IT WAS CHRISTMAS TIME ONCE MORE. but it was never the same after the bearmans left. at first, the evermoore and bearman families stayed in contact, calling every week, but over the years the contact faded. linnea misses her bestfriend, even after all this time.

she watches all of his races, she admires him from afar. she's proud of everything he has accomplished.

linnea's little sister lisa had turned fifteen the day before, the whole family and lisa's friends from school had come over, but not the bearmans. lisa herself didn't remember a lot about them, since she was so young when they left. she did remember the family to some extent but not as much as linnea did.

as linnea made her way down the stairs of the home, she was mindlessly scrolling through instagram on her phone. she made her way into the kitchen, looking up to see her mother getting ready for work. her dad was already at work by now as it was around 9am.

"morning, mum." she smiled and kissed her mother on the cheek, "morning, sweetheart." her mother replied. "what time will you be back?" linnea questioned, as she started making a grilled cheese.

"probably around three thirty. don't have much to do at the office around christmas." her mother answered. linnea smiled, "will you be in time to bake some brownies?" belle smiled at her, "ofcourse, baby."

as linnea finished making her grilled cheese, her mother started putting some dishes in the dishwasher, "i can do that after i finish, mum." linnea said while chewing. "no talking while chewing lin, how many times?" her mother scolded with a playful grin. linnea only rolled her eyes with a little smirk, her mother continued doing the dishes though.

"oh lin, i forgot to mention this yesterday. terri called me while i was at work, she said they were coming back to england to meet some family for new years. they're flying in tonight and she said they would love to bring back our old custom for christmas. i told her we would love to have them." belle smiled.

linnea was conflicted. oh that's gonna be a awkward. he definitely doesn't remember me. oh lord. "mom WHAT." she raised her voice saying that. her mother gave her a confused smile, "aren't you happy to see ollie again?" she questioned.

"i doubt he even remembers me mum, we were eight and six." she sighed as she finished the last bite of her grilled cheese. "of course he remembers you lin, the boy was smitten with you." her mum chuckled slightly, "no he wasn't mum, we were friends and to remind you, we were literally kids." linnea denied.

"well whatever it was, they're coming over the day after tomorrow." she said as she closed the dishwasher and started gathering her things.

her mother left around 5 minutes later. linnea thought about all the possible outcomes of christmas day.

1. he doesn't remember me and it's awkward as hell.
2. he does remember but it's been so long that we aren't even nickname base anymore.
3. he does remember and everything is like it was back then.

the last one seemed unrealistic to her. she decided to text bruno and mikayla about the very important matter.

it only rung two times before mikayla answered, "hold on we'll wait for that skank bruno." linnea told mikayla, who only nodded. a few seconds later bruno's face also appeared on the screen, "it's too early for your bullshit lin." bruno groaned as he turned to his side in his bed.

"shut your mouth bruno, i'm having a midlife crisis." linnea told her bestfriend. "you're 16, you can't have a midlife-" "shut up bruno." kayla had interrupted. "what did you have to say lin, sounded serious." kayla continued.

"okay you guys remember when i told you about ollie right? my childhood friend." she started, "yeah we do, you never shut up about him." bruno grumbled. "meh meh mehmeh," linnea mocked him while making a weird face. "well, mum just told me they're flying back to england tonight and ollie's mum called her if they could come over again for christmas." she continued.

kayla's snort was very loud. "that was your urgent business??" she questioned, "i thought someone died."

"girl shut up, this is urgent. what if he doesn't remember me, what if he-"

"lin, stop, from what you and your parents have told me, i know he will remember. and fuck him if he doesn't right?" bruno said while raising an eyebrow. "yeah i guess." linnea shrugged.

"lin, it's gonna be fine. stop worrying. it's not going to be awkward, he was your bestfriend." kayla said. linnea sighed but nodded anyway.

"ok well, good talk. i'm going back to sleep." bruno said, "you're so boring." kayla stated before bruno hung up. "okay, i'm gonna take a shower, and lin?"

"yeah?"

"it's gonna be fine."
