TODAY WAS A SPECIAL DAY ONCE AGAIN. today was oliver bearman's birthday. it was also the week before finals, so her parents didn't allow her to go and fly to italy to go see him at the factory.

linnea was heartbroken she couldn't be there for him on his birthday, because he had gone out of his way to be there for hers. she felt guilty, even though ollie had told her countless of times that he didn't blame her or her parents.

of course, ollie would love for her to be there but her getting her degree was important, he understood that. when arthur and dino came up to him at the ferrari building, he didn't really think anything special of it.

"hey bearman! happy birthday!" dino smiled, giving him a bro hug. ollie thanked him, turning to arthur after. "happy birthday ollie!" arthur grinned, his french accent really shining through. the tall brunette also thanked the monegasque boy, smiling at him.

"we have something for you." dino grinned proudly, "should i be worried?" ollie asked, unsurely. arthur grabbed a bag that was on the floor, pulling out a box. "open that." he ordered, "you could ask more nicely." ollie said, arthur only rolled his eyes in response, shoving the box into the boys hands.

ollie ripped off the wrapping paper and opened the box, three papers and some other wrapped little thing was inside. the —now nineteen— year old grabbed one of the papers, confused.

the papers were scribbled in handwriting, the top read 'to my sweet bear,' and ollie knew who this was from. "when did she give this?" he asked, he seemed genuinely emotional. "when we were there for her birthday, she already knew she wouldn't be able to make it." arthur smiled at his friend, sadly.

dino hit arthur on the arm, he got the hint and the two older boys left ollie alone to read the letter his girlfriend wrote for him. the tall boy sat down on a couch in the lunch room as no one else was there.

'to my sweet bear,

hi love!! i'm writing this the day before my birthday because we both already know i won't make it for your birthday. i'm giving this to arthur and dino so i hope this will stay intact :,).

i wanted to start by saying that i miss you. that's cringey as fuck but it's true. every day we're not in the same room, i get this weird feeling like i physically get sick. those butterflies in my stomach are like puking or something cus i for real get tummy aches when i'm not with you.

i didn't really believe strongly in love anymore after j*den. i never really told you what happened between me and him, i think. i'll explain it shortly. we met when i was thirteen, he was fifteen.

i was touch starved and he was the first boy to ever really show interest in me, so i immediately clung to him. we dated for almost a year and at first it was great, like any manipulative ahh relationship. after like four months, he started acting differently.

he went m.i.a during the time after school, he'd only text me after 11pm. mikayla and bruno were already telling me to break it off but i was stupid and i thought i was in love.

when he cheated on me, is when i started having my doubts. I STARTED HAVING DOUBTS AFTER HE CHEATED. like girl GET UP. but anyway, we continued dating for six more months, during those months he was borderline insane.

he would tell me he was gonna kill himself if i broke up with him. fourteen year old me believed him of course, so i stayed. when he slapped me for the first time, i came home crying. my dad was fucking pissed (understandably) and i told him everything about j*den.

dad went batshit crazy and went to his house to go talk to j*den's father. i wasn't with my dad when he went to their house because i was still in shambles, with my mom.

after dad came back, he told me that me and j*den were over and that that family would not be in chelmsford much longer. i never asked about it and i never want to ask about it.

i guess that wasn't really shortly but whatever, i wanted you to know. that shit could've been my villain arc but it was my anxiety arc :D. it's funny!!! you can laugh!!!!

now that you know, i want you to ALSO know, that you were the reason i started to believe in love again. when we first met again on christmas, you were instantly there for me. like you always were. oh, and btw, i know you're going to feel guilty about not being there when i was with j*den but i'm telling you now, DON'T. i don't blame you and never will.

you're literally the best thing that ever happened to me. ew that was cringe. but i do mean it. we haven't said 'i love you' but i'm hoping we will before your birthday. i'm already about 80% sure that i love you.

so, that being said, i wanted to thank you for helping me. thanks for helping me believe in love again, thanks for giving me new friends, thanks for being the best guy ever.

by the end of the letter, the boy had tears in his eyes. he had no idea that her relationship with jaden was ever that bad, he knew jaden was not a five star review boyfriend but after reading what he had done to linnea, jail can't be that bad. he thought to himself.

he took the little wrapped present out of the bigger box and ripped the paper off. there was a little box in the paper, a brand name on top of it that ollie didn't recognize. he slid the lid off to reveal a silver ring, he admired it for a bit and he spotted the little 'L <3' written in cursive on the inside of the ring.

he slipped it over his right middle finger, it fit perfectly. after the initial shock about linnea's past, his head cleared and he immediately picked up his phone to call her.

facetiming nea🤍...

it rang a few times before she answered, the girls face showed up. "hi bear, happy birthday! by the way, i'm in a toilet stall at school right now, so i can't talk too loud." she said, half giggling.

"nea, i'm going to kill jaden slowly and painfully." ollie stated, seriously. "let's not do that, handsome. i don't want you in jail. but i take it arthur and dino got my present to you whole." linnea half smiled.

"yes. bellissima, why didn't you tell me at new years? i would've hit him much harder." the boy said, he still had the tears in his eyes. "i didn't know how you would react and, for the record, i loved seeing you hit him. very satisfying." the girl replied, trying to get him to smile.

it had worked, ollie's face contorting into a cocky grin. "oh yeah? can i do it again?" he asked innocently, linnea laughed at her boyfriends question. "if we ever see him again, you have my full permission to hit him square in the face again, handsome."
