulders. "Yeah, maybe Will has him."
Mike stopped looking through stalls. "Where's Will?" He asked Dustin with a worried look as Josie felt a very unsettled feeling. She backed away, turning the corner into the hallway. She sprinted outside, finding Will stuck in place and shaking slightly.
She bit her tongue, touching his shoulder tightly and closing her eyes. She felt darkness fill Will, she tried to fight the feeling off for him, but it shut her out and she opened her eyes. She felt her legs wobble, her vision got blurry. Then everything went black and she fell onto the ground unconscious with her nose bleeding uncontrollably as the Mind Flayer used her as a power bank.
