THE PARTY HAD OFFICIALLY STARTED. people had started piling in via the front door, that eventually had to be left open because people kept on coming in right after the other. it was cold though, the freezing air making it's way into linnea's house.

the cold air didn't effect the heat inside the home, all of the sweating teenage bodies keeping it hot as hell inside. linnea had decided to leave the sliding door to her backyard open, incase people wanted to have a smoke and to keep some fresh air flowing through the house.

the music was very loud and all the main lights had been switched off, some colored lights shone on the normally empty space in the houses' living room, now transformed into the dance floor. the rest of the house was illuminated by some dimmed lighting, mostly staying dark.

bruno had already disappeared to the dance floor with some black-haired girl linnea didn't recognize. mikayla and her were still on the couch, chatting with kai, raina and some of their friends linnea didn't even know before this. some girls named ariah, isobelle and emily and two guys, james and alex.

linnea had learned that isobelle was alex's girlfriend and kai was in some sort of situationship with ariah. linnea was sat in the middle of the couch, mikayla on her right side and kai, with ariah on his lap, on her left. emily was a little mean but only when linnea didn't directly talk to her.

it was now nearing 10pm and linnea was excited for ollie to finally arrive. the group of eight were all laughing together when linnea's phone buzzed in her lap. she turned it over to see ollie's name. she tapped mikayla on the shoulder and motioned to her phone. the blonde smiled and nodded, letting linnea know she got it.

the brunette girl stood up and walked off to the hall, picking up the phone. "ollie!" she yelled through the phone speaker, barely able to hear herself due to the music.

she stepped outside into the cold air, to be able to hear the boy. "nea! i'm just around the corner." ollie stated, as linnea saw a car turning into her street. "yup. i see you, i'm outside." the girl replied.

the car drove up to her house and ollie stepped out of the passenger seat of the black, expensive looking car. he walked to the backside doors and grabbed a bag from the backseat. he seemed to wave goodbye to whoever drove him there before quickly speed walking up to linnea.

"nea! what are you doing outside in this cold? without a jacket?!" he fussed, throwing his arm around her shoulder, quickly leading the girl inside. she didn't even notice herself shivering due to the freezing air.

"i was waiting for you, oliver." she stated matter-of-factly. "yeah, i can see that but at least wear a coat next time!" he continued to worry about her. ollie pulled off his own jacket, throwing it on the pile that already formed on the floor of the hall. he put his backpack on the stairs as he smiled at linnea.

"come here." the boy opened his arms for her, linnea immediately taking the opportunity and stepping into his embrace. "i kinda missed you." she said, just loud enough for ollie to hear. "i missed you too, nea." he replied before letting go of the girl.

she quickly got herself together, grabbing the boys hand and pulling him into the livingroom. she guided him to the couches where all of her friends, minus bruno, sat. "guys! this is ollie!" she attempted to shout over the music.

james and alex had gotten up to dab ollie up, mikayla also standing up to greet him. "so you're the one who stole my bestfriend at christmas!" the blonde shouted in the crouching boys ear, as he was too tall standing up to his full height.

ollie laughed for a second before nodding, "sorry about that! well. not really!" linnea heard him reply, mikayla glared at him but it quickly turned into a grin as the blonde sat back down on the couch.

linnea pulled ollie down by his shoulder, "do you want a drink?!" she yelled. the boy replied with a nod, "beer!" he smiled. linnea nodded, disappearing into the kitchen. she saw some couple making out on the kitchen counter and quickly passed by them, opening the fridge.

she grabbed some beers and made her way back into the living room, noticing that ollie had taken her spot on the couch. she went up to him, giving him his bottle. she looked around for an empty spot, finding absolutely none.

she looked back at the boy in front of her, who smiled back at her. he manspread, patting the part of the couch between his legs, as a joke probably. linnea shrugged, turned around and plopped down between ollie's legs. she leaned her back on his chest as the boy behind her sipped his beer.

he didn't really seem bothered with her actually taking him up on his offer, even putting his free arm around her waist. he started up some random conversation with kai, who was next to him.

mikayla's jaw was slacked open, looking at her bestfriend's boldness with the older boy. linnea turned towards her, immediately snorting at the blonde's face.

kayla's eyes moved between linnea and ollie quickly, seeming startled. "when did you become so bold?!" she yelled in her bestfriends ear. "since i had two drinks!" linnea responded with a big grin. the blonde girl rolled her eyes, starting to smile at her friends' happiness.

it was two minutes before midnight, and everyone had moved outside. heating lamps were the only source of warmth as many people stood under the sheltered part of her backyard, avoiding the uncovered, heated pool. they didn't have a cover for it yet as the pool was a fairly new asset to the house.

at an unknown time, linnea had acquired a red sweater over her dress. she didn't remember who she got it from but it was hers now. she was standing next to ollie, mikayla and bruno, who had finally broken away from his dancing partner.

bruno and ollie got along well, much to linnea's relief. the two boys were talking animatedly as mikayla and herself were also conversing. suddenly people started counting down the last minute of 2023.

ollie quickly grabbed linnea's hand, pulling her under his  arm. linnea looked at the boy, who was already smiling down at her. they were both certainly not sober, but then again, who was?

bruno had also wrapped kayla under his arm, this embrace seemingly more platonic as the one next to them. then the final countdown started.

ten. nine.

linnea hugged the tall boys waist, pushing her face into his side.

eight. seven.

the boy reacted by bending down to give her a kiss on the top of her head.

six. five.

she looked up at him, smiling a drunken grin.

four. three.

they locked eyes.

two.

none of them dared to lean in further.

one.

"HAPPY NEW YEAR!!" was wildly shouted by everyone at the party, the firework show some miles away could be seen from linnea's backyard, adding to the festive mood.

linnea had turned her body so she was fully able to hug the tall boy, standing on her tippy toes to wrap both her arms around his neck. ollie's arms quickly snaked around her waist, putting his face into her neck.

"happy new year." linnea said into his ear. "happy new year, nea." ollie said back, letting go of her. bruno and mikayla were quick to pull linnea into a group hug for the three of them. ollie watched with a smile on his face as the friends wished each other a happy new year.

bruno extended his hand a yanked the other boy by his arm, pulling him into the embrace as well. "happy new year!!!" bruno had yelled loudly, all the other teens around them seemed to cheer to bruno's statement.

the quartet let go of each other as kai and raina came up to them with their friends, all of them wished each other the best new year and hugged. every single face at the party seemed to have some sort of smile or laugh present.

it was now around 1:30am and the party was still going, some people had left by now, but there was still easily over fifty people roaming linnea's house. most had moved back inside including linnea, ollie, mikayla and bruno.

she had seen raina and kai about ten minutes ago with their friend emily, who was on the phone with someone. emily had looked upset at first, but came back out of the lou smiling. kai and raina had left her after she went into the bathroom.

linnea was sat next to ollie this time, champagne in her left hand as her right arm was hooked in the brunette boys' left. she was sitting with her legs up on the couch, laying to her left side. let's say she was very comfortable.

linnea hadn't even noticed her ex boyfriend walking in. she hadn't noticed emily greeting him with a hug. she hadn't noticed emily pointing at her from the other side of the living room.

she only noticed their presence as they arrived at the couches. she looked up only to lock eyes with someone she had hoped never to see again. jaden.

mikayla and bruno immediately noticed him too. bruno already standing up, moving closer to linnea. she had frozen up, ollie didn't seem to notice as he continued talking with some guy on the other couch.

jaden had smiled fakely at his ex girlfriend before sitting down on the couch opposite her. this time linnea took note as emily sat down next to him, looking at him with a lovesick smile.

it pained linnea. not seeing her ex with someone else, she didn't care about that. but the fact that she could see herself in emily. she had also once looked at jaden the way emily was doing now. jaden smirked at linnea as emily kissed his cheek, though not giving emily any attention back.

linnea had raised her eyebrows, unimpressed. she turned away from him, putting down her, now empty, champagne glass. the girl tapped the boy next to her on the shoulder, ollie immediately turning his head to her. "what's up?" he smiled sweetly.

she leaned closer to his face as she spoke, "the guy who just sat down, that's my ex boyfriend. i think he's trying to make me jealous or something, lowkey pathetic." she explained, ollie nodding. "let's play his game then." he whispered back.

the boy kissed her cheek softly, before turning back to his conversation, acting like it was routinely. linnea had picked up on what he was putting down. she raised her hand, grabbing ollie's chin, turning his head just enough so she could reach.

she kissed him on his jawline, as he continued talking with the guy on the other couch. the act they had put up was certainly convincing as bruno looked at mikayla with wide eyes.

mikayla had also seen the interaction but she had heard them talking, knowing what the two were doing. the blonde decided to text the indian boy to explain.

jaden could be seen, frowning and scrunching his nose up. bruno and mikayla were desperately trying not to burst out laughing, trying and failing. mikayla let out a loud snort, immediately covering her mouth with her manicured hand. she looked away in the hope no one had heard.

jaden however, had heard. he also has a sixth sense apparently, because he looked at mikayla with an intense glare. HOW DID HE KNOW IT WAS ABOUT HIM?? mikayla asked herself, still trying not to giggle and make it even worse.

bruno saw emily whisper something into jaden's ear and the boy nodded with a smile. bruno knew something was off about it but he didn't have a way to prove it.

about half an hour later, about 2am, the party was slowly becoming more quiet. most of the people had left and it was about 20 people still at linnea's house.

kai and raina had wanted to smoke a cigarette and the group of linnea, bruno, mikayla, ollie, kai and raina had moved outside. the other group had stayed inside, containing jaden, emily, alex, isobelle and some other people. ariah had to go home because her parents called her, very mad.

the boys and raina had stayed under the sheltered part of the garden while linnea and mikayla stood besides the pool, admiring the stars. both of the girls had an empty wineglass in hand, both not really feeling like getting more.

suddenly the group of jaden and emily joined them outside, almost all of them lighting up a cigarette or taking puffs of a vape. isobelle and james were the only ones who just sat down, joining the conversation of bruno, ollie, kai and raina.

linnea and mikayla were calmly talking until suddenly linnea felt two large hands on her back, then it was wet. she had been pushed into the pool. she quickly resurfaced, locking eyes with the culprits as she gasped for air.

jaden and emily were stood on the side of the pool, grinning. mikayla had surfaced beside linnea, also breathing heavily. a few seconds later ollie, bruno, kai and raina arrived at the pool.

"oh my god, are you guys okay?!" raina kneeled to the pool holding out her hand for whoever could reach first. kai fell to his knees beside his cousin, also extending a hand.

linnea was hoisted out of the water by raina as mikayla was helped by kai. linnea instantly felt herself shiver and she could hear ollie and bruno shouting at the duo who were guilty.

out of nowhere, isobelle stood in front of the shivering girls, holding towels. "here, i'm so sorry about this, oh my god." she stated, handing the girls the bath towels.

"it's not your fault, thanks though." mikayla stated, both of the girls wrapping themselves into the thick cloths. linnea and mikayla both turned to the arguing foursome just a few meters away, it was getting more heated by the second.

linnea walked up to ollie, still shivering. she laid her hand on his shoulder and the boy immediately stopped yelling, turning to her. "nea, are you hurt?" he quickly asked, worried. "i'm fine, just cold as fuck." she replied, trying to smile.

bruno had also been fussing over mikayla as jaden and emily smirked, victorious. "yeah, run to your little boyfriend, linnea! see if his dick is better then mine!" jaden laughed.

ollie opened his mouth to talk but linnea cut him off, "already did. and it was better actually." she smiled sarcastically, laying her head on ollie's shoulder. "of course you did, you slag." jaden muttered, loud enough for everyone to hear.

this time oliver acted before linnea could stop him, she blinked plainly as she witnessed her childhood friend, hit her ex boyfriend in the jaw.

jaden fell down and emily hurried to his side, ollie knew he had done enough and returned to linnea. the brunette looked around, luckily she didn't spot any phones out. she did not want this to get out and possibly ruin ollie's career.

she looked up at him, "you didn't have to do that, ollie. what if someone was filming and posted it?? that would ruin-" she scolded him quietly, before getting cut off. "he called you a slag, nea. i'm not gonna do nothing! and if it gets out, it gets out. i will explain the video with a tweet or something and my career will be fine." oliver replied, calming the girl down.

bruno and mikayla had joined them as kai and raina escorted jaden and emily out of the house, with a lot of protest. the soaked girls were guided inside by the worried boys, bringing them upstairs after telling everyone that the party was over.

linnea and mikayla took a short shower together as they were freezing, but just wanting to sleep at this point. while they were busy doing that, bruno and ollie cleaned up downstairs as best they could.

the girls came downstairs, both in hoodies and sweatpants. "we can go to sleep now, i'm tired as hell. we'll clean the rest up tomorrow before my parents get home." linnea told the two boys, who nodded and walked back up stairs with them.

an air mattress was already pumped up, laying on the floor. "who wants to sleep with who?" the brunette girl asked. "i don't mind." ollie replied, mikayla and bruno looked at each other, both thinking the same thing.

"i'll sleep with bruno, you two can have the bed." mikayla answered, smiling. linnea nodded as bruno switched off the lights, all of the teens getting into their beds.

linnea immediately cuddled up to the brunette boy next to her, still cold from getting dumped into the pool. "sorry, i'm still lowkey freezing." she whispered to him. "you know i don't mind, nea." ollie replied before kissing the top of her head.

"goodnight pookies." mikayla's voice called out, getting some sort of 'goodnight' back from everyone.

linnea fell asleep quickly after that. she was warm, comfortable and with her favorite people in the world.
